About a number of figures considered as "unsaintly" (The book's title in English would be something like "The Great Unsaints".): King Saul, Judas Iscariot, Heloise, Emperor Frederick II, Mikhail Bakunin, Charles Baudelaire, Friedrich Nietzsche. Written from a religious perspective but with quite interesting findings. Rather trying to make individuals and their reasoning visible than just doing some finger-wagging. I guess that a book in such a conciliatory tone did not make the author lots of friends among his fellow Christians ... he he.
