Brynn's life is rocked in a moment when she loses her sister. Now she wants to know who murdered her sister. Delving into a world she knows nothing about she catches the eye of Adrian but little does she know about his tie to her late sister.
Adrian is the CEO of Benedict Technologies, but he also is a Dom at Club Lotus. He is a man with secrets that continue to haunt him. Adrian doesn't form attachments but when Brynn is in danger, he finds himself doing something outside his norm.
Cliffhanger ending. I enjoyed the pacing in this one and how the story unfolded. I think Brynn and Adrian are polar opposites but something about these two works. As a reader you are pulled in right away and it does not let up.

I enjoyed this book at times it did remind me of fifty shades but I enjoyed the undercurrent of mystery surrounding his sleepwalking an Bea's death and if they are linked. I feel like Brynn isn't the strongest FMC though but I am intrigued to see how she comes into her own in the next book

Being a fan of mystery and dark romance, I thought of giving this read a try and very glad I did so. The story hooks you in from the beginning to see where these characters take us. Brynn has just lost her sister and she can’t understand why. In time, she seeks to get her own understanding of what could have happened to her. She gets to discover a different side of her and curiosity gets the best of her. Adrian is quite the mysterious man with a dark past and his robust dominant side. When Brynn gets deeper into her sister’s, Blair, submissive lifestyle, her curiosity peaks and ends up connecting with Erebus69. The story gets deeper as attraction is more than skin deep, trust levels and dealing with painful pasts. Personally, I’ve read other similar type books where the slow burn romance, mystery and explicit nature do not mesh well, but the authors connected such a great story line with amazing characters who brought the story to life. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Shadows in the Dark was so good!! I love a billionaire romance and this did not disappoint. Secret BDSM club dark romance with a surprise connection for the FMC and MMC that I can’t wait to see play out. The cliffhanger had me needing the next book asap! Definitely would recommend.

Excellent book can’t wait for book 2.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book hate that it ended in a cliffhanger.
Love the characters so far and can’t wait to see how Adrian and Bryann relationship builds up.

Once I started reading Shadows in the Dark, I didn't want to put my tablet down. The storyline grabbed me from the start and it held my interest all the way through. Billionaire romance at its finest! A great start to the story of Adrian and Brynn. Their chemistry is hot! I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy! Wonderful, wonderful book!!

Adrian is a private man with a dark past. He is plagued with sleepwalking and not knowing what he has done. He often woke up several miles away from home or in different rooms, with no recollection of how he got there. Adrian has sadistic tendencies and enjoys being a dominant at Lotus, a BDSM club that requires a specific invitation. He rarely invited anyone more than once.
Brynn's sister, Blair, was found in the San Francisco Bay. After she moves into Blair's former condo, Brynn accesses Blair's laptop and discovers a shocking secret. Blair had a darker side; she was a submissive who found pleasure in pain.
Brynn discovers her sister’s stash of journals inside a secret compartment in a wall. She researches the lifestyle in detail after meeting Erebus69. After following Erebus69's verbal instructions, Brynn receives an invitation to Lotus. What she is unaware of is that Blair had been one of Erebus69’s submissives. For a story full of suspense and a slow-burn romance, Shadows in the Dark is an exceptional book. A dark past mixed with the painful memories of a lost loved one plagues both sides of this story. Brynn never knew her sister’s affinity for being a masochist. Adrain’s guilty conscience for his twin sister’s death. The isolation of both characters puts them at risk of harm. If Adrian is possibly killing people in his sleep, Brynn is a prime victim. Their shared time on Olympus and trysts on Lotus bring the steam factor in a tasteful way. The emotions that the sexual acts are displayed, the primal desire for dominance driving both to trust the other. The intricate details lead the plot into unforeseen circumstances for both characters. The story sets a solid foundation for the trilogy, and the intense end left me anxious to read the sequel. This is definitely a 5-star book I recommend for mature adults who like to delve into the BDSM world, featuring two lost people meeting physically. Will they also connect on an emotional level?

The tension was palpable, and I was left groaning in frustration at the cliffhanger ending! The connection between Adrian and Brynn lingers like a shadow throughout the story, yet neither of them is aware of the dark thread tying them together—at least, not in this first tantalizing installment of the trilogy. What we do know is that Adrian was once her dead sister’s Dom, but Brynn has only just begun to uncover the depths of her sister’s secret life. Determined to understand what pulled her sister into this world, Brynn is drawn toward the same dangerous allure, setting the stage for an electrifying and risky exploration. Adrian, however, is a man haunted by his own demons. His need for control is suffocating, and the only place he finds release is within the walls of the mysterious and exclusive sex club, Lotus. This is book 1 of a new series and it will leave you looking for more. Brynn lost her sister tragically and it seems she doesn’t know why are sister was in the area they found her body. She’s looking for answers and she finds a lot more the. She bargained for. She ends up taking Blair’s dog when she passes away and eventually moving into her place. Brynn was a quiet, friendly girl who got along with the 3 people who run the company she works for. One night she finds her sisters laptop and breaks into it by guessing her password and finds her sister had a secret life at lotus. She finds a secret chat page for doms and subs to connect. Not just anyone can join the chat page. Brynn finds a way to join and ends up talking to someone right away. This is just research to find the answers she’s looking for but one specific dom finds her right away and invites her to Lotus. She ends up meeting him and scening with him. Brynn and Adrian find something in the comfort of one another.

