Just finished A.J Knight’s Chasing Starfire and I’m hooked! This why-choose fae fantasy has such lovable characters and a gripping story. Estelle, a seemingly ordinary girl raised by her foster mother, only has a silver bracelet as a link to her real mother—until a thief steals it. Enter the city guards, Bram and Faeryn, who step in to help. What starts as a routine day quickly turns upside down as Estelle discovers her life isn’t as simple as it seems. The trio’s journey leads them to a bond much deeper than protectors and protectee. Full of passion, strong connections, and just the right amount of spice, Chasing Starfire is an absolute page-turner. Can’t wait to see where Estelle’s journey takes her next in The Solsterian Series Book 2!
I don't even know where to begin. This is such a hard to put down book. Easily read. Shorter compared to most but that doesn't mean it's lacking in anyway! This is mildly spicy compared to most of my reading, however I'd say 3 🌶 out of 5. This book is a heartfelt and heartbreaking (yes heartbreaking) coming into your life and your purpose story. It's a romantasy with lots of magic and fae also handsome fae and human men. It's easy to get enraptured in the characters and begin to feel for them, it's MMF romance (Why Choose) and wonderfully done. The witty banter is well worth the read as well. When I say you have to prepare for this book you absolutely do. The turns and twists are absolutely unexpected and I wasn't ready. I don't think anyone is ready for that.
This book grabbed me from the beginning, which can sometimes be difficult for me. That's how I knew immediately I would love this book. This book had wonderful world-building and character development. It takes place in various fantasy worlds involving fae and beings with magical powers. If you enjoy a less spicy reverse harem/why choose, then this book will completely deliver. There are spicy scenes, but they are not overdone and are written very well. I experienced a gamut of emotions through this book, and finished it in less than 24 hours, as I simply didn't want to put it down. I highly, highly recommend any romantasy lover read A.J. Knight!!!
Good god, I have to collect my thoughts on this one.
Now, if you say the magic words “why choose” and “romantasy” I am immediately in no questions asked. Not only does it deliver on the delicious “why choose” scenario but the plot of this book ensnared my attention right from the get go.
The world building was well done without being overwhelming like some traditional fantasy can be.
I liked that we jumped pretty much straight into the story, I appreciate that in a book. When there’s A LOT of build up I tend to get bored in the beginning, so I appreciate that we got the info we needed and then jumped straight into it.
I absolutely ADORED Bram and Faeryn. They perfectly balance each other. Bram is light and fluffy, and Ryn is dark and broody.
I really liked Estelle and I think we have much more to learn about her
The only thing that I would have liked to see would have been a BIT more *tension* build up before the scene with the Alerock (IYKYK) 😏 BUT if I were in Estelle’s shoes I mean….same girl. Take what you want baby.
I actually shed many tears reading the last few chapters. Absolutely heartbreaking and I may not ever recover.
Overall the writing was well done and the pace flowed well. There weren’t any parts where I skimmed or got bored.
I would be absolutely, positively, 100% be interested in reading further into this series.
I cannot rave about this book enough. From start to finish was captivated by who the Author was able to layer the world building and character development. Placing real struggles and real emotions into each and every nuance that occurs daily without us thinking about it.
Loved the bonding between the Guards, Bram and Ryan, it is beautiful to see something like this becoming more and more mainstream in the books that it isn’t always fated mates there are other bonds as well.
Now when the spice hit I did not know what to expect being I have never read a romance written by a man, but let me tell you it was sultry, hot and delicious.
However those plot twists deserve some jail time. This book gets five stars for making me sob uncontrollably over a main character. I haven’t done that in awhile.
Please produce book two soon, my heart has to know… does it work? And who will the next three be? I have some ideas but let’s see if I am right.
You definitely want to take a chance on this one!! Brava A.J Knight
Obsessed! I loved this read so much! The audiobook adds so much emotion connected with the already great writing! I loved meeting the characters that we meet throughout!
I cannot wait to see where this series goes! I am in love with the narrator for this audiobook! They do an amazing job of portraying the story! The plot will drag you in and keep you hooked start to finish!
I also loved the points made about deep pockets that aren’t necessarily needed! Pockets are a big win in any outfit!
Perfect for anyone who enjoys a good fantasy novel!

