In 1973 then 28 year old writer Tony Simpson journeyed overseas for the first time. Rather unusually his destination was Stockholm followed by several weeks as a guest of the Russian Cultural Workers? Union. There he found himself at lunch with a member of the then Politburo and a Colonel in the KGB. He also caught the travel bug for which there is no known cure. As he says himself: ?The more I saw of the world the more of it I wanted to see.
