Alphas do not exist. 25-year-old omega, Damon Richards, knows this; it’s why his old-school pack considers him all but useless. He certainly doesn’t expect this reality to be upended at a random bar in the middle of nowhere. But that’s what happens when he meets an irresistible stranger…and things just get more complicated from there.
In his forty-two years of life, Rex Murphy hasn’t had any reason to believe he isn’t human. Shifters are just something he learned about in school; a species snuffed out long ago. As far as he’s concerned, he’s just a normal guy – until his anatomy changes during an impromptu hook-up in a bar’s bathroom. At that point, he does what any rational person would he flees.
Wanting answers to his newfound alpha-ness, Rex seeks out Shifters Sanctuary, a pack recently founded by the only other known alpha in existence.
As fate would have it, once there, Rex gets the second biggest shock of his life. It seems he left a little something behind with Damon on the night he fled. A baby-shaped something.
Rex and Damon still have a lot to work out (not made any easier by the looming threat from a cult-like community of shifters with their own agenda) but they may just discover that a life in Shifter’s Sanctuary is worth fighting for...
His Prodigal Alpha is a sweet, instant attraction (fated mates) romance. It IS an mpreg with an unexpected pregnancy, and it does contain some violence, threats, kidnapping, anxiety, talk of infertility, and some angst, as well as some rope play/shibari and discussion about unsafe BDSM practices. This book contains elements suited to readers over the age of 18.
'We were just newly dating, with a baby on the way.'
I did not know how much I needed a situation in which an MC suddenly pops a knot for the first time in his life during what he thought was a random bar hookup, only to then discover six months later that he impregnated said hookup.
This is one of those situations where I fully understand someone freaking out SO strongly mid-sex that they try to leave (except they literally can't, on account of knotty behavior).
I also understand him wanting to run away and not ask any questions whatsoever about the freaky shit that occurred during that hookup.
But Rex seeing Damon's pregnant belly, freaking TF out, and insisting on calling it a 'condition' was genuinely cracking me up.
This is the ONLY time I can understand and empathize with a man who is shocked and astounded that unprotected sex with the mother lode of cream pies resulted in pregnancy.
Fair play to him for adapting really quickly, though. As ridiculous as him suggesting they be friends with benefits was, it made sense given how skittish Damon was about things.
Oh, and they're into shibari. Added a tag just for this even though I don't expect to find m(any) other books with it.
'Damn, did I love an older man who could take charge of me—when I allowed it, of course.'
Typical Damon.
Can't say I enjoyed the subplot, and it had the dreaded epilogue sex but I think I'd read more by this author.
PS-Them being sappy, happy and in love but Rex still freaking out about the idea of having ANOTHER baby was so real. Terrible time for fated mates who can feel the other's feelings through the mate bond lol.
Picture the conversation of having another coming up and suddenly feeling intense panic through the bond 💀💀💀💀.
This book has the perfect mix of humor, action and steam (it's also VERY low angst). I would highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to dip their toe into the Omegaverse. In the first two books of the series-would highly recommend the first book, Alpha Unlocked btw-you have an MC who's sure that he's human only to find out that he's a shifter AND an Alpha. Hilarius/sexy hijinks ensue. One of the MCs is learning about this world alongside you, so you get a ton of background info about Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics.
I liked this less than the first one. I didn't like Damon at all. Rex was not so bad. His reactions were some what reasonable. I didn't like that Rex made a ton of effort toward Damon to make things work but Damon seemed not to make any effort at all. Also Damon says that he isn't going to be one of those people who would keep a child away from their parent but that seemed to be exactly his plan. It didn't even cross his mind to try and find Rex when he found out he was pregnant. Not even giving Rex a chance. Also there was way to much inner dialog between responses in a conversation. I kept having to go back pages to see what the person was responding to.
DNF half way. These characters embody so much what I dislike within the romance genre. It’s trite and everyone’s fear/anxiety/opinions make them an asshole. I wouldn’t want to be around any of these people irl 😅
I probably would have given that book more stars but I just had a really hard time to get into the book…I should have read it right after the first one because I just didn’t really felt it anymore nor did I really connected with the characters (even though it’s about a different couple).
A second awesome book in this new omegaverse series. Ideal for fans of the omegaverse books from Piper Scott, Raiven Matthews and Nora Phoenix.
"There went my heart again, thudding near-painfully in my chest. How could anyone not fall for a big, buff, sexy man who made impassioned impromptu speeches about self-worth like that?"
