Erik, the Phantom of the Opera and former Angel of music, has finally let the mask slip and Christine to see him for who he really is. He still sees himself as a freak, a monster and certainly not someone worthy of love, but does Christine see things the way he does? As the Viscount Raoul De' Chagny becomes more and more enamoured with Christine emotions boil over and Christine finds herself in Erik's clutches far beneath the Opera house. Both furious and obsessed by the idea of one another each tries to hold onto the fragile threads of their sanity as they both try and make the other see what was staring them in the face the whole time. For love sees only the soul.
This is part four in a five part sensual retelling of the Phantom of the Opera. There are references to sex and scenes of sexual violence that may be disturbing to some readers.
This is such an amazing romantic and sexy series. Totally recommended for those who love a darker Erik, but also one who has a connection to his own emotions. I love the monster he hides inside and how he struggles to control it. So many of us I think feel how he feels at time. Christine is cool. She’s finding her feet with this man and herself and she understands what she wants in this series. Curious to know how it will end? Looking forward to the final instalment.
I am so in love with this series, I read this in three days and I cannot wait for part 5! Loving the interactions between Erik and Christine, getting each of their thoughts, the Scorpion scene was amazing! And the play scene! Also Meg needs to shut Raoul down right here! I loved the end… I hope it works out! Roll on book 5!
Beautiful, atmospheric writing that transports you into Eric and Christine’s world. Great character development, lots of steam, and a breathtaking romance. One of my favorite phantom retellings. Can’t wait for the final installment!
