SOS Hotel #2

SOS Hotel: Friendly Sanctuary for the Fiendishly Fabulous

Rate this book
It’s been two weeks since the SOS Hotel opened, and everything is going great . . .

Apart from the detective who’s dead set on accusing Zee of murder, the leaking pipes, a psycho sorcerer stalker, a shadowbeast in the attic, and . . . did I mention Lord Reynard has a wife? Yeah, he didn’t mention it either. I could have done with knowing that before, you know, kinda falling for the suave, sexy Vampire Daddy.

He also neglected to mention that his wife wants my head on a plate. Literally.

This is not the love triangle I was expecting.

If Reynard lied about that, what else is a lie? Is Zee right, and Lord Reynard wants our hotel? Or is it something more personal he desires, such as my heart?

My name is Adam Vex. I’m totally, one hundred percent human.

Welcome to the SOS Hotel.

Where it’s about to get weird-er.

*

SOS Hotel is a whacky MMM adventure about a vampire lord, an ex-porn-star demon, and a boring human who absolutely does not have any secrets. 18+ only. You'll find dark humor abounds, plus explicit language and sex. If you don't like the f-word, or sex, with a little mass murder thrown in, do not read these books. There will be triggering content for some, including sexual coercion. Proceed with caution.

Have a great stay!

I’m not sure how long these reviews are going to be because I’m reading faster than I can write and I am currently falling head over heels for this series. There is never a dull moment, every scene keeps you on your toes. I just needed a good laugh and so far these books are delivering, from spice, to characters, to random craziness. There’s also a hint of mystery behind all these elements. Zodiac continues to be all sass and amazingness. Though I’m still waiting for the moment where he and Adam actually talk, because it’s killing me how he just hides his feelings behind a smile. We got more story behind Renyard along with the vampire hierarchy in general, which is pretty much just a cult. He and Zodiac are starting to reach common ground, so that’s nice 😂. These books are so quick but they're also so intriguing!! The perfect combination.

While this installment wasn't quite as engaging as the first book, it certainly had its merits. The plot in this one was, in fact, much more compelling.

Adam continues to be my favorite character; his personality aligns perfectly with my tastes. In this book, Victor takes on a more significant role, which I greatly appreciate. It allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of him and learn more about vampires. Zee, as always, was a delightful presence, and I’m eager to delve into his past, even though I know it will be emotional.

The relationships in this book really evolved. Zee and Adam's dynamic moved forward and backward throughout the story, but I appreciated the softer side that emerged in their interactions. The development of Adam and Victor's relationship was particularly noteworthy. Adam finally gains insight into Victor, and Victor opens up just a bit to Adam. Their growing trust was a satisfying aspect to witness. While Victor and Zee’s relationship remains antagonistic, they have shown a willingness to respect each other, even if it's minimal.

I particularly enjoyed how Adam revealed more about what kind of supernatural creature he is. Since I had guessed what he was from the first book, it was thrilling to see all the clues the author left about Adam’s true identity throughout the book.

In conclusion, this book serves as a solid follow-up to the first. Despite some moments of frustration, I found the overall experience enjoyable.

This book picks up 2 weeks after the events of the first book. Adam and Zee seem to have everything under control, for now, but it’s only a matter of time until something else happens because they seem to have shit luck when it comes to the hotel. This time, things go to hell thanks to Lord Reynard’s lovely wife, who is set on capturing Adam and killing her husband.

“Let’s go fuck up some vampires.”

That summarizes this book pretty well. With Rosanna now in the picture, Adam, Zee, and Lord Reynard must find a way to get rid of her, ideally permanently, before she manages to capture Adam or bring back her husband to their queen, where he will be executed (I will not reveal why yet, as I don’t want to spoil anyone).

“Bloody Bitch?” Tom said.
Rosanna removed her sunglasses and set them down on the bar. “Excuse me?”
“The drink?” Tom smiled, pretending he was innocent.
“Oh yes, thank you.”

There are more vampires in this book and more demons, as Zee and Adam are recruiting allies to help them dispose of Rosanna. We got to see a little more of Zee’s previous life as a porn star, and sadly we also saw more of this toxic relationship he has with Sebastian (although it’s more ownership than relationship). It’s not on-page, but it is clear that Zee has to have sex with Sebastian, and it’s not truly his choice, he feels that he can’t escape it and decides to just accept the inevitable, giving this light and funny read a darker undertone, typical of Ariana Nash’s other books.

