The tragedy is that the manifestos are really so much better than the plays

(Admittedly the plays get better if you force yourself to reread them)

What is most fascinating about Richard Foreman is his vision, as best understood in his manifesto. By nature, his manifesto could not/should not/would not be linear. Once one embraces this fact, The Ontological-Hysteric Manifesto can become a treasure. One simple lesson I gleaned: no artistic vision could ever be fully explained in well-structured paragraphs.
