In early 1942, some 82 Allied ships carrying vital war materials to England were sunk by German U-boats along the North Carolina coastline known as "The Outer Banks. This story focuses on one particular German U-boat and the interaction of some of its crew and a country sheriff's deputy from Dare County along the Outer Banks.
