Sheet pan meals have been my saving grace during a chaotic season, so I was delighted to find this cookbook at the library. The gluten free recipes are clearly marked, which is a plus, and while I haven't yet had time to try any, I've marked a couple that I am interested in.
I did the recipe testing, styling, and photography on this book which means I made every single recipe, some more than once just because. They all come out amazing! I have officially incorporated flattatas and fro yo bark into my weekly meal prep because they’re fun and delicious. And who doesn’t love the quick clean up of a sheet pan?
This is definitely a cookbook for very healthy eaters. The chef loves egg whites and uses them in quite a few of these recipes, and never uses a whole egg. This is not me. I use the whole egg for most things, unless it's a dessert or pancakes/waffles that specifically requires egg whites whipped up, or a decadent egg yolk only chocolate concoction. You will not find any decadence here, which is fine, but the recipes are very simple and don't sound terribly tasty. Fat is often what adds flavor, and is key to my personal cooking style. However, there are a few recipes I'm willing to try, in the hopes to add to my weeknight dinner collection. I have needed quicker dinner prep recently, so I hope that the few recipes I've flagged will be good ones to add!
Fast, easy and healthy! I am a fan of Hungry Girl and this cookbook is great. The best section for me was dinners and lunches; the shrimp and feta bake was great. So are most of the chicken dinners and the lemon pork chops. Many of these are complete meals; most are made in 30 minutes and they are group-friendly. She also includes complete nutritional information. My only quibble with the book is that the pictures are not always with the recipe, and there isn't a photo for each recipe. Also, the serving size isn't uniform - some recipes make 4 servings, others 2. You can double up, but you need to be sure to check that.
This is another great cookbook from Lillien that will make it into my weekly rotation.
Fast easy recipes that use easy to find ingredients. this is a must in everyone's kitchen. I love Hungry Girls cookbooks and the make the best gifts too. Mary Reader received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required, and all views expressed are our own.
This collection is simple and quick low calorie recipes. They follow the usual Hungry Girl format, exclusively prepared in sheet pans. Definitely worth a look if you’re into easy, healthy options.
I’m intrigued by the breakfast and snack sections, but wish there were more meatless main dishes or at least suggestions for alternate proteins. - Signed a neurospicy girlie who cannot handle the sight, smell, or feel of raw meat.
