My mission is simple yet deadly—pose as the newly hired bodyguard for Vera Ivanova and assassinate her father.
But Vera, clever and defiant, doesn’t want a bodyguard. Instead, she proposes a dangerous game: I’ll be her fake husband in public.
Vera is unlike anyone I’ve encountered—intelligent, gorgeous, untamed and untouched. Everything I want and nothing I can have.
The utter destruction and demise of my ultimate plan.
Consumed by desire, I choose a new tactic: seduction.
I vow to show her a world of both pleasure and pain, a world she’s only imagined in her darkest fantasies and the pages of her books. Yet, Vera proves to be more than a match for me, ensnaring me in her own game of temptation and turning me into a man obsessed.
Now, caught in a war between duty and passion… I’m torn between the loyalty to my family and my seductive love for the enemy.
Seduction is a fully stand-alone novel in the Romanov Bratva universe. Guaranteed no other woman, no cheating, and always a hard-won happily ever after.
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
”I do the only thing a strong, independent woman whose world has been shattered does. I call my mother.” –p. 251, ll. 11-13
i’m not even sure what to write after this amount of bullshit getting into my brain, but i’m gonna try for y’all. the theme of this book wasn't dark romance. it was horror, thriller, and mystery. because it’s absolutely horrific, it gives me the thrill to kill myself, and it’s a mystery why tf i ever thought picking this up was a good idea. i envy the people who have yet to pick this up, because what the actual fuck did i just get myself into with this one smh. as a warning if you get icked out easily, don’t read any of the quotes below, now you’re warned.
“The combination of mischief and challenge, grace and intelligence, would outdo a man with lesser self-control than I have. But I’ve learned how to govern my emotions.” –p. 33, ll. 14-17
i fear it’s a cannon event, and i could not interfere. -also a typical classic asshat.
“So,” she says in a whisper as she casually picks at her cuticles. “I don’t like to sleep with pajamas on. Just saying.” Jesus. I stare at my phone and don’t look at her. I barely move. “I don’t like the feel of clothes between me and the blankets,” she continues in a whisper. “I wonder if you do.” –p. 25, ll. 8-16
this was in fact their first meeting, miss girl was so fucking unrealistically thirsty. she saw water for the first time, and decided to drown… need i say more or can y’all see where this is going?
”He presses his lips together and narrows his eyes at me. “I’m your husband. You should obey your husband.” –p. 79, ll. 6-8
an angel does in fact lose its wings every time a woman obeys her husband, and just a man in general.
”When he opens the door, I walk past him. He leans in and whispers in my ear, “I know what my job is, Vera. Do you know yours? That little attitude you gave me a few minutes ago? I’ll remember that.” He smiles and nods. “After you, wife.” –p. 80, ll. 12-16
man was working quick as fuck, and a little overtime if you ask me.
”For an intelligent man, he needs some more education.” –p. 88, ll. 9-10
the call is coming from the inside of the house…
—this is a fair warning again y’all, cause if you thought shit couldn’t get worse already you’re in for a big surprise. because i know there’s a tree out there crying over the fact its life ended for THIS book.
”He stood up for me” –p. 111, ll. 5
the bar was on the ground and miss girl grabbed a shovel.
”I want you to remember what it feels like to be humiliated and punished by your husband.” –p. 117-118, ll. 23-25
this was in fact where i realized what the absolute fuck i had gotten myself into.
“I told you, I can’t just fall asleep.” “Fine. Do you want me to tell you a bedtime story?” he teases. “Um, sure.” He continues in his rough voice, accent thick. “There once was a little girl who was up way past her bedtime. Her daddy told her to go to sleep, but she was a naughty little girl who didn’t obey, so her daddy gave her a spanking, tucked her into bed, and she cried herself to sleep. The end.” My cheeks heat. Daddy. Mmm.” –p. 127-128, ll. 16-28
”The heroine in this book is also annoyingly dumb, the type that makes you want to scream.” –p. 129, ll. 16-18
the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree missy…
“Tell me what your answer is, Vera. Let’s hear it, Kotyonok.” “Ooh. What does that mean?” “Kitten. I want to hear my little kitten purr.” –p. 162, ll. 21-24
congratulations y’all, you killed a kitten. cause the kitten in question is in fact dead from shame and second-hand embarrassment.
“Thank me,” he growls against my thigh. “Thank me while you come.” “Thank you,” I mewl as another wave of ecstasy crashes through my veins. “Thank you. Thank you. . . Daddy,” I whisper and sob as I come against his tongue with abandon.” –p. 167, ll. 16-21
are you actually fucking kidding me?? lmfao, this shit cannot be real like???