Rex, as the older cowboy/Texan rancher, who onoy finds out he is an Alpha when he is surprised to end up knotted to his bathroom hookup - is perfectly done. And Damon is such a sweetheart.
In this, you'll find: ✨️MM Paranormal romance ✨️Omegaverse ✨️Fated mates ✨️Age gap ✨️Mpreg with an unexpected pregnancy & birth ✨️Pregnant from a hookup ✨️Some violence & threats ✨️Kidnapping/abduction of small children/infants (brief with a happy conclusion) ✨️Anxiety ✨️Allusions to an emotionally abusive upbringing ✨️Talk of infertility ✨️Rope play & shibari ✨️Discussion about unsafe BDSM practices ✨️HEA for the couple, HFN on the ongoing story.
This past few months I am on a shifter kick I want to read all and any shifter stories.
I do enjoy this book more than the 1st book but I love seeing all the characters from the 1st book. Before confusion sets in I did enjoy the first book this one just read easier. I don't know why, it's a me thing.
I loved this concept that the pack is made up of different shifters it really kind of a found family vibe. There is rabbits, puma, wolfs, foxes and dragons.
I really enjoyed that the villain stayed the same, but love a good vs evil plot where good always win.
The angst is low-key which is nice I would describe it as a cozy feel good shifters romance. This book does contain male pregnancy so if it is not your cup of tea just take note.
Can't wait for book 3
Disclaimer I did receive this as an arc in return for an honest review. But the thought are my own. I love Anna's writing style.
Although not as good as book 1, this was still a very entertaining read. It's sometimes so ridiculous and you just have to laugh, I laughed a lot. The fact that the MCs were Texan? incredible. The fact that Gordon Ramsay canonically exists within the shifterverse? phenomenal work.
I also found the entire concept of book 2 magnificently funny, because it's exactly what didn't happen in book 1 (public bathroom sex) and with double the age gap 😂 I can't lie, I have to respect the hustle
Anyways, I look forward to book 3 with great anticipation, especially because it's about the horse (iykyk) 🤭
These books are great to buddy read with friends btw, if you want fun enrichment activities 😂
I liked this one much more than the first. Although in this one, I did find Damon to be a bit mean and unforgiving toward Rex for a good portion of the start of the book. I understand it was partially because of the hormones, but it did make Damon a bit unlikeable for me. However, once he started to let Rex in, it became a really fun book with a lot of world building within Shifter Sanctuary. I’m intrigued by the next book, but it sounds like Brandt is gonna make some problematic decisions! Interested to see how it plays out.
His Prodigal Alpha is the second book in the Shifters Sanctuary series. Each book could be read as a standalone but in my opinion it is better after reading book one His Alpha Unlocked. This is Damon an omega puma shifter and Rex a man who doesn't know he's an alpha until he hooks up with Damon and knots him. I love the premise that alphas have died out and are now mysteriously coming back. I love the character and world building that is happening in this series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.
This was a fantastic sequel to His Alpha Unlocked! I was fortunate to get to be a part of this ARC release.
Damon and Rex are perfect for one another and work really hard to prove it. I love it when we continue to see previous characters who really play an integral part in the character development and world building, but also lend some humor and levity to the whole storyline.
We met Beck and Ollie in book 1, but seeing them through Rex and Day's eyes was phenomenal. They're such well-rounded characters, and Beck has really come into his Alpha persona. I know this book is about Rex and Day, but without seeing Beck and Ollie in this POV, I dont think we could truly understand how far Rex and Day really come by the end of the book.
Damon, oh Damon. Our sweet young spicy sassy omega.. He's adorable, but he's guarded. He's sassy, but he's scared. And he's sweet, but strong.
Rex... phew.. his your quintessential Cowboy. I could hear the drawl in his voice and envision the perfectly fitted jeans. But best of all, he's kind, funny, strong, and honest. He doesn't hide his feelings and will say his truth. Even if it startles himself.. and maybe sometimes puts his big old boot in his mouth. Oh.. did I say old? Yeah... Rex? He's a sexy 42 yr old. 🥵 and to Day's 25 years? 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The way Rex is willing to go at Day's pace through it all, his calmness even while kind of sorta mostly freaking out is endearing, but loving all the same. Understandably, Day is scared of being hurt but Rex is willing to put in the work to show Day he isn't going anywhere, no matter what, and is willing to be a 100/100 partner either WITH Day as his mate and coparent, or just as coparents and friends.
