Why does it feel like the kings and Aran all got a personality transplant in the last few chapters to fill up all the plot holes and fix the obvious issues in their relationship? Why did the “war” against an entire planet of monsters consist of only 4 battles? Why did every extra aside from the main characters die? Why was everyone going to school parties while the world was supposedly ending and having public sex? Are we never going to address Aran’s obvious raging substance abuse problem? Are we going to ignore her being a hardcore addict? Why did a smoke bird that was mentioned 3 times in the book randomly turn into a phoenix? Why do the kings suddenly feel this major attraction for the twins considering they already knew them for years? This entire book felt like a crack fic. I’m still hoping this is some kind of joke and waiting for the punchline because what is this?

My VERY LEAST FAVORITE Book in the series!!

Let me start off by saying Jasmine Mas’s “Cruel Shifterverse” Series is by far one of the most wonderful series I’ve read in a very very long time, that being said…I was REALLY DISAPPOINTED in “Psycho Gods,” Aran’s story part 3. Sadie and Aran/Arabella are by far some of my favorite fictional RH females!!

**SPOILERS** you cannot read this book as a standalone! You must read the entire series for it to make sense.

Psycho Gods begins where the last book left off. The Shifters, Angels, and Devils are headed into a war that has the potential to wipe out existence!! The only thing standing in the way of total annihilation? — Sadie and her men, and Aran and her “men.” The story had complex themes, brought back a lot of earlier important characters and subplots, and was intriguing, action packed, and interesting…most of the time.

There were several things wrong with this book for me, several reasons why this was BY FAR THE LEAST OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS IN ARAN’s series. 1. The Devils - Ignis, Corvus, and protectors Orion and Scorpius are truly heinous characters. Now…I kinda got it in book one, even in book two. But this was book three THE END and most of their behaviors are completely stupid, mean and downright mocking and hurtful - STILL!! The book spends SOOOOO MUCH TIME STILL HAVING Corvus, Scorpius and Orion treat Aran like trash (not Orion, but he’s still loyal TO - and too much so - to Corvus and Scorpius) making Aran feel like a “prize” or tool to be used, instead of a woman with a tortured, complicated history and life…one she wants to disappear from. I absolutely wanted the guys to grovel and grovel and then grovel some more. Aran handles herself pretty well (I love her as well as Sadie’s character! I loved Sadie’s series and was so so so happy she was in Arans book too. I really thought Aran’s personality matches Corvus’s “cruelty” in a way, and his sarcasm, and shows the Devils just what they’re missing.. She’s witty, sarcastic, funny, and when she she’s meticulous, and runs things through her Swiss cheese like memory, she’s brilliant!! Here’s the big problem, the Devils spent way too much of the book acting THE SAME AS ALWAYS - just now they want Aran to “get over the past” and be okay with her being their revered, just like that!!!??? Huh!!!! I. Don’t. Think. So!!! I don’t blame Aran/arabella at all for how she treats the Devils! And hate hate Corvus’s attitude and behavior, and how Scorpius does NOTHING, SAYS NOTHING. WITHOUT SNEERING AT HER!!! I mean one moment he’s telling himself how she’s everything to him, the next he’s saying something awful and sneering at her!! Even when they grovel they don’t REALLY GROVEL because they just DO NOT UNDERSTAND!!!! They have no idea!

I feel as if the relationship between the three devils was built up MUCH TOO MUCH BEFORE BRINGING ARAN into it. In Sadie’s series, Jax was in a relationship etc, BUT Mas made it clear that he was interested both sexually and emotionally to Sadie! In Aran’s story we get nearly three books where Aran is treated like DIRT by the devils, then men who are supposed to be her mates. The men who just expect the revelation that she’s their revered to mean she’ll just JUMP INTO BED WITH THEM complete the bond and then they (the 3 of them can go off happily) at least that’s what it feels like reading it. Aran has John and Lucas and they treat her the way she’s supposed to be treated, while the devils, her “mates” are always holding each others shoulders, together, all over each other, WHILE telling her that they need her as their revered! Well no wonder she doesn’t believe them! She sees the three of them TOGETHER SO VERY TOGETHER and KNOWS the only reason they want her is because the three of them want to have complete sex. Anyway, there wasn’t nearly enough time spent DEVELOPING the relationship between Aran and The Devils, ESPECIALLY, Corvus!! Corvus had too many tantrums snd “anger issues” that Orion and Scorpius had to take care of to spend any TRUE time building a meaningful connection with Aran!!!! And Scorpius and Orion spent too much time either placating Corvus, sneering and acting like jilted lovers, or following Corvus and pretend to moon after Aran behind her back…if they were really mooning after her, the author did not not accurately back up their actions!!

