(1943), was voted by the American evangelical periodical Christianity Today in 2006 as one of the top 50 books "which had shaped evangelicals".

Written by a New Testament historian, this concise commentary fills out the historical background of 1-3 John and expounds upon each verse clearly without sacrificing academic rigor. Endnotes document Bruce's research and provide extra details for the curious.
