Sweet Surrender: Carson-Fox Resorts Book One

Rate this book
Savannah

Betrayed by the one person I thought I could count on, I had no choice but to try and glue the fragments of my shattered life back together.

I thought I was at rock bottom, and there was only one way from there, right?

Wrong.

I thought things couldn't get any worse.

I didn't know just how wrong I was.

Nash

She was my obsession.

I craved to own her.

Control her.

So I found a way to make her mine.

I offered her a choice, a chance to change her life and unburden herself of the mess she'd found herself in.

But I wanted something in return.

Her surrender.

How can the heroine be so fucking dumb? I was embarrassed for her seriously.

The trigger warnings were so good like stalker romance, somnophilia, dub-con then dedication was amazing as well! I was like wow the book is going to be awesome.

And when I started reading the book the results were disappointment & only disappointment :(

If you are looking for a good stalker book, this one is for you. Ms. Hunter gives readers all the twists and turns we are used to with a little stalker on the side. Nash Carson, billionaire and owner/partner of Carson-Fox Casinos, knows how to get what he wants. What he has wanted since the first moment he saw her is Savannah Miller. Here is where it gets a lot stalker-like. Nash gets to know Savannah without her knowing. When he is finally ready, he inserts himself into her life and makes her an offer she cannot refuse. Savannah can't deny her instant attraction to Nash but refuses to give into him forcing his way into her life.

I did not think I would like this book because of the way that Nash goes about getting what he wants. Nash grew on me. When I found out more about what he did for Savannah before and after he got her, I could not help but like him just a little. This man had found the woman of his dreams and refused to let anything stop him from making that dream come true. Could he have gone about it another way? Of course, but that's not the kind of books I want from Ms. Hunter. I like the darkness that she gives readers. I can't wait to see how Nash's partner, Jesse Fox, falls. He was right there through it all so I know his fall will be just as epic.

I loved this book. It is excellently written and pulled me right into the story. Nash is devilishly perfect for a possessive dominant alpha male. Savannah is fun and sweet with a side of bratty and pettiness. It was a great story with extra steamy scenes. I highly recommend this romance novel. It is a great read.

This book is awesome.. has some dark themes throughout but the mmc stalkerish tenancies are on point and he gives the fmc her happily ever after.. the storyline was decent and the strength of the fmc was unparalleled. Can't wait for Fox's story to come out.

I knew after the Hollows Bay Trilogy and the doozy that E.K. took us on, I was in for a ride with her next book and man what a rollercoaster Nash and Savannah took us on.

Savannah is at the lowest point in her life, an ex that did her wrong, broke, gave up her dreams long ago and just trying to make it in life. She is struggling to get by until Nash shows up in her life wanting to make things better for her and her life. She pushes and pushes and does not make it easy for him.

Nash is a walking talking red flag, he's unhinged, rich, arrogant, calculated, controlling, obsessed and will do anything to get what he wants and what he wants is Savannah. He stopped at nothing to have her bend to his will. Nash really cared and absolutely adored her. I mean, he may have some extreme ways to show it, but he cared none the less.

I loved watching the dynamic of the two and loved seeing their feelings change and progress the way they did. The chemistry between them was insane.

Can't wait for more in this series!!

"What if someone wants to stand on their own two feet, and know they don't need to put their trust in a person who will only break it?"
"But I'm not him, I would never do that to you. If you give me your trust, if you give me your surrender, I promise that I will look after you until the day I die."

These two lines are spoken from our FMC, Savannah, and our MMC, Nash, in the same conversation but not directly back to back. Both of these hit me so hard. When Savannah said the first line, I felt it in my soul. Being asked to put your trust in someone when it's done nothing but hurt you in the past... is terrifying. And Nash has done some interesting things to try and get her in his life the way that he has. (But I mean, I don't think any of us are entirely opposed to some morally grey activities.) But when Nash followed up with what he said... it was a reminder that not all men are the same. There are good ones out there. Now with that being said, they won't do what Nash does to get us in their lives, BUUUUT. Nash is a good man. Nash is the type of man who says things like, "Because it means something to you, sweetheart, and you mean everything to me."

I truly loved being along for the ride of Savannah and Nash's love story. There is a lot to overcome, but they do it. They overcome their hurdles, and they work through things as individuals too. Savannah fights to hold her own, but also does ultimately welcome surrendering and realizing she doesn't have to do it all on her own anymore. She holds Nash accountable for his actions and methods, but also recognizes that she loves him for who he is. This is just a great read for those of us who like these kinds of romances.

