Who Killed Barb Chojnacki ? . . .

Alexandra (“Alex”) is working on a quilt she needs to finish for the Ugly Sweater Quilt display at the Christmas Quilt Show. A knock at the door interrupts her work and has Kibbles barking. A package had been delivered with a vintage sewing kit inside. The thread was brittle, the thimble rusted, and the scissors dull. It sent a chill up her spine for some reason. What was the point of this?

When the show opened, Hawk had arrived home and went down on one knee in front of Alex. Kibbles was very excited, tail wagging. Among friends and family, Hawk pulled out a velvet box with a gorgeous ring, platinum setting with 3 stones and a perfect diamond. And he once more asked Alex to marry him! But as Alex looked up, she saw something was . . . wrong. Her face paled as she looked beyond his shoulder. A creeping sense of unease slithered up her spine. Under a quilt hanging from one of the displays, a pair of feet were sticking out! Hawk lifted the quilt and discovered Barb Chojnacki, who owned Six Gables Designs in Rhode Island, was dead. There was no sign of a struggle or wounds. Then Kibbles sniffed the edge of the woman’s coat, sneezed, and waited for a treat as if he just found something. Hawk said the victim had been “gone for a while”, but Pepper said she was arguing about a quilt design less than an hour ago! Doc walked in and determined she died of strangulation. Odd that she hadn’t put up much of a fight. There was also a shoe print on the back of the victim’s leg. Then the Mayor arrived, closed down the quilt show, and told them no one was to call the cops! They will document this, Doc will file his reports, and it will be over; no publicity. So what is the Mayor up to? And why has Officer Mark Cyrus disappeared out of town at a time like this? Join the search for the killer. This looks like a difficult case full of diversions, people going missing, and all sorts of possibilities. See whether you can figure it all out before Alex does!

It’s time for the 10th annual Christmas quilt show and Alex is finishing her project for the Ugly Sweater Quilt display. Alex is hoping for a smooth show this year but as Hawk goes down on one knee with the perfect diamond ring, Alex sees something amiss over his shoulder. Unfortunately it turns out one of the displays is hiding a dead body behind it and it’s up to Alex to figure out who might have killed her. Meanwhile, the mayor is causing a kerfluffle and looking for any reason to shut the show down, but the question is why?
This is a fun cozy read with a few twists and turns. I love the relationship between Alex and her quilting friends and the romance between Alex and Hawk. The mayor definitely is a shady character and adds an extra layer of mystery to the story. If you enjoy quirky characters, twists and turns, a pet sidekick and some quilting shenanigans, then this is definitely the story for you.

Alex and Hawk were back in Salem for the annual Christmas quilt show only to be faced with a murder at the kickoff dinner event. There were some really funny scenes, and Kibbles usually steals the show with at least one—she didn’t disappoint! Betty’s always got some good one-liners and her “I’m here all weekend” made me giggle.

The showdown could’ve gone even more sideways if Hawk hadn’t been there since the perp was seriously hard to handle, but everyone lived to eventually get back to the island, although not quite for Christmas. The five friends and their camaraderie was all they needed for this time of year. And one friend had some news to share, so now I’m eager to see what happens in the next book.

Alex is back from Madras for the annual quilting show. She is entering her Christmas ugly sweater quilt. Before things can really get going a body is discovered. A dead body. The mayor doesn’t want to call the police. It’s bad for our image. Well, Alex calls them anyways. But she is going to try to solve the mystery herself as well. Will a murderer be found before the end of the quilting show? Yes, if Alex had anything to say about it.
Suspects are as numerous as the questions being asked in this cleverly written book. The convicting evidence isn’t revealed until the end when the murderer is caught.

I love all things Kathryn Mykel, and this does not disappoint; this is a quilting cozy mystery. Alex is helping set up for the 10th Annual Christmas Quilting Show. She is entering her Christmas ugly sweater quilt. The show brings quilters from neighboring states. It seems like something always goes wrong at these quilting shows. The Mayor does not like the shows. Again a dead body is found at the show. The Mayor does not want the police called, it would be bad for the towns image. Their are other twists and turns in the story. Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Kathryn Mykel!!!

A little puny

Odd to me a Christmas story in the spring but still a great mystery. A little heavy on the puns. To each their own I suppose. I definitely recommend reading this series in order as there is background that is alluded to that seems important and is not fully explained. Putting all that aside I enjoyed the puns sort of like dad jokes so bad they’re actually good lol. The mystery what some great twists and a rather extra sad conclusion you’ll have to read to understand why. I like the characters they’re a well balanced group of friends who work well together and of course the cutie dog who is a scene stealer for sure! All in all a quick funny read.

