‘The ADHD Focus Friend’ is so beautifully put together and how could it not be 5 stars with those stickers at the end?!! I’m obsesseddd. Grace breaks down what it’s like to live with ADHD and shares some brilliant strategies and templates for navigating day-to-day life.
Affirming and empowering. My brain - perpetually racing, concocting all manner of plans and projects, always tripping over itself - gave off sparks and glowed and buzzed with pleasure reading this book. “I am seen, I am known, I am not alone!” With compassion, with scientific evidence and lived experience, it showed ADHD in a forgiving, uplifting, encouraging light. What a relief to know: I’m not a loser, after all, I just have a different way of being.
Zbývá mi pár nevyplněných plannerů - a nejsem si jistá, jestli mi určitě budou vyhovovat, zatím testuju.
Something about the illustration style of this book, a style overused in advertising today, made me concerned the information would be trite or limited. Instead I found a worthwhile workbook, advice and sets of exercises to improve day-to-day obstacles and longer term issues like organization or developing too many projects. Even though I don’t have ADHD, as far as I’m aware, I still recognized clear personal similarities in 50% of the content and descriptions. I found the exercises and approaches helpful and well designed for anyone and I recommend it for new ways to organize or reset when things become challenging for multiple reasons. The author’s well-researched, expertly applied advice, is kindly composed and helpful toward major improvements when energy goes a bit sideways.
I really appreciated that this book was focused on giving you facts in a fun, informative way. Koelma doesn't go too far into the details, but focuses on what we need to know, and good ways to get around things. It's also phenomenal because it's colorful, fun, takes advantage of graphic design in a way that keeps neurospicy brains engaged. Cannot recommend enough!
I felt validated in so many ways in this book. The style it’s written in is similar to your inner monologue if you will. Added bonus of 2 charts (20+ each maybe?), one a habit tracker and one a Daily To-Do by time block. Pro tip, if you have an exacto-knife use that to get the charts out. Or rip it out if you’re feral! 10/10
"There's a grief in not contributing in the way we hope."
This is a book that was very easy to read. I'm pretty sure I highlighted more than half of it! It made me feel validated and had a lot of useful resources. Only downside is I wish it was longer !
This has been so helpful to me. i have been using it consistently since buying and I am able to accomplish so much more, and also be kinder to myself simultaneously.
