All Orah wanted was to discover what lay behind the hidden garden door, but when it inadvertently traps her in the Land of Gods, she finds more than she bargained for. Now stuck in this new world, she must decide if she can unlock the power necessary to get her home. To do so, she will have to reckon not only with the Gods threatening her but also with the darkest parts of herself. Can she make peace with her past, and can she take on an equally terrifying allowing herself to fall in love?

Roan never expected the intriguing woman who stumbled into his garden. Nor did he expect the Fates to call forth the challenge he’s spent his life running from. While forced to face his birthright, he must also search for a way to return Orah to her own world before her power is detected by the monsters in his. As he strives to get her home, he finds himself questioning if he can and, against his better judgment, if he wants to. Leaning on those closest to him and fighting his own painful past, Roan must decide if he can accept who he is to help protect those he loves.

I was a beta reader & proofreader for this book, so I got to read it early. I absolutely LOVED this book.

A garden door leads to the joining of two people from different worlds. Orah, a mortal from Earth, and Roan, a Governing God from Comas, are forced to figure out the powers at play when their worlds collide, leading to a series of events that will alter both of their lives forever. Fair warning, the ending of this book will WRECK you. I am still not over it.

This debut novel is the first of a series and I highly recommend it if you love the fantasy genre. Threads of Fate is a slow burn romance set in a magical setting, and has mental health rep & LGBTQIA+ rep. The author did a great job of world building in a way that was not overwhelming or confusing. I enjoyed every moment of it.

There are some potentially triggering topics, so please check the content warnings page if you have topics you wish to avoid.

What just happened? Jaw Drop.

I just finished reading and I am not okay.

This is a masterfully written novel and to know it's just the beginning is A M A Z I N G!

Firstly, the story arc is so good. There is a HUGE surprise at the end which you don't see coming. It is a complete shock and awe moment. The development of the world takes it time, not in an agonizing way, but with just the right amount of building at the right moment for the main character.

The FMC, Orah, goes through a journey from France to the world behind the door in the garden. She has many complex emotions which many relate to facing her past to find her truth. Orah learns she has power. Power to make choices. Power to move forward. Power from the Gods. She has only just begun to explore all that she is and will be. I am most excited for her continued growth!
The MMC, Roan, is everything. He has his own baggage to work through, but, oh my goodness. His world quite literally and figuratively collides with Orah's...and it is so worth the wait.
The secondary characters are also so meaningful and important to the development of the story and the other characters. They really drive the conflict and make a BANG in the end. Also, huge kudos to the reader for having LGBTQIA+ representation in main secondary characters. It is so wonderful to see relationships of all kinds play out in the book.

Anyway, back to the ending....YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT COMING. That is all.

I can't wait for book 2 later this year. There are so many ways this story could end up and I am here for all of them. You need this book!

If you have triggers, please read the trigger warnings as there are some scenes which some might want to be forewarned about.

CW: trauma, death of family, spice, some violence, some others.

A massive thank you to the author for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team! “Threads of Fate” releases June 1, 2024!

Prepare to start this book and then just not move until you’ve finished it because, trust me, it’s that good.

When Orah decides to purchase a French chateau to start her life over, the last thing she expects is to find a locked gate in her new garden. Even less expected is that the gate leads to another world, full of gods and mythical creatures, and that the very first thing she’d do is run headlong into one of those gods. Specifically, the God of Nyte. It is his garden, after all. But…how’s she going to get home?

Do y’all know how long it’s been since I found a book that made me intentionally want to read it slower because I wanted to savor every line? A really, really long time. I’ve read some amazing stories that I just couldn’t walk away from, but this book is the kind that you dread finishing because you know you’re immediately going to miss it. It makes you want to throw yourself headlong at the fictional world screaming, “wait I wasn’t done, let me back in!”

I could start anywhere with this book and have an incredible amount of things to say, but since everything has to start somewhere, I’ll start with the characters. The story is told in the 3rd person, but with two focal characters: Orah, our FMC, and Roan, our MMC. The bulk of the book focuses on Orah, so we’ll start with her. This FMC is incredible. She’s got tons of baggage and her story is going to break your heart, but she’s so incredibly strong because of everything. Fierce and funny, Orah wields her wit and determination like sledgehammers. Despite that, she never comes off as cruel, or callous, or mean. She’s got boundaries, and you’re going to respect them no matter who you are, but it’s not abrasive. Roan, our MMC, is every bit as humorous and clever as Orah. He’s kind and gentle, but he never gives ‘doormat’ vibes. He feels safe, and it radiates off the page. Their dynamic is immaculate; the banter is delightful and the mutual respect?! Love it. Let’s not forget our side characters though— the secondary cast is jam-packed with people you’re going to adore (or maybe loathe, depending on who we’re referencing). The relationships there all come together to make something that feels strangely like home.

