Do I pick the sunshine or the grump? Why not both?

My father's sudden death shattered my carefully planned future, thrusting me back into my hometown to take over the family business. But as I navigate the sticky terms of his will, I’m forced to spend time with two men from my past who bring both welcome distraction and unwanted intrusion.

Evan Li, the grumpy mechanic who haunted my teenage fantasies, irritates me with his controlling attitude, while his smoldering good looks only add fuel to my frustration. And then there's Jay Malloy, my former sweetheart who left me broken in high school. He’s still beautiful and still makes my knees weak, but I can’t forget what he did.

But when our small coastal town is evacuated for a potential tsunami, Evan takes his domineering control to the next level, hauling me and my cat to higher ground. To my surprise, he scoops up Jay on our way out of town.

And Jay doesn’t even question it, he just asks us to grab his grandmother, Wanda, too.

When I find out what’s going on between these two, all bets are off. They’ve broken all of my rules, and I’m going to give them a punishment they’ll never forget.

Where we’ll all stand when the dust settles is anyone’s guess.

I am very much thankful this book was selected for me to read. Prior to reading this book, I was able to read about Jay and his grandma, Wanda, briefly within "Praise and Paperbacks". Both of them are a delight to read about. Now for this book imagine your father placing in his will that you and someone whom you believe despises you having 50/50 ownership of a business for the next three years. Tension felt high just on that alone. To me it set up the story in a good way!

I am so mad at this book. And it’s not for the reasons you might think. The story itself actually had potential if there had been any dedication to building out the love story.

With that out of the way … there is no way in hell this book had any kind of editorial review or beta readers and MY GOD it shows.

1) For half the book, the word ‘throuple’ (which is used quite a bit) is spelled ‘thruple.’

2) Each chapter is presented from the first person viewpoint of one of the main characters. Tell me why all of a sudden there are paragraphs in the third person about the character narrating the chapter?! Sloppy.

3) Somewhere between 5-10 chapters had duplicate pages at the end of the chapter, leaving me wondering if my Kindle was malfunctioning. Spoiler alert - it wasn’t. That’s actually how the book was uploaded. WTF.

4) This is a spicy book, so keep that in mind. If the FMC is straddling MMC #1 with her back to MMC #2, I would love to know what kind of Stretch Armstrong arms she has to suddenly be scratching down MMC #2’s back at the same time. There are at least TWO other examples in this book that are literally physically impossible.

5) It honestly feels like some random paragraphs were just copy and pasted together in some places. Like I said, there’s no way a beta reader or even a pseudo-editor read this book. If you’re going to self-publish, at least take it seriously.

I’m sure there’s more I could say but I was honestly rage reading for the last 20% of the book, so I don’t remember. Anyway. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

4.25 stars. Maggie, the female Domme lead, is moving back home after the death of her father, feeling very much alone. She’s surprised to hear that the terms of the will include sharing ownership of her father’s mechanic business with Evan, one male lead, who was both her high school crush and her father’s functionally adopted son. Evan, too, is shocked and disconcerted, being a gruff functional orphan and used to being on his own.

When Maggie runs into Jay, the second male lead and her high school ex-boyfriend, she’s surprised to find that the chemistry between them is still strong and his hug feels like home.

Struggling to negotiate any sort of relationship, let alone the triad that they’re all interested in, they’re thrown together as the evacuate due to a tsunami warning. Being stuck together in a single hotel room might be exactly what they need…

This novella is tri POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, small town, contemporary Domme/subs romance. I adored Maggie’s clear lead in the bedroom. This is, by far, my favourite dynamic and I particularly appreciated that Maggie was both gentle and yet in control. I enjoyed Jay’s awareness of who he was and what he wanted, and his willingness to be vulnerable with his partners. I enjoyed Evan’s growing comfort with sharing his needs with others and being confident that he was genuinely wanted and loved. I enjoyed the relationship development and the erotic intimate scenes. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters and the support they received as a revealing throuple. I hope there’s another story coming for background characters because that should be fun! I adored Jay’s grandmother and her antics.