Alex is working hard to get her quilt completed in time for the Ugly Sweater Quilt display at the Christmas Quilt Show. Will the show be a success this year? It is difficult to comprehend all the mayhem created by the quilters. Who knew that quilters could or would behave so abysmally to each other! It is appalling! Before you finish reading, there will be almost as many twists and turns as there are quilt patterns. Will Hawk and Alex find the killer in time? IF you can handle the quilters, you will really enjoy this book—I did.

I enjoyed the story. The Christmas Quilt show draws vendors and quilters. A quilter is murdered at the show. A few clues lead Alex and friends on a trail to discover what really happened. A second story is hinted at, yet not developed. Mysterious text draws Mark away from town. We don’t learn why that happened. The mayor doesn’t want the police involved. What is going on with him? The story references Nona and Spruce Street. I have read a few others in the series so I was able to piece the references together. I would love to know what happens in the next book. Who is Remo?

The annual Quilt Festival is going on and suddenly they find a murder victim right in the middle of the entire show. Alex is in charge of the program and also gets involved in finding out who would kill a fellow quilter. In the investigation they find that there is often stolen quilts, stolen patterns, and just people claiming other people's work. No Idea that quilters could be so bloodthirsty. Enjoyed the characters in this book and the way they interact with each other.
I received an arc and this is my review.

‘There hadn’t been an uneventful event since she arrived home two years ago.’

Alex hadn’t planned on being back on Spruce Lane, but thanks to the devastation on Madra Island that’s exactly where she is in this holiday-centric story. It’s time for the 10th annual Christmas Quilt Show and she’s hoping things go smoother than they did at the9th annual event highlighted in Mutterly Mistaken. It’s the holiday season, wishes do come true, right? Wrong. Another dead body, some cryptic text threats and some exciting news for the residents of Spruce Lane. So much fun!

This is the seventh book in the series and I have to say, it's just as good if not better than the first one. I really enjoy this series as it always has different things going on, not the same old stuff. I love that Alex is entering her Christmas ugly sweater quilt in the show - how awesome would this quilt be!!!! Of course, there's a murder and Alex is in the middle of that, with some weird things going on around her. I really enjoyed this book, however, I'd like to see it go through proofreading again as there were a few issues I noticed.

Quilting challenges!

Another great book in a quilting cozy mystery series by Kathryn Mykel. Challenges arise at the quilting show with a death that the mayor doesn't want investigated. Alex pursues the death as a murder and gets entangled in dangerous situations as she investigates. A cute, enjoyable book.

I read this book as part of an advance reader team. I am voluntarily providing this review.

This is the 7th book in the series, it can be read as a standalone, however its better if you read the books in order. It's the 10th annual Christmas quilt show, and a quilter is found dead beneath a quilt hanging from a one of the displays. Alex and her friends work to solve, why and who would kill her.
It keeps you guessing until the very end, if you are a quilter or sewer or other crafter you will enjoy the story.

Great story

The quilt show is starting again and while everyone is hoping for a quiet show, you know that doesn't happen this year. Alex and company are starting the show and Pepper is in charge with Betty's help. Of course it doesn't go smoothly with a murder and a bunch of accusations of theft of designs. Alex and Hawk solve the murder along with everything else. Kathryn does a great job with this series. I highly recommend.

A Christmas Quilt Fair brings up old grudges. Alex, her dog Kibbles, Charlotte, Pepper, Joey and Hawk work together to solve the mystery. I love the family that these friends have created. This is a well paced mystery with some cliff hanging moments.

Alex is hoping for a smooth event at the 10th annual Christmas Quilt Show. Of course, that is not the case in this entertaining cozy. The Mayor has his own agenda as Alex searches for clues. Her cute dog adds levity to the overall story. An enjoyable mystery that can be read as a standalone.

This was my first book by the author. The book was slow going for me. I liked the characters but the plot was slow. I would recommend this book to reader who like quilting. Over all I enjoyed the storyline. This is my expressed opinion and no one else’s.

This series just keeps getting better!

Always excitement at the annual Christmas quilt event but then murder jumps in! You might not think people would murder over a quilt, but you’d be so wrong!!