The plot and the world building combine to make something amazing, but I’ll start with the world building. While the story starts off in modern-day France, the setting quickly shifts to the land of Comas. The Land of the Gods, this realm is the perfect blend of fantasy and real world, in my humble opinion. It’s got magical modern amenities while retaining that fantasy charm so many of us know and love. Every little detail just adds to how much this realm comes to life, and I don’t think I’ve fallen in love with a fantasy world quite so hard in ages. It’s beautiful, it’s vibrant, and it’s comforting. Every little piece of it joins with those characters I was talking about to make this world feel so solid and real. Like the people inhabiting it, the world feels like home.

At long last, this just leaves the story itself to discuss. I don’t actually know where to begin, because I want to start everywhere, all at once. This book rides the line perfectly of plot-driven versus character-driven, and it makes for an incredibly engaging story. I absolutely could not bring myself to put it down until my contacts dried out completely and forced me to stop, and even then it was a close call. Somehow, though, the closer I got to the end, the slower I wanted to read. I wasn’t ready for it to be over (and I was even less ready after that ending). While a large portion of the story focuses on the dynamic between our two MCs, I never found myself losing focus or interest. I frequently found myself chuckling quietly when one or the other said something snarky, and I think at one point I actually stomped my feet up and down on my chair (I’ll let you read to determine if this was because of rage or the giggles; both are viable options). I know for a fact that I cried at least once. It’s not often that a book can produce such a wide range of emotions for me without leaving me totally exhausted at the end, but this one made it look easy.

In case it wasn’t clear, I loved this book. It’s a beautiful, intriguing story, full of people and places that welcome you in like they were waiting for you. The magic and the storyline combine to make this one of my top reads of the year, and I don’t usually rank my reads like that. If you love tales of other worlds, romance, rage, magic, and stories that soothe your soul while making your heart race, then this is one you need to check out as soon as possible.

After being thrown into the Land of Gods, getting back to Earth seems impossible for Orah, especially when she finds friendship, magic and love in this beautiful realm. The slow burn had me on the edge of my seat with every look Orah and Roan (who will totally be your new book boyfriend) shared. I really felt like I knew every person, even the side characters, and I admired that LGBTQ+ characters were not just included but highlighted in a way that wasn’t forced. I cried as I felt seen in Orah’s depression. Our heroine has real emotions and I loved reading her encounters with letting herself feel and overcome personal darkness. This book will have you feeling all of things- joy, sadness, intrigue, anger, lust. Where many new fantasy worlds can be overwhelming to imagine, this one was not. The settings were consistent which helped solidify them in my mind. The characters felt real and I was not ready to say goodbye to them at the end of the book. I am so glad it’s a series so it’s not goodbye forever. I loved this book and will be reading it again soon because I know the reread is going to be even better than the first.

Threads of Fate would be great read for new and seasoned fantasy readers alike. If you love slow build tension (that pays off for the wait, trust me) then you will definitely be a fan. Seriously, add this to your TBR - you won’t be disappointed!

Thank you to the author C.A. Blooming for an early eARC copy of Threads of Fate. I truly love this amazing world and people you have created.

10/10 Recommend!

This book was amazing! The world building was not overwhelming and it kept me interested the entire time. This book is very fast paced and I read it in a day. The ending was jaw dropping. I cannot wait for book 2 at the end of this year!

An absolute, cannot overstate this enough, must read!

I’m not even sure what to compare this with because the emotional journey is unlike anything out there that I’ve come across. You think you know where it’s going, you’re rooting for Orah to get home after she gets trapped in this beautiful but dangerous world of the gods, then you don’t want her to go home, but what happens… What happens… I can’t give any spoilers!!!! The twists! How does a book not officially even published yet instantly rank among my all time favorite books? The fantasy book industry is not ready for this author. Out of the gate with her debut novel and I rank it top read of the year. Very top.

These comparisons don’t even do it justice but think Throne of Glass meets Chronicles of Narnia or 10th Kingdom meets Outlander might be more apt, but the world, the world just sucks you in and makes you need to live there! Where can I find this garden door? I’ll pack my bags. I mean it. Right now. You just can’t put this book down, and it will have you worrying, then cheering which will turn to screaming, then uncontrolled crying, then curling your toes, then back to cheering again, before devastating you, and WHY is the 2nd book not out already? Why?