“Thank you,” Estelle finally made a move, leaning in and grasping my cheek, “for sharing parts of him that belong to you.”
“It was that side of him, the kind and gentle side, that I fell in love with and continued to admire. He had never once made me feel ashamed or less than for my sheltered ways and he always went out of his way to show me new things.”

My Bookstagram feed has done it again—introducing me to yet another fantastic author and an absolutely amazing book!
This novel follows Estelle Silverheart, a young woman who discovers that her silver bracelet is actually a powerful relic. This revelation sets her on a dangerous quest to the Starfire realm. Alongside two Sunspark guards- Bramble and Faeryn, she must battle deadly creatures while navigating love, friendship, and heartbreak. Torn between her growing feelings for both guards, Estelle faces external dangers and emotional turmoil. And yes—fae are involved, adding even more magic to the adventure.
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. I’m a huge fan of detailed world-building, and A.J. did an incredible job laying it out in the prologue. The writing was so beautiful and immersive—it caught me by surprise, especially for a debut novel. The author’s attention to detail made the world feel alive, as if I were right there alongside Estelle at every thrilling moment. The magic system, character development, romance, and breathtaking world-building kept me completely captivated from beginning to end.
A.J.'s writing is just that good. The descriptions were so rich and vivid that I could almost see, feel, and experience everything right along with the characters. It’s rare for a book to pull me in this deeply, but this one managed to do so effortlessly. I’m already excited to see what A.J. writes next because their storytelling has me totally invested.
My only critique? I wish it was longer—closer to 500 pages! I flew through the entire book in two sittings and was so upset when I found out it’s only the first in a series. And since it just released, I’ll be waiting eagerly for the next installment!
Spellbinding Fantasy: A Sensual Escape into a World of Intrigue and Magic
I came across this author through his captivating artwork on his Instagram, and I must say, I am in awe of his ability to not only write with such depth and passion but also to bring his characters to life through his illustrations. It's a remarkable gift that I admire greatly, as I wish I could depict my own characters through the magic of art. Unfortunately, my drawing skills are nonexistent, so I can only appreciate his incredible talent from afar.
While I may not be well-versed in the fantasy genre, I can attest to the allure of this author's storytelling. The narrative is unique and engaging, drawing readers in with its intriguing plot, well-developed characters, and overall believability. It strikes a perfect balance between being thrilling and intense without crossing into overly graphic territory, making it a book that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
The setting of the story, with its mix of older time periods and modern elements, adds an interesting dimension to the tale. It follows the journey of a young woman discovering her origins and unlocking her hidden powers with the help of royal guards as they venture into new realms. It sets the stage for further exploration in future books, leaving readers eager for more.
The author's writing style is vivid and immersive, painting a clear picture of each scene and drawing readers into the story effortlessly. It's a book that transports you to a whole new world, allowing you to see and feel every moment as if you were right there alongside the characters. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy, romance, and a touch of excitement.
Wow, when I started reading this book I did not expect it to affect me emotionally as much as it did. A.J. Knight brings you on an emotional rollercoaster that really takes off in the last 20% of the book. At its core, I believe it's a story of acceptance that is perfectly integrated into the plot. Estelle, Bram, and Faeryn are complex, lovable characters. Their backstories, actions, and interactions with each other as adults align perfectly and truly make the book. The ending is deeply emotional and I felt connected to the characters and what they were going through every step of the way. I laughed, I cried, and I was actually surprised by every plot twist.
If you're looking for a kind and sweet giant of a human and a dark, witty Fae who are bonded for life, this is the book for you. While opposites in personality, Bram and Faeryn have such a deep connection with a history that makes them the perfect pair. Little does Estelle know that that duo is about to be a trio which she fits perfectly into to. As a character, Estelle is a bright light in their world who really keeps them on their toes.
My only complaint is that I wish the book was longer and the plot was more drawn out. I would have loved to spend more time with the characters and seen their relationship develop even further. On the other hand, the fast paced plot makes this an easy read that you don't want to put down. From the first page, the lore of the world will catch your interest and the story that follows is interesting in every single chapter. Can't wait for the rest of the series because I seriously have so many questions that need to be answered!