The world building in this book was only even more beautifully built upon from the previous book, ad the bonds built within this pack are unbreakable, no one is left behind. The love and adoration Rex and Day build is only bolstered by the love and acceptance they're given within the Sactuary as well. Overall, I LOVED this book. I thought I loved Beck and Ollie... but this Cowboy and his the little closed off Omega really stole my heart.
This is such a great story. I couldn't put it down and was so excited to read it. I have read the authors other stories and couldn't wait to see how well this one was going to be. I didn't read the first book but you really don't need to in order to read this one.
Damon needed to get away from his current pack so he decided to go a little out of the city so no one could see him at the bar seeing how they believe all Omegas are useless anyways. He ends up meeting a irresistible stranger and have a random hookup. He doesn't expect the aftermath of that random to be what it turned out to be. Now he must find a new place to go as he will not be able to return back to the pack. He heard about Shifter Sanctuary and decides that he will find it and that is where he will go. He never expected the warm welcome he receives and didn't expect to have a belly bump either.
Rex has never been able to keep a realtionship and never could understand why. He didn't think he was attracted to men either but he just couldn't help himself with the irresistible stranger with his rejected line towards someone else. He just wants to do a random hookup and be on his way. He didn't expect what happened and freaks and runs. Now months later, he can't seem to get the guy off his mind and when he is sitting at a bar and overhears others talking about Shifter Sanctuary, he decides he needs to figure out what it is about and what is wrong with him. He doesn't expect to find his random hookup there nor with a belly bump either.
Damon & Rex have a complicated realtionship however Rex is all about learning who he is and will prove to Damon that he isn't going anywhere. Damon doesn't know if he can trust Rex and still believes that he will end up leaving him again. These two get to spend time together and help each other along with a new pack.
I love how the guys come together and love the emotions that go through the book. The author did an amazing job on keeping you hooked in the book. I loved how the story ended and look forward to reading more in this series.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
The Shifter's Sanctuary series is an original take on mpreg and His Prodigal Alpha continues to add layers to the worldbuilding laid out in His Alpha Unlocked. Both can be standalones, but I'd recommend reading Ollie and Beck's story first. Damon is an Omega. Most packs just use and abuse them because they're superfluous in a world that lacks Alphas. But there are Alphas; it takes sex with a fate compatible Omega/mate to trigger their dormant Alpha gene. Escaping his pack for a few hours, Damon meets a hot cowboy, Rex in a bar. They have a steamy encounter in the ladies' bathroom, and the sex triggers Damon's knot and his Alpha gene. Freaked that he isn't as human as he thought, Rex does a runner. They meet again in Shifter's Sanctuary, when Rex comes for answers from the only other known Alpha and he finds a very pregnant Damon. The two decide to get to know each other before completing their mating bond. What makes this more than an Alpha-meets-Omega-hot-sex-mpreg story is the found pack and family of Shifter's Sanctuary. Everyone's an outcast from their original packs. Rex, kicked out of his adoptive family for being gay and Damon, belittled and abused by his original pack, find a home in the Sanctuary pack and each other. Damon and Rex's chemistry is combustible. Lots of steam and spicy Shibari. Their pack is full of nosy, caring shifters who will provide Anna Sparrows lots of fodder for further stories. Annnnddd, the town's founding shifter is a dragon. Always a delight to have dragons. Just a little angst. Sexy times. Action from a backwards, prejudiced and dangerous Moonlit sect. Intrigue as the dragon physicians study the Alpha gene. Thoroughly enjoyable. Lite, quick fun. Next book one of the dragons find his mate. I look forward to reading that. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

This was a sweet story as Rex flees from Damon after unexpectedly knotting him and how they eventually get back together and find the HEA they deserve. The run-ins with the clan were dramatic and could trigger a few things for some people so please read the trigger warnings. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content with mature content set in the omegaverse with mpreg.
“His Prodigal Alpha” is the second book in the Shifters Sanctuary series by Anna Sparrows. It continues with the same reality based feel as the first book, but there is a bit more talk about “magic,” as it relates to shifters.
As with the first book the characters have to deal with a lot of personal unknowns and figuring out their new realities. But, this time there are others who can help them through the process. Damon and Rex have their lives changed after a bathroom hook up that reveals that Rex may not be as human as he had thought. He panics and runs. Several months later Damon accepts his own new reality. The men are reunited not long after Damon arrives at the new Shifter Sanctuary.
Rex and Damon are adorable together. Things are a bit rocky after the see each other again, but they do progress and form a lovely unit.