This is an ARC so this 1st book won’t even hit shelves until June 2024…. I need the next book. The author has announced book 2 for end of year so that’s good. I need a time machine because now I won’t be able to stop thinking about this book all summer. Make your year, make this author’s year and put Threads of Fate at the top of your TBR. I just can’t with this book. I can’t. It’s THAT GOOD!

Make sure you’re alright with adult content and being devastated before you start this book or you’ll never forgive yourself. Also, budget for book two now before you start. I’m telling you. You’ll have to buy the next one. It won’t even be a question. Just an expense like groceries, or rent, or heart medication… UGH. YES. Just YES. I laughed, and cheered, and cried so many times, but I NEED MORE.

For anyone who has struggled with depression since childhood and used books for escape at darker points in life, it’s rare to feel like the heroine in your book is feeling how you’ve felt, and had to claw her way back from “the grey” into feeling and living again when life just keeps trying to break her, like it has tried to break you in your own life. I was not prepared for how real and relatable Orah is. A masterpiece in realism wrapped in fantasy. To C.A. Blooming. Thank you for being courageous enough to represent us that struggle daily with mental health and seek adventure as our way to cope.

Even being devastated by the end of your book, you still left me feeling hope for what future books may hold for the characters and how they will overcome. I’m not sure how you did that while simultaneously ripping out my heart, but I needed that hope. I think we all do. I’d also like to say you represented several communities beautifully that don’t generally get much page time in mainstream fantasy. Courageous in so many ways and fearless in your willingness to represent. Thank you for that too. You’re changing lives. Please don’t stop.

And book two cannot be here soon enough!!!!

ARC Review 📚

Orah is just trying to start over. A new country. A new house. But when a mysterious door in her new garden sends her sprawling into the arms of a handsome stranger in a realm of magic and gods? It might be more change than she had bargained for. Threads of Fate is CA Blooming’s fantasy debut that merges a slow burn romance with epic adventure.

The book starts off in France, somewhere I’ve always dreamed of visiting and Courtney’s writing made me feel like I was there! The characters and new world are described so well, it was easy to picture and envision. I also laughed at the little touches, like the FMC, Orah, trying and loving all the food in the new world! I loved how strong and capable she was, and how authentic her flaws were.

Threads has some amazing found family elements and the relationship building was excellent! I loved seeing the dynamics across the varying characters, and especially between the main love interests. The banter was great and there were so many hilarious one liners! I also loved the small details that conveyed the depth of emotion between them. The slow burn was truly slow, which I am a huge fan of!

As easy as it was to get into, where this book really got me was the second half. It was unputdownable from about 60% on. I pretty much white knuckled the last 20% also, you may have heard by now, but THAT ENDING. I am gutted. Crushed. Thank goodness book 2 isn’t too long of a wait!!!

I am so happy to have gotten to read an ARC of this one- thank you Courtney!! It was a solid debut and I am excited for where the rest of the series! If you like Outlander, modern meets fantasy, slow burn, and being emotionally devastated, you should check this one out!

DNF at 35%,

The beginning of Threads of Fate was captivating, immediately drawing me into the story. The opening chapters were engaging and full of promise.

However, once the protagonist entered the other realm, the story's quality declined. The worldbuilding was done through monotonous question-and-answer sessions between Orah and Roan, which I found dull. I prefer a more immersive exploration of the world rather than having everything explained directly.

The narrative dragged as Orah spent over 100 pages in Roan's mansion, bored and engaging in mundane activities like shopping and exercising. This focus on trivialities made the story lose its momentum and my interest waned.

With a growing TBR list, I decided to put this book aside for now. I might give it another try in the future, but currently, I prefer to start something more engaging.

This book is so good!!! It had me laughing, and crying throughout the whole thing. I loved Orah as a character. She’s going through so much mentally and watching her work through her very difficult past is heartbreaking but also so empowering. It’s a great story about how anyone can overcome trauma. I’m going to need book two ASAP!!!

4.5 stars - I enjoyed this! The plot moved well and it always made me want to keep picking the book back up. The end threw me for a loop and now I'm wondering if I missed hints or something because what lmao.

“I know my brother doesn’t run his Region as is expected, but it is customary to bow to the Governing Gods.” “I’m not one for customs,” she replied with a shrug.