Then we have the strange HEA where ALL OF THEM ARE TOGETHER! Okay, I get that the Devils aren’t going anywhere, neither are the twins, princes of hell, but to suddenly make the twins BOTH OF THEM, go from 200% all Aran, Aran is my world, etc, to being attracted to, having sex with, and each twin ending up with Aran and one of the Devils was weird, came out of nowhere, was seriously too convenient (as in the author had to try to find a way for all of them to be together, and this was her answer). They all could have been together WITHOUT the twins being The Devils Mates. I mean, honestly it kinda makes no sense since Mas spent all this time building up the fact that the devils just needed Aran to complete them- they’re revered. And that Aran, John and Lucas were a threesome, because Lucas and John were like inseparable! She could’ve ended the book with Arabella being with BOTH groups. The whole Twins being mates was too convenient and came out of nowhere!!! I felt like I’d read too much about the Ignis, two protectors and the revered…so I’m just supposed to easily accept that the princes of hell are ALSO mates?? Again, there was NO BUILDUP to this!!!!

Then there was the actual war. We hear so much about the Gods, but know next to nothing about them. The secondary characters like Dick, Lothaire, even Jinx, do not get enough page time, because by the end of the book you still have a million questions left about their existence, creation, roles, etc…it was just like we got this cut and paste ending where Aran is still F’ed in the head, but hey, she has all her mates, so that’s fine…oh and we can’t forget more power than any being in the universe (that not really explained or explored well enough either). We get a cool explanation about how Sadie and Arabella have half of each others souls, I thought that point made sense (they have a great connection) but then it isn’t furthered explored, never talked about (seriously?!) and just goes on and on about how Aran DOESN’T have a soul, *eye roll.*

So yes, for a conclusion I felt this book was sorely lacking! And I wanted so much to be able to forgive, and maybe even like The Devils a little bit, but I couldn’t. Corvus was awful and way to prideful and arrogant throughout the series, Scorpius was a sarcastic, sneering a-hole, and Orion (yeah yeah for ever they thought he was their revered because he was “softer”) he just comes off as having NO SPINE, a coward who can’t stand up to the guys he loves for the woman he claims to love. His actions show he’s MUCH MORE invested in Corvus and Scorpius. And then the twins were just disappointing in this novel, yes, they took care of Aran, but in between they were flirting with her “enemies,” *eye roll* (gag). Yes, I was really annoyed with almost every character in this book except for Aran, Sadie and her guys (that you don’t see enough). Frankly, Mas only began to “soften” the devils toward THE VERY END OF THE BOOK there wasn’t nearly enough time for Aran to forgive them, let alone feel comfortable bonding with them forever!!!!

I think another book should’ve been planned, or this one, re-written with A LOT OF CHANGES MADE!

Second read: I still think the plot could have been better developed at times, and that the relationship development felt a little too convenient near the end, but this series remains a guilty pleasure of mine. It is entertaining, funny, and perfect to get your mind off things.
_______________________

I liked this book, and I love Aran, but at the same time, it felt chaotic and not always in a good way.

Wars started messy and depraved.
They ended the same way.

Psycho Gods picks up right where Psycho Devils left off. After the Legionnaire Games, the Shifters and Academy legions are now the generals in the upcoming war. They need to wipe out the ungodly before they spread out in the universe and potentially wipe out all other civilizations.

The war plotline was promising when presented at the end of Psycho Devils, but it was not that developed in this book. The war consisted of 5 battles on an isolated planet, and while it was hinted that the leaders knew more about what was happening, and were even keeping things from their army, it was never made clear what exactly they were trying to hide and why. There is a lot of mystery remaining, and I hope we will finally know more about it if Jinx gets her book eventually. The revelations about her identity and powers were really interesting, and I want to know more about her too.

