Jax Walker is a hard man to resist. He’s tall, dark, and delicious. Harlow didn’t plan on falling for another, with her heart still stuck on Iain. But it’s so hard with him gone. And she’s been aching since they last touched. Two whole years of silent wondering; of desperate sleepless longing. Fate, however, may have other plans. Just as Harlow’s ready to open herself to new love, her whole world is pulled into a twisting and painful spiral. In this new adult novel, readers are consumed by the collision of past and present. Raw and dark, this emotional minefield is the perfect second book in the continuing story of Harlow Jones.
J.C. Hannigan lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband, their two sons, and their dogs. She writes contemporary romance, through which she brings to light awareness of mental health and social challenges.
Like any good Canadian, she loves hiking and carbs.
Consumed was a perfect follow up to Collide! Harlow, our smart, sassy, independent heroine, is back in this sequel, along with her best friend Jenna. Ms. Hannigan also introduces a handful of new characters that her readers will fall in love with: Jamie and Mark, Lucas, Crimson, and--my personal favorite--Jax, a Jason Mamoa look-alike with a kind and caring heart.
Consumed picks up two years after the events in Collide. Harlow and Jenna are at university, and Harlow is still trying to get over her whirlwind, forbidden relationship with her 12th grade English teacher, Iain. Harlow's past and back story are woven organically into Consumed. Along with moments of laughter, hot romance, and suspense, Consumed is primarily a story of letting go and moving on to find happiness in the here-and-now.
There were a few times when I thought I had the story all figured out, but Ms. Hannigan proved me wrong! There are plenty of twists and surprises to keep you on the edge of your seat. I think fans of Collide will love Consumed!
Consumed is book 2 in the Collide series. I enjoyed reading book 1 in this series. However, I fell in love with Jax in this book, and felt that J. C. Hannigan wrote this in a style that far surpassed Collide.
“Your skeletons don’t scare me.”
Harlow is living in Ottawa and continues to have a bond with Jenna. They now live together and have a tight friendship. Although Harlow continues to be the smart and brassy young woman we found her to be in Collide, she has finally met her match in Jax. He is self-assured and knows what he wants. It's not too many pages into the story that we see he wants Harlow and will stop at nothing to convince her of his true and pure intentions.
“Actions equaled consequences.”
Told in first person point of view from Harlow, J. C. Hannigan did a great job reintroducing book one with just enough details to refresh my memory of the characters and highlights from Collide. From there, it was a journey into new and untold facts. The thing that I found most fascinating was the stark contrast between Harlow’s love relationship and interest in this story versus her experience of early love in Collide. She was allowed to be open in her feelings and affections, and this was equally returned by Jax. He was truly a male character that did all the right things and made me swoon with each move he made. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to read this series and look forward to more books by this author.
I’m delighted to say that this particular sequel is of the type that works well as a follow-up. Not only does the story read in that way, the author has worked at introducing relevant information from the original tale into this second instalment. The necessary snippets are drip-fed to the reader as the story progresses. It is not a force-fed back-story; which I’ve seen in other attempts at a sequel. I believe this author has done the job thoroughly and properly. Harlow Jones, the central character came alive for me in Collide, which is the first offering. In this new tale, Consumed, that same character becomes more complex, more believable and altogether more human. The imagery is well described throughout and the dialogue is natural. The supporting cast are slipped in with some neat timing. There is a healthy mix of new characters and the introduction of some people from the first story. Once again, the author has used imagination and a good knowledge of the different levels of emotions of teenagers and adults alike to bring suspense, conflict and passion to the story. It is essentially a character-driven tale and therefore relationships are a key factor. An entertaining read; even as a standalone.
That was my thought, but I learned a hard lesson. Pursuing the things I wanted, when it came to matters of the heart, was dangerous and foolish. I'd only end up hurt.
I'm a bit heart-broken over this. I was really cheering for Harlow and Iian. But Iian is MIA after serving his sentence. No call, letter, visit, nothing. But can she ever trust someone again???? That is t question. But when she meets a nice attractive guy in one of her classes, she just might. This was a great follow-up to Collide.