This book had a lot of the getting to know you parts glossed over and sped up like the first book. It feels like a book with bookends. A lot happens at first, then a bit of a time jump, and a lot of action at the end. It’s a noticeable gap, but at the same time it’s nice not to have random, unimportant filler added to the story. There are some too good to feel real things again but this time they are a bit tempered with the shifters discovering that there might be a lot more going on then basic biology, and that there might be more magic in the world then they thought.
I can’t wait to see where this series goes and I hope more favorite characters have their own HEAs.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
I was pleased with how the story unfolded. It is still an mm mpreg shifter age gap romance. It has a very different vibe than the first book in this series. Especially in relation to the the main characters between Damon and Rex. They are a quickie on a night out gone out of controlw. Due to oops my body changes, from human to an Alpha shifter, for Rex. That made him run away. And Damon realizing later on he was left with a surprise parti gifr in the form of a baby.I do like how thay both ended up at the sanctuary and work positively on a way to make it work for their unborn little one. Especially Rex learning to come to terms with him being a new Alpha shifter. And both of them finding a happy medium to noy claim the other just because their hormones and society expects it. They do find their hea/ hfn with their little one. It was also fun to get sneaks into Beck and Ollie their live with their young ones. As doea finding a little more out about the dragons, but I want more on all of them. The progression of the backstory of the reemerging Alpha's, a conservative society at large that feels threatened by their way of being and the growing numbers of otthers who want to join this thriving rejuvinated pack/ sanctuary. I will a keep an eye out for the next book and will hope it will be one of the dragons. I know the author mentions that, but I think it is an authors prerogative to change the odser they write in. 4,5*
Audiobook narration: Zachary Zaba did another outstanding job. I truely enjoyed it and he brought that bit extra which is hard to define. 5*
2.65 stars. I'm aware that's very specific. some spoilers below?
If I'm being #real this book is not as good as its predecessor, but it still makes a great buddy read. I can absolutely blast through these for some reason, I would've finished it in like 2ish hours if Lentil hadn't demanded walkies. did not like this couple as much as the last one! Rex is no Beck! I remember with the last book I thought Beck was actually a pretty well written Older Boyfriend but Rex is only really an Older Guy in name. They tell you he's 42, he doesn't really have the maturity that Beck did. Yes I'm comparing them. I'll compare Damon and Ollie too - Ollie is much more fun than Damon tbh. The couple don't build up their relationship in the same way, by which I mean they go from strangers to dating basically immediately with no real development. I didn't feel attached to them particularly.
This one did not have as engaging a plot, either. The plot is just their personal issues and Damon trying to push Rex away while also not wanting him to go away and also being mad that he freaked out over mpreg that he didn't know was possible until he literally saw it. Give the man a break Damon. And then suddenly there's kidnap and the cultists from the first book (that I forgot about) are back? And then it's over. Felt very rushed like the author forgot about the cult plot. The preview for the third book with medical unethics going on sound extremely interesting though so I might have to do ANOTHER insane buddy read with Maria.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. The characters are engaging, realistic, and relatable, and truly are fated mates. Rex’s reactions to learning he wasn’t totally human, something really mind-blowing happened “down there”, he has an animal inside, and now he is going to be a father were pretty shocking, but he seemed to accept and adjust pretty quickly, especially after Eric and Brandt’s “threat” (which I loved, by the way). Rex was so steady and calm once he got over the initial shock, then was so supportive of Damon, seeming to just know when he needed something and coming up with the right thing at the right time. Damon was understandably hormonal by the time Rex arrived, focused more on protecting himself and his heart rather than listening to his animal and following his instincts. It was interesting watching the relationship as it developed on Damon’s timeline when I would have expected Rex to have been more the driving force.
The world created for this series is well developed, there are several peripheral characters available to feature for future books in the series, there is at least one “villain” available, and more shifter lore to uncover. I found the book to be entertaining and engaging, keeping me hooked from page 1 to the end. If you like shifter books, this is one I would recommend.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.
I am generally not into alpha/omega but got this free with a group of books. The start of the book had a patronizing sound, and then when Rex and Damon met, I was confused. Rex was there because during a hookup he was told he was an alpha because he had a surprise knot. He wanted to know what the hell that meant, and everyone was being coy. He had no idea that cis presenting men could get pregnant through anal sex, and suddenly he was presented with having got a man pregnant. Then he was seen as the bad guy for being shocked.
Who does that to someone? Being all coy about the situation and not telling him anything about being an alpha before springing on him that his male hookup from six months ago was there and pregnant. He was a gay man in his 40s, unexpected pregnancy was not something he ever could have anticipated.
