I was very kindly sent an ARC of this to read by the author @sabinagreenwrites
This is Sabina's third novel, and her stories continue to be incredibly enjoyable and captivating!

We are introduced to Hedwig, who has just lost her dad, a particularly painful loss given her mum disappeared when she was 11. Hedwig is completely shattered and isn't entirely sure how she will ever get over this loss or how she will navigate life now when something completely unbelievable happens, she times travels.
20 years into the past, 20 years into her parents past...she grew up on stories of her mum and her closest friends, including the friend Hedwig was named after and now she has a chance to witness these events, to see her mum again and to spend precious time with her!

This was an incredibly enjoyable read with such a unique spin on time travel. I really enjoyed Hedwig as a character and loved seeing how she brought everyone together while trying to figure out exactly what was going to happen to her! Certain plot points were fairly obvious from early on, but it didn't make the story any less enjoyable, instead it was fun to watch things unfolding and see how the little plot points neatly fit together and to see the bigger picture becoming complete!

I loved the representation of characters with disabilities and how, with the support of each other, they overcame their own fears and learned to own who they were!

Sabina has an incredibly engaging way of writing that draws you in completely and utterly to her characters and their lives!
Would highly recommend this unique and enjoyable read!

First, I need to thank Sabina for creating this beautiful read.

"One Two Sheep" is not a book that I would normally read, but the blurb really intrigued me to step out of my comfort zone and read it. And I'm glad I took that chance because this was my top unexpected read of 2024.

Sabina's way of telling Hedwig's story had me in tears. This girl has been through so much loss, and has a hard time navigating that grief, especially with her mom's disappearance. I particularly loved the time travel aspect of her story. Sabina included it in a very unique way that really had me in awe. This was a book that you really don't know what you're getting yourself into. The title was different, the blurb gave a snippet to the storyline, the cover had me highly confused at first, but the mysteriousness to this book made it so much more captivating and gave this storyline no justice. Page after page, I felt like I was falling deeper into Hedwig's life and story, with so many more layers than what meets the eye. We deal with grief, time traveling to the past to learn more of other's stories, you see the beautiful beginnings of friendships, grasp the sense of family, be drawn into the mystery aspect of the book and above all, get left with a stronger sense of one's self. Hedwig's character was someone I really resonated with and loved from the first page. Her character was admirable and I loved that she had such a beautiful friendship to grow with. Sabina did an AMAZING job with this majestic book. I'm so grateful that I took a chance on it and can't wait to read more of her books in the future.

P.S I Swear I hope Hedwig's name came from Harry Potter's owl because if it did, I might LOVE you a million times more!!!! #JusticeForHedwig

Green’s book opens with one protagonist, Hedwig, in early adulthood. She feels isolated. Her father died shortly before, and her mother disappeared eleven years earlier. Adding to her misery, Hedwig experiences agonizing migraines that she soothes by lying in the shallow waters of the ocean near her family home.

One day when she does this, she wakes up in another time. Someone has found her unconscious near the sea and brought her to a hospital. She recognizes the hospital as the one she is familiar with in her hometown, but the people she knows there are much younger than when she knew them before. Fearing being considered mentally ill if she tells the truth about her time travel, Hedwig pretends amnesia.

The truth is that she grew up in this same town, so that now at age twenty, while she has not changed places, she finds herself in a period of time parallel to her parents’ younger years. Can this be real? Will she meet her parents, both who have passed away and she is still grieving over? Will anyone recognize her and blow her cover story and cause some catastrophe? And why is her mother going out with a man who is not her father? How does she come out of this situation better equipped to live and enjoy her world?

One Sheep Two Sheep is a story that plays with time as a means of showing connections between two generations and opening dialogue between them. Some of us who miss their parents or other relatives might wish we could have an opportunity like Hedwig does.

Green writes the story artfully, surprising us at every turn with characters and events and keeps us eagerly reading to see what happens next.

I found myself relating to and empathizing with Hedwig and Daphne as I’ve frequented hospitals with zero explanation for my condition up until very recently; I have been frequenting them since I was 15, and was actually in the hospital as I read the book, so, relating was VERY EASY! Also, I lost myself in the story and found it quite cathartic as I also lost my grandfather 3years ago to Liver Cancer very suddenly and my grandmother has always suffered from debilitating migraines.

Funnily enough it was page 15 I found myself completely falling in-love with Joy, Bianca and their relationship with young Hedwig. I plan on moving to Australia due to my seasonal depression and mental health, so when she said “I need…a change of scenery” I was hooked!
I literally didn’t put this book down unless I had to, I found myself so invested and enveloped with the characters, I just wanted to know how it ended! The story comes through in an easy to read and understand sort of way while maintaining a strict level of persise detail, so it’s only was it relatable, but it was also quite cathartic and fun to read while experiencing as a mental movie. Sabina has done an amazing job portraying her fun original ideas and mixing them with just enough of our reality as we know it that she’s created a completely new, fun, out of this world experience and framed time travel in an original way. Beautiful representation and dynamics within the friend group. This piece was definitely written from the heart and is on my “goof reads” list.

