Obsession takes the dark fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel and spins it into an intense, unflinching exploration of trauma, grief, and desire in an MMF dynamic.
As with all of Mila’s books, the term "dark" barely scratches the surface (the urethra scene still sends me), her stories are gritty, raw, and unrelenting.
Mila’s ability to tackle complex, often taboo subjects with both sensitivity and brutality is UNMATCHED. She navigates the delicate balance between religion and trauma, crafting moments that feel almost reverential before flipping the narrative into something violent and I love every darn moment.
Her characters aren’t just battling external forces, they’re waging war with their own pasts, and it’s that internal conflict that makes them so compelling. The violence is never unjustified; it’s a necessary part of their healing, a messy, bloody path toward redemption that feels both earned and inevitable.
I’ll never stop saying that Mila’s writing itself is almost poetic, carrying a rhythm that matches the emotional intensity of the story. Mila’s world-building is immersive, pulling you into a universe where nothing is black and white, and where even the most horrific acts can be understood within the context of the characters’ pain and desire for healing.
Another absolute knock out by Mila 🖤

Obsession is a dark and twisted Hansel and Gretel reimagining. Hans and Maggie are step-siblings trapped in a creepy religious cult, and Hans decides to save Maggie from being forced to marry some old man. He gets help from Xander, and together, the three of them escape. The story moves fast, which I liked, and the mix of danger and forbidden romance kept me hooked.
This book goes all in on showing how religion can be used to control people, especially women. It’s not afraid to dive into the trauma that comes from that. Watching the characters break free and figure out their own truths was really satisfying and added something deeper to the story.
The relationships are dark and so forbidden. The step-sibling thing between Hans and Maggie is full of tension, and Xander adds even more to the mix. Their throuple is spicy—like, seriously spicy. There’s pet play and switching dynamics that make things even dirtier. But what I loved is how they all support and explore with each other, even in such a messed-up situation.
I also really enjoyed seeing familiar characters pop up. The cameos and connections to other books in the series were such a cool touch. It’s great how Mila makes everything fit together without making you feel like you have to read them all. Plus, the dark forest cult setting gave it a spooky vibe that worked so well with the Hansel and Gretel theme.

Where do I even start?!
I fall in love with Milas writing more and more with every book, but especially this series. The way she writes the stories of people healing from not only general trauma but the trauma religion created is so healing, I'm sure not only for myself but so many others!
Hans, Maggie and Xander have the most beautiful twisted bond!
After Xander meets Maggie when she is young he vows to save her from the cult she was born into, what he didn't plan for is to in the future fall in love with Hans as well as Maggie. All he wants is to avenge his mother who was a victim of the cult, and to save Maggie and Hans.
Maggie is a sweet girl who from the start questions the purpose of aspects of her religion as she learns more and more, while she has a fight to want to be free she knows nothing outside her God and cult.
Hans is a hurt, emotionally scared, and sweet boy just trying to heal himself through k!nk. He is so in love with Maggie from a young age and wants nothing more than to be loved by her and Xander, when Maggie learns what he needs to heal he is so scared she will run but when she learns all he is she simply wants to learn to help heal him.
I'll say it till my last dying breath, the way @milacrawfordbooks writes her stories makes so many people feel seen, and makes a place of healing for so many people. I don't think there will go a day where I'll stop loving her books 🖤

I didn’t think I needed a Hansel and Gretel reimagining even a loose reimagining but as always Mila Crawford knew what I needed before I did!

This is kinda hard to review without spoiling because it’s just SO good and a wild ride!
Xander, Margarete and Hans the three of them shouldn’t make sense but yet they do!
My FAVORITE part of this book was seeing Margarete come into her own, that was just amazing and so empowering I LOVE it!
Of course it wouldn’t be a Mila Crawford book without lots of steam!
I was beyond luck to ARC read this book!

A very dark loose Reimagining of Hansel and gretel with a sprinkle of the storyline of the handmaids tale show in it. It is a short read with some good but very dirty spice in it. Maggie and Hans grow up in essentially a cult based on a religion similar to the show handmaids tale, but Hans gets them out and rescued by Xander; a Stanger from the past. Check trigger warning before reading.

This novella was soo good it was super dark. Also super spicy, I think this may be the darkest book I’ve read, & I loved it.. I was gripped from the very first page. Some bits were heart breaking.. Especially Wht they all went through, the chemistry was off the chart.. please check trigger warnings

Mila never disappoints with her books! Spice, plot, characters you wish would come to life & ruin you. Some new k!nks added that were top tier and you don’t find often haha thoroughly enjoyed it! Getting to see/hear about some old faces was the icing on this cake!

Sounds like a PBS special on doms and subs
I normally love Mila's books, this one not so much. The FMC goes from a being controlled in a cult to a threesome two days later. One of the MMC's teaches her about doms and subs and it just reads like a PBS special. Hope the next book in the series redeems it.