They couldn’t handle me— few could. I had the body of a large bird, mind of a lunatic, and personality of a divorced middle-aged woman with a shopping addiction.
I was perfect.

I am still in love with Aran, her sass, and her dark sense of humor. She is dry and sarcastic, but it’s still just a front to hide all her pain, physical and mental. She is such a strong and resilient character, and I loved her growth in this series. I also like that she got her happy ending, and healed most of her trauma since she doesn’t need to be high all the time anymore. She is an amazing female main character and her strength is truly inspiring.

Sadie sobbed harder and whispered, “I have a confession— once in the beast realm, I enslaved Aran with my blood when she was asleep, and I made her get me food from the kitchen because I was so sore from training, and she doesn’t remember it.”
I rolled my eyes and replied, “Once I found a kitten and gave it to Sadie as a gift, and it kidnapped her.”

Aran and Sadie together are the best. I missed their crazy dynamics from the first books of this series, and I was so happy to see them together again in this book. They are pure gold. Sadie’s weird ideas and chaotic energy, mixed with Aran’s sarcasm were a delight to read, and it made me want to reread Sadie’s trilogy… again… I might do that soon… Seriously, their moments together were probably my favorite scenes in this book. I would read a whole book just about their crazy everyday life together, they never fail to make me laugh.

She exhaled. “You’re the worst grovelers in the history of grovelers.”
“We’re trying,” Scorpius said softly, “but we know.”
“I’d hate to see what not trying looked like.” She chuckled. “You’d probably just bash me over the head with a shovel.”

I wanted the three Kings to grovel because they needed to do some intense groveling for Aran to even consider the possibility of one day maybe forgiving them. That being said, they suck so bad at groveling. They are, by far, the worst grovelers ever, and while it was funny to see how much they sucked at it, it also meant that they continued to be part-time jerks to Aran. They did try hard to be better and nicer to her, and they managed to change for her, but they still were assholes at times, and a few nice gestures do not mean that it is okay to be jerks in between said nice gestures.

Malum screamed, “I’m not having a meltdown!”
Convincing.
Vegar resumed snoring.
“Okay, Mitch,” I mumbled.
“What?” Zenith asked.
“Male bitch.”
“Oh,” Zenith said, “makes sense.”
The leader of the kings let out a war cry.
“Save it for the battlefield, Mitch.” I pulled the blanket over my head with my free arm and tried to suffocate myself to sleep.

Corvus’ temper tantrums were funny, and I loved how Aran tried to piss him off on purpose, but at the same time, he spent ¾ of the book spewing fire and being angry, to the point where Scorpius and Orion had to intervene many times, and the relationship building between Aran and him suffered because of that. They spend more time together near the end of the book, and they have some significant, cute, and peaceful moments, but it still feels like a sudden change, considering that Corvus spent the 2 previous books and most of this one being an angry, raging ball of fire. Still, the way Aran kept pissing him off made me smile every time.

The fact that the twins, especially Lukas who was so obsessed with his twin and Aran, suddenly also developed a relationship with two of the Kings felt too convenient. I get that the Kings were not going anywhere, and neither were the twins, but they didn’t need to suddenly feel attraction towards each other, especially since they’d known each other for years and never felt a thing before. Overall, I feel that a few characters had a personality transplant in the last few chapters of the book, and while I don’t dislike their new personality, it was sudden and a little jarring.

There is not much smut in this book, and the few scenes happen in the last part of the book mostly, but there is sexual tension. If I compare it to Sadie’s series though, Aran’s trilogy was milder when it comes to smut, but it makes sense considering Aran’s enchanted wound.

Some plot holes seemed to have been quickly filled in the last few chapters, and some aspects of the romance and plot could have been more developed. That being said, this series (and I’m counting Sadie’s trilogy here) is still one of my favorites, and even if it’s not perfect, it’s just so entertaining! I saw someone comparing this to trashy TV shows that you can’t stop watching, and it is accurate. It’s silly at times, intense, and not always fully logical, but it’s engaging and addictive, and Sadie and Aran are two of my favorite female MCs.

"There was nothing left to be said because words couldn't fix our mistakes. Only we could."

War.
It's time.
No escape.
Its kill or be killed.
No matter what.

"We were fragile, jagged edges and broken promises. For people brimming with power and strength, we all shared one thing in common: we were terrifyingly flawed."

