Can old dreams find new life amongst sparkling tinsel and twinkling lights?
Virginia defied the odds to make nearly all of her girlhood wishes come true. Except for one. She’s spent decades doing work she’s loved alongside a supportive husband. Now health struggles and languishing sales at her beloved bookstore threaten more than her livelihood. Walking away would be the practical thing to do, but Virginia isn’t a practical woman.
Nathan needs to figure out his life. College graduation is looming, and he should be in the job hunt, but his dreams don’t include cubicles or corporate ladders. He’d rather help Virginia and her husband make the most of this holiday shopping season. If he can’t help turn things around, their life’s work will fade away.
When a chance discovery unearths Virginia’s biggest regret, can she finally summon the courage to try again, or is it too late? Will things fall into place, or will it all fall apart? It feels impossible, but no one should underestimate the magic of the season.
Capturing Wishes, the fourth book in Kimberly Diede’s uplifting Gift of Whispering Pines series, will take you on a heartfelt exploration of new and old loves, fresh and forgotten dreams, and the inevitable perks of different perspectives.
The pull of Whispering Pines continues. Whether you are new here or eager to continue on your journey with this refreshing circle of family and friends, you deserve the gift of this feel-good story. It will remind you we never outgrow the power of a wish.
Kimberly Diede writes contemporary and historical novels that weave together family, friends, hope, and romance. She writes family sagas, suspense, and women’s fiction that you’ll find hard to put down. She truly believes we are never too old for second chances at love and life.
Kimberly has always lived in the Midwest and enjoys spending the short summer months on the lakeshores of Minnesota and North Dakota. Nothing is better than time with family at the cabin. Her love of tradition and all things vintage comes through in her stories.
In a world too often filled with sadness and tragedy, her mission is to offer stories of optimism and hope. If she can keep you reading past your bedtime, she has accomplished what she set out to do. As a life-long reader, she loves to get lost in the pages of a great book and strives to give you the same experience.
Kimberly Diede has written another good story only this time it focuses on Christmas and Valentine's Day. A good book for anyone to read about the true meaning of Christmas, Valentine's Day and the importance of the love of our family and friends.
A truly sweet story about a college student who takes a job in a bookstore because of the bonus of an apartment in which to live, but winds up pouring his whole self into making sure the store survives. There's a mystery involving a possible intruder, and a subplot involving an unpublished novel hidden in an old desk. Nathan's relationship with the elderly couple who owns the store is uplifting. A very enjoyable read.
I have immensely enjoyed every one of the Celia's Gifts series. It was all well written. Nice to read about a large wonderful family -- about each of the nephew and nieces own family problems and romances. And this last one that I just finished about a young mother who was taken in by Celia was another wonderful story difficult to put down. To all prospective readers reading this review, you won't regret reading any of the Celiac gift series.
It's a good little book. The story is sweet , 20 something Nathan helps 60 something Ginny realize her dream of becoming a published author.
I don't think the characters are very deeply written and I read it as a "Christmas" story and it didn't really have enough Christmas for that. But it was worth the read, just not at Christmas, especially in the bleak 2020 holiday season. I will be reading book 1 in the series though.
I love reading books that build on others. Each story continues and reflects on the past but you really don’t have to have read the other books. But I recommend you read them in order. All the characters intertwine and are really interesting and fun. I look forward to the next book. I really can’t put them down easily.
Picked this up after the Christmas season...it allowed me to relive the season thru the eyes of dreamers. The novel reassured me that it is never too late to reach for your dreams. Sometimes we need a little nudge as Nathan have to Virginia. Well done - it may be an annual read!
I LOVED this book. The characters are relatable, the story is heartwarming with some mystery, family, romance, all tied together. It’s a fast, easy, feel good read. Perfect holiday book.
I love all the characters and how they connect with each other. I enjoy how the story is real life but with a touch of mystery, sweetness, and compassion mixed in!
The author has such an imagination to pull you right in to the scene and atmosphere. You really feel like you are living the holiday. All of the different gifts are so exciting to see too! This book was a joy to read. Looking forward to the next!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I wish I could have owned a bookstore or worked in one as a college kid. The suspense was fun. I loved the ideas Nathan came up with for the bookstore to flourish. It was such a sweet, romantic, fun story to read. Wish I was there!
This was an incredible down to earth read novel …it puts you into peoples lives as if they were right in front of you having coffee…clean cut and human… I did find that Nathan lamenting his father was a bit lengthy.. Otherwise..well done… Nell
Kimberly is an amazing author! I cannot tell you how much my heart has been impacted by her books. I have dreams now that I never realized I had before.
This is the fourth book in this series and I loved this one just as much as the first. I have become invested in the main characters and their stories. Hoping to hear Val's story next!