This is definitely for my dark romance girlies!
Mila and this Darkly Ever After series has had me in a choke hold since the first book and it seems like it is only getting darker. This is a Hansel and Gretel retelling with a ton of religious trauma and cult vibes. The book isn't particularly long but it will have your feelings all over the place for sure! Learning about "The Covenant" reminded me of that one Criminal Minds episode but instead of the BAU coming it was a hot masked man who is maybe a serial unaliver. I learned a lot about different kinks reading this series and like I said this one for me was the darkest and that includes kinks. One of the MMCs, Xander, did such a great job explaining to the FMC, Maggie, why the other MMC, Hans, liked what he liked and why even though at first introduction to degradation and humiliation it could sound like he hates him and is actually hurting him but really this is what he wants and needs. Maggie coming out of the cult had never been exposed to this type of sex, she wasn't really exposed to any kind but still, watching her go through her emotions and seeing what she likes then getting to the ending where my girl is absolutely a 180° switch (pun intended) from who she was originally was really fun to see.
The spice in here definitely got a 4 on my scale at least I was debating a 5 because there was some things I had never seen in a book that made me immediately tighten up but at the same time had be interested cause I need to know how that actually feels cause I can't imagine, I'm also not into pain like that so I don't think it would translate well but anyway it's fun to learn/see new things cause there's so much that doesn't really get touched on that makes for interesting reads.

Anther dark and delicious read from Mila Crawford.
Hans and Margarete are step siblings who were raised in basically a religious cult. The leaders preach that women are sinful and therefor should serve men without complaint. Margarete knows that she's close to the age where she'll be forced to marry whoever the elders choose. He could be kind to her or cruel and old enough to be her grandfather. Hans doesn't want to see his step sister, someone he loves as more than a brother should, suffer and be forced to wed and bed someone against her will.
That's where Xander comes in. He's beautiful, dangerous, and a killer. He's also the obsessed with the siblings and will do ANYTHING to release them from the cult.
If he's a Dom written by Mila best BELIEVE he will get my slutty little heart pitter-PATTERING. Xander was SUCH a great Dom and lover. He truly cared about these two and was the foundation for them finally living their own lives the way they wanted. I also loved seeing familiar faces from the other characters in this series (but this can totally be read and fully enjoyed without reading the other books).

4⭐️ I loved this story. You might say I’m obsessed with it. See what I did there?! Anyways. The whole book challenges religion and its man made ideals of how women should behave and their place in society. It unpacks religious trauma and invites the characters to seek their own truth rather than handing what the righteous deliver with their tainted sacraments. I loved watching this all unfold with such diverse characters and their equally horrific backstories.
I really enjoyed this step bro angle and the tabo sibling play, it felt so naughty and forbidden and just added to the heat level. The spice is amazeballs, I enjoyed the puppy play and switch dynamics in their throuple. I also liked the Hansel and Gretel reimagining vibes set in the religious cult dark forest setting. Very spooky!
The cameo’s and character crossovers from others in Mila’s world with all their little Easter eggs were really cool! I love seeing them again and how they’re interconnected but with such different journeys.

Margarete and Hans, my precious babies, they’re step-siblings who grew up in a cult. And as Maggie approaches the age to marry, helluva things happen - one of them being Xander. The throuple they form is one of the most f’cked up ones, in a good way… you can just feel the passion and tenderness Xander has for his two lovers, he’s stern when necessary and caring too. The way the relationship between the three of them developed is h o t and perfect. Ugh don’t get me started on the pet names because I’m a goner for them! Just when I thought puppy couldn’t be more deliciously f!lthy ofc Mila Crawford had to show me that there are things beyond (and wilder than) my imagination lol. And Mistress? Hello? Maggie had me swooning so hard, I love seeing a FMC who knows what she wants and goes for it. There are dark themes so be mindful of your own TW, but this is such a perfect fast-paced, smutty, naughty story.

When I tell you this author rendered me speechless through most of this book… I had to pick up my jaw from the floor multiple times! This involved a covenant and is a MMF, you are in for a ride throughput this whole book. Maggie and Hans were raised in this messed up world, with some very awful beliefs of what men and woman should be, thankfully they have a Xander to protect them both & boy does he take care of both of them. The whole dynamic between Hans & Xander is very intense, it will have you needed to take a breather for sure & then you add in Maggie whom is finding herself within this whole world. Maggie becomes her true self throughout the years & things between these three get very intense especially towards the end. Xander is a very dominant man & what he does with Hans is crazy, but add in some Maggie and it’s perfect. I absolutely love these three together & their story was one of my favorites & the spice was out of this world!

If Mila wrote it, I’m going to devour it! This series seriously just keeps getting better and better. A dark twisted Hansel and Gretel retelling? YES please 🧎🏼♀️➡️🧎🏼♀️➡️I love how Xander helps Hans and Maggie embrace their true selves. Obsession is a quick (under 150 pages) MMF spicy read that will have you hooked! Please, please check the trigger warnings before reading. This series is not for the faint of heart. If you’re like me and look at a TW list as a shopping list…..this book is for you. 😉

Obsession follows Hans, Xander, and Maggie. All three have been affected by the brutality of the Covenant with their laws and religion they hide behind.
The chemistry between these three is intense, and the immediate connection they feel for each other is everything. They will do anything to stay together and explore the freedom to be whoever they want to be.

Another hit from Mila Crawford. I read this in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down.
Rescued from a religious cult and coming to terms with the person you are without the shame and guilt that so often comes with that. That’s GOTTA be tough. But Maggie, luckily, had Xander and Hans to help her through.

I love how Mila makes everything burn so quickly and then throws in the spice!
These two step siblings and escaping a horrific cult and with the help of a masked man they learn about more then they anticipated.
I can’t get enough of how the limits are pushed and the dynamics fall into place so perfectly.
Another amazing quick read done by Mila full of hot steamy spice with some anti religion sprinkled in!
If you like retellings and fast burns this is a perfect series for you!