✨Fae x Human 🗡️Friends to Lovers ✨Why Choose 🗡️Found Family ✨Magic 🗡️Spicy
This book was so wonderful. It follows Estelle in her ordinary everyday life when one of her most prized possessions, a silver bracelet, and only thing left of her mother gets stolen at a market. There, two guards make it their personal mission to give back her missing bag with her bracelet in it. And that’s where the start of the adventure of Estelle, Bram, and Ryn begins. Their journey changes the dynamic between the 3 of them and what everyone means to each other. I found myself giggling & crying. And at the end I was both happy and upset. This is a spicy little story, but also it’s filled with so much story and adventure. It also left ya on a cliffhanger so you can expect to be antsy about the release of the next book!
Honestly, I loved this book. The story was storying to the max. To be totally transparent I am still processing some of the things that happened. The adventure was challenging and the twists and turns had me on my toes. The golden retriever and moody MMCs were so good, and will be at the top five of my favorite why choose duos. The FMC was strong willed and was very relatable. The heart break that this book put me through was infuriating and very gut wrenching. But in my opinion the book was all the better for it. All in all if was a truly great book!
I LOVED this book! It kept me on my toes the whole way through. The combination of Golden Retriever mmc and grumpy man mmc with the innocent fmc was great! Still trying to recover from the plot twist. I can’t wait to see what these characters get up to in the second book!
Oh my goshhhh!!! This book was so much fun. The banterrrr, the build up…. ughhhhh. not to mention…. the heartbreak 😭 I need book 2 badddddly. I am obsessed with these characters
Come along on our travel to Solsteria and Lumencastle. A land where the 3 Gods long ago divided the continent into 3 kingdoms, one for each God. These kingdoms were home to humans and fae, and Starlings, Sunlings and Moonlings - human or fae beings with special gifts bestowed on them from their Gods.
Join us in the Northern Woods, and meet Estelle. A poor girl who was found as an infant by her adoptive mother, who used to be the Kings seer. However, as her mother fell ill, her visions no longer suited the king, leaving them poor and yet well hidden anyway. Once a month, Estella travel into the Sunspark Kingdoms market in lower Lumencastle, where she sells pies and clothes she’s made. When she is robbed of both a pie and her beloved backpack with the bracelet she wore as an infant in it - her heart breaks for what she’s lost. Luckily, two handsome kings guards, a human and a fae, stumble into her path. And as their paths cross, their lives change forever.
Join Estelle and her two new guards as they travels to find out where she came from, and journey to unlock both her past and powers.
I will say I immensely enjoyed the start of this book! I thought the premise was clever, the characters were interesting and the plot itself was intriguing. I liked the chemistry between the 3 of them, especially the brotherly bond between Bramble and Faeryn (the two guards). I thought how they were bonded was incredibly clever and their banter was fantastic.
However, I felt as a lot of the development and story slightly disappeared after the relationship between the main characters developed. I also felt as though the way the story focuses on greatly detailed events and story building in the first parts of the book was somehow forgotten halfway through. It was as the desire to add both plot and get to the ending fought for dominance, leaving me with a feeling of the story being rushed and plot points happening too quickly. And that’s just really sad, because as I said, I really enjoyed the first half of the book!
I felt as tho the ending was rushed, resulting in the events of the finale of the book not hitting as hard as it could have.
The way the magic worked in this world and the bond between the two males was unique in my opinion. I immensely enjoyed the world and I’m already excited to return to it.
I would absolutely recommend this book, and I am excited to see what comes next. I mean, I did finish it in just two days!
I first heard about this book on booktok from the author actually and reached out to him and he was so sweet and gave me a copy of his wonderful book. I'm so glad he did. I'm not great with ebooks but with this book I had to get the kindle version as well because I needed to read it on my breaks at work and sometimes I'd forget my physical copy, so this author unwillingly helped me with that. The end of this book had me reeling. I absolutely loved/hated this so much. The banter between all three was hilarious and the growth but the end gutted me. The end also was on the Kindle so when I got to the end I was like…”that's it ... .what?!?” I thought there was more, but alas there was not. I need the next book already. Also that spice😏🥵 I am not complaining.
* My obsession with this book is so real. His writing is absolutely so beautiful from the settings, to the magic, to the characters. I am completely hooked on this world.
