Into the Mystical is a fun, easy-to-read metaphysical book based on authentic knowledge from the ancient Vedic philosophy. It includes chapters with personal anecdotes on the nature of the soul, reincarnation, karma, yoga, the astral body, vegetarianism, Vedic predictions for our current times and spiritual solutions to our present political turmoil.
I must say that I was disappointed with much of this book. I had heard Robert speak at a conference and was really impressed with his knowledge and stage presence; so I was looking forward to reading his book. Well, many parts just don't quite deliver. I would have liked more depth in the topics he covered such as in the astral body chapter. It seemed to me that many things were addressed on the surface only. Of course I am not a Vedic scholar so perhaps I am so naive that I don't recognize all the meat Robert has put into his book. One more thing; the Peace Formula at the end is excellent but it is mostly optimistic and doesn't take into account that much of the world's population would think it was a bunch of fluff. I am looking forward to when 3% of the population embraces the Peace Formula because supposedly that is all that is needed for change to take place. As a footnote I want to say that for those who are looking for an introduction into Vedic philosophy, this is probably an excellent book to begin with.
Robert Taylor is a scholar and teacher of Vedic philosophy. He is a lifelong practitioner of Bhakti Yoga. He was a monk in India, he is the host of a metaphysical television show in Michigan, and he once worked at Barney's in England. His Welsh spiritedness combines beautifully with his spirituality, in person and in his writing.
This is a marvelous book for people new to Eastern philosophy, or studied experts; easy to grasp, friendly to share, and delightful to absorb.
He reminds us that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, not the other way 'round.
The introduction begins "My Welsh Uncle Vince and I came into the world just 200 yards from Merlin's sacred oak tree."