“You’re making me look overdressed. Where’s your armor?”
I tugged at my yellow sweater. “This is my armor.”
“Oh Adam, my sweet, dull-as-dishwater kitten. You’re walking into a mansion brimming with humorless vampires looking like a sunshine twink?”

Where the first book focused more on investigating the murder that happened on the Hotel grounds and introducing the characters, this one has more action and running around. Poor Adam can’t catch a break, and his big, soft heart makes it so he can’t leave anyone in a bad situation if he knows he has the power to help them, making his life even more difficult. There is plotting to kill Rosanna, fight scenes against many vampires, a car chase or two, and we also see more of Adam’s mysterious powers.

“Kitten, this is not some team-building, touch-feely shit. This is a survival of the fittest exercise. This is a fuck-them-up-before-they-fuck-us-up exercise. Just know, nobody is getting anywhere near you unless they want fifty inches of Damascus steel shoved up their ass.”
“You don’t need to worry. I’ve got this.” I beamed.

I love Adam, but I am also so frustrated that I have no idea what he is. There were some hints I think when they mentioned the Wilson’s guide and the fact that a section was missing. I think maybe Adam ripped it out? Or maybe I am reading too much into it… Anyways, it is driving me nuts, because I have so many theories, but since we don’t know that much about the world-building and the Lost Ones that exist in this world, he can be something that we never even heard of.

“Go, have fun. I’ll find a guest to fuck— I’m joking! Don’t frown. The guests are off limits, blah blah. I promise to be good. Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a dick in my eye.”
“That’s not how that rhyme— never mind.

After seeing Zee go all warrior on the vampires, with armor and a named sword, I desperately need to know more about his past, and I need to know who he was before he got stuck on Earth. It was so different from the irreverent and sassy lust demon, it was shocking, but so intriguing to discover this new side of him, and to see that he has more layers than we first thought, and I. Need. More.

I feared we’d made the itch worse, instead of getting rid of it. Maybe itch was the wrong word, although, standing in the same room as him did have parts of me craving his touch. And it had nothing to do with his allure.

Things are back to normal between Adam and Zee, but the sexual tension is still there and even worse than before. They are still toeing the line between professional partners and bedsheet partners, and there is some spice in this sequel. For now, everything romantic or sexual remains MM, but it is clear that Adam is interested in Zee and Reynard, and they are both interested in him too. The tension between Zee and Lord Reynard is also slowly, very slowly, melting away as they realize that they both care for Adam and bond over their desire to protect him and kill other vampires.

In two weeks, I’d made an enemy of a sorcerer who knew I had secrets, and now I’d managed to enrage the entire San Franciscan vampire hierarchy. But it wasn’t all bad. I’d made friends with a shadowbeast— and kinda adopted a vampire daddy with benefits, and a demon who didn’t just suck cock for cash but could wield a sword like a badass.
Hopefully, the SOS Hotel had reached peak drama, and the next few weeks would be boring, in a good way.

While this second installment focuses more on the vampires, Gideon Cain is still very much a threat to Adam, his secret, and his hotel, and I am eagerly waiting for May to arrive so I can read the next chapter of this series.

Oh my goodness!
No, it's certainly not perfect. The plot is a tiny bit thin here and there.
But, my goodness, it picks up so much speed at the end that I forgot to breathe.
The dance scene with Victor...
Zee... everything and every scene with Zeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Zee’s right eyebrow shot up. “Kitten, who is the lust demon?” He pointed at his own chest, then took my hand again. “Vampire Daddy wants to fuck you hard against a wall, trust me. He’s all conflicted, for vampire-drama reasons. Once he gets over it, he’s gonna hump you like a bitch in heat.” 😳

“Easy, Kitten,” Zee purred, eyes blaze. “Don’t want to hurt—”
“You can’t hurt me,” I growled, baring blunt human teeth in a snarl. “Do it. Fill me, Zee. I need it. I can take it. All of it.”
His gaze danced across my face, reading me, as he fought with himself—to go slow, or do me hard. I knew what he wanted, and it wasn’t soft and slow, or to whisper sweet nothings. It was animal. Primal. I needed his dick plunging into me, needed to come all over him, needed to make him mine.
🔥🔥🔥

“Whiskey?”
“Probably not. I think I have a drinking problem.”
“It’s only a problem if you make it one,” Tom said, nodding along. “But on the list of Adam Vex’s problems, I’d suggest alcohol is way down. Barely a problem at all.”
🤭

I laid my head on his chest and listened to his heart thump. Gradually, its gallop slowed, and I fell asleep to the sound of his heart’s comforting drum-like beat.
I couldn’t tell him that I’d always come back to him. Always. Nothing on this earth could keep me away.
🫠🫠🫠

I'm devouring book three now.