* Estelle, my girl. She has a secluded life, kept away from the reality of her world. Until one day she meets 2 royal guards and her whole life is flipped upside down. She’s a little spitfire, and as she discovers the truth about herself. She truly comes into her own and I was so here for it. Get it girl 😏 in more ways than one.
* The guys, Bram and Ryn. Swoon. Guards are a bonded pair, one human and one fae. Such an interesting dynamic and different way for that to play out in a story. I love Bram and his sweet self, so strong and yet a puddle for our girl. Now don’t get me wrong here, Ryn is my man, or fae man rather, I love his broody self. Tries to be the tough guy, but we know he’s just had a wounded past that made him throw up walls.
* Did my heart get absolutely demolished, yes, it definitely did. I was NOT expecting what happened to happen. But my hope is it all makes sense eventually 💔
* I cannot wait for the next book 𝕊𝕖𝕖𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕊𝕦𝕟𝕤𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕜 ✨
Living in the northern woods, Estella survives by selling baked goods and fabrics in the main city and supports her mama whose health is declining. Her life is normal and she can get by, until she meet two sunguards who discover something about Estella she was unaware of, and confirmed with her appearance and her beautiful silver bravest she has had since she was a child. Ryn and Bram accompany Estella on an unexpected journey to self discovery and freedom from the power hungry kingdom.
Estella finds herself being attracted to both men as they help her during her journey, even they are both best friends and completely polar opposites… but why choose?
Dive into this creative world and follow Estella on her path to the realm in which she belongs while falling in love with two men at the same time who will do anything for her, including laying down their life for her safety.
This book had me hooked from chapter one! From the character & world building, I was impressed. I’ve learned my new favorite trope is “why choose” and this was one of my first reverse harem books and I loved it! Bram, ryn and Estelle are one of my favorite trios & I adore their relationship so so much. Just enough spice without being overwhelming or Compromising any of the story! I cannot wait for book 2!!!
I felt every single emotion when reading this beautiful book. I laughed, cried, smiled, and got a little angry at the author (not really but that CLIFFHANGER). I instantaneously fell in love with the trio. I found the storyline to be unique in the world of fantasy plots and look forward to reading more! I'm going to need that next book, like, yesterday.
Uugghh!!!! A.J. Can you transport me into this book!😫 while I was reading I felt that I was really there with the characters with how you portrayed everything so well with perfect detail and execution. I CANT WAIT FOR BOOK 2!!!!
This book was absolutely phenomenal!! The world, the characters, the story, everything was so beautifully written. And the endingggggg!!! I can't wait for book 2!
"Love is a dangerous, dangerous feeling, my dear." Ahh, my favorite quote from this book is also a warning. This book made me fall in love, swept me up on an epic journey, and threatened to crush my heart irrevocably. Fantasy is a genre I am extremely familiar with and often books classified as such can feel redundant and familiar, but that is not the case with Chasing Starfire! A.J. Knight has created a masterpiece that will leave you breathless and wanting more. Book two can not come soon enough! A few more specific thoughts...
*The spice is immaculate! What starts as a gentle, slow burn ignites and creates a beautiful fire. The "why choose" aspect of the plot is perfectly executed throughout the story. You will definitely fall in love with the three main characters. *The world-building is fantastic! I was able to quickly and easily visualize the world created here and felt as if I were part of it the whole time I was reading. *The secondary characters are unforgettable! I really enjoy a book where the "extras" are just as vibrant and relevant to the story as the main characters, and this book did not disappoint.
I simply can't recommend this book and author enough! My TBR is now longer (and richer) having discovered A.J. Knight's work.
Romantasy is by far one of my favourite genres, and I stumbled upon AJ Knight when scrolling through Bookstagram. I'm glad I did because I loved his book 'Chasing Starfire' 🥹. Also, my first Romantasy by a male author and his writing is breathtaking, weaving together mesmerizing settings, enchanting magic, and characters that feel so real. I’m utterly immersed in this world and can’t get enough.
Estelle, our FMC, is a strong and intriguing character, having spent her life sheltered from the harsh truths of the world, but everything changes when she encounters two royal guards, Bram and Ryn. Watching her uncover her true potential was an absolute joy—I was rooting for her the whole way.