10/10 have already & will recommended :)

Hedwig is an only child who thought she was named after her Mothers Best Friend that goes missing mere months after meeting her. The protagonist’s mother also goes missing when she’s at the age of 11 and her father passes away on her 21st Birthday. Her Birthday wish that night was to be able to spend time with her Mom.
- For somene who lost her mom at a very young age (2 yrs) and my father in my early 20s; I completely related to Hedwig and hit a spot in my soul I haven’t really got in touch with in a while and this book just hits you in the feels -
Both Hedwig and her mom suffer from debilitating migraines and both sought relief at the beach, in the water. Hedwig had a crippling migraine while at the beach one day and wakes up in the hospital 10 years in the past and meets her mom as someone who has been found on the beach with ‘amnesia’.
The Story unfolds with Hedwig meets her mom, befriending her, then meets and introduces two other women into their friend group that the town refers to them as the “Fabulous Four”. They all meet at a pivotal time in their lives where they truly needed the support from each other.
Without giving any spoilers this book is what anyone who has lost a loved one would give to be able to spend time with them. An amazing read that I could only hope would get a 2nd book or a novella because you fall in love with these characters and just want to know more.
Kudos to Sabina - an amazing storyteller - will definitely be getting her other books to read

The enigmatic title to this book, alone, made me want to pick it up. I'm glad I did! Sabina Green has again crafted a book that takes us to places that excite our imaginations and sets us puzzles which we, the readers, are invited to solve. What happens to Hedwig and those around her is both surreal and heart warming. There are layers to this story- mystery, romance, friendship, family, kinship and surreality - which compel the reader to turn the next page. When you have finished the final page you are left with a sense that you have been on an extraordinary journey which your own imagination invites you to continue. Sabina Green has a talent for giving us interesting characters who do surprising things, with strong, believable dialogue. But more than that, she writes narratives which take you to places you don't expect to go. This is a time travel story, but not like any time travel you have ever read. One Two Sheep is a thought provoking and rewarding book. Highly recommended.

What would you do if you woke up many years in the past?🧐

Sabina has such a talent for writing in a way that really pulls you into the pages. From page one, I was hooked and quickly became invested in Hedwig’s life and subsequent journeys. The characters were so unique and memorable, it left me with a sadness in the end that was as if I was saying goodbye to friends I had made. 🥲

I love that Sabina doesn’t add a bunch of unnecessary fluff and filling to her beautiful books. She gets straight to the point in just the right words, making this a quick but very exciting read! I loved it from start to finish, and only wish there were more adventures to read about Hedwig, Daphne, and crew!

Thank you Sabina for the beautiful gift of your writing, you’re one of my auto-buy authors, and I cannot wait to read the next of yours! 💖

One Two Sheep is an awesome ride through time with a badass group of girlfriends. I got hooked on the time-travel twists and turns, but what I loved the most was the bond between these women who stuck together through thick and thin. I felt like I was right there with them and just didn’t want the story to end. I will miss the Fabulous Four, especially Hedwig and Daphne, and their relationship will continue to live rent free in my head. If you love a story that's both thrilling and heartwarming, this one's for you.

Sabina Green does it again, bringing to life relatable and emotional charged characters, weaved into a story you do not want to put down.
From the hook of the title to the last page, I went from page to page, eager to see what happened to Hedwig. I enjoyed the elements it explored about human nature and the old age question, if given the chance to go back in time, would you?

For anyone that enjoys time travel stories, this one is highly recommended on the list. Read it today, instead of thinking one day, I wish I could go back in time and read it.

You won’t be disappointed.

This book is like pure Joy in a bottle 😉

The whole way through I loved the friendship vibes and the strong independent women finding themselves.

It has some loss and grief but also healing.
It’s really well written and nice to read, it made me smile so many times. There’s so many wonderful characters to love and to enjoy their story while watching them grow as people.

It’s a book about friendship and how much other people can add to your life.

I really liked this book, it was uplifting. I would definitely recommend it especially if you need a refreshing palette cleanser.

One Two Sheep needs to be on your TBR.

I wasn't really sure what this book was about from reading the title. I don't read blurbs. I like to be surprised. Let me tell you this book is so crazy good!

Hedwig loses both of her parents. She starts getting headaches like her mom and decided to take a swim. The cold water helps. Then she wakes up in a hospital, she recognizes her doctor, but she looks younger then last time she seen her last week. Why is her doctor acting like she has never met her before? Is this some kind of dream or is she getting pranked?

This was such a beautiful and captivating read! Sabina creates a world that embodies the realities that grief, loneliness and also the need for friendship can have on a person's life. Although the plot was fairly predictable, I found this didn't matter - the enjoyment came from seeing the plot and character development. As you know I'm a thriller girl, but this book was such a lovely change of pace and was exactly what I needed after a stressful and hectic week. I can't wait to have a look at her other books!

This book is beautifully written and lays out the forming of strong friendships that last a lifetime right in front of your eyes. You will feel a part of this story and cheer for the women to reach their goal and satisfy their needs. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time, so powerful and uplifting. Loved the time travel part, it was clear and interesting. Extra points for including disability and lgbt characters. Can’t recommend One Two Sheep highly enough!

Sabina's work is always a delight to read and One Two Sheep is no exception. It is not the type of book I would usually pick up but I'm so glad I did.

The characters were unique and lovable and the storyline riveting.

This time traveling masterpiece will have you hooked, you won't regret picking it up... not unless you had something really important to do and you missed it cause you couldn't put the book down.

Would I? Not sure about that but 100% sure I can recommend this book to all readers who love original, well-balanced (both romantic and thrilling) stories about real friendship. Bet you will be surprised first and not sure what ending to wish later. Enjoy reading this story just as I did.

Time travel, friendship, and finding yourself amidst a complicated family dynamic. It was a very sweet mother and daughter relationship. I really enjoyed the time travel aspect and building such beautiful and kind relationships.
Thought it was a nice twist but a little I don't know where to go after the plot twist in the middle/end. However, I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I love books and movies about time travel in any shape, size and colour, and this is time travelling at it's best. If you go back in time don't step on butterflies, or you will change the future and something terrible happens. But what if you don't have choice and you have change the future to put things right?
I strongly recommend this book.