Consumed is a follow on from book 1, Collide, following Harlow's footsteps and her feelings as she moves on to university life. Consumed and guilt written from her memories she finds it hard to move on. bottling everything up, she finds it hard to talk to people and is filled with anxiety. with a nasty blast from the not so distant past, can she uphold her mind and defeat the depression? or will she continue to wallow in self pity and hatred her whole university life?
Another fantastic read from JC Hannigan. This is eye opening and captivating from a young girl who suffers with mental health. A girl who struggles to live with a sordid and tainted past. It's mind blowing how this author is able to portray a girl living life riddled with anxiety. Apart from a few times, when I found Harlow's attitude and thoughts to be frustrating I really enjoyed this amazing book. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books blog
I could go on and on about this book. First let me say, you need to read the first book in the series, Collide and then Consumed. You may be a little lost. This book was fantastic! I couldn't put it down. Harlow leaves behind the pain and hurt of her hometown to attend college. She has lived through some traumatic experiences but she tries to not let it stop her. Until she comes face to face with a handsome young man. One who changes everything for her. I see this book is about letting go of your past and facing your inner demons to get what everyone deserves and that is love!!! I refuse to put spoilers in my reviews but give this book a chance. You won't regret it.
This is the second book in this series and they must be read in order. The more I read of this series the more I love it. Harlow is in her second year of college and only has a year left. She still finds herself thinking about Iain often. She hasn’t heard anything from him since his arrest. She feels differently about their relationship now. She doesn’t love him any less however she sees it from a different vantage point now. She went after Iain and that caused him to get arrested. She feels guilty for affecting his life like that. Then on her first day of class in her first class she meets Jax. He is beyond handsome and he wakes up all kinds of feelings in her. Feelings she has never had before. Stronger than she had for Iain but she fights them out of guilt. Part of her still loves Iain so she shouldn’t feel this way about another man. Jax is persistent. He is interested in Harlow and refuses to go away so easily. Somehow he knows just what Harlow needs when she needs it. So after a bit she agrees to go on a coffee date with him and those turn into real dates. Jax is incredibly patient with Harlow; he knows she has secrets however he never pushes to know. She will tell him when she is ready. Then both she and Jenna have thought they have seen Andrew around but that can’t be he moved away with his mother after his father was put in prison. Harlow is finding herself feeling more for Jax than she ever felt for Iain. She slowly feels less guilty about being with Jax and finds herself being able to see a future with him. She is ready to move on from Iain and wants to do that with Jax. Will she be able to do that or will her past come back to visit her again? I love Jax. I liked Iain also but there was always that fact that he was her teacher and that is wrong. Jax has this way about him; he is calm and sure of himself. He knows when to ask and push Harlow and when to just let her be. Jenna also finds herself trying again with a guy that works with Harlow at the bean. Most of this book is about the girls growing and trying to be normal college girls. Harlow also makes a new friend Crimson. Crimson is bubbly and happy. She brings someone from Harlow’s past into her present. This puts a strain on Harlow and Crimson’s early delicate friendship. This book took some turns that I never saw coming and just like the first is a little dark. Every twist and turn this book took pulled me in more and more. Harlow is such an amazing and interesting character. She has been through so much and while sometimes it makes her want to pull away from everything and everyone she doesn’t. Jenny is pretty great too. She is still trying to come to terms with what happened and giving away her daughter. The other characters introduced in this book are great too. I can’t wait to read more about these characters in the next book in this series. I look forward to reading other books by J.C. Hannigan in the future.
I absolutely could not put these books down! JC Hannigan did a wonderful job bringing a rather forbidden love to life, and to top it all off, it was done in the first person! This, I feel, is a huge compliment to her as a reader can potentially get lost within the character as the story line progresses. Be sure when reading these books that you read Collide first, and then pick up Consumed. While I feel Consumed could be read as a stand alone, there were definitely some points that would have the reader scratching their head.