“You have an important day tomorrow, Vera,” he says in a way that’s very. . . Daddy.” –p. 194, ll. 1-2
miss girl had a mission… which was to kill me spiritually, and shred me of my last piece of happiness.
“I’ll give you that out here. But when we’re alone, little girl. . . you’re Daddy’s.” –p. 197, ll. 2-4
i kept waiting for the end of it, but the end never fucking came my gosh they just kept on going. made me wanna put a drumstick through my eyes.
”I kiss her forehead. “Such a good job, baby girl. Let’s get dinner.” –p. 221, ll. 14-15
uneducated ass man, “baby girl” is in fact a slang phrase that refers to an attractive man smh.
okay i’ll stop now, because i personally can’t take any more of this book. i can’t believe i let myself get fooled into this, because of the cover lmao. it was the devil in disguise. so if you’ll excuse me, i’m gonna go jump from a bridge, cause curiosity did in fact kill the cat, once again.
Seduction is the story of Nikko and Vera. It's the story of two mafia families trying to come out on top. Nikko Romanov's family is threatened and they decide to infiltrate the enemy's family. Vera is about to leave for Moscow to take part in a brilliant study for the next six months. Vera is smart, dedicated and very driven. They take out her bodyguard Markov and Nikko of the Romanov family will take his place as her bodyguard.
But right from their first meeting onwards things change quickly. They both yearn to touch the other one. And they have a hard time resisting the other person. They end up in a small room with one bed and things heat up really quickly.
While I did enjoy the story, I also missed a lot of things. The story felt very rushed and that resulted in a lack of depth in the characters. That also affected how the love story evolved resulting in a lack of chemistry between the two main characters. Yes, there is chemistry. But it didn't burn inside of me. And that is what I normally like in a mafia romance book. I wanted to burn and feel all their emotions, thoughts and desires. So that was really a shame.
But all in all it was still a fun and enjoyable book to read. So around 3/3.5 stars from me!
I enjoyed this story and the characters. I could feel the connection between them and I really liked getting to see them together. It's my first read from this series but it left me wanting to go back and read the previous books.
The ending is where my rating came down though. Everything seemed to be moving at a good pace and then there was this moment that it switched and the story felt like it was speeding to the end but not with anything overly exciting. Instead the story kind of just died out and there was a HEA thrown in. I still enjoyed the overall story, I just wish these characters had gotten more of an ending.
Jane Henry’s mafia men are top tier lemme tell ya…
Seduction follows Nikko and Vera. Nikko is tasked with the assignment to take out Vera’s current bodyguard and step in as her new one to get closer to her father so he can assassinate him. Her family has done his family wrong and they are seeking out their revenge…. Until he sees Vera and things change.
Vera is off to school in Moscow to live out her dreams and ends up being stuck with a bodyguard that is now staying in her room with her and the tension is unmatched. She ends up lying to her classmates and saying that Nikko is her husband… These two have a connection that is immaculate. Nikko has to stay away from her. She is forbidden. He cannot touch her…. But he really wants to.
This was a wild ride and the spice was 🔥. Actually obsessed. This series hasn’t failed me yet and I am so excited for the next! This one releases on May 24th!
Tropes -fake marriage -bodyguard X student -he falls first -Bratva romance -touch her and 💀 -he reads her romance book -tattooed mmc
Okay, SWOON, I freaking loved Nikko. He checked all my boxes and more!
Nikko was the perfect match for Vera. He knows that Vera is young and innocent and has lived a sheltered life, but he also knows she is beautiful, strong, and brilliant.
Reasons why I loved Nikko... 🥵🥰😈🔥💦 ✔️Just from her picture, he knew she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. ✔️He stalked her social media and bank accounts and listened to her conversations to get to know her. ✔️HE READS HER ROMANCE BOOKS!! 🥰 (He uses it to his full advantage 😉) ✔️He braids her hair!!! ✔️He says my wife (that alone had me melting) 🥰🥵 ✔️He sp@nks her and gives in to her reading fantasies ✔️He wants her to call him Daddy 🥵🥵 ✔️He is p0ssessive and protective of her. No one messes with her! ✔️She's his good girl 😉😈 ✔️He talks dirty to her in Russian. I loved it 🥵🔥 ✔️He loves to leave marks on her 😈 ✔️He knows her better than she knows herself, and he remembers all her favorite things 🩷
This follows Nikko Romanov 31, who is part of the Russian Mafia in New York and then we have Vera Ivanova 22, whose father is the head of the Russian Mafia in Moscow. Vera’s father may be responsible for attacks against Nikko’s family so he is sent in to pose as Vera’s bodyguard to gather information while she is at a six-month program in Moscow for biomedical research.
