It was only supposed to be a little legal advice, and a crash course in the sex department, but what happens when the grumpy lawyer falls for the less-than-experienced-sunny romantic?
Big-shot attorney Aariv Abbas is every woman's dream: hunky as sin, successful, and that man who puts responsibility, and family duty first (the kind of man every South Asian hopes their son becomes when they grow up). Too bad he's such a grumpy asshole with a one-track mind. And thank God he's only in the market for an Indian wife.
Chrissy Smyth is young, brash, full of hopes, and a head-in-the-clouds dreamer, but a chance encounter with a grumpy lawyer has her realizing that romance isn't for everyone. And she doesn't need to waste her time with nonbelievers like him, no matter how hot or big his … biceps may be.
But when her life takes a major misstep and her family's business gets pulled into a serious Russian crime ring, what's a girl to do but look to the only attorney she knows for advice, Grumpenhunk and all?
And how's the good Indian son supposed to behave when his attraction for a woman who ticks none of the boxes on his life list becomes unmanageable?
A grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, slight age gap, cultural differences, and ultra steamy romance that will make you laugh, cry, want to punch a pillow, and then do a happy dance.
Khushi T. Saha is a notorious daydreamer. And ask anyone close to her and they’ll tell you she’s a positive, mushy person, too. Enter in ‘writing romance novels’: what began as self-care to overcome personal trauma, ended up evolving into something much more fulfilling. Bringing stories of angst, personal growth, and passion (the steamier the better!) with some snarky humor to romantics all around has become a hunger she can’t seem to satiate😊. In fact, once she’s done with a story, there’s already another one a-brewin'. And because she’s a first-generation Bangladeshi—born and raised in the US—the connection to the motherland is fierce. You’ll find South Asian nuances/representation purposely sprinkled throughout her novels. When she's not writing, she's managing her craft business, obsessed with gardening in the spring and summer months, running around with her boys, and binge-watching murder shows/podcasts.
It's an amazing interracial romance. Both the characters are amazing and the storyline is engaging as well. The author did a brilliant job with every trope she mentioned the book would portray. Chrissy is so bubbly, confident and strong and I love her so much. Aariv is so amazing at being a grumpy yet charming man. He is so caring and protective and passes for being on the list of the best book boyfriends. Their banters were so fun to read and chemistry was off the charts.
Read it if you love: 💝 Interracial romance 💝 Grumpy x sunshine 💝 Opposite attracts 💝 Witty banters
Thank you so much @swipethebookpr and Khushi for the ARC!
I have been hooked on Khushi T. Saha from the very first book I read. Her books are so jam packed it’s hard to believe she fit so much into only 457 pages.
I already knew my new book boyfriend would be Aariv when I read the book overview. Ummm hello did you say a hunky grumpy asshole??
As always the steam was not skipped but you also get grumpy/sunshine and opposites attract with some serious Russian crime ring mixed in!
“Free Fall” is a romance novel that combines perfect chemistry, heart wrenching plot twists, and undeniable intimacy.👀💘
The chemistry between them was so so good🤭, making it impossible to put down the book. And let me tell u how in the end Aariv became obsessed ( and I mean OBSESSED) with Chrissy🤭💕 I loved how he knew how to take care of her when she needed him the most🥹💕 THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!!🎀
It had everything, perfect chemistry, romance, plot twists and of course a lot of spicy scenes 🤭👀 And my favourite part was Chrissy giving Aariv a nickname and calling him “Grumpenstein”😭🤭💗
THANKYOUU to the author for writing this absolute beauty and Aariv of course 🤭🤭
Every time I pick up a book by Khushi, I know it’s going to be a great read! Her latest does not disappoint! In fact, I think this one may just be my favourite! Aariv was a bit of an enigma in her previous books centred around his cousin, Mariam, and I’m so glad that he finally got his own story. Chrissy is such a spitfire, no nonsense kind of girl and she is just the perfect contract to Aariv’s severe grumpiness. Their witty banter and easy pillow talk just add to how perfect they are for one another. I especially enjoyed the bit of mystery involving Chrissy’s inherited business and its involvement with the Russian mafia. This book marks the first time that Khushi has written a South Asian man, and I think she did an incredible job! The sense of familial duty, the gossip within the community, parental interference, arranged marriages, the antiquated and discriminatory ‘BMW’ stance of the older generation… these are just some of the topics addressed in this book. It’s so much more than just a steamy romance, it’s also a social commentary. If you have not read this indie author yet, what are you waiting for?!