When Harlow Jones transfers to a Catholic School, she didn't expect to feel an instant pull to her English teacher, Mr Bentley. Shameless, shy flirting was the first step to landing the hot teacher into her web, and falling for him was only a bonus. At least in the beginning. When things go amiss in Harlow's life, who does she run to? Iain Bentley. Whom she had no idea lived in the house that she frantically attempted to escaped into. A riveting, quick, almost insta-love that had me begging for more as I turned each page. This was a ringer of a story, and left me heartbroken for Harlow in the end. Her feelings were true to what one would feel in her situation, and that she didn't ignore them.
Two years after a whirlwind of a forbidden romance has left Harlow Jones in pieces. Moving to Ottawa after graduating High School at the top of her class (even after some hearty allegations against her!), she steps into her new life almost renewed. Almost. The pain is still present when Iain's name is brought up. The necklace that encompasses her neck is still present. And, when she thinks she sees him, her heart rate picks up. Can she move on? Can she get past what once was?
The ending had me in absolute just disbelief. This is definitely one series that is a must read for anyone who likes forbidden love. It was very well written with a relatable character, and many relatable instances that a reader could see themselves in. This book left me wanting more in the sense that there were many more questions that went unanswered. A job well done to JC Hannigan on a really well written book!
In this story, Harlow has learned the error of her ways; however, the consequences still ache like fresh wounds. She still has strong feelings for Iain; however, someone else threatens to take over that special place in Harlow's heart. As she dredges up past relationships with several walks down memory lane, she can't help but wonder how a new relationship will help defeat her demons. This story is about her struggle to find peace.
"Consumed" is a sequel which probably should not be read as a stand alone since the story often references back to book one "Collide". Book one ends with Harlow graduating from high school in North Bay and "Consumed" picks up with university life in Ottawa where she shares an apartment with Jenna, her best friend. Jenna is also referenced as a major character in "Collide" as well as Iain and both still share major emotional and/or physical roles in book two.
Whereas I found "Collide" to be a darker story, I did start to see the light at the end of the tunnel in "Consumed". Both stories referenced some traumatic scenes; however, I liked that the author was still able to capture Harlow gravitating to the right person with not only her mind, but her heart as well. The emotions that were portrayed in "Consumed" have very vivid descriptions which allowed me to relate to the way that she felt as the story progressed.
I will say that I was a little unhappy with the way that this book concluded. I felt like Iain was still a struggle in her heart which made me want a book three. Overall though, I loved reading about Harlow Jones! Her story showed perpetual strength and courage even though the author revealed tendencies of cowardice and fear in some instances. It makes the characters seem human which allows readers to share an interest in the story itself as it unfolds. I recommend this book to my club members who enjoy fiction with a twist of suspense. Book two, like book one, does have some scenes that would be deemed for a mature audience due to the sexual and violent content.
This was honestly one of those books that was completely made by the last 1/4 of the story. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first 3/4, but it didn't get special until the end for me. Consumed picks up 2 years from the end of the story in Collide and follows Harlow through the beginning of her third year at University. She is still dealing with what happened to end her relationship with Iain and while she is functioning, she isn't really living. All of that changes when she meets Jax in a class they share. This is a well written book and I enjoyed getting to know Harlow better and she allowed herself to begin to "thaw" out and enjoy what Jax brought to her life. She is a complex young woman dealing with an emotional situation that would have been difficult for someone much older and she seemed to handle it well. I loved Jax. He seemed to see something in Harlow that wasn't visible to most. It was fun to watch him court her and care for her. When an unfortunate blast from the past blindsided Harlow, it was wonderful to see him stay with her and process the information versus running away. One of the things that seemed to happen between Harlow and Jax is that he seemed to "fix" her without necessarily trying to. He was there for her and supported her without taking over or thinking for her. There was also an element of suspense in the story, but it was subtle. Just when we thought Harlow and Jax might be headed for a happy ending, two big things happened. Iain reenters Harlow's life by accident and the suspense element of the story exploded in another horrible blast from the past. I liked and appreciated how both issues were handled. Consumed leaves us with an ending that realistically could finish the story and would leave me satisfied as a reader, but wondering what happens next in Harlow's story. It's a good thing I know there is another book in the story so we can find out.
