Having defeated the first harbinger, Petra must face off against her sister, a Lightborn warrior of terrifying strength and fighting prowess.
But before she can get to that, she needs to track down a fae shimmer who’s been stealing children and using them to fuel her dark gift.
Then there’s the matter of Petra’s stollen past, the fact that the Crown still won’t release details of what happened when she first came to the Hallowed World, and her newfound responsibilities as team leader for the weirdest group of Crown consultants since the Doom Patrol.

In this second book I grew tired of all the different Tricksters tests. The tests, became tedious to the point that I started skimming the paragraphs to just get past them. I'm hoping this isn't a harbinger of the authors next book or a new writing style.
I want more of the group dynamics, interactions and a more fleshed out Fenris. A relationship is mentioned, yet he's said a smattering of words in two books. How has a relationship formed with so little said or done? Fenris feels more like an after thought to the plot, not a secondary love interest character.
I do enjoy the concept and the new worlds but...Lets hope book three is better. I'm an avid reader, going through 300+ books a year, I was hoping to add this author to my regulars..we shall see.
So far, I'm really enjoying the story. There's a lot going on. The world is very well developed but the characters not so much. However, I've learned a little more every time. This book seemed a little long winded with details of the world and not enough the characters. I do wish it moved faster. The pace is slow. There are starting to be some grammar issues. I'm hoping that clears up.
The first book really needed proofing, as there were quite a few spelling errors and words used incorrectly. But it was interesting enough that I continued to the second book. This one I couldn’t even finish. Same grammar/spelling/clarity errors as the first book, but also a plot that feels random and unrelated to the underlying arc of the series. I just couldn’t lose myself in the story, which is normally something that is easy for me.
Nice second installment...no rest for the wicked. Petra continues chasing targets for The Crown as she waits for the second harbinger to show face. And when that finally happens, she needs all her wits (and friends) around her. Awesome world building, crazy characters and lots of action. keep them coming!
I'm getting tired of too many self-reflection dialogues that are then repeated again in just a few pages. Need better editing, but I am still interested in the book.