And with that Aran's story comes to an end.
This is legit so bittersweet.
I remember picking up "psycho shifters" one day and reading the first 3 books in 24 hours because I completely fell in love. And then came Aran's story and somehow I fell deeper and deeper.
I know this series is continuing with Jinx's story (Yay!!) don't know when but excited for that too!! But Aran and Sadie feels like the end of an era so yes, you guessed it, of course I cried! I'm only human (maybe… jury's still out honestly).

"A broken bone would heal and bruised skin would recover because the violence of a blow was temporary. It was mental pain that crushed you relentlessly into smithereens. You didn't heal overnight. Mental pain lingered."

"You could let the dark times rip everything away from you, or you could survive them and build something brighter."

Let's start with Aran. Because how can we not? I mean the amount of iconic lines in this book alone is everything. I would read a full book with Aran's self-deprecating humor and her comebacks because each one is a gem:

"Nothing upset me more than seeing a male filled with confidence."

"Men should be seen, not heard. Remember that.”

”I would have joined him, but I didn’t laugh with men. I only laughed at them.”

Aran's journey was heartbreaking from the very beginning. Seeing her relationship with the devil's in the first book almost broke me because it was proper bully and it was so hard. I legit screamed at the book at times (which is not surprising considering it's me but still).
I lover her. Legit I want her to be my spirit animal, my tutor, my sponsor, my murderer I will take anything.
She is *iconic* and she is the moment 💅✨

"There was nothing more satisfying than a grown man crying."

Regarding the princes, John and Luka. Even though they did not have a lot of POVs in this book. They always stood by Aran. And honestly you kind of need that to get through this series not gonna lie. Even the small things, circling her back and twirling her hair you could see the impact and affect that it had and it was everything!! And that plot twist! I am really hoping it somehow connects to Jasmine Mas' upcoming book because that would be EVERYTHING. They sacrificed for Aran and did not say a word. They would do it happily and honestly that was all she needed. They loved her unconditionally and stuck by her and gosh darn it if that didn't just make my heart melt.

"Our souls were bound together. Her pain was my pain."

"I didn't exist until you came into my life; there was no purpose or meaning to the monotony. Now I burn with life because I live for you. Every breath I take is yours. You are the totality of my essence. I survive by your mercy."

Now, the Kings. Mixed feelings for them from the very beginning. Let me get this out of the way: complete and utter assholes and idiots, I am not saying they are not, but THANK FUCKING GOD THEY FINALLY GOT IT!! I am telling you when they understood I was like HALLELULJAH THERE IS A CHANCE!
Scorpion I honestly loved. Him talking about being considered weak while being one of the most powerful beings in their realm made me cry. Orion being the rock for everyone was adorable. And I am not lying when I tell you it took me the longest to warm up to Corvus but who am I kidding, you kill for Aran and you're all squared in my book.

"She was so frustrating that I wanted to strangle her, she was also so beautiful that I wanted to burn the world for daring to hurt her, myself included."

"I will do everything I can to keep you safe, Arabella, even if you hate me for it."

"For Arabella, I would do anything. I was her monster."

REVIEW: you know those trashy tv shows you can’t help but watch? this is that. 6 books in and I couldn’t tell you a thing about this world, but hey, for the most part I had a good time.
Also this was about ~400 pages too long (seriously 700 pages is just way too much for this I’m sorry)

this is just cruel that this isn’t out yet

I hate to say it, but this was arguably so bad. I am not here for Pulitzer Prize winning writing - at the end of the day, I just want to be entertained. And while this book was entertaining, it was such a disappointing resolution. What semblance of plot it had was horrificly illogical and the characters jumped all over the place.

Will I read the next book? Yes.

Will I probably at some point in time re read the first book in Aran’s series (again) and the entirety of Sadie’s series? Yes.

Sometimes you need to consume a “trashy” book like you would a “trashy” reality tv show. These books do that for me. So when you see my higher ratings of the other books, know I greatly enjoyed them for the entertainment they were but this one lacked almost of that previous fun.

Book 3 and the kings still doesn't love Aran the way they love Orion. And the twins who just married Aran are now catching feelings for the kings. What a joke, Aran being exactly nobody's priority. Girl f*cking dump these men, they can have each other. You deserve to be prioritized and cherished.