This book was fantastic. Vera is such a beautiful smart young woman who grew up in a sheltered life and earned a spot at this academy with a father who has never cared about her except for his own image. I find Vera strong but sassy and brings out the delicious dominant side of Nikko. This man is very protective but also listens and when he cares for her he makes me weak. The pillow talk scene was beautiful. I devoured the spice. I enjoyed this read and do recommend it!

I was incredibly consumed by Nikko and Vera’s FASCINATING, THRILLING and VERY SPICY 🌶️ story.
Nikko has a mission and that’s to kill the man responsible for the attack on his family. To get close to his target he takes on the role of Petr Ivanova’s daughter’s bodyguard. Vera is the enemy but the forbidden is always more appealing and downright seductive, and Nikko can’t help but want this smart, brilliant and innocent woman. Vera is a highly intelligent, endearing and sassy. Her curiosity with the pain and pleasure she reads in her romance books has her fantasizing about her bodyguard. Unknowingly to her Nikko is onto her guilty pleasure and decides to make her darkest fantasies come to life and in return making Vera his.
Secrets will be revealed, enemies strike and forgiveness is hoped for. So if you want to lose yourself in INTERESTING, INVITING and ENTICING characters with an EXHILARATING, SUSPENSEFUL and ELECTRIFYING storyline, you will be thoroughly delighted by Nikko and Vera’s OUTSTANDING story.

A Russian bodyguard named Nikko is assigned to protect the beautiful daughter of a Mafia boss. Vera is a beautiful and intelligent student at a school in Russia and hates the idea of a bodyguard, so she tells her friends that he is her husband. I loved how Nikko learnt about Vera and cared for her so deeply, when he braided her hair, that absolutely melted me. It was a great read, filled with chemistry, spice, daddy Dom vibes and a twist you don't see coming.
Tropes: - One bed - Bodyguard - Fake marriage - He falls first - First love
Love me a sexy brooding Russian bodyguard who is actually only pretending to be a bodyguard to get revenge for his family but then he actually falls in love with the girl he is only pretending to be a bodyguard for. The title is very accurate because I think I was even getting seduced by Mr Nikko! The beginning was a little confusing for me but that’s my fault because I haven’t read the previous books in the series, but you can catch up quickly and it didn’t affect my rating for this book at all! The spice was on point, the drama? Loved! And obviously always love a good happily ever after. Great touch her and die trope vibes. You would have to be a psycho for not falling for your fake bodyguard. BUT! I also loved how hardworking and intelligent the female MMC was like yeah go off girl! What a great read

Once again I got a daddy kink book and I’m still not sure it’s my thing.
Quite insta love-y and pretty light for mafia romance. Overall a nice read to pass time.

3.5☆ I’ve been loving this mafia series by Jane and was so excited for this instalment and the continuation of some of the side plots. This was another fast paced, he falls first, mafia bodyguard romance filled with steam, action and suspense.
Nikko is dedicated to his family and getting revenge on the man who tried to hurt them. So when he’s sent to impersonate his daughter’s bodyguard, Nikko is ready to find out everything he can before taking him out. But then he meets Vera and things quickly change when sparks start flying between them. And when they have to pretend to be married and share a bed, there’s only so long he can resist the pull between them.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁: mafia romance, fake marriage, bodyguard, one bed, forced proximity, he falls first.
The chemistry between Nikko + Vera is undeniable and as always, Jane absolutely bought the spice with this once again. I loved how protective and supportive Nikko was, always by her side beyond his duty as her bodyguard.
This wasn’t my favourite of the series, the pacing felt a little off for me and I struggled to feel a deeper, emotional connection between Nikko + Vera. It was slow to start, with a lot happening but not amounting to anything, then sped up towards the end and felt a little rushed.
I really enjoyed seeing his family and the previous couples in this. Their dynamic and banter was so fun, making me look forward to what’s next!