This continues to be a delightfully entertaining, silly, supernatural time. These stories are such neat and tidy little packages that I feel like they are so easy to just gobble up.

I really enjoyed getting to know more about the vampire dynamics in this world and about Victor's backstory. I appreciate that while the story is slowly laying the groundwork for the attraction between Victor and Adam that it isn't disregarding the development of the relationship between Victor and Zee. That's always one of the pitfalls of poorly written MMM I find, they just have wanting to fuck the lynchpin character be the only thing they have in common to each other and there is nothing else of substance there and it's just hard to believe it's any sort of genuine relationship.

I am surprised to find myself really enjoying Zee and his chemistry with Adam. Initially I found Zee to be a bit too OTT but he has grown on me the more we have gotten to see his character. I really love how the emotions and sentiment is increasingly crawling into their relationship and how important they are to the other. The emotional declarations between them of how important they are to the other make me giggle and swing my feet.

My final favourite part of this is getting to watch Adam display some of his true strength and kick some ass. I love an underestimated character with secret abilities! I have a few half hearted guesses about what he is but I have internationally not put any real thought into it cause I'm looking forward to the unveiling of it in the story!

This book would have been better without Lord Fuck-Hard.

I'm just sayin' what we're all thinking.

Adam likes him, I guess, but Adam likes everyone.

Reynard shows up, looking like a million dollars in his fancy suits, throwing big dick energy around, and the simps lose their minds. Like, hello? Number 1 sex demon, right here. What do we need a vampire daddy at the hotel for? So what if bought a jukebox and maybe helped save my life? (don't tell Adam, but the jukebox is AWESOME) I could TOTALLY have bought a jukebox too. And okay, so maybe His Royal Highness is fuckin' hot. Look, you don't have to like someone to want to drop to your knees and beg for more, daddy.

Whatever.

“The glamor you wear is a type of ward,” the duke said, proving he was no fool. “A portable one. They’re generally not powerful, and mostly used to hide minor imperfections, or mask one’s face temporarily. But yours is powerful, and I want to see what it’s hiding.”

THAT’S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW TOO!!!

He snapped his fangs near my face, and wrestled against my hold. Granted, he was strong. But when I didn’t have to pretend, so was I.

This mystery is driving me nuts, but Adam Vex loves to tease us with it. I mean, we are the readers behind the book’s wall. WHO ARE WE GONNA TELL????? No one, so please just SPIT IT OUT!!

Entertaining. And highly addictive.

First of all: can it be read as a standalone? No, definitely not. There’s an overall story arch, and a lot of mysteries to uncover, the biggest of all being Adam Vex, the author of these books, who’s definitely NOT a boring human who absolutely does not have any secrets.

In this episode, the vampires enter the chat - and boy oh boy did I enjoy it seeing them being ripped to shreds by our band of misfits: our absolutely non-threatening human Adam, Zee the ex-pornstar who might or might not be a fearless serial killing warrior, Lord Fuck-Hard the vampire daddy, the Shadow in the attic - and let’s not forget Tom Collins’s the AI bartender with a penchant for custom made drinks 😬

To quote Adam:
Hopefully, the SOS Hotel had reached peak drama, and the next few weeks would be boring, in a good way.

No. I bet it hasn’t 😬

I can’t taste it with 5 stars because I intensely disliked the Zee/Sebastian situation- other than that, I loved it!

I'm going to be really honest here and just say up front that I'm flying through these so fast I'm confusing myself. Being almost finished with book three before writing the review for book two has me all kinds of mixed up about what happened in which book. How important is that really though? 😂

My brain keeps going brrrr, and I'm enjoying myself far too much every time I pop my headphones in. Zee continues to be an absolute delight, and Michael Lesley deserves a bonus for how well he's brought him to life. Every time he says "lover" or "kitten" or Zee and Adam hook up, I feel like I need to lie down 🤣

I do know this... I'm champing at the bit so badly to know Adam's secret that I need to gnaw on a stick or something 🦫 I mean, I know he's totally a normal human with no secrets or whatever, but I HAVE A NEED. Luckily, Evie was kind enough to tell me that I should get the answer sooner rather than later, so the threat of me chewing through a table leg has decreased dramatically 😌

• paranormal shenanigans • m/m •

Audio/eyeball mix again and OMG this was so FUN. Like the funnest- fun! The humor throughout is just soooo that’s my type.