Okay, first, I am going to tell you that if you get even part way into this book and you love it and can't wait to finish it.... just go order book 2 (and 3!)!! You can preorder them, then Jan. 21st, 2025 you will get it (Book 3 releases in April). This book ends on a cliffhanger and you will hate yourself for not just grabbing the next book/books! Trust me. I know I can't wait to read the rest of the series!! I hate that I have to wait so long :(

So when a newbie pops up asking questions, he jumps at the chance to teach her a lesson and the rules of the lifestyle. Brynn is looking for answers about her sister's death. Finding she was hiding a whole part of her life (she's a pain SUB), she jumps into the lifestyle, not knowing what she will find out about her sister, or herself. That ending…… I have yet to find an Anise Storm book I don’t instantly love from page one, and this was just another addition to the pile. Honestly, I didn’t expect to personally have a connection to Brynn, in knowing how it feels to get that call about your sibling but saying I ugly cried as my own memories flooded my mind would be an understatement. Anise Storm has a way of making you feel everything so deeply that it becomes your pain too. Dual perspectives Adrian and Brynn.
Adrian left Greece the first chance he got. Leaving behind the lost control and the family shipping business. His passion career wise is technology and he has become a success in San Fransisco. Only his past has never left him. Brynn moved to the Bay Area to be closer to her sister Blair but a couple days after talking to her she gets the call no one ever wants to receive. Her sister’s body had been found in the Bay and there was an ongoing investigation into what happened to her. Life doesn’t stop when tragedy strikes. Moving into her sisters’ place, taking care of her dog Lug Nut and going through everything one thing piques her interest. An email invitation to Olympus. She and her sister shared everything, at least that’s what she thought. Now caught up in more than one mystery Brynn comes face to face with Adrian. Only things don’t exactly go as planned.
What happened to Blair? Can the secrets truly stay in the darkness? Will Brynn find the answers she needs? This world is our world. It’s not a fantasy world but one that although is exclusive it is real. The characters Adrian and Brynn are beyond relatable, perhaps not in every aspect, but in many ways it’s easy to see why they make certain decisions. Even Blair is relatable. We all have our secrets in the dark, but what happens when those secrets are the answers to everything. Honestly seeing to be continued broke my heart wide open. Shadows in the Dark is an intriguing dark romance. One that I enjoyed and look forward to more books in this new series! A series written by an author I’m quite a fan of. I always try to read everything my favorite authors release, this one being no different.
Given a story about two people who are broken in different ways. And both for the same reason, a loss of a sister. The author gives the reader an interesting story to navigate and wonder what happened.
Brynn, finds out her only friend/sister was found dead and she’s in a place where she’s not sure which direction life goes from here. Deciding to move into her place and take care of her dog, she soon discovers her sister had a secret life. A secret life that she feels may have led to her very demise. A secret life that as she digs deeper into it, she doesn’t realize will change hers forever.
Adrian, considers himself a monster and not worthy of love. So instead he lives to give others pleasure and pain to keep himself at a distance. Reality he hasn’t truly dealt with his sisters death and that guilt and remorse is leaking into all aspects of his life. Once he loses a submissive he sent away to death he feels partially to blame there too. Till he meets Brynn(Karma.) She’s new and shiney but also different. Something he’s never experienced before but is craving more. What he doesn’t realize is that Brynn is Blair’s sister.

The author keeps you guessing as the story moves on. A book I struggled to put down, know that as much as I enjoyed it. There’s dark undertones which could very well be a trigger for someone. Just consider everything before reading, otherwise it’s well worth it!
Given a story about two people who are broken in different ways. And both for the same reason, a loss of a sister. The author gives the reader an interesting story to navigate and wonder what happened.
Brynn, finds out her only friend/sister was found dead and she’s in a place where she’s not sure which direction life goes from here. Deciding to move into her place and take care of her dog, she soon discovers her sister had a secret life. A secret life that she feels may have led to her very demise. A secret life that as she digs deeper into it, she doesn’t realize will change hers forever.
Adrian, considers himself a monster and not worthy of love. So instead he lives to give others pleasure and pain to keep himself at a distance. Reality he hasn’t truly dealt with his sisters death and that guilt and remorse is leaking into all aspects of his life. Once he loses a submissive he sent away to death he feels partially to blame there too. Till he meets Brynn(Karma.) She’s new and shiney but also different. Something he’s never experienced before but is craving more. What he doesn’t realize is that Brynn is Blair’s sister.

