I read all three volumes of this series in one sitting. It's sooo adorable! I am crushed there's no more but the ending was satisfying. I love that Square-Enix published BL!
I greatly appreciate that this is a manga about an older couple. I'm not sure exactly how old Aki is, but the boss was clearly over 40 and that's rare to see in manga in general for MCs. I liked how this resolved and I loved the small side story at the end. I hoped maybe we'd get a bit more of a hint at a story for Ritsu, but overall, I enjoyed this short little series.
I’m sad that this is the final volume, but it was so sweet and I really loved seeing the journey that these characters went on!!! Such a sweet, slowburn romance! 🥰💖
this was cute, but it didn't help that i was half asleep for most of it (not that it was boring, i was just THAT tired today), probably will reread someday in the near future heh
They finally confessed their feelings to each other and now they are fianlly together but do wish we got one more volume of them being together as a couple.
I Hightly recommend reading this if you want something quick to read.
Nooo now it’s finished!!! It was a cute little series to follow. It is a shame that there isn’t one more but oh well. I want a side story for ritsu tho! His unrequited love for the captain even though he’s in love with the boss, man I hope he finds love (maybe that other boss guy lol)
TBH, it's not one of my favorite series I've ever read but it has been fairly enjoyable -- as I said on my review of volume two, it's a very fast read, so I feel that I get and equivalent amount of enjoyment out of it compared to the time I put into it.
More like a 2.5. Overall, I enjoyed the series but I was hoping for more.
Tome 1 hooked me immediately. I really enjoyed Aki’s perspective. It was funny , refreshing, and I love his personality. I loved watching the boss slowly realize he was falling in love, and I finished the whole volume in a single day.
Tome 2, however, lost all the charm that made the first book so engaging. When the antagonist came to the picture I didn’t really see his added value (I guess he was my reminder that main characters were mafias 🙃 and why Aki fell in love) Writing this review now, I already barely remember what happened 😖
In my opinion, Tome 2 and Tome 3 should have been reversed. Seeing them being a couple before all the danger, tension and mafia element would have made the stakes feel higher and the story more emotionally gripping.

We were on such a high from book one! Book two had a stalling and then book three sent me to the pits of hell. I debated giving this one star and I might come back later and do it, but my biggest gripe was it took far too long for the romance to come together. This last volume also got insanely K-Drama-y and I didn't care for the vibe.
So sad this is the last volume! Maybe we can get a spin-off for Ritsu and Boss Minakami, even if just a single volume. Glad that Aki and the boss are finally together but sad that we didn’t get to see the boss take Aki apart at the end there. The bonus art at the end was super cute too.

Somehow filled with even more tropes than the last two volumes, but it works for what it is. Very cute, and it’s nice to finally get some resolution.
Love bl centered around older men so much, but I have two issues with this series now that I want to mention. Firstly, especially in this volume, they keep bringing up just how fatherly and paternal their relationship was/ is. Can we not do that please. They are both middle aged/ older now but still. Why did they have to play up that aspect. Secondly, I hateeee how they visually feminize (and lowkey de-age) Aki in many of the scenes where he gets to kiss or be intimate in some manner with his boss. I noticed this a bit in the other two volumes but it was the worst here. In that bonus chapter I was lowkey like who even is this that the boss is making out with right now. It reeks of homophobia (duh, I should know better) and is also just weird! Let the two buff and rugged middle aged men kiss and look like buff and rugged middle aged men!