Double or Nothing is Book 2 of There’s Room for More. It's a short and steamy OTT, MMF, opposites-attract, romance. Maggie is a smart and sassy Dom who has come home after the death of her father. Evan is a hunky, grumpy mechanic who worked with her Dad and her secret crush growing up. Jay is her hunky pansexual ex-boyfriend who broke up with her at the end of high school, but the two are still drawn to each other. When Maggie and Evan are each left 50% of her father's shop, they need to learn to work together. Evan has feelings for Maggie but has resisted and pushed her away for a while. He is also learning that he is bi-sexual and attracted to Jay, too. As these three come together as a throuple, love blooms, and they realize they need each other. I loved the story and the chemistry of the group. On the downside, the book needs some serious editing.

oof okay. the editing on this one is a lot sloppier than the first one. there’s an instance of “two” instead of “to,” there are missing words, there’s a part in the epilogue where the same paragraph is copied and pasted twice, there’s a few times where a slash is used instead of a comma or a period, there’s a part in the end where it’s supposed to be jay’s pov, but it says “jay blushes,” so it loses the thread of whose perspective we’re reading. and there’s a part where a sentence ends with a period, the next sentence goes “The news” and then that’s it. there’s a paragraph break. there’s no punctuation and no end of the sentence.

usually i try not to be a stickler for grammar because i know that even though it’s important to me, it’s also sometimes part of independent books. but in this one, it’s just distracting. there’s just so many mistakes for such a short book that it doesn’t give you a chance to forget about them. this is just begging for another pair of eyes just to give it a quick once-over to catch little things like that.

the story itself is fine, but rushed. evan just realized he might be bisexual two days ago, and maggie is already “domme”-ing him to letting himself get fucked. which is fine, i guess, but there’s just not a lot of thought put into this relationship. evan also makes comments about not being kinky or familiar with the lifestyle, and maggie decides to write them a contract like two weeks later?

also i don’t understand this whole obsession with the contracts. because we get to see like…bits of it? but they talk about limits very generally without listing specifics, which is the opposite of the point of having contracted limits. also if this involves a guy who has very little experience with any sort of formalized kink, then expecting him to even know his limits without thorough discussion and negotiation (which we don’t get to see) is insane.

as always, i love mmf bisexual romances, and seeing jay and evan figure out their relationship within the context of maggie’s relationship is warm and sweet, and i’ll always love reading that. but as a whole, this book could’ve been cleaned up a little, and the characters could’ve had some more depth and care.

wanda seems to be the most fully realized character in this whole series, which also makes her the most fun. if the same level of detail that was used to create her was used to create everyone else, these characters would be a lot more lovable and distinctive.

Had some serious editing issues but I'm reading an arc so I really hope the repeated sections will be removed by publication.

It's a very fast paced story, sometimes tripping over itself. Feels like it was written in a hurry. Everything is insta lust, great for short stories, but very predictable to read.

Just so you know this is pure stroke material. The story is loosely based on Maggie returning to Misty Bay and discovering that old friends Jay and Evan are coming to terms with their bisexuality and their lust for her. When a tsunami warning causes an evacuation they are forced to share a cabin away from town. Maggie's Domme training takes these boys in hand and plenty of mm and mmf action takes place.

The writing improves half way through, as if a different author has taken control. The BDSM scenes are common enough and the whole contract thing so predictable. However, the change in the grown men is strange, their submissiveness now complete after two days of hot sex a bit far fetched, but I guess that's fiction for you! That said, if you're after a seriously smutty story and can tolerate the poor editing to get it, then read away.

Low stars due to editing issues.

At its core this is a great story, just as you would expect from Kristin. I haven’t read any previous books with a dominatrix (not really my cup of tea), so I was surprised that I quite enjoyed this. Though both men snapped to attention when Maggie was in “dom” mode, the love and affection between these three protagonists was palpable once they settled into their roles. Interestingly (though I don’t know if this is possible), Evan suddenly discovers he is bi-sexual and that he fancies Jay. Even more surprising was that Evan was submissive to Maggie but dominant to Jay. How’s that for a dynamic 😊 Maggie was just the right amount of dominant for my taste and so I could relax and let her boss the two guys around without being uncomfortable and to my delight, I found this an unexpectedly perfect relationship.

Editorial Mess

This book was ruined by what appears to be a lack of editorial input. The errors are huge and plentiful. From chapter 2 onwards, almost every chapter has repeated sections. The POV changes mysterially from the person named in the chapter heading, to someone else and back again in a matter of sentences. Some sentences just stop in the middle. There really are too many errors to list.