I read this one in just over a day and I'm working my way through an advanced read of the second book currently. I can't wait for you all to get your hands on that one because it is proving to be just as fantastic!

No. Just no.

We meet Savannah on one of her worst days ever—she literally cannot catch a break. Every time she manages to breathe, something else comes crashing down. And on this awful day, she meets Nash. Spoiler: it’s not a chance meeting.

Now, I love a good stalker, unhinged, possessive MMC. Give me toxic with devotion and I’ll eat it up. But Nash? He was just ehhh. He prided himself on being her demise. He clipped her wings and enjoyed it. He kept saying he “gave her a choice,” but let’s be real—he didn’t. He knew she had a conscience and exploited it.

Did he have sweet moments? Sure. But they were rare, and buried under his obsession with control. He was the epitome of a manipulative control freak. And here’s what frustrated me most: his excuse. Childhood trauma. He knows exactly what it’s like to have his agency stripped away, so why would he do the same to the woman he claimed to love? How do you become the very thing you hated most and use trauma as justification? The logic wasn’t there.

Now, if he had some control issues, fine. That would’ve made sense. But this was extreme. He controlled every single aspect of Savannah’s life, made decisions without her input, and disregarded her feelings entirely. He was unlikeable, manipulative, and exhausting.

As for Savannah… there’s not much to say. She was just there.

Did I download a bunch of books on Stuff your e-reader day? Yes. Do I have ARCs to read? Yes. Did “Sweet Surrender” by E.K. Hunter flash across my screen in likely .2 seconds? but was enough for me to say, “now that looks good!” Why yes, yes, it did. And I don’t regret any part of it because Nash is the type of shmalker that checks all the boxes.

You see, Savanah is down on her luck, from her boyfriend taking all her money to her getting into a car accident and not having any money to cover the costs. But the person she hits is Nash, a wealthy casino owner, who she is not aware has been manipulating situations she’s been in. He hopes Sav will be so down that she must rely on him. Things don’t go to plan, though, and Nash ends up having to take extreme measures to make things happen

Savanah’s feelings continuously become confused about Nash. She’s often upset with Nash because, on the one hand, he’s OTT/JP shmalker, but then he shares with her his background or does something sweet and thoughtful.

I enjoyed reading “Sweet Surrender”. I loved Nash. I’m curious about Fox as well,

And I’d love to read more from this author as well.

Meh… the plot and writing was basic, wasn’t a fan of the writing/ or the flow of the book it just didn’t connect to me was forcing myself to finish

Not a fan of the characters fmc was a little whiny for me and the mmc was just cringy- writing was also cringy

I did DNF around 75% due to being bored but continued after reading a different book- still had the same issues it was nothing special unfortunately, have read books like this before which are written better

Sweet surrender is the PERFECT title to this book! Savannah is barely making it by but she’s doing the best she can. But little did she know she was about to lose it all. Her childhood sweetheart had used her in the most unimaginable ways. In comes Nash, he needed a debt repaid and he intended to cash in on that debt. Savannah was used to being on her own and Nash wanted control. She has to make a decision, will she fight Nash, or surrender to him? Ahhh this book is amazing and I expected nothing less from EK Hunter, she is absolutely my favorite 🤩 do yourself a favor and read this and then get ready for Fox’s story!

If you're looking for a good stalker romance, this is it. The things Nash did to get Sav was mind blowing. The chemistry these too had was addictive and so hot. I loved every minute of it.

Sav is living on her own after her ex betrayed her and took everything. She can't get ahead and life kicks her down when she's at her worst. Then she rear ends a very wealthy man, Nash, who wants nothing more than her.

Check trigger warnings!

He's creepy and there's a lot of detail that i usually don't find in books like why are we talking pointedly about her hairy v, or her giving him diarrhea, or her water being shut off and so she had to wash her shampoo at the sink and she was being watched by the creepy neighbor, get flashed, and vow to buy blinds.... like why do i know this things it's like a word filler vomit
Also i find it weird that she thinks something and then he can read her mind
Ugh, 50% in and yeah there's action but not actual sex wtf? U were married for 2 days and haven't slept together wtf?
Also why is this turning into enemies to lover but for the dumbest reason???
Like buy the fucking paper and pen it's not that hard, and her saying my design is important and i need to draw like that the things she need to do (purpose) and she has a power to do something about it and choose not to is so fucking dumb, like be a better writer and learn how to write a human with a brain and not a 1 dimensional character
And the trauma dump word vomit drom the guy like... are u serious?
All that build up and the sex is imidiately over lol i stayed for the smut and it's not even that good

this was fine, but i didn’t love some parts of it. savannah is very stupid about a lot of things in a way that’s very annoying. and there are times when she’s doing the “i know i shouldn’t but i have to” which always gets on my nerves. i always want the fight between them to be more intense, not to be a girl that’s just like “i’ll go back to being mad at him after we fuck, this certainly won’t mean anything.”

