Brad Stone is a billionaire, but not the trust fund type. Nope. Said with the hard pop of the “p.” He is the roll-up-your-sleeves, get your hands dirty, and put in a hard day's work. All to make that money to create the life he wants to lead, and he does. Brad had lost both his parents to cancer. So, it seemed natural for him to raise money to help him stomp out that horrible disease.
At the current year's gala, he realizes that not everyone is going to be there on time, especially now due to the weather, also it being a Friday night, and the normal Manhattan traffic. He only made it on time due to working close enough to being able to dress at work. Not to mention, it is close enough that he was able to walk over from his office. Knowing he has a room available at the event to go to rest or stay at afterward helps him, stay off the fatigue.
When he rushes into the venue and not seeing anyone, he goes straight into the kitchen to talk to the chef. He tells him to hold off on the food, so as not to have it be soggy or stiff. As Brad went to check his coat he saw her, Lily. The hat check girl. He watched her for several minutes, finding Lily beautifully sexy in a natural way. She appeared to be going over some paperwork and writing on it while checking in a book. He asked what the book was about. Startling her. Brad tells her he’s sorry he didn’t mean to frighten her. He didn't even realize he asked it out loud.
That’s what started their meet-cute. You see, Lily is a special needs teacher and is grading the papers of her students. She does it in between helping the guests check in and when they retrieve their coats. She explained how sorry she was for bringing the work to her second job, but since the event was running late, she thought she would use her time wisely, by grading papers to have the whole weekend free. That's if, she could finish them that night.
He said it was not a problem, it was admirable, and to please continue. He of all people knew the struggles of making it on his own. On their way to meet their goals, someone makes for themselves. When she snorts, he asks, “What’s that for?” She tells him, “Sure.” He knew she thought he was a trust fund baby. So, he explained that he was not, it was all hard work. She turned beet red and said she was sorry. By then, people started to arrive and cut their time together short.
What he couldn't shake was her exuberance when she spoke about her teaching, saving to travel to all the places her friends had traveled to on their trips. While she pushed on to get her master's in education not to mention living with the pain her ex caused her, and still causes her self-esteem. He wants to make it better for her. And, change her outlook on life when it comes to looking out for her, and love.
I did enjoy this book, however, felt like it oversimplified the idea of how we all take for granted the power other’s words and actions can slay us. Especially when you think about how Lily’s ex treated her and how she allowed it to affect her relationship with Brad.

Loving His Unlikely Match -
Lily was enamoured with Brad the moment she laid eyes upon him, but she didn’t think he would be interested in someone like her. Even though Brad was weary about women because of his wealth, he felt a pull towards Lily from the moment they met and knew he wanted a relationship with her after getting to know how real she was. Lily’s insecurities caused by her ex-boyfriend’s deception, made her ghost Brad after their night together, but his determination for true happiness led him to find her and convince her to give them a chance at a future together.
This story is about two people’s journey to overcoming their pasts and risking taking a chance on love. The book was an amazing read, that had me hooked from the first page. Grab a copy of this book now and you won’t be disappointed with your decision.

He works is way back to where she is working, and drops it off to her. Magic seems to have started.