Harlow was so relatable to me in this book that it was crazy. In a good way. Collide, was about Harlow and her relationship with her 12th grade teacher so now, in Consumed, two years later and not a sound from him, she's in college, trying to live her life the way any twenty-one-year-old should. Not the party type, just to be clear!
While trying to move past the thoughts/feelings for Iain, she meets a guy named Jax and he is all kinds of sexy. And scary. He sounds scary to me. He's perfect. I loved him! Don't get me wrong, I loved Iain but Jax is soooo much better for Harlow. He's younger (still older than her but closer in age) and he gets her. They have an unspoken connection that really works and it's beautiful. He doesn't stop working his way into Harlow's life and once she finally accepts it, everything falls into place and you get this beautiful, suspenseful, emotional story with some really sexy moments. ;)
I was sad to see so little scenes with Iain because he did have a major part in the first book but reading Consumed, it makes sense. She's trying to move on with her life-move on from a guy she really didn't know and I think seeing him more often than she should, it wouldn't have worked out. She wouldn't have grown.
The side characters added to the story and that one moment (or moments) that a blast from the past showed up, I was worried that something bad would happen.
Harlow's story was beautiful and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Highly recommended!

This is maybe the best 2nd book of a trilogy I’ve read ever. The author has me totally on the edge of my seat wondering and hoping and wishing and thinking about what could happen. Harlow is still insecure, but she’s finding herself in college with Jenna as her roommate. She hasn’t heard anything from Iain and she’s still dwelling on that failed relationship.
Enter Jax Walker! And boy, does he make an entrance. At less than a quarter way through the book, he’s trying to convince Harlow that there is something between them:
“Come on, I know you feel it. I can’t be the only one who feels this...connection.” His voice grew deeper, almost husky, the rumbling low tones vibrating into my core, making my pulse do strange things.
The one thing this book was full of was secrets. Everyone is keeping secrets from everyone and it got a little overwhelming sometimes trying to decide if they were better kept as secrets or if they should share.
However, Jax was totally committed to Harlow and wouldn’t let her get away with backtracking and trying to leave him. At one point he even told her that if she ran, he’d chase her. ***Swoon***
POSSIBLE SPOILERS -- MAY NOT WANT TO READ AFTER THIS:::: After the epilogue of book one, I expected Iain to play a bigger role in this book in person, but he didn’t show up till the end of the novel and then I sort of started to hate Harlow for even thinking about letting him back in her life when Jax was so perfect. Of course, there wasn’t any resolution which I’m assuming is what book 3 will do.
**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**
This instalment had a great balance on the romance as well as the drama.
I really didn't expect the plot line that we got here but I loved the suspense of it all. They call them plot twists for a reason and these ones were unexpected but awesome.
I also loved Harlow's character development. While she grew a lot in Collide, it was great to see how she developed from those events in turn years later.
Everything builds at a great pace here, making this a super easy novel to read and enjoy. I worried that it would be a bit of a slump (because it is book 2 in a trilogy); but that is far from the case. This is a solid sequel that not only wraps up previous events but also gets you excited to see what is in store for the finale.
I couldn’t wait to get started with Consumed, I was looking forward to seeing what happened next with Harlow as Iain was now in prison because of his and Harlow’s relationship. Harlow was now living with Jenna and going to University. In comes Jax Walker, OMG he is an Adonis and most girls are falling over themselves trying to get to him.
He seems to have taken a liking towards Harlow although, she has built even more walls after learning that Iain has been released but not contacted her. She is still in love with him, how could she possibly entertain the idea of seeing someone else?
She also makes an unlikely friend in Crimson, red hair, red name, is was a little weird but Harlow felt a bit sorry for her.
This book sees the characters more mature as it is about 2-3 years later. It brings up some ghosts that Harlow was trying to forget, and a frightening experience too. No wonder she has trust issues, and just when she lets Jax in, guess who turns up…Iain. What will happen with that? well you will have to read the book to find out.