i just wanted this to be a little bit more of a push-pull, especially because savannah has a really fun moment where she’s considering all the ways she can make mash hate her before he’ll let her go. she ends up doing one thing and then giving up because she’s already in love with him. i hate that. i want to see it actually be a fight, i want to see her grapple with her emotions, i want her to fight her feelings for him while knowing that her affection for him is inevitable. and the worst is that she’s playing hot and cold with mash while she’s getting unreasonably jealous over other people bash speaks to. i don’t like the jealousy thing that always seems to be like “he spoke to a woman.” never like “he took her home,” or “he kissed her” or anything that would make sense. it’s always “he smiled at someone who isn’t me” or some bullshit, which is just so juvenile and stupid.

I was struggling to figure out how to rate this book and settled on 3.5 but since there is no halfs I rounded up. I loved the beginning of this book, seeing the behind the scenes of how Nash (MMC) was going to get Savannah (FMC) to be his.
The things this man did to get her to have no other options but his was diabolical and I loved every minute of it but I did have some issues, the main thing being him bragging of being with hundreds of women and she couldn't be with one, really two, men? But it was what, men will always have the audacity even in the book world. But with all that being said, don't think Sav just rolled over and surrendered like he wanted her to. She fought back in hilarious and dirty ways. The curry scene had me laughing out loud!
For me the reason I struggled with rating this book is the ending. There was all the build-up and then it came to a crescendo and I was probably as confused, if not more, than Savannah. The math wasn't mathing, I didn't know who to believe and then it just ends. There was more in the epilogue, but I don't know I wanted a little more. All in all it absolutely pissed me off in a way I think was intentional so that's good

I love me a good morally grey mmc and Nash Carson did not disappoint 👏🏽 He did some CRAZYYY sh*t to get Savannah…like wowww. And when he got her, he did everything in his power to keep her!!! Savannah was such a STRONG fmc and held out as long as she could before surrendering to Nash. When she did give in, I got a little Stockholm Syndrome vibe but the way it was written was goodddd!!! ALSO THE ENDING, ughhh…we got their HEA but it ended on a cliffhanger that will go straight into Fox’s story which I am ready for!!!! 😍

Is it love or is it a battle of wills? Actually it turns out to be both. Savannah has given up on love, relationships and men. Her ex did her wrong, she is broke and just trying to get by. She gave up her dreams for the sake of her mom and sees no way to reclaim them. Then Nash appears in her life. Wealthy, arrogant, far too handsome to be ignored and an alpha male to boot. He is demanding, controlling and determined to make Savannah his own. But she is no meek and mild push over. She pushes back, tests his limits and her own, and in no way makes it easy on either of them. She has no idea of the lengths he has gone to bring her this far or what he will do to keep her.

If you like to read about an obsessed, morally grey alpha who is possessive, protective and maddeningly controlling, then this book is for you. I love Savannah’s sassiness, her determination and her strength of will. So does Nash. Their story is absolutely riveting, beyond steamy and rather addictive. I would recommend this book for those who like their romance on the darker and very spicy side.

🚩If I had to choose a book to be a reading red flag, honey I’d choose this one. I’ve read some dark books before, but for some reason, this book just hit some place else

This is the 3rd book I read by @e.k.hunterauthor and if it’s not obvious, I really enjoy her writing style. She gets you hooked from the start

This book was kinda different from the other books I read, but the MMC is still obsessive. I really liked the sequence of events and how feisty Savannah is. I like when girls in books know exactly who they are and voice all their thoughts and feelings and opinions

“If he wanted to, he would” YES MA’AM. I chose to ignore some of Carson’s red flags because .. well because there isn’t one thing he wouldn’t do for his girl and I like men who stand up for what they believe in. Mr. Carson is the OG man

I will say that it felt rushed and a fast burn. I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if the book was more of a slow burn. Also, it made my stomach turn a bit but it didn’t make me uncomfortable

