After an ill-timed breakup and the death of her mother, Hanna Stevens is a master in the art of pretending to be fine, really. At least she was, until she meets Milo, who seems to have made a hobby of calling her out on her carefully constructed bullshit.
When she's forced to navigate the tricky events leading up to her best friend's wedding to her ex's brother (honestly, could things get any more complicated?) Hanna relies on her quickly developing flirtationship with groomsman Milo to fill the voids left by her losses and keep her from completely crumbling, something Milo happens to be particularly good at.
After a wild bachelor/bachelorette weekend in Vegas, Hanna and Milo have to admit that their friendship isn't the only thing happening between them.
After losing so much, can Hanna even open herself up to that kind of risk again?

ARC was provided by the Author in exchange of an honest review. DISCLAIMER: The book went through further editing after I received my copy of the same.
I hate the idea of ruining an author's first book for her. But since it was an ARC review, I decided to bite the bullet. I want to apologise to the author in advance.
I did not like this book. It needed a lot of editing and beta reading. It potentially looked like an initial draft that wasn't proof-read before being published.
I didn't understand what was happening half the time and honestly, skimmed through a lot of pages as well. The scenes were abruptly changing, as was the mood of the characters. I would honestly not be able to tell you the synopsis of the book if I tried. It was that confusing.
There was just constant back and forth that did not make any sense to me. Both the MCs were acting oblivious, their emotions scattered all over the place. They were casual, then the guy gets pissed when he is implied as a casual hook up? The girl's ex is in the mix acting like a toddler, like everyone else to be honest. He doesn't seem to love the girl, but he does? I don't know. As I said, I was so confused and distracted, I can't even remember these details. But as I said, it just didn't make sense.
The last few pages comprised of the guy thinking he shouldn't talk to the girl, then the girl, then the guy, then the girl...?? The guy is seemingly together with his casual ex, but the big twist is that they weren't actually together anymore. And it bothered me that the MCs have sex when Hanna wasn't aware of this bit. And she suddenly realises this later, panics, and then just casually seems brushes it off like "oh it's a wedding, I'll deal with this later" like ????
I can go on and on. The reason I gave it the rating that I did is because;
1. I truly believed that the concept the author was trying to portray could have worked well if done properly. 2. Because there was one little closure scene between Hanna and her ex that was a little decent to read.
