Tess is supposed to be smart, but whenever she's around Thiago, she becomes a pathetic horny mess. Her mind is always in the gutter, and there's nothing fun to read about that.
Then we have Thiago, who's supposed to be the devil, but is wrapped around Tess' fingers. Not that I don't like this personality, but he had never done anything for his organization at this point because he was so busy chasing her. 🤷♀️
I already made up my mind that this was only going to get worse, so stopping at any point is inevitable for me.
I was partially able to get past Tess' disregard for Thiago's shooting her own best friend (though this almost made me stop too). But this punishment by whipping his belt and intentionally leaving her marks and the pain that she'd feel for days is a hard limit for me.
I've never been a fan of this, and I find it offensive. Maybe there's some warning out there that this book contains that, and it's my fault for not looking. 🤷♀️ But seeing the MMC purposely hitting or inflicting physical pain on the FMC is a big ❌ for me.
So I'm going to stop, as I know this won't work for me—to each their own, I suppose.

Thiago was the perfect blend of insanely possessive, obsessive and utterly devoted. I couldn’t get enough of his displays of jealousy when anyone comes near Tess. He was just chef kisses. Tess was a strong and independent woman, didn't take shit from anyone but was sweet at the same time.

red flags? whats that, because babes I saw no red flags in this book only green because what type of red flag of a man would literally scour all across EUROPE for months to find his fiancee just so he could marry her. or buy her tons of ten different kinds of rocky road because she said it was her favorite and proceed to WAIT for her in the kitchen at midnight for hours repeatedly so that when she came down for her midnight snack he could share it with her.

↳ Tess Noble (h) is the protagonist of the story, and she is just the embodiment of pink and if there is a heroine whose favorite color is pink? I already know I'm gonna love her (elena russo, ava nash...looking at you). We meet Tess very briefly in Love in the Dark from the RCA series as Tristan's older sister and while she is truly the sweetest girl ever, she's still a noticeably a strong willed heroine who doesn't easily bend.
↳ Thiago da Silva (H) aka my husband, the man of my dreams, the blueprint, the man of the hour—is just hot asf. I don't know how else to put it. like when you guys read the book and the description of this man you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. but this 6'4 grump of a cartel leader is one of the most obsessed heroes I have ever had the pleasure of reading. He is so soft for Tess its actually the most adorable thing ever, the only thing this man truly truly wants is to call her his. And the MOUTH on this man- nobody has anything on him. I swear.
as always, khai never misses and she is such an incredibly underrated author that it's surprising to me. the writing in her books is not one you would see for a typically "new author" especially in her debut novel/series which was all amazing. the men in her books are also just top tier, everything you would want in a dark romance with an over the top jealous and possessive man. and you know, its something about the Nobles too because tristan and nera were my favorite KH couple but now tess and thiago just dethroned them by a small margin 😭

It started out enjoyable enough, but lost its charm pretty fast
I liked the beginning. I wasn't blown away, but I was happily skipping down the fictional meadow, enjoying the view. Then the author decided it would be fun to prolong a stupid misunderstanding as well keep the zeroine a stubborn bore for longer than necessary and I went from skipping to grudgingly trudging through a swamp...

The amount of stars in the universe doesn’t compare to the stars this book deserves. When I say it has become one of my all-time favorites, I mean it has SERIOUSLY become a favorite. I can’t shut up about it ahah
Devil Mine follows Tess Noble and Thiago da Silva. Tess was first mentioned in Love in the Dark which was her brother’s book. It created an amazing build-up to this book and it did not disappoint.
This man.. my god, this man. I think about Thiago on a daily basis. He saw her across the club and BOOM, he fell for her, needed to know her name, and claimed her as his future wife.
Tess obviously didn’t want to be married to this man considering she saw him unalive somebody, so what was the rational thing she did? She ran.
But of course, Thiago wouldn’t let that happen so he spent MONTHS searching for her. The cat and mouse part of this book where he chases her country to country had to be my favorite. This man was so miserable with the fact that she wasn’t by his side.
OH, did I mention that HE’s the vocal one in bed. Thiago is for sure an alpha but does not hesitate to submit to his wife.
Please, for the love of everything alive, read this book. Khai has become one of my favorite authors in a short amount of time. I’m so glad I met her and glad to call her my friend. This book is forever ingrained in my head.

Ugh how does this book have 4+ rating??! I DNF’ed right after she was SA’ed in the hallway. Argue with a wall if you want, but that was sexual assault. The fmc literally tried to push the mmc off of her but he didn’t stop and the author tries to justify it in the book by the fact that the fmc’s body was “reacting” to it and that the fmc was confused on why she “liked” it. Like???? I’m disappointed because the book started off well and I really wanted to know what happened to Adriana. But I guess I will just be reading the spoilers somewhere else.