The character growth in the ending is legit so weird? It made no sense. Did they all get a personality transplant or something? It felt like the author just fed us some stuff to make up for their clearly toxic and underdeveloped relationship. Why was the war literally 4 fights? The way everyone died EXCEPT for the main characters was really funny.

I also didn’t really enjoy the groveling. Don’t get me wrong, it was amazing groveling. But I feel as if they still didn’t truly understand. And then she forgave them, which wasn’t unexpected, but it came from nowhere. Because a few chapters earlier, she had felt something entirely different. I feel like there was a lot of her feelings and thoughts about them and the relationship that wasn’t addressed properly.

Also, the attraction for the twins was really random.

I love Aran, though.

⋆˚࿔ psycho gods review 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

┆ ⤿ 💌 1.5 stars!

This was without a doubt the worst book in the series I read. It's the novel equivalent to ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ - a serious plotline that can't take itself seriously. We go into the book believing this is going to be the climax, this is the book revolving around THE WAR that has plagued their entire realm. But instead we get a couple battles and in between those battles.... we get parties and mall shopping? This book truly just didn't make sense, every time there seemed to be a serious emotional moment it was instantly ruined by a cringy non well placed joke.

We left the last book with a clear line drawn between the kings and the twin princes yet they're all suddenly attracted to each other AND Aran (mind you they've known eachother for years before Aran???? so now that she's in the picture they decide they're suddenly attracted to eachother and no longer hate one another???) I feel like Aran never had to make a single tough decision the entire book, she doesn't need to pick between her mates and her husbands because they're suddenly attracted to eachother. Everybody except all her friends die in the war (what a pleasant coincidence), there's no consequences for her clear drug abuse problem, everything is fixed for her by the end. I like a good why choose as much as the next person but it has to feel organic and make sense. ANYWAYS... definitely a disappointing end to the series.

⚠️ trigger warnings: excessive swearing, extreme violence, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, mention of past sexual assault, bullying, sexism, voyeurism, dubious consent

I’ve really enjoyed this entire series.
Specifically in this book though, the exchanges between Aran, the Kings and the Twins in the truth journals had me absolutely rolling. I just found the whole thing so funny.
However, on the topic of the Kings, although the grovelling was admittedly top tier, I don’t know if I can forgive them. I know Aran does/did, but apparently I can hold a grudge, who knew?
It was really good to get some answers about some of the things that had been happening to Aran as well. Things made a lot more sense once certain things came to light which made the whole thing more enjoyable.
I’d be more than happy for this series to continue.
Is it going to continue?
I haven’t seen anything about another book.
Time for me go and do some research I think…

I ate this book up. It’s trash, but in the very best of ways 🤣

I can’t say that I’ve forgiven the Kings, but Arun has. I adore Arun and Sadie together!

I enjoyed the entire 3 book series and hope to see 3 more in the future.

I have said this once and I will say it again: MATES ARE MEANT TO ONLY LOVE THEIR OTHER MATE(S), NOT OTHER RANDOM PEOPLE!!!!!!!! All the kings (and honestly even Aran) should not be attracted and lusting after the twins if they were truly mates! I was so mad once I learned that they were all going to be a couple. It makes me so mad bc first of all I don’t even like the twins I think they are sketch and secondly I wanted her to love the kings and forgive them. I honestly felt like the kings and the twins didn’t even love Aran like she should be loved and I’m literally just so mad that there wasn’t a huge breakthrough with the relationship between Aran and the twins. It makes me so mad that all of a sudden Scorpius and Orion are finding the twins attractive when in the first two books they couldn’t stand the twins or even look at another person outside of their mates with lust. Also THERE WAS LIKE 0 AMUT SCENES????? Omg this annoyed me bc the rest of her books were smutty so I expected it, but nope. Absolutely nothing. And when there was something kinda sexy going on it was with the twins so I immediately skipped bc I DONT LIKE THEM!! I’m just so mad about this whole situation I could talk for hours about it.
This book was honestly ok but I could barely get through it once I learned that everyone was going to be in a relationship. I honestly think this could have been a lot shorter and honestly if you think about it nothing really happened… like yea there were battles and some stuff was revealed but it honestly wasn’t that big and the battles were like the same thing written over and over again. Also how did Horse go from being a raven to a Phoenix??? When that was revealed I literally almost crapped myself bc where did that even come from. Also ok I think it’s great that Arabella is super strong and everything with her powers, but she’s the revered??? She’s not supposed to be stronger than the ignis yet she is??? How is that even possible? Idk that whole thing also made me mad bc like I love that she is super powerful, but it just doesn’t make sense when putting into perspective her role. Honestly this book just felt so different from the rest and it makes me so sad.

