We all had a big surprise when Henry, our class hamster, had four babies. Alfie Tate was adopted when he was little so he became the hamster monitor because Henry was finding it difficult to care for them. Find out how we all helped Alfie to find new homes for the baby hamsters and what happened to the smallest, Alfonzo.
Hilary Robinson, the woman who rocks the twisted fairy tales here does Help a Hamster, subtitled: A Gentle Introduction to Adoption....and it's for a good reason it's gentle since adoption, for humans or animals is a very tender subject for most people. An adopted boy in school wants to adopt a hamster, since he knows first hand what being adopted is like. It's a very sweet story but you have to remember Hilary does this with her heart in the right place, her research into adoption issues much less so. Not all kids are adopted by good parents, so how Dave Thomas, late founder of the Wendy's restaurant and an adopted kid himself, got away with escaping the cruelty of other Foster homes, I dunno, only that in my own experience real life is not as picture perfect as some would want it.... somebody like, say, me. But I still believe in love, and in loving families, and that a cuddly hamster can help heal broken hearts. Not altogether, but it's a good start. Four stars Hamsters are cool, even when adopted!
We adopted a baby and this book shows kids young or older not all children are looked after by their birth parents sometimes they are adopted. We loved adopting. On the back it has lots more books about children who have a hard life or struggle with their life and have issues and sometimes that happened it's ok to go through that well I feel everyone should know that it's ok to sometimes go through hard times and there are people who are less fortunate than us!