I am genuinely baffled by how many raving 4 and 5 star reviews this book has. It is not bad per se, but it’s definitely not good??? I mean the age gap, the lying, the timeline of it all??? Hello?????? Not to mention the god AWFUL depiction of a dom/sub relationship. Look the only good part about it was Vera’s internal struggle of trying to understand how she can crave both independence and submission bc duh, especially as a woman but the rest of it?? AWFUL!!!! Dangerous!! Look there is a fine like between certain kinks and just abuse, wanna know what that line is? CONSENT AND BOUNDARIES!!! Wanna know how those are set? YOU FUXKINF TALK ABOUT THEM AND SET IN PLACE SAFEWORDS!!! Look I get it, you read fifty shades of grey and thought oh this is the epitome of BDSM and fucking ran with it, but it wasn’t!!! And I get that this is a ✨silly little spicy 🌶️ book✨ but it is so important to write about BDSM in a safe and responsible way bc a young reader or anyone could read this and think oh this is how a dom/sub relationship is done safely when it’s not!! What happened in this book was waking the fine line of creepy and abusive and there were no real consequences or conversations had about that aspect of their relationship.
Seduction by Jane Henry is the third novel in the Wicked Vows series. Each book follows a different couple, so it can be read as a standalone, but I suggest reading the series to enjoy it entirely.

My Thoughts: I just finished reading Seduction by Jane Henry, a mafia, enemies-to-lovers romance novel. I liked this one much more than the series' second book. The last one didn't really grab me, so I couldn't finish it, but this one was much better. I enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters, and the plot was okay. Overall, this series is your typical mafia family trying to gain power, so don't expect anything super original plot-wise. However, the characters and their chemistry are what make these books enjoyable.
I am enthralled by Jane Henry's "Wicked Vows" series and have recently completed the third installment. Those familiar with the series will recall Nicco's severe beating and subsequent hospitalization, as well as the near poisoning of Mikhail's wife, Aria. The Romanov family has been relentless in their pursuit of the perpetrators, ultimately leading to the identification of a suspect and the formulation of a plan. Vera has been selected to partake in a specialized scientific program in Russia for a duration of six months. In a last-minute development, before her departure to the airport, Vera learns that her father has arranged for a bodyguard to accompany her at all times. This revelation comes as a surprise. To compound matters, the bodyguard appears to be non-English speaking, while Vera is not proficient in Russian. The narrative unfolds a series of convoluted deceit, contributing to a captivating tale of intrigue and drama. What commenced as a straightforward assignment evolves into a complex and emotionally charged journey as the protagonists unexpectedly develop a profound connection. Both cognizant of the inevitable limitations, their burgeoning affection is underscored by the revelation of explosive truths ensuing from an unforeseen plot twist. The compelling storyline has left me eagerly anticipating the forthcoming installment, "Scorched."
What you can expect: - Mafia Romance - Fake Marriage - Body guard - One Bed - He fall first - Duet Narration - Dominant MMC
This is the third book in a series but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. Generally, I love all of the tropes listed but I didn’t love how they were all done here. The story took a bit for me to get into but I felt like things moved fast.
I appreciated the duet narration!! However, I didn’t love either of the narrators. They were both ok. I think this being duet really helped with my enjoyment. I just felt like the narrators sounded very “commercial” if that makes any sense.
Over-all, I will probably go back and read the first and second books. This one is for the mafia romance lovers!!
Big thanks to Valentine PR and the Author for an ALC! This is my honest review.
I enjoyed the story, but like the previous book, there clearly wasn't proper review and revisions. Several scenes didn't make sense because information was contradictory or missing.
Most egregious was at the end, when Vera was suddenly talking about which of the Romanov brothers her sister Lydia would marry when nothing like that had been discussed. In fact, a later scene showed Nikko and Viktor discussing Lydia's current arranged engagement with another bratva. It just seems like the author wrote a lot of scenes in isolation, and didn't make sure everything was clear or cohesive when put together.
I'll still continue reading the series, but I wish the experience wasn't marred by these problems.
I read this in a day. The lies just kept piling up keeping me invested until the very end. I adored Vera and Nikko. Theres something about an MMC thats willing to take a bullet for his woman that just does it for me. That twist in the end was amazing! I thought I knew what was going to happen and boy was I wrong! I'll definitely be diving into this entire series.
Book Contains: - Bodyguard - Mafia - Fake relationship - Big Secret - Touch her and d!e - Protective MMC - Mafia Princess - Sub/Dom - BD$M - One Bed
Nicely written, but I think authors these days are taking advantage of BDSM to spice up their books; whether it makes sense or not. I felt it was out of place in this story and would have liked to have seen a slow burn without the erotic element. Would have made more sense to me. It stands alone within a series.
This book is honestly horrible. The dialogue is just painful to witness. It’s supposed to be erotic of sorts but truly it feels written for children. DNF’d at 75% and I cannot believe I made it this far. I’m not sure who the editor was and who sent this book to print but karma will find you
I would also like to add this is my first time DNF’ing so I hope that provides context to how atrocious reading this was.