The ending wasn’t bad for Aran’s story, but it’s still confusing since technically everything isn’t resolved yet. I wonder if Jinx will have her own book.

Anyway, I liked the ending chapters, but I will say this book could’ve been way shorter that it actually was. I found the dialogue to be funny and interesting but I think the author over did it in this book. There were many times where I wished they all just stfu and listened instead of babbling random sh*t. Especially when it was between Sadie and Aran, like please get to the point, stop wasting my time with unnecessary conversation. It got so annoying towards the end. It felt like 60% of this book was random dialogue.

I still think that these men are too sexist. Like the author didn’t need to make it this bad. Like almost all of them are for the entirely of these 6 books (yeah I didn’t forget about Sadie’s lil psychos). It was so unnecessary and still makes a lot of them unbearable even though they “technically” were forgiven but “HOLES”?!!?? WTF?!!?? crazy.

I’m so disappointed with the ending!! Everything felt so rushed. Many open ended questions were not answered like with the whole ungodly situation/ why is there a war against them?? Could they possibly find a way to cure the infected? They were just killing people mindlessly without even questioning anything. Also, why did the brush over the twins story origin???? Anyways I’m going to end this here otherwise I’m just going to keep finding more things to be disappointed about again. What I will say though If I was placed in that academy specifically the assassin league I wouldn’t have survived. They stuff went through was brutal.

I loved every other book in this series but this one was not it for me. I read this series for the romance and the smut, I’m going to be totally honest. This book did NOT deliver on that. It was literally entirely about the war that made no sense and they never even addressed Aran’s addictions or depression in a meaningful way. It felt EXTREMELY rushed at the end and was super weird and out of character in comparison to the last 2 books in Aran’s series. Will I read other books by this author?….yes absolutely.

Honestly one word to describe it is boring. Besides like 1 fight literally nothing interesting really happens across 500 pages like what!!

My least favorite out of the entire series. Aran’s character development was extremely slow and preventing the story from evolving. The ending was incredibly quick paced which ruined the story

I got an ARC but just now writing a review hahah.

OK SO I ABSOLUTELY LOVED ARAN FROM DAY ONE, LOVED HER. I love the fact that, in the end, it said she didn’t need her pipe anymore omg, it just shows her healing, development, and the overall impact of having felt loved. I will say I wanted more groveling but I was somewhat satisfied when Malum CRAWLED to her and the fact he got her name spelled out on his toes. IT HAD ME DYING FROM LAUGHTER. I loved to see the men’s POV. And what Corvus said at their wedding touched me, or maybe I’m just a sucker for words of affirmation... I LOVED ARAN’S POWER, I FEEL SO PROUD OF HER.

As much as I waited for this for so long, it wasn't really up to my expectations. The groveling was so little, they pined for Orion for like a decade but then casually just switched all that with another? There are so many plot holes, Aran just wasn’t that out of it unlike before, It felt so rushed. The Luka, Orion, John, and Scorpius situation seems so forced and out of the blue. They’ve known each other for YEARS and all of a sudden, because of one girl, they just randomly get all mushy? Their personalities were close but so vastly different too. I mean, considering she only had a few months, I didn’t really set that much of a high bar but I just expected more, especially with the fact it had 700+ pages. It was entertaining and honestly? I’m just here for Aran and her happiness at this point. Overall, I still enjoyed it but it greatly disappointed me too. I am looking forward to Jinx’s story and unveiling more about her and her story.

i read all six books in the span of exactly a month; i pulled multiple all nighters in order to finish some of the books and it was soso worth it. it’s been a while since i’ve enjoyed reading like this. sadie and aran were both mentally ill and so unhinged that it made the books 10x better. i actually can’t believe i’m done with this series and i’m really upset about it because im gonna miss all of the characters so much🥲