“For what it’s worth, Orah. If we do get you home—I will spend the rest of my life searching for a way to find you again.”

'She could have been a top student if there had ever been a class in bullshit 101.'

4.5 [rounded up]- Amazing debut by C.A. Blooming! She delivered a captivating story with an interesting world & magic system that felt comfortingly familiar but unique all at the same time.

*Came back to edit this review 3 weeks after finishing because it's still on my mind and that reason alone bumps my rating up.*

What I loved:
- The world-building was intricate but digestible. I am so intrigued by this world and the different regions and hope to explore more of it in future books.
- The characters - I felt the author was very deliberate in her writing of these characters. There were times I didn't like Orah but it seemed intentional until we learned more of her backstory.
- Trauma/grief representation - Won't say much about this to avoid spoilers but I really liked the authors way of moving the characters through such difficult but relatable feelings and experiences.
- The slow burn - there were so many times I wanted to metaphorically grab Orah and Roan and do the whole "now kiss!" thing but I also enjoyed the banter, tension and teasing leading up to the big moment.
- Roan's one-liners and little quips - forever making me smirk and blush

What I didn't love:
- Pacing - I think there were some issues with pacing and times where it felt like nothing was happening vs. times when it felt like everything was happening at once.
- Orah's acceptance of literally stumbling into another realm - She seemed to accept this far too quickly. HOWEVER, my gut tells me there are bigger things at play here that contribute to this.
- The training - I would have liked to see a little bit more of Orah's training and her 'unlocking her power'. It sort of felt like she went from not having power to having a lot of power and being able to wield and control it.

This does end on a pretty brutal cliffhanger but there's no doubt I will be continuing this series. Overall, I loved it!

*I received an eARC from the author. This review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.*

I had the pleasure of arc reading this book and am so happy I did.

Threads of fate is such a unique concept, I was sucked into the story right away and unable to stop thinking about it until I finished... and then have continued to think about it afterwards.

I absolutely loved the premise of the secret garden door in-between worlds, and a shadow daddy who doesn't open up to people on the other side. Except you know, for the girl who literally walked into him from another world. I am dying to learn more about the world - I want to see all the lands, learn about them all, and see what they are like. I also need to know what happens in book 2 because I am not dealing with what happened in book 1 until I make sure it all actually turned out OK.

One of my favorite parts was the slow burn. It was super realistic that she was resistant to falling for someone she most likely would never see again, and I liked that. I also hated it because I wanted them to get together sooner, but it was good writing.

I also loved the training with Jes. This whole story line of her getting stronger and working on her powers, working through her trauma, it was just fantastic. I am a sucker for an FMC who wants to take control of her life, get strong, learn her powers, and kick some butt.

The ending was a lot, and I didn't particularly like it (for obvious reasons once you read it), so I hope we get to undo or change what happened - otherwise I may never recover.

Overall, I feel like we are set up for so much action and plot and twists in book 2, and I cannot wait to see what happens.

“I wasn’t lying when I told you I would find a way to search every world until I found you again, Orah.”

I knew it. I get a feeling with certain books where you just know it’s going to be amazing. That’s how I felt with this book. The cover alone would be enough to make me buy it because I’m a sucker for pretty covers, but I just knew inside those pages was going to be such a great story.
(Hence why I spent over nine hours guessing C.A. blooming’s coffee order to win an annotated copy before I even read it.Totally worth it btw.)

The story is really well written. I loved getting lost in the Land Of Gods, the ease in the beginning before the other world building started was a nice way to start. I loved that we got to learn a little about Orah and her life before we got into all the details. There was a lot to remember about the Gods and their world but it wasn’t hard to follow because of the way it was written. The plot itself is so good, I loved everything from the pacing of the story to the slow burning tension that I could literally FEEL while I was reading.

Our main characters are amazing, I love love love our fmc Orah. She is so relatable in so many ways but mainly how the author wasn’t afraid to show her fmc struggling mentally. She showed us in this book that it is okay to not be okay and that is such a powerfully written deeper message that not a lot of books contain. Watching Orah’s character development throughout the book was so satisfying because I loved seeing her turn into this badass woman that you know was just hidden inside waiting to come out. Forever rooting for our girl, and I can’t wait to see more of her.

Lahana, I loved her. She’s a badass, she’s a good sister and a great friend. She looks out for those she loves. She can do no wrong in my eyes, she was one of my favorite characters in this book. Her friendship with Orah was one of my favorite book friendships that I’ve read and I adore her so much.

