The last volume is featuring lots of drama — to be precise family drama. Seeing how Tamaki is worried sick about Suzume and being mad for her not wanting to come home is something I totally understand. After all, Tamaki is just trying to protect her and help her grow as a fine young woman. They both struggle to understand eachother. I wanted them to understand and love eachother. Suzume deserves a loving family and so does Tamaki who cares so much for a child that isn't her own.
Daijin and Sadaijin look so cute, I surely do like these both. Also, when they become big, they look like giant lions and that looks wildly cool.
Overall, I'm glad that the relationship between Satou and Suzume never turned romantic as they are teenager and adult and that would be weird. I'm also feeling relieved that this story has a happy end, but to be honest I think we all knew that right? The author of Your Name has made another great story and I'm looking forward of reading any future books that Makoto Shinkai publishes.
Reading the third volume of Suzume reminds me of the film Suzume which I have watched before. The moment Suzume confronts Tamaki and little Suzume meets her future remains a tense and emotional moment at the same time.
In this volume, I really like Daijin too. If only he could stay with Suzume. I also like how Souka is on good terms with his grandfather. This volume is the most impressive in my opinion.
Having fallen in love with the film version of Suzume, I was more than excited to read the manga. And it doesn't disappoint! Sure, there are some changes made, mostly due to chapter formatting, but it translated well to the page. The art is very beautiful and captures the essence of the film.
This was a really good end and Daijin is the best character ever. To compare with the movie, I think the movie is better because of the music and the doomed liked atmosphere. I feel liked I felt a lot more fear watching it and that is thanks to both the animation and the music. But I must say it was really cool to read it and to have a analog version of the movie.
Oh my god! This series. I need to go back and watch the movie. How can you hate little Dajin? I think he just wants to be loved. Had a little cry. Love this.
No real surprises here... this book (and the entire series) was good enough, but I'm mostly excited about it being over so I can go watch the movie again. Netflix, here I come...
Suzume sets off on her own to find a way back into the Everafter. Her first stop is to talk with Souta’s grandfather, who tells her the only way in is how she entered as a child. This means she must revisit her destroyed childhood home in Northern Japan. As she begins her journey, she is waylaid by her aunt and Souta’s schoolmate, both of whom force their way into her journey. Suzume confronts the memories of her childhood and finds her portal into the Everafter, and the fierce battle waiting for her on the other side.
This is the fitting conclusion that brings closure to the blips of memories we've been seeing throughout the story and ties everything together with some satisfying time manipulation. The emotional stakes are also high, but this is a satisfying way to bring everyone to a climax and end it all in a tidy three-volume arc. The adaptation from movie to manga was faithfully portrayed and will be satisfying for fans of the film, but it also was created in a way that these manga can stand alone and not rely on a movie viewing to be enjoyed. The panels recreated the movie scenes but still added a bit of their own flair, so there's still something to be experienced by reading the books. Exceptionally well done.