Everyone was being a dick to Rex, and then they got mad at Rex for not suddenly jumping for joy. I gave up halfway through chapter seven of sixteen when Damon then said Rex wasn't allowed to participate in the child's life then bouncing vack and forth.
Yes, I get that jumping emotions is a pregnancy thing, but frankly, treating Rex like an automatic asshole was getting old. Plus, I am not interested in all the whining of being a single pregnant omega anymore than that of a pregnant woman.
Also, everyone was still one dimensional and I realized I had no interest.
Following on from His Alpha Unlocked, Damon finds himself in Shifter's Sanctuary, alone and needing help. Rex not knowing what is happening to him goes to Shifter Sanctuary to get answers. All he knows is that he has never been the same since he hooked up with a Omega shifter 6 months ago. I enjoyed this book more then the first. I can't say why I like Rex and Damon more. Maybe it was Rex's reactions. I think most would freak out finding out what he was and what he had done. Maybe it was because Rex worked hard for the relationship. Yes I was a fan of Rex from the start. Damon at times was a bit annoying but as you learn about his background, you can understand some of his concerns. As you get more into the story, you learn more about the danger to the pack continuing from book 1 and I love how we are introduced to more characters. With the danger comes the tension and it just added to the story. Not wanting to put it down I read it in one sitting. I love how we meet different shifters and not just wolves and I cannot wait where this series takes me. Written from both MCs POV, you get the complete story, clearly labelled there was no confusion. It was good to catch up with characters from book 1 and it has peaked my interest to know more about the Dragon siblings. Reading a spoiler for book 3 I cannot wait
Book two in the Shifters Sanctuary series was just as entertaining and low angst as the first. Rex and Damon in a bar and hook up, resulting in Rex discovering he is a shifter, and Damon becoming pregnant.
When the two reconnect months later at the Shifter Sanctuary, there are a lot of reveals to each other. I found the relationships in the book pretty entertaining but still very superficial. I had the problem in the first book that I wished there was more backstory and that things would move at a slower pace to create more of a bond with the characters. But this book was more of the same.
I did appreciate that Rex and Damon themselves took a much slower approach to their relationship! But I still feel like I know barely anything about them. I wanted more scenes of them getting to know one another outside of the bedroom.
The friendships in this book were pretty frustrating. There are so many interesting characters but other than a few snarky remarks and occasionally banter, there are almost zero scenes of actual bonding and friendship. It’s hard to connect to the characters and story when everything stays ten feet apart.
We’ll see what the next book brings!
Tropes: One Night Stand to Lovers, MPreg, Age Gap, Dual POV, Shifters, Knotting, Found Family Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ 2/5 Relationship: MM
His Prodigal Alpha continues the protective small town environment from the first book in the Shifter's Sanctuary series. I found it interesting that the prologue of this story was Damon's already pregnant arrival in Shifter's Sanctuary, and Chapter 1 is written where he and Rex have their fateful meeting and mating.
I really enjoyed the calmer small town aspect of the overall environment. It allowed our MCs to interact and get to know one another better without a lot of outside conflict. The slow tension build to the climax made it easy to follow, but did keep you a bit on edge as we learn more about the conflict in the story and how the townspeople end up having to face the antagonists. I also really appreciated that this sanctuary was full of many different shifter types, both large (they have dragons!) and small. It adds an element of fun in the fantasy, while also showing a valued and inclusive society.
I'm really looking forward to how the overarching plot of finding/researching unknown alphas continues into the next book to see how Anna Sparrows builds the Sanctuary & community.
I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Set in a unique and interesting Omegaverse world where shifters exist, often keeping their identity hidden and living in packs separate from Humans, but in a twist there hasn’t been an Alphas born for hundreds of years. The lack of Alphas has caused Omegas (who can’t become pregnant without them) to be seen as useless and therefore treated as second class citizens by their packs.
We discovered in the first book that the Alpha genes may just be dormant, or hidden, until they meet their mate.
This story follows the second (that we know of) newly “unleashed” Alpha and the Omega he impregnates unknowingly after a one night encounter.
Spicy (with a bit of bedroom kink!), sweet, fantastic world building, lovely found family, support characters you want to see more of (I’m looking at you dragon brothers!), and a plot that offers danger, turmoil, and some edge of your seat moments. This is definitely a five star read.
Truly some of the most well written mpreg I’ve read. It’s integral to the plot, has purpose and meaning, and is well explained and established within the world.