Thank you to the author and Lacuna Author Services for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
It was my first time reading Khushi's book. I had never read her works before. And the experience was amazing. The plot, the story, and the characters' connection with one another. Everything was lovely.💕
Chrissy is a hardworking, smart, and gorgeous woman. Her heart might be a hopeless romantic, but she is a strong woman who is aware of her strengths.🥹🛐
Aariv is a hot-as-sin lawyer. A charming man with a grumpy exterior. He is going to win you over with his charming personality. 🫠🫠
I adored their teasing and pillow conversations. The way their relationship blossomed from wishing to be friends with benefits to truly falling in love and defying all accepted norms. They will captivate you with their actions.💕
This was the first time, I read her book. It was Great. I'm definitely, reading more of her books. Please, read the trigger warning, in this book. 💓 Aariv and Chrissy. This book has a lot, it has grumpy sunshine, opposite attracts, age group, afraid to commit, friends with benefits, alphahole, funny, emotional scars, big shot attorney, arranged marriage to a India, Russian crime ring, dirty talk, opposite attracts, dancer, steamy, entertaining, and so much more. Quote: Their attention set between them, watching their casual tete- tete in humor, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Will definitely, read more of her book.
This is the first book that I have read by Khushi and she did not disappoint. I loved the interracial relationship.the storyline was amazing and it kept me hooked. The relationship between Aariv and Chrissy was phenomenal I loved how they went from wanting each other to friends with benefits and then falling in love. This book had some amazing tropes such as grumpy sunshine, age gap, friends with benefits, opposites attract and more. I can’t wait to read more books by Khushi.
Chrissy was at a wedding for her friend where she met Aariv who turned out to be her best friend’s cousin. She went up to him to talk to him and he was very short with her and after a while told her to leave he was having a conversation with Zayn his best friend. After she left he felt bad and he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She ended up needing a lawyers advice so he asked her best friend and told her to call this guy. She had the appointment with him when she got to his office they recognized each other after a few minutes. He was still acting the same way as he did at the wedding. She told him what was going on and he told her he couldn’t help her without proof. So she left but he told his PI friend about everything and he was able to help Chrissy. This was a good book and so much took place so I’m not going to spoil it.
I really enjoyed this book. The way it's written makes it a pleasure to read. The story just flows, I couldn't put it down. I loved how it goes to the past so you have background and depth to the book and then jumps back into the present day. Absolutely enjoyed being an arc reader for this book & would recommend to others to read. Culture differences, friends with benefits, opposites attract.
Chrissy Smyth was cheerful and beautiful who didn't expect to meet Aariv once again after a rather blunt encounter.
Aariv Abbas, handsome, aloof and successful in his profession was the talk of the event wherever he went. Looking for an Indian wife, he is surely quite a catch.
However, fate has always been a wildcard in everyone's destiny. And it looks like the spotlight on shines brightly on the grumpy attorney and the sunshine event planner.
As their paths keeps on intertwining, will they realise that maybe there's more to what meets the eye?
Free fall has this intriguing romance that will not only make you swoon but also give you a chance to understand what it means to surpass the challenges and turmoil to step closer to love that is worth it all. Even in the opposite attracts theory you need to understand each other's emotions and choices. The author, Khushi's writing style pulls you in and doesn't let you go. You'll feel the robust electricity surging, passion igniting and relationship blooming. The characters are well fleshed and they will imprint on your mind for sure. There are these timelines that give you the glimpses of their perspectives, meets and epic banters. And Chrissy's nickname for Aariv is absolutely hilarious and fits him like a glove. I think the author excelled in exploring in the inter- racial relationship and the spicy level was definitely 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
“Grumpenstein?” She typed boldly, but then hesitated, hovering over the send button. She finally hit it. But what if it wasn’t him? What if it was some eloquently spoken axe murdered who’d somehow found her number?