‼️ Make sure you’re aware of all the trigger warnings before you get into it

Lemme tell you something though, E. K. Hunter ate and left no crumbs 👏🏼

minor spoilers

this is one of the few dark romancey books i have thought "wait, hear me out..." about Nash, the MMC. honestly the only thing i did not like that he did was 10000% a personal preference thing (i don't like pregnancy stuff) and did not really impact the story at all because it is mostly in the epilogue. i honestly really love billionaire/ultra rich MMC because the idea of having every basic need taken care of and being allowed to pursue your passion without worrying if you're going to be able to feed yourself next week is such a dream to me. i am so happy we got to see our FMC, Savannah, live her dream and be so happy in the end!! i really liked knowing about the conflict in Savannahs head with what she wanted to do with Nash and her eventually letting her walls down for him!! also i think if Nash was a tiny less possessive (maybe it would work with this level), this could have been an amazing Why Choose with Fox 👀. i know it won't happen but i am looking forward to seeing his story!!

not the ending I’d hope for

I have read many books similar but this main male character set my teeth on edge. There was no charm just ego and narcissism. Spoiler…..I felt like she was the biggest door mat. If she decided to stay with him long term, fine. But I can’t believe she didn’t tell him to step off and giver space when she found out what he did to her behind the scenes. And she wasn’t really happy about being pregnant after he forced her into pregnant messing with her bp. She was livid and then it was like, okay…I won’t read the sequel. I skimmed through this to get to end and waiting for her to leave him at least temporarily to get him to at least think twice or feel any remorse. But it never happened. I’m just stunned that she never grew a backbone. I always wonder in this type of book, what would have happened if he just pursued her and romanced her and she chose to be with him, rather than accepted it after he forced her. I’d rather someone want to be with me.

So good

Savannah down on her luck is all ways the world can spite her is just trying to make it from day to day. When she's had the worse day she could possibly have she's meets Nash.. which starts the domino effect of Nashs grand plan.

The moment Nash saw Savannah- well before she saw him- he was obsessed. With tunnel vision on making her his, sets a trap for his sweet Savannah one where she can't refuse.

This book did not disappoint. The opening paragraph had me hooked. Poor Savannah.. that girl has had it rough. I absolutely loved Nash and his unhinged yet well executed plans. Although their meeting and the events afterwards were questionable I thoroughly enjoyed reading how Savannah fight back she remained having a backbone regardless of everything that happened to her. Gotta appreciate a fighter and that she was. Highly recommend 👌 it's not a dark rom BUT very morally grey so if you don't like dark but like questionable choices this is it for you

3 stars for the story

This one was hard for me to rate. First, I really enjoyed the plot and I thought the idea behind the story was solid. Unfortunately, where the book suffered was in writing from an American perspective and knowledge of American English as well as a lack of editing. The story is based in the US but the author is very clearly not familiar with American English. It was really hard to be submersed in the story when my brain was constantly switching out incorrect terminology. Examples: shops vs. stores, vest top vs. tank top, bank note vs. dollar bill, love heart vs. heart, jumper vs. sweater, "I'd done my washing at the weekend" instead of "I'd done my laundry on the weekend", using "erm" instead of "uh" or "um", etc. I feel like these problems could easily be solved with using beta readers that are familiar with American English that can correct the improper terminology and with a proper editor.

Meet the intriguing characters of Nash Carson and Savannah Miller in Sweet Surrender: Carson-Fox Resorts Book, the first installment of a compelling duet by E.K. Hunter.
At 23, Savannah Miller's life takes a drastic turn. She loses her mother to illness, her savings to theft, and her trust to a long-time boyfriend, Liam Olsen. With no one to turn to, she works as a waitress at Beans and Gone diner, struggling to make ends meet.

Together, they are multi-billionaires and a force to be reckoned with, especially if they see something they want; they pull no punches. Nash spots Savannah and Liam in his casino. Knowing that Liam is in debt to him but curious about the woman Liam is with, Nash does his due diligence and starts the wheels moving in his direction. Now, all he needs is Savannah's surrender.

Nash was a brilliant stalker. He did all the typical stalker things that I expect and love to see with this trope.

Cameras in her apartment ✔️
Watching her sleep ✔️
Stealing her underwear ✔️
Getting the unworthy boyfriend out of the picture ✔️
Drugging and Ladynapping ✔️
Forced marriage ✔️
Manipulating scenarios to get the girl ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

I felt bad for Savannah in the beginning because life sure kicked her down repeatedly, but honestly Nash did her a solid by being obsessed with her.

Nash had one particular punishment for Savannah that I wasn’t on bored with and that was basically a silent treatment/cold shoulder the day after they finally consummated their marriage…. That was mean but I guess he got the outcome he wanted because it drove Savannah bonkers. But not cool my dude.

The spice was great, not much character growth but I wasn’t really expecting any given their relationship. I’m pretty excited to read Fox’s story.
