Detective Theo Kingsley never thought he'd never find love again after his wife was killed in a hit-and-run in New York City.

Ava Sullivan left the Amish to become a writer after her family locked her up in their basement for years--all because she witnessed her father attempting murder. Once she is finally free, she moves to New York City with big plans of going to college and getting published--instead, she is tricked and lured into forced prostitution with the false promises of getting a publishing contract.

Once she gets out and testifies against the criminals in court who stole two years of her life, she decides to go back to Unity, Maine to see her friends from childhood--but she keeps hearing the voice of her pimp threatening to track her down and kill her for testifying against him if he ever gets out of prison.

While she's in Unity, Detective Theo Kingsley stops by to visit and check on the Amish families who were victims of the trafficking kidnappings he investigated not long ago. When he meets Ava while visiting the Kulp family, he is instantly drawn to her.

Ava wants to get to know him and let him into her life, but she is afraid she will never trust any man ever again.
When a threat from her past comes after her, Theo may be the one person who can protect her, if she will let him.

AMISH ALLIANCE is the ninth book in the Covert Police Detective Unit and I've only read the first two books so far. All have been five star reads for me and I look forward to reading the books I've missed.

This is Ava's story along with Theo. There are some heartwrenching topics covered and I had tears along with my stomach clenching quite a few times while reading. The plot was well developed and there were multiple stories being told. The story takes place in Maine and New York City and there are Amish characters as well as Englischers.

The story has a good flow and lots of unexpected twists and turns. There was kindness and compassion along with crimes committed, injuries, friendships and family. We're reunited with a few characters we've met before. There is a romance brewing and a happily ever after. The epilogue was lengthy but covered a nice timeframe and gave lots of details of how their lives have turned out. I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Emma.

Ashley Emma has done it again with another CPDU Amish book. This one is book 9 of the series and is just as spellbinding as the other 8 books to this series. In this one, we get to meet Ava and Theo. Ava, even though she's Amish, has had a rough life as her father was an abusive person. At the age of 6, Ava comes back to the house after being with her 3 brothers at the creek where they were to be watching her when she hears her parents arguing and sees her father strangling her mother and says she'll report him to the bishop, to stop her he takes her to the basement and builds a room he locks her in and then tells the boys that because they didn't watch their younger sister that she drowned and it was their fault. Read the book to see how she is finally released and what else goes on in her new life now that she's not locked up. And enjoy reading how Ava and Theo meet.

Wow! I was not expecting this Amish story to have quite as much action or the really heinous characters who affected heroine Eva's life (trying to avoid spoilers!). Unfortunately I felt like the first two main sections of Eva's life were more telling than showing, and it wasn't until the third/last section of her story that I really felt settled into it. I think I wanted to see more how the trauma in her earlier years affected her life. The author was very ambitious with this plot. It's not at all a simple, peaceful Amish story! I was provided an advance copy and am giving my honest review.

Amish Alliance is truly an inspirational story written by Ashley Emma. This story has very defined characters that really bring this story to life. This story is filled with such heartache, devastation, love, and faith but told in such a way it gives the readers the sense of hope and healing. I absolutely loved this story and the series.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not asked to post a favorable review. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

I like the CPDU books (I have read all but #8-I hesitate to pay the price since so many good authors offer their books free or for 99 cents). But they are so long. The story winds down to a good ending, then another drama begins. I know the author has editors, but I often find errors. Like after the Miller murder, the police have a warrant and search, then they ask later if they can do a search. Where Miller is found in his tool shed and then it becomes Ava's shed. And where Samuel repeats that he does not to live in the family home.

Another good book by Ashley. This one is a little different as most of it doesn’t evolve around the Amish as Ava leaves the area after being freed from being a hostage by her own father and when she comes home doesn’t wish to go back to them. This poor girl faces more than any one person should ever have to but due to her faith in God and help from her many friends y(mostly Amish) she survived it to carve out a happy place for herself. Very enjoyable read.

the best way to end this series

I always wondered what happened with Ava. Wow of any of my thoughts would have never been the way it went when she went to New York.
In a lot of ways this reminded me of the story of Job in the Bible.
Also this was the first suspense book series read. I will be adding this to my list of books. I have to say this series is the best books I have read.
Awesome job.

This is a well-written story with interesting characters and a young lady who is locked away for years. When she is finally freed, she decides to go to college so she can learn to be a writer. Unfortunately, she is almost immediately tricked by a man who pretends to be an agent who can help her get her book published. Despite all Ava has been through, she is strong and finds a way to overcome her past. I loved how she never lost faith in God and kept going.

Exciting and inspirational

An amazing story about a woman who was severely traumatized twice, and still found a way back to the light. Ava Sullivan was put in the basement as a six year old by her father, only to be released more than ten years later. When she left her Amish community to get a college education, she was traumatized again. This is a story of hope and faith! Great read!

This story moves difficult topics, like abuse, prostitution, crime but it is showed without graffic descriptions. It is well written book, with authentic characters and interesting plot. I enjoyed reading it even that it was sometimes hard to digest how people could be cruel to each other. I recommend this position to read.

An Amish story of survival

This story pulls you in from the beginning and doesn't disappoint. I was intrigued by the Amish background as well as by Ava who had to learn how to survive. It takes you to a darker world, but will lead back to the Amish community who come together for support. I highly recommend this story.

contemporary romance

This story talks of abuse, forced prostitution, and murder. Nothing in great detail. This story shows Ava journey and how she overcomes her obstacles and grows stronger in her faith and continues to persevere and even find love

covert police alive and well

This book has so many twists and turns I loved it. There were at least four issues going on and intertwined. I enjoyed it from page to the end.

TRIGGER WARNING: Deals with severe domestic and child abuse, kidnapping, murder, trafficking, and prostitution.

This book covers the life of a young Amish girl who survives multiple tragedies. It is a very heavy read and this Amish community's belief system differs some from all the others I've read. Great book. Wish I had found the series sooner.

I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