A terse message answered her worries. “Who else would it be? And don’t call me that.”
Meeting by chance at a wedding, Chrissy flirts her way into a conversation with Aariv that goes nowhere.
Aariv is an immigrant, coming to the US at 18 to take care of his grandmother. He enrolls in law school to become a powerful lawyer, and a powerful Grumpenstein (as Chrissy lovingly calls him). Chrissy is an event planner/dancer/rug store owner that finds herself in the midst of a smuggling ring. Chrissy goes to Aariv for help with the potential smuggling ring, asking him for assistance and instead finding him to be very off-putting, earning his title as Grumpenstein. Aariv, feeling a pull toward Chrissy, assigns her Tag, a PI, to assist.
Along the way, Chrissy and Aariv continue to run into each other at events and slowly start to act on the attraction to each other. Starting as just a fling in a dark storeroom, it progresses into the two sharing intimate details of their lives and families. Chrissy starts to fall for Aariv, but Pinky Aunty is on the hunt for him to find a wife that fits in with their own culture and race. Can the two make the romance work? Will it be more than stolen moments?
And what will become of the rug store and the potential smuggling ring?
Read it to find out. It starts out slow but once you’re invested, you’re invested and it’s a quick read.
It was my first book by Khushi and I'm hooked, I loved her writing and I'm definitely gonna read more books by her in the future without a doubt.
Chrissy Smith, the sunshine, smart, no nonsense, and gorgeous girl. Aariv Abbas is grumpy, hot, powerful and successful lawyer with a charming personality.
The storyline and plot was so good, it kept me hooked. I was unable to put the book down and their chemistry just added to that fire of making this book more engaging. The chemistry, the tension, the soft talks, the spice, everything was done wonderfully. The writing was amazing. The characters were well portrayed.
Overall, I'm definitely gonna read more of Khushi's books and highly recommended romance book portraying Indian MMC.
I absolutely loved this story! This book hit very close to my heart. I highly recommend this book for romantics that have ever dated outside of their culture. The author does a fantastic job addressing the expectations different cultures put on their child when it comes to marriage. I had big feelings while reading and I am hopeful that more men will take Aariv's view on love and life as the new generations move into more open minded thinking on how arranged marriage vs love based marriage affect household dynamics. I recommend this to all my fellow romance lovers.
Honestly, I tried hard as it was part of a book tour but I started feeling guilty for spending my little time I got during weekends reading something I didn't like. Some books I feel like it might not be the right time so I put them down and pick it up later. But I don't think this book will ever have the right time with me. My official second DNF :/
(And I pushed myself through for 50 percent. I even picked up something else to get back on the track but my time that book was much hard to get through so DNFed both at the same time 🥹)
This was the other book I picked up 🤦🏻 sorry not for me anytime
Making hard choices :p
Now I'm going to pick some Thiller so that I can pick myself up I don't want to go down the reading slump for a few days.
This was my first read by this author and what a great introduction it was! I loved the characters, the storyline, the plot….everything. I really enjoyed the parts of Indian culture and language that were thrown in, it helped to really set the climate of the situations that were happening. I loved all the emotions I got to experience throughout this read. Overall a really great book and I can’t wait to read more by Khushi!

My Thoughts: "Free Fall" by Khushi T. Saha is a novel that offers everything readers need to enjoy a book. It features phenomenal writing and a fantastic plot. The main characters and side characters are all amazing, and the chemistry between the hero and heroine is sizzling. The novel addresses cultural differences, hardships, the pressure of certain cultures regarding marriage, and the stereotypes associated with specific cultures and traditions. The author does a fantastic job showcasing the differences and the beauty that can come from effective communication. I wholeheartedly recommend this novel, especially if you have experience dating outside of your culture. It's just going to hit differently. Overall, I enjoyed every second of reading this book and look forward to reading more from Khushi T. Saha.
