In a radio-era city under the thumb of vague oppression, two freaks of science struggle to accomplish their personal goals. For his part, Vatsy wishes to become a journalist. His obstacles include a weak grasp on reality, an appalling lack of talent, and a habit for making precisely the wrong enemies in a city where contract violence is the most enduring industry. Bruno's goal is a little more keep himself and his associate alive in the face of hazardous conditions, lunatic bounty hunters, colorful assassins, and the fallout of mad science gone wrong. From the bustle of the trainyards to the chill of tunnels best left unexplored, Vatsy and Bruno will have to fight for their lives at every turn. Bruno's skills are not inconsiderable, but they are not, unlike the city's supply of violence, inexhaustible. One thing's for Vatsy's persistence is bound to land him in the evening news...one way or the other.
Big fan of Rutskarn, a.k.a. Adam DeCamp, and his humor. Was more than worth the $1 I paid for this book. Shades of Douglas Adams at times with interesting protagonists and their amusing interplay as well as a fun, campy (in a good way) setting.
I wish I had something more solid to hang my hat on to show why this is so good but if you're a fan of Rutskarn you'll just want this. It's a good book from start to finish and I can't recommend it enough. Risk the dollar if you want to be thoroughly entertained, you'll receive far more in return.
Don't let my lack of craftsmanship with words derail you from Rutskarns'. It's an adventure you'll not want to put down.