The storyline wasn’t too bad but difficult to enjoy due to the numerous errors. Really, this book should be pulled and sorted. I got it free as part of a stuff your kindle day but if I had paid for this I would be fuming!!!!

These Three Are Intense!
Maggie is back in Misty Bay, wondering what sort of homecoming to expect, feeling unsettled. Evan does nothing to clear the air - he’s annoyed he and Maggie have to share inheritance of the garage. All that simmering tension is lightened by Jay’s puppy dog enthusiasm and happiness at getting to see Maggie again and explore things with Evan. I loved how these three came together so dramatically and intensely, from uncertain to BOOM! hot and heavy. There’s some great combinations and dynamics in this book, making a steamy STEAMY story. A fantastic read.

An amazing reverse harem story. Maggies father left her half of the garage he owned. The other half went to Evan, a man who hates her . The will said they had to work together. So Evan tolerated Maggie. But he cant keep the attraction he felt for her hidden for long. And when Maggie sees her ex boyfriend Jay and they rekindle their relationship, Evan finds out he is Bi and attracted to Jay as well. But will Evan finally let go of hate and find his happily ever after? Loved reading this story. Thanx.

Maggie moves back to Misty Bay after the death of her father to discover she is sharing ownership of her dad’s garage with Evan. Evan was an orphan taken in by Maggie’s dad. They needed to work together for the good of their business but both were struggling with the feelings they had for each other. Jay is Maggie’s high school boyfriend who she is still drawn to, only he and Evan also have a connection. Sweet, steamy story with amazing chemistry, love, romance, a dominant heroine and a wonderful HEA.

This was a fun read and is told with lots of emotions, heart and heat. Maggie, home after her father's death, reunites with both Even and Jay. They all have issues and I love how they worked through them, leading them to a wonderful and steamy HEA. I especially loved Wanda, Jay's Gma. She was so supportive and really just such a hoot! All together, this made for an engaging read that I had a hard time putting down. Good fun!

I enjoyed this book. I love natural disaster movies, so that aspect of the story from the blurb drew me in. The other is that I love MMF romances. I liked Jay, Evan, and Maggie and the chemistry between them. I liked their dynamic and how things worked for them in the bedroom. I also loved Jay's grandmother, Wanda. She was fun!

If you had read the first book of the series, this continues the theme. Wanda, the grandmother, is a hilarious character and very supportive in everyone finding their happiness. This was a fun read and I hope the next one will be of a certain bar owner.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. While what brings Maggie home is sad, she and the others do recover. I like how an evacuation alert finally brings things to head with a bit of help from a wrong to go bag grabbed. Maggie, Jay and Evan act on their desires and start a relationship they all want. They find happiness and love with each other.

Overall I did enjoy the book but boy was there some errors in this book and spoiler alert there was massive errors in the first book of this series also.

How am I reading from Jay’s POV and then suddenly the sentence ends with Gunnar said…ehh not even the half of the mistakes.

If you can get past that then it’s a good read

This is a fun fast paced read. It follows Maggie, Evan and Jay. It is sweet second chance small town romance. I enjoyed the multi-POVs and the secondary characters. It could do well with a bit of editing but overall it was an enjoyable read

The editing of this book is just bad. Several chapters just repeat, wrong character names were used and there was a lot of spelling/grammar errors. I don’t think anyone tried to edit this book at all. Hopefully the author fixes all the mistakes because it really takes away from the story.

This was a fun poly read . I liked it . Did it have the same formula as the last book ?? Yes. Did I care? No. I mean there’s no 3rd act breakup so . Anyways like I loved this book. It was the perfect short read to read after reading full length books recently .

I really enjoyed this second book as well! Maggie returns to her hometown after her father passes away to take over the family company, only to find the boy who grew up with them, who her father took under his wing, refuses to let her take control. She reconnects with her high school boyfriend, and when a tsunami warning comes through town, the three of them end up spending a few days together that lead them all to realizing how they all really feel about each other. I love Wanda and her antics. I loved these three finding each other and how they learned more about themselves and each other. This was so much fun!

I loved this book so much. Despite being short there's a lot of story packed into this book. There's so many big emotions and lovely moments. Kristen has a phenomenal way of writing poly romances that have a really relatable cast.