This was my first book by this author and I was not disappointed! This book had me invested throughout the whole thing. It had a great storyline and plot! This had all the tropes! Grumpy/sunshine, age gap, spicy! It was written so well! I will definitely be reading more by this author!
This book follows the story of hotshot lawyer Abbas Aariv, who is 'the eligible bachelor' in the South Asian community of NYC. Not interested in a marriage for duty, the pressure by elders to marry a Hindu girl from a good Indian family is something he isn't exactly excited about, especially when some big leaps in his career are in the making, and past baggage to deal with.
His wish to meet his soulmate(?) comes unwittingly true in the wedding of a cousin, with a peppy blonde blue-eyed girl sporting the perfect Indian bridesmaid look.
Their fiery yet brief encounter resumes months later when she arrives at his office seeking legal help for some shady illegal business going on in her late mom's rug store.
Chrissy, a Russian immigrant, works as an event manager & acrobatics dancer in a night club to make ends meet. Target Audience: Definitely 18+ readers who like spicyyy romance with grovelling & a happy ending✨
Aariv & Chrissy start out in the beginning of the book hating each other. I mean aariv literally struggling with his inner thoughts and his actions and it’s actually quite enjoyable. Aariv is a complete ass whenever it comes to Chrissy. He’s just a flat out jerk. Lol . She pretty much takes his crap but doesn't take it without putting a little sass into her step. She knows exactly how to push his buttons, finding ways to piss him off or irritate him if she can and do it sweetly. These two are completely crazy in the beginning. I really enjoyed their banter the most. The intensity and romance begins when he makes a move on her. It's just so good.
Chrissy's character is very strong willed and hard working. Her attitude and her personality had me immediately loving her. I loved that not only was she a strong willed woman but also a monster in the bedroom. She was independent and free spirited. She's not afraid to ask for what she needs. She was dominant and sexy. I was able to experience them falling in love with each other which in-turn let me fall in love with them and the plot line.
Overall I think this is a great read if you’re looking for something very steamy and light hearted. There’s no denying that the pages ooze intense banter, sizzle and steamy intimate moments and the characters in my opinion are funny, sometimes arrogant, sweet and very sexy. The story ends well but leaves you wanting more. This is a page turner and I highly recommend it to those looking for a fast, fun and scorching read.
Free Fall is a fiery, emotional rollercoaster that blends romance, suspense, and cultural tension into a captivating story. Khushi T. Saha delivers a steamy grumpy/sunshine romance with high stakes, witty banter, and characters you can’t help but root for.
Aariv Abbas is everything you’d expect from a successful, grumpy lawyer: disciplined, focused and handsome. Enter Chrissy Smyth, who embodies spontaneity and unapologetic hopefulness. Their chemistry is off the charts, and their opposites-attract dynamic keeps the tension simmering throughout the book. From their electric first encounter to their unexpected partnership, their relationship is a masterclass in slow-burn romance with plenty of heat.
Saha also explores the cultural pressures and familial expectations faced by Aariv, creating a layer of depth that makes his struggles relatable. Chrissy’s free spirit is the perfect foil, helping him break free from societal constraints and rediscover the importance of living for himself. The progression of their emotional connection felt genuine, with moments of vulnerability that tugged at my heart.
Tropes to Love: ✨ Grumpy/Sunshine ✨ Opposites Attract ✨ Forced Proximity ✨ Found Family ✨ Cultural Expectations
Overall, Free Fall is a must-read for fans of steamy, emotional romances with a dash of suspense. Khushi T. Saha’s writing is sharp, passionate, and brimming with heart. I can’t wait to dive into more of her stories.
