Manga creator ONE first created One-Punch Man as a web comic, where it quickly went viral, garnering over 10,000,000 hits! Along with One-Punch Man, ONE also writes and draws another series called Mob Psycho 100.
If you try to close your eyes and listen carefully, you can hear Mappa employees crying in the corner at the thought of animating this arc & making it at least half as good as it was in the manga.
The monster association art has really made me realize how awesome all these heroes are like I love Saitama and I want him to show up but I'm glad that this arc is giving the other heroes the spotlight
Pazzesco!
Head bad guy defeated - check Minions of bad guy defeated - check New "Boss" level Monsters appear from nowhere... wait what? While not bad this is kind of annoying and the One Punch Guy did not show once in this volume.
The #1 hero finally appears after 28 volumes of buildup. He better be strong and have a solid reason for his absence, as his powers seem related to Blackhole/Space Time warping.
Fubuki (Blizzard) has had great character development, but her super power growth has been slow, which adds to her intrigue and is why she's my favorite female character so far. Although Suiryu’s sister might be coming up close real soon
Finally, an appearance from the number one hero Blast and even he doesn't realise how strong Saitama is. That poor sword blade lol. Poor King. Poor Amai mask. Heroes vs monsters in an all out smack down. Now up to date until next year.

Blast has finally arrived , but the heroes battle is balanced on a precipice , it’s anti climatic that lower level villains are looking more fierce than Orochi and Psychos
I can't remember the last time a comic massacred the main cast as brutally as this since reading The Walking Dead's prison massacre sequence. This volume is not for the faint of heart, there were many heroes lost in the fight this time. Some of the victims were top tier and unexpected. We're not talking red shirts, we're talking fan faves. I don't know if this will follow the takebacksies tropes of traditional DC comics but even if they do there is some seriously graphic murder going on in this volume. I think that it definitely builds the sense of despair in the audience. Even the moment of things turning around again didn't brighten the gloom.
I have a theory that maybe some of the off screen deaths might have been saved by shenanigans via Blast but I don't think everyone's coming back without some sort of major magic or time shenanigans. There were definitely casualties to the overall cast.
If you are faint of heart and have a strong connection to some of the headliners of the series, I might recommend waiting for volume 30 to come out before you read volume 29. I almost wish I had... But at the same time the brutality of it has me excited to see where the author is heading. It takes a lot of courage as an author to do something like this in their stories. They have to have a lot of confidence in their fans as well as the story they are telling. So, even if it was really hard to read this volume, even shocking you, reading it feels like away to express my dedication to the series and faith in the author.
Not a clue why they even bother to show so many of the heroes getting beaten to mincemeat and pretending they are as good as dead when we know nothing ever sticks in this series. Incredible: a series that’s all about hitting hard and moving fast, yet it loses all reason to exist once it gets lost in the fighting.
not a lot going on yet… but what is going on is like a nightmare. so damn gory 😭 shit is getting more serious and gone are the days of silliness in One Punch Man…
( also, is it just me or did the illustration quality gone down in this volume? it doesn’t look as impressive as past volumes.)