“Fuck, you smell like a hundred hoes.”
“Busy night”

🤭

Zee’s continued disgust over Vampire Daddy and the social media ship 😆

“But enemies to lovers? Who fucks their enemy? What kind of fucked-up romance is that?”

Ummmm …. THE BEST KIND! 😏

This was more murdery-fun and gave us some teaser clues to Adam Vex’s secrets. This was so fast paced and I’m TOTALLY hooked!

AUDIO OUT TODAY (XMAS EVE)!

The shenanigans continue in the second book.

So, who thought Reynard, the shady vampire daddy, was hiding something?

Yeah, turns out it was a wife, and a whole lot of other stuff that's about to ruin Adam's day.

If only everyone listened to Zodiac.

"He tasted like every forbidden thing— wicked sweetness and heated spice— and the kiss turned messy, rough, spiked with his sharp teeth."

So things just got steamier in book two, which picks up where book 1 left off!

I am still absolutely loving this very different set of books, from the fabulous Ariana Nash (no offence to Adam Vex!) SOS Hotel: Friendly Sanctuary for the Fiendishly Fabulous is book two of (at least!) three books in her latest PNR urban fantasy series, SOS Hotel.

Adam's troubles continue. Turns out the hotel definitely has a gremlin problem, Zodiac is becoming more and more irresistable, Gideon Cain is unrelenting and Reynard has a damn wife!

This is still just MM as far as the romance goes, with Adam falling for BOTH his business partners in book one, but you just know this is going to end up as MMM once the demon and the vampire sort out their differences - and who doesn't adore an enemies to lovers show-down?!

To be continued in book 3 ....SOS HOTEL: Sleep With Us

This book continues nicely from Book 1, but lets us delve a bit more into the backgrounds of Zodiac and Lord Reynard, which are both quite interesting.

Tom Collins is my fave. I need more of his snarky wisdom.

I am dying to know what exactly Adam is hiding. So many secrets that we still need to figure out!

And I cannot wait to get into the MMM portion of the story.

ARC received from Gay Romance Review and this is my honest opinion.

Things just keep getting crazier and crazier as this series goes on. I have so many friggin questions and basically no answers!! It's killing me! If you thought there were secrets being kept in book 1, then be prepared for even more in book 2. And this is not me saying that secrets come to light. Oh no. Just that we are aware that it isn't only Adam who is hiding who he is. The plot definitely thickens my friends.

This book is a touch darker than the first with more violence, but it still has that lighthearted feel. I have a lot of theories floating around my brain after finishing about certain things. What is Adam and who is he hiding from? Who was Zee before he got stuck through the veil? Does having one's name in the guestbook actually have a magical significance? I could keep going, but I think I'll be spinning my wheels until the next one of these little doozies comes out!

Another winner despite the hundred questions I have now.

More steam than last time but still pretty much MM, but there's a thawing between our demon and vamp! I can see the MMM action ahead!

I dunno how Nash, writing here as Adam, manages to pack all the world building, characterisation, plot, and action in, but I really loved every second

Adam is fascinating! I need to know everything about him! While I have theories, I'm ready to be proven wrong.

Zee, sweet Zee. I just love him. He has so many layers.

Reynard, the jury is out on him after this book's shenanigans, but he and Adam have great chemistry.

I'm glad these are going to be a fairly rapid release because I need the 3rd one now, please and thanks

Hmmm, not quite sure about this second installment in the SOS Hotel series. I really enjoyed the first one, but this felt... idk, like a filler?

I also really didn't like Zee being forced to sleep with and submit to his former boss, it seemed gross and unnecessary. Plus, Adam saying he couldn't stop it was BS, he just chose not to because it meant revealing a secret and it made me dislike him quite a bit.

Not sure I'll be continuing with this series.

This is absolutely Hazbin Hotel fanfiction, but it is fun and the characters are pretty adorable. This time around we discovered some of Reynard's secrets, and we got a glimpse into Zee and Adam's ones. And I can't wait. I want to know more about Zee's past, sure, but I need to know what Adam is hiding!!
That said, the book is a fast and short read, funny, with some aww moments, and the plot moves along pretty nicely.
All in all, it is a satisfying book, and I can't wait to read the sequel!

The second book in the SOS Hotel trilogy (though I hope for more) is as chaotic as the first one, but the connection between the main characters became more apparent. And, it's even more fun than the first book, if that's possible.

I'm head-over-heels in love with the lust demon, Zodiac, and so, so curious about Adam and Reynard.

Can't wait for the next installment!