Overall this book deals with a lot of different issues some which are quite horrible experiences but it all makes a compelling read and helps you bond with the characters.
I have really loved this series. I hope there is a third book in the works.
3.5 Stars! Consumed is the second book by J. C. Hannigan in the Collide Series. Hannigan resurrects the characters from book one with such ease and comfort it, is like no time has passed. Even though Consumed is set two years after Collide, it effortlessly shows that Harlow is still trying to deal with the consequences and heartache associated with her soul crushing past.
Living with Jenna, their friendship is the only thing that has survived the past. As Harlow is determined to finish college and not be distracted by anything else, she is thrown into a whirlwind of confusion when she meets Jax Walker. Trying to ignore the chemistry between them, Harlow is determined that love, romance and happiness is not in her future.
Jax Walker is nothing but persistence. With his beautiful heart and honest soul he is unwavering in his feelings for Harlow. Whilst he slowly resurrects Harlow’s heart from its self-imposed isolation, Jax realises that there is more then meets the eye, as her past collides with her present.
Consumed continues to pull at your heartstrings, having the reader want nothing but happiness for Harlow. Hannigan’s writing allows the reader to be completely present in the action and the feelings of each character. This book gives life to Harlow after trauma and will know doubt leave you wanting more.
Consumed brings us to two years after Collide. Harlow is in college, working hard towards her degree and finding out where she wants to go with her life. She's still close with Jenna, living together with roommates. She hasn't heard a word from Iain and though she's sort of sworn off all men, she finally meets one who turns her insides a bit with interest.
In dealing over the last two years with no closure from Iain, Harlow has worked through things herself. She's matured a lot and come to understand things she didn't really see before. It was interesting to watch as Harlow kind of unfolded things and how she was able to see things from a different light and change her overall take-away from the past.
Consumed brings Harlow back to other parts of her past she hasn't found closure with, and its true what they say, some demons will take their bite out of you and go away, others linger haunting you when you least expect it.
I really enjoyed, how J.C. Hannigan pulled this story together. She shows us how mature and grown up Harlow has become in comparison to how she was in Collide. Harlow has processed and come to terms with a lot from her past and the changes are evident as the story goes on.
The emotions that are packed within the pages of Consumed by J.C. Hannigan are raw and intense. After reading Collide, I could not wait to read Consumed.
Harlow has been through a lot in her life, and two years into college, she is finally starting to open herself up to others. I loved that the friendship between her and Jenna continued. Jenna was a beautiful and strong character that I think Harlow NEEDED. Jax is a charming, handsome and funny character that is the reason for Harlow learning to love again. He was a stand-up guy that did what he could to prove to Harlow that she was worth it and loved her through her flaws.
In Consumed, you are given glimpses of Harlow’s past from Iain, to Andrew and even Cole. It is a roller coaster of emotions and in some parts you’re happy for her and at other parts your heart it breaking for her. As much as I enjoyed Consumed, I felt it was slightly incomplete. I wanted more happiness for the story. I was bummed that when Iain came back in the story, he was gone just as quick. Regardless, Hannigan knows how to write a daring story with the scary truths of life and raw emotion. She knows how to write about love and how, when it’s real, you feel it deep down in your bones. I am looking forward to more from J.C. Hannigan
5 stars, this book was an exciting roller coaster ride!! I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
He's tall, dark, and deliciously handsome. Not exactly what Harlow is looking for. Her heart's still stuck on Iain Bentley. But it's been a painful struggle since she last saw him. Two years of silence and wondering; of desperate sleepless longing. And Jax Walker is a hard man to resist. Just as she's prepared to open herself to new love, Harlow's whole world is thrown into a painful spiral.
Harlow is back in this second installment and she’s just as sassy and independent as she was in the first book. We meet Harlow’s best friend Jenna and we pick up 2 years after the end of Collide. Jenna and Harlow are in college and Harlow is slowly trying to get over her crazy relationship with her english teacher. In walks Jax and he turns Harlow’s world upside down. But just when she thinks she can start a new life with a new man, her life is thrown into a complete unbalance. This series was amazing!!! I loved it so much!!!