Roan is such a cinnamon roll book boyfriend. He is so sweet and protective and does anything he can to help Orah. He is the biggest walking green flag/sweetest baby angel that must be protected at all costs. Absolutely loved him, can’t get enough of him.

Jesiel… You’re going to have to form your own opinion of him.

This book is literally a whole vibe in itself. It’s going to make you happy, it’s going to break you, then put you back together again just to throw something else at you. I literally was going to vomit out my heart in those last few chapters. I had a great time reading it, it always had my attention, and overall I just really enjoyed it. I’m super excited for book two, and can’t wait to see where this series takes us.

Now excuse me while this book becomes my whole personality for a while because I literally can’t stop thinking about it.

If you love:
Banter
Found Family
Strangers To Lovers
SLOW BURN
Forced Proximity
Discovered Powers
Then run and grab this book, hop on this roller coaster with us, and buckle up for a wild ride.

I really enjoyed this as my first ARC read! It had really good world building and the ending was not what I was expecting at all!

I think some items could have been cut to create even more room for a more intense ending, but over all 4.2 ⭐️ read!

I loved Orah! She was such a strong FMC! Ro was also such an amazing MMC! I loved every bit of their relationship/not relationship story❤️

Lahana is easily my favorite side character she brought so much joy to the book!

Threads of Fate by C.A Blooming

I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for this amazing book!

I can honestly say I absolutely loved the chokehold this book had on me, the banter between all the characters was one of my favorites. The story felt realistic as if this could really happen to anyone! The world building and map was fantastic, the characters felt real. I loved the growth of the characters especially the MFC the things she has to overcome and face were amazingly done. The magical system was very unique as well as the characters, animal, and land descriptions. The Gods in this book were well explained as well as their back history. The emotional trauma was done so perfectly I had to take a couple of breaks to get through it. It actually makes you feel as if you are there. So please read the trigger warnings! The slow burn in this book, MAN I tell you is so so good with all the banter that comes with it! Ahhh, chef’s kiss! So worth the wait!
So if you love a great lightly dark romantasy this book is for you!! I felt so many emotions reading this it was great! It does have a cliffhanger but I promise it is so worth the read!! It has amazing representation of LGBQ, mental health, and healing.

Orah is a mortal woman who can sense death. She felt when her mother passed and she felt when her father passed and can feel if someone is close to passing as well.
After her father passes she cuts ties with her life in America to have a fresh new start in France at the Château she found and bought. While exploring her new garden she finds a door. Not just any door, a door that’s about to turn her whole life upside down! It takes a lot of effort just to get it open and when she does she steps through it and runs smack into the most beautiful man she’s ever met.
Not just any man, no a God.
Now faced with being trapped in a world she knows nothing about she is forced to work with this God to get herself back home.

Roan is a Governing God of Comas who is forced to face his birthright of a challenge by the fates. Not only does he have to prepare for that he must work with and protect this mortal Orah.
Whom just happen to walk through his very heavily warded garden door, to find a way to get her back through the door, so she can be safe back home on Earth before the monsters detect Orah. Roan must decide if he can accept and trust who he truly has been destined to become to help and protect the ones he loves.
They must work together to overcome their painful pasts and find the power within their self’s to face the challenges they are forced deal with.
Will they find the power within themselves? Will they be able to trust each other? Could love actually set them free?

This was altogether a wonderful read, but hold up, FIRST OF ALL—THAT ENDING?! Excuse me but how DARE YOU???? I’m still reeling so this review is charged with chaotic energy, please proceed with caution!

From her struggles with depression to her preference for scalding hot baths, I found Orah to be the most relatable kind of bada** FMC. And then there’s Roan, omg—he is DOWN BAD and beyond obsessed with Orah and I love him so freaking much. I love that he’s the literal God of Nyte but when it comes to his queen he’s made of cinnamon roll dough.

If there’s one thing I yearn for in a romantasy is a slowburn build up to the spicy scenes, and WE GOT IT Y’ALL—it was everything. Also, let me just tell y’all, the found family is STRONG in this one and I needed this trope something fierce. I found the character dynamics in this story to be well developed, believable, and super compelling.

What to Expect:
—He Falls First & Hard
—Touch Her & D!e
—Forced Proximity
—Found Family
—LGBTQIA+ Rep
—Mental Health Rep
—Mysterious Powers
—Surprise Ending

Out-of-Context Microtropes (possibly spoilery):
—He can sense her emotions (think Casteel from FBAA)
—Bathing scene where he washes her hair
—He has her dream gown custom made, only to rip it off her later

Huge thanks to the author for sending me a gorgeous hardcover copy of the book! All thoughts and opinions expressed above belong entirely to me.