I get that she had her worries at the beginning but tell me with all the honesty, how can you resist a man that buys all your favorite ice cream flavors, takes you dancing under the stars bc it was in your bucket list, teaches you self defense and basically gives you the means to steal your father's company where you worked with tears and blood and makes you the big boss. I mean, he's husband material. 😏
And he also calls you amor and preciosa *screams*
That being said, this book and the plot, and the characters were so over the top and excessive but maybe that's why I loved it so much, I read it with an open mind and really, go with the flow~

This book was heartbreaking, funny and sooo well thought out. Honestly I didn‘t saw the plot twist coming.
Tess and Thiago are like ice and fire. They are fucking hot together and Thiagos love language is a mix of words and gestures. I adored him and the way he shows Tess how much he cares for her. Tess herself falls quickly for Thiago but fights against her feelings. I really liked them together.
The story has good and thrilling plot considering Thiagos sister whose fate is unknown. I liked the way the author introduced us to new and old characters.
I already got some characters in mind who should get their own story!! I‘m super excited for Valentina & Matteos book (hopefully coming soon).
Overall this was a well written, dark and angsty cartel romance. I had a lot of fun reading it.

Babes, almost every character in this story reads like a first-draft attempt at a character profile while being so homogenous in personality that the speaking voices across (female) characters are indistinguishable. There’s also a severe lack of “show-don’t-tell” to substantiate how the main character, Tess, thinks of herself. She’s a 25-year- old Cambridge alumna holding an executive position at her dad’s global corporation, and is described as smart and “being good with data”… AND YET she has to ask her *male* colleague to spoof her location and encrypt her emails for her because she doesn’t know how to do that for some reason?I’m so tired of female characters being written as ~sassy white girls~ who crack weird jokes in life or death situations; making quip after quip “banter” with men that barely makes sense; and endlessly pouting like a child. Why is this a common female archetype? I literally have met zero women like this in real life and I don’t know where it’s coming from. Anyway, Tess’ best friend has the same bland “personality” and makes a *witty* joke when there’s a gun pulled on her. This whole book is so tired. With that said, Thiago was the only fully-realized character and he is the only reason I finished the book.

* I mean the whole reason I wanted to read this book was because of the level of obsession Theago had for his wife and he definitely delivered.
Dislikes:
* Tess is pretty emotionally dumb/stunted. It was pretty annoying
* This book was way too long. I know the author must get a shit ton of comments about this because she has an insert at the beginning of the book explaining why it's so long BUT even with her explanation it didn't need to be this long. It got real boring by 60%.
Conclusion:
Enjoyable mafia/cartel story. If you're looking for something that will have you running to your buzzy friend or your partner this is the book! The reviews don't lie lol.

I was excited starting off with a strong, intelligent FMC who wasn’t a damn virgin teenager like they all are in these books, and very quickly came to realize that the so called badass, intelligent FMC was in fact NOT that. She was annoying and frustrating, and for the life of me I couldn’t stand her, quite frankly, completely childish outbursts. All the “fight” she had with/against the big, bad mafia boss was nothing more than poorly thought tantrums. All her actions were anything BUT smart or even decently planned. She was just very unlikable and the banter fell short because honestly it wasn’t banter it was just her being stupid and idiotically impulsive. No thoughts seemed to go through her brain when interacting with Thiago- other than sex that is. Not even her BEST FRIEND being shot lasted that long on her mind because she was too busy being horny- yet despite that, she stubbornly plays hard to get becauseeee…?! Her ego and dignity apparently but in reality no one fvcking knows. Like girl what are you on about?! She has TOO MANY things to say but nothing at all really. She NEVER knows when or how to pick her battles, puts her foot in her mouth 97% of the time, she’s only bark and no bite and she’s inconsistent af. Plus her favorite thing to do in life is to take all her anger issues out on everybody especially Thiago (ofc)…. like ALL the time. I just couldn’t stand her personality one bit which was sad because she had sooooo much potential initially. I like me a complex, flawed FMC, problematic with issues and such but Tess wasn’t that at all, she was just really shitty as a character/person.

I started off this book really disliking Thiago, I was even going to dnf at one point when he found Tess again and whipped her with his belt because it just came across as abusive not kinky but I pushed through and by the end of it I loved him. He was over the top jealous, possessive and obsessed. The last 10% when he was pouring his heart out for her when she was injured, I ate it up!
I really liked Tess, I loved seeing an fmc in a mafia book actually have a career and a working brain. I loved when she ran from him and when she came back she didn’t immediately submit to him like he wanted her to. I mean it didn’t take long for her to give in but she did resist longer than most fmcs lol.
I loved that it was a safe read, they both had been celibate for a couple years before they got together and he was a million percent devoted and obsessed with only her from the start. 🙌🏻