This story has other elements such as mystery, intrigue, plenty of hot steamy chemistry but also deals with grief and loss. Both of our main characters are dealing with things and demons but can they find a way of quietening their demons together.
Brynn is heartbroken. She has just found out that she has lost her sister in circumstance she doesn't understand. Now struggling with grief and wanting answers to what happened to her sister Brynn embarks on a discovery that will change her life forever.

Totally different book than I’m used to but kept me going page after page in trying to figure out who really is the bad guy. Have my thoughts but will have to get the next book to know for sure. Thie book is not for the faint of heaty nor the judgmental person. Why people do what they do and for what reason is strictly for them to decide and in this book, we see the main character Brynn explore the submissive side that her sister had. She was totally unaware of her sister’s needs but was willing to understand it and as the book progressed tested her own feelings for it.
Adrian is the main male character and has more than a few problems. You got to feel for a guy who list his twin at an early age and who’s “been a huge disappointment” to his father yet is extremely successful in his own right. It’s hard to know what it feels like to be groomed to take over the family business yet never wanting to do so.You.ve got to give him credit for doing his own thing but it has to be difficult to have a father thing of your being a billionaire as a failure.

Adrian feels he’s a monster and unworthy but instead of dealing with his pain and issues he rather gives pain and pleasure to others as a Dom at the exclusive LOTUS but when one his subs dies he starts questions himself and that doesn’t bode well for his already dark and painful persona …
Brynn was single and care free , living the life and her only real worry was fighting off her boss’s advances but in a blink of an eye she mourning the death of her sister , living in her condo and caring for her dog but it’s also here where she discovers that her sister lives a double life and it could very well be this life that cost her life ! Those journals must’ve been hard to go through and the questions never ending 🤷♀️

To say I enjoyed this book would be an understatement… I could not put it down even if you forced me! Anise is starting to become one of my favorite authors. I have loved every book I have read from her and this one just adds to the pile. I have never read anything from Taylor before so I was a bit iffy but so glad I took the chance! Amazing work ladies!
While two authors wrote this book you would never know it! It flowed so well and was so easy to get dragged into the story…. And that cliffhanger! There is a warning before reading saying there will be a cliffhanger, so I knew to prepare for one but I didn’t think it was going to be that. I am so excited for the second and third book, I have sooo many questions that I need answered.
If you don’t like spice or dark romances, just stay away from this book… this work of art needs to be protected! There is knife play and wax play so if that's not your thing… I would say skip this book but honestly, i think you still should read it but skip that scene, especially if you love dark romances (it's not done a lot in the book, and skipping that scene wont ruin the overall story for you)
If you do like spice though…. Phew! I need you as a friend to talk to about that club scene…. Iykyk.

Adrian is an incredibly rich man with incredibly rich tastes. He is the man that women want and men want to be. He is the ultimate in power in his business as well as his personal life. What no one knows however, is that he keeps himself alone because he believes himself to be a danger to others - to be a killer. He randomly finds himself coming awake in strange places and not knowing what took place between falling asleep and ending up wherever he awakens. He relies on Club Lotus and being a dominant in the BDSM community to make the connections he can't do without, but doesn't invite the same woman twice.
Brynn is a woman lost in grief after the loss of her sister, Blair. After the loss, she begins going through her sisters things and finds out her sister kept a big secret from most people in her life - she was a submissive within club Lotus. As Brynn begins to learn more about Blair and her desires, she starts to dig deeper and learns some secrets about herself, as well.
As Adrian and Brynn are both lost in the grief of missing their sisters, they are floating through life and trying to find answers. As can be expected, the meet and begin to seek some kind of resolution within one another. Lots of slow build, lots of emotion and suspense, and a lot of primal desires. I really enjoy learning the mindset behind BDSM, as other than some assumptions many make, I think a lot of people don't understand. Another win, can't wait for the release of the rest of this series!

This fiery story of mystery, BDSM and a CEO that has some demons going on. Adrian is the CEO of Benedict Tech and one of the main Doms at the local BDSM club. While searching for answers in her sister’s death, Brynn starts looking through her sister’s journals and the lifestyle she kept hidden. So Brynn starts to tip toe in to see if she can find out more about who had come in and out of her sister’s life. What she doesn’t expect- that she would be drawn to a specific Dom and pieces start to bring them closer together and not just in the bedroom.
This story had me turning pages so fast, I thought I was going to get paper cuts! I loved how the author added a softness to the rough and strong CEO/Dom, it made him more appealing. Brynn is the perfect main character as a mix of super smart, hardworking, curious in sexuality and overall I felt like we could be friends. And of course, the spice is spicing in this story and I had to look up some things I didn’t know and I can appreciate the work that was placed to make the scenes believable. I cannot wait for the next book because the cliff hanger has me craving more!.