This book had me captivated from page 1. It has everything you'd want in a great book. The story line, the plot, the compatible MCs, the angst, the spice. I was gripping my seat at the peak of the plot not knowing where this was headed. I know Omegaverse isn't everyone's shot of tequila but it is mine. The whole "this person was made for you" really appeals to my romantic side. Plus, mpreg is a huge bonus. I really like that the author didn't give us that HEA from the beginning. I like that the characters had to work towards that. I also like that is wasn't all just sun shine and rainbows. There were also threats and fights and "oh no" moments. I also like that all different Shifters were included. Not just wolves or big cats like most omegaverse caters to.
I do wish there was slightly more heart stopping moments. Don't get me wrong, there were some in the book. I just wish it was more heavily incorporated.
That being said, this book is still incredible and I highly recommend everyone give it a chance.
This book has it all, it is funny, steamy, and there is a hint (OK, maybe more than a hint) of danger, sweetness and instant attraction between the MMCs and we get to revisit with the characters, including Beck and Ollie that we met in the first book, His Alpha Unlocked. It could be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading both in order for the full experience.
Rex and Damon, they both get a surprise during a one off-hook up that shakes them and Rex abruptly leaves, however the encounter results in a surprise pregnancy, which Rex is initially unaware of. Rex and Damon both individually head to Shifters Sanctuary for answers and support and they reconnect, which gives them the chance to develop a relationship.
I love the characters and the world that is building though these books in the Shifters Sanctuary series and the sneak peek at the end of this book for the next book in the series, wow, I can't wait to read that one.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Anna Sparrows has created a very intriguing world, wherein alpha shifters are thought to be extinct and omega shifters are therefore treated like garbage by their packs (they can't reproduce without the alphas). All of a sudden, alphas are very slowly coming out of the woodwork, their biology changed out of the blue as they knot their fated omegas. Damon (omega) and Rex (alpha) both end up at Shifters Sanctuary, a place founded to protect outcast shifters. Rex is stunned to find that Damon is pregnant after their one-time hook-up, especially since he knows nothing about alphas and omegas. However, he sure is sweet as he pursues Damon and vows to help raise their child. Their interactions are so hot, definitely not for those under 18! They work hard to establish a relationship before claiming each other. I love the other characters in the town, there are some funny moments. The dragon shifters are my favourites. I'm really looking forward to more books in this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Absolutely fantastic!!! This book is a true to life of how it would feel to become an alpha shifter in your 40s. I really enjoyed reading Rex discovering his other side and that it wasn’t just plain sailing. Day is just gorgeous, sassy, snarky and full of fire, reading the struggles of his omega side and the surprise pregnancy felt real to me as well, life is not all roses and easy acceptance, it takes work and the story reflected the work both characters had to do to find their HEA. The story has spice, humour, love and beautiful babies, which are my favourite kind of stories. I really enjoyed reading and learning more about the pack and the development of Shifter Sanctuary and the little hints of the next book. Overall 5 stars from me, Anna did another fantastic job with this book. I would have read it in one sitting but I fell asleep. 🤩 Highly recommended to all who love shifter books containing MPreg.
4.5⭐️ The world building is so fun and creative. I loved the premise, which I’ve not run into before. Alphas have been extinct for generations when Rex’s dormant inner Alpha comes out during a club hookup with omega Damon. It’s such a cool idea and easy to understand how absolutely shocking that would be to comprehend for Rex - who thought he was human. This was a wonderful and original take on second chance romance with two excellent main characters. I liked the author’s science-y take on the alpha omega world, it was a great way to ground the story. Rex and Damon have kind of a reverse relationship, and I liked how they use the pregnancy as a time to get to know each other. I also loved catching up with Ollie and Beck and seeing how well their new pack is doing. Loved the characters and the storytelling is excellent!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Sweet, low angst, second chance romance, fated mates
Rex and Damon meet in a bar. There's instant attraction between them, which they act upon, and it has unintended consequences. Rex obviously thought he was human, and when that proves to be wrong, he panicks and runs. Thankfully, both follow their instincts and end up at Shifters Sanctuary. Damon is a mess, believing that Rex wants nothing to do with him. He's never been made to feel valuable or loved. When Rex shows up, he's once again confronted with more life changing information and doesn't react in the best manner. This time, though, he's done running and willing to do whatever it takes and go at Damon's pace. It was really great seeing them slowly get to know one another. Damon slowly lowers his defenses, letting Rex in, and he is the perfect mate for Damon. I absolutely love the found family aspect, and I can't wait for more from this world.
