Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.

Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).

After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again.
Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.

City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.

Cassandra Clare’s upcoming young adult fantasy duology, In Fire Foretold (or possibly just Foretold—titles are still being finalized), marks her first foray into YA fantasy outside the Shadowhunters universe. A portal romantasy, the series follows a young woman (Alix Sear) who must learn to control her dangerous magical abilities to save her kingdom—all while being caught between two princes, brothers born to a cursed royal bloodline (Corin and Bram Trevelyan).

Originally conceived as a novella, In Fire Foretold was expanded into a full-length series. She describes it as a mix of Shadowhunters and The Chronicles of Castellane, with half of the story taking place in a fantasy world and the other half set in our own.

Known Information:
* The protagonist is the daughter of a magician (Harrow Sear) in the king’s court of a fantasy world (Marchbolt). She possesses a forbidden and dangerous power, forcing her father to send her to our world through a portal. She grows up with no memory of her original world, believing she was found wandering the streets at age six.
* Strange events start occurring in her life, leading her to a library near her home. There, a massive monster appears, followed by a man on horseback who tells her she must come with him if she wants to survive.
* The kingdom she was originally from is in grave danger, and her abilities will play a crucial role in its fate.
* The series features a dual-world setting, moving between modern-day Los Angeles and a perilous magical realm.
* The story will include “gorgeous princes with shady pasts” and a fierce heroine prepared to fight on all fronts.

Publication Details:

* The duology will be published by Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers (US) and First Ink under Pan Macmillan (UK).
* While the working title for the first book appears to be Foretold, Clare has also referred to the entire series by that name in interviews, so the final series and book titles may still be in flux.
* It is expected to be released between The Last Prince of Hell (2027) and The Last Shadowhunter , though the exact date is unknown.
* The novella In Fire Foretold, which served as the inspiration and pitch for the publisher, was included in the published short story collection Careful of Books (2025), where it forms the beginning of the book (prologue and first two chapters).

Boycott it, this is going to be absolute complete trash. It's going to be the most generic lame piece of garbage this dingbat will ever write. Lame title just another generic YA High Fantasy which has notorious mediocracy. The only reason it's not just another Shadowhunters series is because people are getting tired of that piece of Satanic, poorly written, derivative trash.