The MMC, Aariv Abbas is a sharp and successful attorney who has no time for romance. His focus is on winning cases and climbing the corporate ladder whereas the FMC, Chrissy Smyth is a hopeful dreamer. She believes love should be life's guiding star. She's searching for a connection that will make her heart sing. Eventually, their lives collide when a crisis pulls them together, challenging their beliefs and sparking a chemistry they can't deny. As they navigate their differences, they must confront their deepest fears and desires🫶🏻
This is a masterfully written, captivating romance novel. The plot is filled with intense, suspenseful moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The dialogue is engaging, humorous and authentic, making it easy to become invested in the characters lives. The author skillfully explores complex emotions, creating a rich, relatable reading experience.✨
The book contains so many spicy scenes because of which I wasn't able to put it down 🙈 I was hooked until the very end! The part Chrissy called Aariv as a "Grumpenstein" was so damn cute🤌🏻 The book involves themes like love, personal growth, relationships etc. The novel delves into the complexities of romance, trust, and vulnerability💕
If you're a Romance reader, a Fan of contemporary fiction or seeking a heartwarming, emotional story then this one's for you!🥹
Big-shot attorney Aariv Abbas is hunky as sin. Too bad he's such a grumpy asshole with a one-track mind. Chrissy Smyth is a romantic, full of hopes and dreams. Review:
This was a grumpy sunshine, enemies to lovers, mixed race romance. Chrissy was a strong FMC who is doing the most to make ends meet, but at the same time exemplifies grace, glamour and a positive attitude. Aariv is a grumpy sunshine (my fav) and a successful lawyer, basically my husband? He is also protective, caring and a super sweet bf who stands up against his familial expectations to be with her. This is a main reason I love South Asian rep, I can really relate a lot to the family and cultural expectations. I look forward to reading her other books!
Thank you so much to @ktsromance for the finished copy and goodies that she sent me earlier this fall!
First of all, thanks to Swipe the book pr for including me in this book tour for this adorable rom-com!
Free Fall is a fun-filled romantic comedy packed with humor and emotions that keeps readers on the edge of their seats! It vividly portrays how challenging it can be to even think about falling in love with someone from a different culture due to stereotypes and social norms!!
Chrissy and Aariv are the perfect “opposites attract” pair, and I loved their grumpy x sunshine dynamic and witty banter. Chrissy is portrayed as someone who exudes confidence and knows exactly what she’s capable of💕✨
As for Aariv, even though he’s described as grumpy, I personally saw him as someone who feels he should be grumpy because of his responsibilities. From the very first scene, he struck me as a big softie—a “born to be a pookie but forced to be grumpy” type💕
The book uses time skips between past and present to add depth, along with a touch of mystery involving what’s happening behind the scenes at Chrissy’s rug store.
If you’re into opposites attract, grumpy x sunshine, and age gap tropes, then this is definitely for you!💕🦋✨
This was my first time reading this author, and I loved it. The writing style is enjoyable, and the story flows smoothly. I especially liked how it includes past events to give background to the characters.
The story begins with a bit of legal advice and a crash course in romance, but it turns into something more when a grumpy lawyer falls for a cheerful, inexperienced romantic.
Aariv Abbas, a top lawyer, is every woman's dream—handsome, successful, and responsible. But he's also grumpy and focused only on finding an Indian wife.
Chrissy Smyth is young, hopeful, and a bit of a dreamer. A chance meeting with Aariv makes her realize that romance isn't for everyone, especially with someone like him, no matter how attractive he is.
When Chrissy’s family business gets into trouble with a Russian crime ring, she turns to Aariv for help. Despite their differences, their attraction grows.
This story is a mix of opposites attracting, cultural differences, and steamy romance. It will make you laugh, cry, get frustrated, and feel happy. A must-read for romance fans.
finished reading Free Fall and I'm still reeling from the experience! This book is amazing. It has opposites attract, with a healthy dose of grumpy/sunshine, cultural differences, and steamy romance.
Aariv Abbas, the gruff and handsome attorney, and Chrissy Smyth, the free-spirited and optimistic young woman, are complete opposites. Their initial encounter is hilarious, with Aariv's grumpiness clashing with Chrissy's bubbly personality.
As their paths continue to cross, their differences become the foundation for a passionate and all-consuming romance. I loved watching Aariv's gruff exterior crack, revealing a complex and vulnerable character beneath.