Thought the ideas behind this story looked interesting: dark romance, missing sister, sleep walking MMC until I realised where the plot was going. Of course, I could be wrong because this did end on a cliff hanger so all possibilities are open.
However, the sticking point for me is the supposed BDSM relationship between Adrian and Brynn. Apart from feeling the author needs to research more about this type of relationship, the MMC presents more as a sick sadist who uses the idea of BDSM to get willing women to abuse: spoiler alert****(whipping a new untrained sub until she bleeds, knife play and blood letting on said sub - and other BDSM practices that are poorly imagined), than a proper Dom.
Whether this abuse ends up in death/murder is the key thread of the story as Adrian suffers from a sleep walking amnesia at times when women he knows are found murdered.
This is where the story sort of unfolded for me because even if Adrian was sleep walking he would have been seen on CCTV or other surveillance equipment, even people, as he wandered city streets. Which is a shame because it does have potential.
So, in conclusion, if you're not looking for anything remotely real but need a quick, violence driven read then this is for you. Read any TWs you can find first.

Brynn an executive assistant to three men, one of which starts to become more persistent in pursuing her, leading her to start job hunting. Brynn soon discovers that her sister was found deceased and makes the decision to move into her sister’s condo. In this process of going through her sisters’ items, she learns that her sister had a secret life that she was not aware of. Brynn slowly starts to research and insert herself into this lifestyle in hopes that she will get invited to the secret club and find answers regarding her sister’s murder. However, the adventure starts to reveal things about her own self that she finds shocking.
As Brynn starts a new chapter in her life, the book leaves me to question how Brynn will proceed after finding out who her new boss is.

This is the beginning of a new series and I was excited to start reading it. I have read one of these authors before and that is what had my attention when I found this book. I was not disappointed at all. This book is amazing. It really starts the series with a great start and will have you wishing you had the second book right away when you finish it. There is steam in this book, BDSM, dark romance, and plot twists and turns that you don't see coming but can't imagine them not being in the book once you read them. This is a page turner and I could not function with anything in my daily life until I finished this book. I actually have a book hang over from this one and am having a hard time finding something else to sink my teeth into. I cannot stress enough how amazing this book is if you like dark romance and BDSM. I am impatiently patiently waiting for the second book. I have a feeling that this book will become one that I reread numerous times and probably the whole series once its complete. Enjoy a different world as you sink your teeth into the pages and watch the words and characters jump off the pages as you loose yourself in what the authors did an amazing job with writing.

While looking through her sisters things she uncovers something about Blair that she never knew, she was a submissive. Brynn was shocked to say the least but also determined to see for herself if it had anything to do with Blair's death. Will she be able to find out who is responsible? I was a bit miffed that this left us in a cliffhanger but the next installment is just around the corner. I am very much looking forward to getting my hands on it when it is released.

Shadows in the Dark is Book 1 of the Dark Lotus Trilogy...and wow if you love dark romance with sizzling BDSM like I do....I very highly recommend this story. Leaving it all on the table, this story of Adrian and Brynn, then tension, control, secrets, pleasure and pain....I love the connection that I have to the characters...and already cannot wait until the next book in the series to see what happens next.
The lingering darkness that shadows over Adrian and the demons he keeps within himself..he is
methodical in every aspect of his life, from work to play and keeps everyone at a distance. Brynn is
trying to figure out what happened to her sister, as she is notified of her murder, grieving, and trying to find the truth. As Brynn opens up detailed secrets that her sister had, she opens up a new world that she is now becoming part of.....and it starts with Adrian. As Adrian’s dominate side comes out more and is drawn to Brynn.....he is becomes more protective of her. Will Brynn find out any truths while trying to navigate this new submissive world with Adrian....
I highly recommend this read....totally dark and delicious indeed!!

I have enjoyed everything I have read by Anise Storm so far and this is another great book to add to the collection. It started a little slow for me but after the first few chapters the story picked up and I could not put it down. Just make sure to check the triggers on this one before reading.
Brynn and Adrian meet by chance in an online chat room that is cover for an exclusive members only club. Brynn is a quiet, seemingly shy executive assistant. Adrian is an alpha male billionaire who has set his sights on Brynn. He introduces her to his dominant side that she can't seem to resist. The two have an instant connection and Brynn finds out she likes the submissive side of herself. The heat from these two was pouring off the pages in waves. Adrian is definitely book boyfriend worthy.
There is an underlying mystery that adds another layer of interest so it keeps the story flowing. This ends in a cliffhanger so there are some unanswered questions and definitely a little plot twist toward the end that I loved.
This was such a good read and I am anxious for the next book to come out so I can see where this story is going.