Consumed is Book 2 in The Collide Series by J.C. Hannigan. This book takes place two years after Collide. Harlow is in college and trying to figure out what she really wants and what she really feels. I actually read this book in one day. I didn't eat or take my 20 naps that I usually do when reading. Page after page you feel the raw emotions of what Harlow is going through. Consumed was full of suspense and old characters resurfacing.
The new characters that were introduced were all likeable. Can I say I have a huge crush on Jax. Ajax a.k.a Jax joins Harlow in a class one day and basically he never left her side even though she wanted him too.....initially.
Overall, Consumed was beautifully done. J.C. Hannigan had me sold with Jax and Harlow (we all know that I disliked Iain with a passion and still do). I will also add that the author was very evil for where she left off Consumed and I will be patiently stalking her until the 3rd book is written. Another great story, face paced, emotional and suspenseful read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.
Consumed is the second book in this series and picks up 2 years after Collide. Harlow along with Jenna has left North Bay and they are both now attending University in Ottawa they have both forged a new life and left their troubled pasts behind them. Harlow has a new man in her life in the form of Smoking hot 'Jax' but the secrets from her past are holding her back from exploring this new relationship, and the love she had for Iain is still there buried somewhere deep inside will she find the strength to let it go and give Jax a chance. What happens when the past doesn't stay in the past? I loved the continuation of Harlows story and as with Collide I had devoured it in 24hrs at the end it did feel like things were still unfinished for Harlow so I'm glad the will be a book 3 coming soon and hopefully Harlow will finally get her HEA. A massive 5 stars from me and definitely a series I will be recommending. (These books do need to be read in order for you to completely understand the story. Book 1 Collide and then Consumed)
I seriously could not read this book fast enough! But if you haven't read Collide yet, back away - this review contains spoilers.
You have been warned..
Harlow is such a relatable character. She's still not over Iain, even after two years and not a word from him - first loves are the most difficult to let go of. But now, at school, she meets someone new... Jax Walker. He's drool-worthy.. There's just something about him makes Harlow feel comfortable and safe. But when she winds up going to the hospital after an assault by Andrew Cooper, Iain unexpectedly shows up at her door after she comes home. She doesn't know what to do. Her past feelings and current feelings are struggling to see which will win. After talking to Jax and explaining her twelfth grade romance with Mr. Bentley, he still wants to be with her. I had a mix of emotions at the end of this book - I was angry at Iain for showing up and I was relieved that Jax wanted to stay with Harlow.
Terrific Sequel! This book is a great read and a flawless addition to the series. It flowed perfectly allowing the reader to get caught up in the story and experience it along with the characters. I actually began reading this book first, having not read book 1 but I kept feeling that I was missing out on something, I'm not sure if I really was as the author does offer up back story, or if I was just thinking this way because I knew that there was a book that preceded this one. I bought book one and I think that I had a better reading experience with this book because of that. Harlow is such a great character, she is real and relatable, and smart. Her feeling are a rolling storm of turmoil and I really felt for her. I also loved the absolutely swoon-worthy Jax. He is truly a beautiful character inside and out and is so kind and understanding that you can't help but to love him. I recommend this series and can't wait for more from this author. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Harlow is trying to get her life back on track after the events of 'Collide'. In University, has a job and a best friend: all she needs is her heart to move forward from Iain. Enter Jax who gets who her heart pumping more than anyone else since Iain. Will she take the chance?
Harlow spends a lot of time doubting her relationship with Iain was actually a relationship and if he was using her. With Iain absent from her life, the introspection could potentially bring her down. Jax is damaged himself but this means that he is empathetic and can read and understand Harlow.
The secrets of her past come back to haunt her, forcing her to confront the past and deal with the emotional and physical consequences. Harlow, as a character, seems maturer in this instalment and we start to see her become more comfortable with herself before events bring it all crashing down.
A nail biting, emotional read that had me gasping and crying out for more. I really want to see what is next for Harlow as her journey is set to continue.