Chrissy, on the other hand, is a force of nature - her optimism, enthusiasm, and kindness are infectious. Her character adds a much-needed lightness to the story, balancing out Aariv's darkness. The author's writing is engaging, witty, and insightful, tackling themes of cultural identity, family expectations, and personal growth. The supporting characters add depth and humor to the story, making it a truly immersive read.!
A fan of grumpy x sunshine? This is the book for you. With Aariv a hot shot lawyer looking for a perfect Indian wife. He has always been a goody two shoes and did what was expected of him. And Chrissy who was raised by a single Russian mom who owned a rug business. She was strong, classy and a bit flirtatious. They are drawn to each other from the moment their eyes fall on each other, with early banter and trying their best to stay away from each other, they fail and reach an amazing agreement of friends with benefits which is way too hot. They definitely can't stay without it anymore. But with the need that aariv needs to find a wife and that his community would never accept, it is a damn roller coaster ride that was waiting for them further. To add to the trouble was her mother's rug business which had something going on. I love that the author was spot on about Indian aunties, rituals, and the community guidelines. I was so enjoying it.
This was my first book of Khushi T Saha and I loved reading about Aariv & Chrissy's story! I highly recommend this book for the people who love (very) spicy books. The author did an incredible job of portraying the difficulty of expectations of people, especially parents of desi / different cultures of marriage . It tells you about the effect of love marriage in the household who doesn't approve of love marriage especially out of the culture. The way Chrissy made Aariv think about different things and encouraged him to get out of his ' schedule ' and his past was how love should actually be 😍. It should encourage you to be brave and step out of your comfort zone and this book was exactly that. Chrissy is such a flirt and Aariv matching her energy was really good and that's how he should be. If I don't have a husband who matches my energy I don't want him !! Chrissy & Aariv hating Pinky Aunty was so relatable 😂. I think every Indian has that one aunty who meddles in everyone's lives and judges them. When Aariv told her to get out of his house I was like " yes f off Aunty "( I really want to say that to my irritating relative at least once in my life ). I loved how they made each other strong and most importantly understood each other's past. And the coffee scene was so hot !!!!!! I'll never look at it the same way and I love coffee 😭😂. Also.... I think Chrissy showered her sunshine-ness onto Aariv and made him a sunshine too ( only for her though 😂 )
In this romance, Aariv, a grumpy lawyer with a soft spot for Chrissy, and Chrissy, an event planner struggling with her family's business, find themselves navigating cultural differences, an age gap, and a secret relationship. As they work together to save her business, sparks fly between them, resulting in sizzling chemistry, especially during their "let me teach you" moments. The story expertly balances humor, heartwarming moments, and the challenges of their interracial romance. Indian weddings add vibrancy and richness to the backdrop, while the time-slip element provides intriguing layers to their connection. Aariv's grumpy exterior softening for Chrissy is especially endearing, making this a captivating and emotional read for fans of grumpy x sunshine tropes.
I have heard about Khushi so much from my fellow bookstagram that I was really excited for this book when I got selected for the book tour from @swipethebook.pr and my excitement was all worth it. What a book, everything about this book is wow. 😭 I remember completing this book and quickly messaging the author.
I haven't read much of interracial couple especially the FMC being a non Indian. The Indian author books mostly have MMC being a non Indian and this is what I loved the most about the book. The difference. Also, AARIV ABBAS. Where can I get this man? 😭 This is the kind of guy I'm looking for.
Yes, everything about this book was perfect, the spice, the writing style, the plot, every damn thing was perfect.
I almost DNF’d my first book ever. This had a lot of potential. The Indian culture storyline with finding him a wife, to then having this connection with Chrissy and then trying to have a secret relationship was good. But then, this whole side story of the Russian Mafia and her family store just fizzled out and wrapped up. I saw no real point in this part of the story .
What got me, though, was the their spice scenes. There was a lot which is fine, but he calls her Little Girl multiple times and then she even calls him Uncle Riv at one point and it’s just weird and gave me strong ICK vibes. He even mentions something about it being some role play, or some side of him. I don’t know or remember exactly but just NO
This has some great reviews on here, so maybe it’s just a me thing.