ARC review

Rating: 5/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

I was blessed by Courtney with this book as an arc reviewer. Let me tell you. You indie authors are just blowing my mind!! Indie authors are so underrated, please please read this book.

Tropes are romantasy, one bed, discovered powers, dual POV, strangers to lovers, found family, and slow burn! (The slow burn is worth the wait, trust me).

This book follows Orah, a mortal who stumbles upon a door in her garden that she’s drawn too. This door takes her to another world. Orah bumps into a man (a winged man) named Roan. This world is full of magic, heartache, and beauty. Orah is trying to find her way back home, while Roan is preparing for his second challenge against his brother in which he is loathing entirely. This second challenge will determine Roan’s fate of what he is to rule. Roan and Orah are battling their inner demons, but can they overcome them?

Roan is my new book BF, and I know he’ll be yours too.

This book has some CW’s, mental health is addressed and grief. This book was written beautifully and I will honestly read anything Courtney writes. (I have told her this as well).

You will not regret reading her book! I could not stop thinking about this book, to the point I was dreaming about it.

I cannot even begin to say how much I loved reading this! The banter between all of the characters is amazing. The dialogue is realistic and not strained like some other books that I have read. Roan is officially going into my list of book boyfriends. Love him. The ending had me clutching my chest and screaming. I cannot wait for book 2!

I loved the characters and world building in this book, and really enjoyed my time reading it.
That being said, it’s pretty heavy-handed in its inspiration from ACOTAR with some of the characters, and I would love to be an editor to clean up a lot of the sentence structure.
But at the end of the day, I loved being in the land of Comas and I’m excited to read the sequel.

Just finished reading the book as an ARC reader. I absolutely loved the world that C.A. Blooming created and I hope we get to see more of it in the next book. I loved the growth you see from the FMC throughout the story and it was a breath of fresh air to see how the author handled the FMC’s mental health and traumas. The slow burn in this book had me kicking my feet, it was torturously good but you aren’t left waiting until the next book for something more to happen. Like with most romantasies now, you’re left on a huge cliffhanger that might make you want to throw the book but will have you craving the next one. I cannot wait to find out what’s in store for our main characters.

This book is my new Roman Empire. I started and finished it in one day because of how well it is written and the story is so addicting. It is a two POV story of fate and mental health/trauma healing. C.A Blooming has created a stunning world in which these characters grow and thrive. There is magic whose system seems to be “new” in the romantasy genre. This first book does not go in depth on how magic and powers are gifted/bestowed upon the characters, I am hoping that in the coming novels or novellas we are able to learn a little more about the magic system.

If you are the type of person who likes to feel all your emotions in a book, well let me tell you… You better have a box of tissues and a pillow to scream/rage into handy while reading this book. I have never felt so much emotion so quickly when reading a story and boy howdy I was quite literally screaming through my tears at the end of this book. The cliffhanger is one for the ages and it is done very well.

This is a slow burn, but when it heats up boy does it heat up. There is a ton of tension between the FMC and the MMC, but their joining is sure to make your windows rattle.

I am so grateful to have been a part of the ARC team for this book and I am looking forward to returning to the Land of the Gods. These are my honest thoughts on this book and will be recommending it to everyone I can think of who would enjoy the story.

My jaw was left on the floor, I was gasping, I was angry, and of course I had to read the first chapter of the second book (included at the end) and it had me crying. I’m willing to admit I walked into this book with all the warnings from the author to brace myself, but I was cocky. I THOUGHT I’d walk away and be like, “It was cool, but I wasn’t caught off guard.” I was wrong! I was wrong, okay? I was intrigued from the beginning and was so curious to see what would happen next.

I will say there were a few expressions and descriptive words that were used on repeat throughout and there were times I felt a little more polishing could have happened. I personally dislike when the chapter lengths are a huge variety of lengths and this book had them ranging all over it felt like, and I found myself having to stop and reorient myself when the POV would switch mid chapter. The pacing of the book felt like it wasn’t consistent, and for these reasons, I was going to rate it as a 3. However, when I tell you the ending made me so excited to get the second book in my hands, I genuinely mean it. So because of the way it ended, I think it bumped it up to a 3.75 for me (4 in the places I can’t rate partial stars.)