If you haven't read the first book, Collide, I highly recommend reading that first! I was so excited to receive an ARC of this novel. I couldn't wait to read about the next adventures in Harlow's life. I certainly was not disappointed. This book picks up about two years after the end of Collide. Harlow's life is moving forward but her heart is still stuck in the past. She was involved in a highly forbidden relationship and is having a hard time moving forward. I loved watching her get involved with a new love, a handsome guy named Jax, while trying to reconcile the feelings she was still working through from her previous relationship. This book had some surprises and twists I never saw coming. Consumed was well written and a great sequel to Collide! As a side note: Not sure if the author has plans to write more about this story, but I'd love to hear more about Jax's past! Great job, J.C. Hannigan! Thank you for the ARC!
I was expecting Harlow and Iain to have some ups and downs for sure but I thought something might give for them...but maybe just too much was at stake for them. It was nice to see Harlow and Jenna's friendship survived.
After everything that happened with Iain, Harlow feels completely guilty because she per-sued him and he had more too lose but in the end they both knew what they were doing. Now it's two years later and Harlow's determined to finish College without any distractions. Not even Jax...that is until he wears her down enough for coffee.
I love how they built up their relationship and how Jax knew Harlow had secrets but never pried information from her. Even though I rooted for Iain and Harlow (and I was secretly hoping Iain would come back into the picture and they'd be together) that was until we started noticing how perfect Jax is for Harlow. Something about them just fits.
I've yet to read Collateral but I plan on reading it soon...
So much like Collide, I finished Consumed in one day. The things I loved about Collide are what I also loved in Consumed. The author writes with enough description to visualize everything clearly without adding a bunch of boring fluff that you'd find yourself skipping over. You get to meet new people, possibly revisit old, and learn things that we didn't know before. Your attention is kept throughout the whole book. There isn't any point that it is boring or pointless.
When I started the book I was like I'm not going to like Jax. I refuse!! I want Iain back!! And then Jax spoke and I was like well fine.
Can she just have brother husbands and have them both!? Because I don't know how she could ever choose. I'm glad I'm not Harlow.
I can't wait to read the next book about Harlow, Iain and Jax!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Harlow has been at university for two years already and is now in her final year. Harlow although has moved on from all that happened in collide her mind still lingers in the past to that unforbidden love she knows she needs to move on but hasn't found it easy until Jax.
I finished this book within a day and I loved how Harlow had let Jenna in and that they where very good friends. I loved her relationship with Jax to they where very well suited. He is very charming.
You have to read collide first as throughout consumed snippets are mentioned which you wouldn't understand if you didn't read collide first.
I did enjoy this book it was an easy read didn't grip me as much as the first one did, I also felt that the build up to the major events which didn't come right until the end had me slightly irritated, I could have seen some happen way before they did.
Consumed is a well-written sequel to Collide, full of turmoil and inner conflict. The characters were well developed, especially the leading lady, Harlow. Despite many heartaches and past baggage, she is a strong-willed, determined young lady. Going into Consumed, I had my doubts about the leading man, Jax, because much like Harlow I was still clinging to feelings for Iain. I didn't see how Harlow could possible fall for Jax or any man other than Iain. Little did I know, that by the end of the book, I would be torn between Jax and Iain. Well done, J.C. Hannigan! I love them both!
This was the second book I've read by J.C. Hannigan, and I have to say that I am impressed with her writing. I am now impatiently waiting for book three to be published. J.C. Hannigan has a new fan, and I'll be telling everyone to read these books.
JC Hannigan has done it again. She has hit another homerun. This book was awesome. I loved how now Harlow is older and is more wiser or is she? Jax is an interesting twist in this book and I loved him. He is an awesome character and was wrote very well. Even though Harlow is older she wrote her true to her age and not younger or way to older which some authors tend to do. I just love all the experiences that she and her friends old and new go on and how she is able to work through more problems. Can't say any more really or I would give the book away. I was surprised with the ending though and was surprised at how fast it came to an end. It left me wanting more!
Language wise she could have not swore in it and it would still have been good and there is some sexual content but it is not graphic.