Our MMCs are actually a bonded pair, one human and one fae. These two are just gorgeous! Golden Retriever & Grumpy males....sign me up! Bram is this wonderful mix of strength and tenderness, especially when it comes to Estelle. Ryn is our tough guy who hides a painful past, and with the help of Estelle and Bram, his layers slowly unravel. His brooding nature draws me in every time.
The emotional rollercoaster was real. There were moments that completely wrecked me—events I never saw coming. But I’m holding onto the hope that everything will come together in the end.
Thank you, @a.j.knight.author, for letting me read and review your book, and i'm looking forward to 'Seeking Sunspark'.
This book is like a warm fantasy hug—with a little extra sizzle. If you've never dipped your toes into fantasy (or spice), this is the perfect starter pack. No overwhelming world-building, just a cozy, easy read that hits you right in the feels.
This is a why choose fantasy, so brace yourself for some heat—because things get toasty in here. Estelle finds herself swept into a world she never imagined, alongside Bram (a human golden retriever in man form) and Faeryn (the broody yet irresistible fae who definitely has “mysterious bad boy” down to an art).
As someone who usually devours epic fantasy, this didn’t quite hit five stars for me, but I’d still 100% recommend it—especially if you’ve never read fantasy before. The spice is well-balanced and doesn’t take away from the story. And honestly, I can not wait for the next book a great read for a spring afternoon.
I won’t lie I’m completely new too this author and I have to say I’m completely obsessed with this book. This book had me hooked from right from the start! From the character & world building, I was really impressed with how easy I was able to visualize the world and the characters in my mind. . I love a good why choose reverse harem and this book definitely didn’t disappoint. Bram, ryn and Estelle are my absolute favorite trios & I love their relationship so much. This was the perfect pallet cleaner after all the spice I have read. This book had just enough spice without being overwhelming or compromising any of the story or plot! I cannot wait for book 2 please add this book to your TBR you won’t be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book. This is my first romance fantasy book. I like that it was 3 person POV. I think that helped me understand the story a lot more. The adventure was awesome. Estelle *Star* trying to find her past and and her people. She discovers her powers ( which is so cool) I also enjoyed the relationship between Faeryn (my favorite- wink. Love a snarky, Kiss My A** character), Bram and Estelle *Star* . It was lovely to see them grow. The envy, the lust, the love- Whew! The bond between Fearyn and Bram *chef's kiss*. The book has some great intrigue as well! Can't wait for Book 2.
*Spice level* 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5out 5 (Cause I would want to know!☺️)
I absolutely loved this book. If you love fantasy then this is one for you.
Imagine being a poor young girl hidden away from the kingdom to go to the market every day to sell your items to then have people make fun of you for how badly you look and stealing your items. To the next day having royal guards returning your items to then finding out you're the missing magical heir to a different realm. Omgahhh!
Along the journey to her correct realm she falls in love with the two guards whom brought her and that's just where the drama starts to unfold.
You guys have to read this book! A.J. Knight is now one of my favorite authors. 📚
Want to explore a faerie realm with lots of adventure and tears? Then this is the book for you! 💫 Born with healing powers Estelle lived a normal life unaware of the powers sitting inside her. The daughter of the sun king herself Estelle was abandoned at her mother's doorstep, born and brought up with love.
All she wanted to do was earn some bread for her and her mother and give her mother the best treatment when she collided with two hot and handsome fae soldiers who were ready to k!ll for her. What happens when Estelle realises she is not who she thought she was but instead one of the three people chosen by the gods to be the keeper of the most powerful ornaments, THE SILVER BRACELET.
Faeryn and Bramble were just brothers from another mothers enjoying their life when they came across a girl they never knew they would burn the world for.
If you love Fantasy and Reverse Harem at the same time then this book is definitely for you ✨

I really enjoyed this book! It took me a little while to get into the story, but once I did, I flew through it. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the characters, but they quickly grew on me—especially Estelle. She was so unpredictable that I never knew what she would do next! Watching her navigate the chaos in her life while discovering what she truly wanted made for a compelling read. As the story progressed, so did the intensity—both emotionally and romantically—and I was certainly not disappointed in that regard. Now, I’m eager to see where the next book takes Estelle and can’t wait to continue following her journey!