The story came to an end. It was cute but a bit hasty, even though it took three volumes to get to the HEA. And even to the end, I couldn’t quite get into the romance. No matter that Aki is a grown man and a cold-blooded mafia killer, his dealings with his boss make his seem like a puppy, and since the boss is so much older, it was a bit creepy. Especially since everybody, occasionally them too, call them father and son.
It took circumstances forcing them to confessions, but they ended up happy, and that’s enough. Extra story has a hint of spice, and there are some extras at the end.
All in all a good series that don’t need to be longer than this. But perhaps there’s a spin-off for Ritsu, as the volume hinted at a romance for him too. Might be on a more even footing than this one. 🤞
Very cute, although ultimately kind of silly. None of the actual yakuza stuff made any real sense, and I didn't understand the point of the brief battle in this one, or how the power struggle was even shaking out. Did they think Minakami was siding with the guys who ran Sawatari down with the car, or not? And then the whole thing just got abruptly dropped for the romantic reunion and conclusion.
Which is fine, but the plot was...really nonsensical. You just have to look past that to appreciate the amusing cuteness of the main couple. It had the potential to be a great story that was ultimately sort of a mess of tropes with some adorable pining and some pretty nice kisses. And hints, I guess, of a side romance between Minakami and Ritsu?
This was really cute, I enjoyed the slow burn “took a bit to realize feelings weren’t as paternal as he thought” aspect more than I typically do.
Ngl I am disappointed that it ended up being fade to black. It’s more or less shounen ai vs yaoi, imo, which obv has its place and is good too but I wanted the adult intimacy angle after all the cute blushing and flustered puppying after the boss, plus the boss coming to terms with his feelings, where he kept saying father this paternal figure that, I wanted him to prove to himself that it wasn’t that physically.
Still a 5/5 series and I recommend it if you’re craving some low heat cute stuff
Solid 3.5! This was a cute and quick series without too much at stake. It was nice to see them both confess to the other and blush maybe 1000 times. I know this arc is over, but it felt like the ending with Ritsu alluded to a spinoff? Or maybe I'm just hoping for too much.
Also, shout out to my library for acquiring these volumes. Saved me $$ and I was able to finish the series in a day without having to wait.
SO CUTE okay the kiss was really cute and aki looked so submissive and breedable in that one panel hngggh. i did not expect the boss to get hit by that truck so that was truly a #shocker. i liked the ending, they're both so cute and are the perfect fit for each other and i'm glad ritsu found someone too <3 i stumbled across this at books-a-million and decided to read the whole thing online when i got home and i'm glad i did.

I don’t know if it’s because I read it in one day or if it’s the last volume buuuuut it was short. 😩😩😩😩 everything wrapped up pretty quickly especially Kashima and his boss revealing their feelings for each other. We get a scare towards the end but Kashima proves why he’s second in command and we get their happy ending.

very cute ending, but maybe I've been reading things with a bit more violence/darkness in the plot (chasing smoke) when around yakuza tropes that it felt a little underwhelming. however, still a cute series overall! would read again if in the mood for something with a little lower stakes. plus, i wanted more for ritsu
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo, WHY IS IT OVERRRRR?!?!?! *sobbiiiiiiing* there isn't enough good yakuza BL out there, and this one is so damn cuuuuuuuuuuuteeeeeee. Dammiiiiit! I love the whole boss x second hand man dynamic so damn much, they are both cute and stupid, and a bit of action is in here too. But its just a sweet yakuza story, and now its over *sob*
This series is SO SWEET—and I can’t recommend it enough!
Especially if you are looking for BL with more mature characters, this is such a great choice. It’s so refreshing to see an older couple—in a super mutually respectful relationship—featured in this genre.
Overall was a sweet, cute and short slow-burn BL manga series. Would have liked there to be more volumes but i enjoyed it nonetheless. Satisfied with the ending; they finally get together yay!! I’d love if we got a spin-off of Ritsu and of who he might end up with as I liked his character, there was potential there.
As a whole, this series is cute. I’m glad I read it, but i think this is not a series that I would read again cause the story is a little bland and not very romantic. Like I just feel meh after finishing these books that I’ve been waiting almost a year to read…. Oh well!
A really cute ending, and I think the author made a good choice in stopping the pining here. There was exceptional funny moments and sweet ones too. I really hope we explore more of these other characters and syndicates added into the mix.

I could've read this series forever tbh but there's also something to be said for a series that's short and sweet. Glad to know there's a universe out there where old man yaoi is the most powerful force of all.
Started out cute & funny but went downhill from there 😔. The couple is still cute even though their history is a bit questionable. The plot was pretty meh after vol 1.
