This is a thoroughly updated and revised university textbook on the science of parapsychology. The objective of this book is to provide an introductory survey of parapsychologists' efforts to explore the authenticity and bases of anomalous, apparently paranormal phenomena.
A comprehensive classic text on parapsychology. Was recommended by my paranormal module lecturer and is great to use as a guide when thinking critically about the topic. Would recommend.
Carolin A. Watt, the co author, coaches an online introduction to parapsychology at Edinburgh University and the Koestler Institute each year. Her course book is the second best manual that encountered. Its a classic introduction. Starting with a short historical background and introducing the basic terms of parapsychology. The online course added the possibility to listen interviews of scientists an discussing the presented questions every week
Very dry but its also a textbook so that's to be expected. Well sourced, quite thorough, and presents some really interesting ideas. I definitely understand why this stuff is inherently difficult to study in a scientific setting now.
