This is not good. Not even getting into the actual story, the writing is juvenile and stilted, sentence structure is inconsistent, and there’s more telling than showing happening.
Now the story: I like insta-love/lust, but it has to make at least some sense. Steel just sees Iggie and wants him to be his. Knows Iggie is “it” for him after one date. The author hasn’t hit the right tone, at least by the time I stopped reading. Instead of being the sexy stalker and endearingly obsessive, Steel comes across as just downright creepy. Nothing he does up to 34% with regard to Iggie is cute, sweet, or sexy. And mention of his past stalking tendencies (that didn’t work out well), made it worse.
MC books are hit or miss for me (usually a miss), so take that for what it’s worth. I know that MCs are typically seedy and morally gray or black, but I’m okay with it if those parts are basically glossed over or vague. I really don’t like reading about club whores and people fucking out in the open around, especially around others that may actually not like to see that. There are rooms to go to, ffs. And these aren’t just people that hope to eventually catch one of the bikers; they are actual prostitutes.
Which brings me to my breaking point: on their second date, Steel and Iggie have sex. Just two pages before, Iggie is drunk. The lube is “optional,” I guess, because of all the pre-come (uh huh, sure 👍🏼🙄), and there’s no condom or discussion of until after, which makes no sense, because right before they get it on, they’re talking about the whores and which of them Steel has been with!
Anyways, this one definitely wasn’t for me. Beyond just what I didn’t like of the story, I just felt zero connection to either MC, and the writing was becoming tedious to read.
