DOMINANCE, DESIRE, AND DANGER
The story is the second in the series by Ms. Shanna Handel. This series, Twisted Mafia Kings, takes place on an isolated island off Scotland. The majority of the residents are locals who have lived there for generations. Even law and order is handled by a small minority—but powerful men. Men rule families and expect their female members to be obedient. It is how it has been, and how they plan to continue.
Callum Burnes has wanted Fiona ever since she turned him down for a dance. Now, he has come to claim her and to let her father know that she is his payment.
“It’s simple. I’m demanding Fiona’s hand in marriage. In return, I’m offering you a dowry.” I tell him the lump sum of his debt to me. “To take her as my wife.”
What a mix of emotions when men show up and pack up Fiona’s items and load her up and take her away. She knows about the Hoax and fears that is what is going to happen to her. Then is brought to an estate and discovers that she is now in the Burnes home. She thinks she will clean the house and cook to pay off her father's debts. Callum gives her no choice, he tells her what he expects and that she will marry him.
The story is full of angst and issues between Callum and Fiona. She gets along well with Callum’s sister, Freya, but is fearful of Callum and his control. Their relationship is a roller-coaster ride of ups and downs. Fiona has always been the good girl, taking care of her father, and doing what is asked of her, and now she is facing a monster, who takes what he wants, and he wants her.
The story is a power exchange tale of dominance and submission, discipline and pleasure. It is two people, from two different worlds, changing each other. He opens up a world with pain and pleasure, and she teaches him patience. In the end, they discover that together, they are both better. Yes, the story does have the coveted happily ever after.

A captivating read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I am sure that others will love reading
This was a thoroughly enjoyable read that I loved every moment of, Shanna Handel has written the characters wonderfully and it has a wonderful male star Callum and female character Fiona that meet under unexpected circumstances but I guarantee that you’ll love reading all about this book.
Callum had seen Fiona when she had been at a dance and it was impossible not to watch her, she had refused to dance for him and this had not been something he was used to no one told him no!
Fiona had become his bride and the interactions between them had been stormy and still they have had a volatile relationship but this has made them stronger and they have become lovers in every sense and I enjoyed reading this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Once I started the book I couldn’t put it down.
The beginning had me hooked and wanting to know about Fiona’s life and her experiences.
Fiona is sweet and naive. She’s innocent and unassuming. That is usually not my type of heroine.
But that was her nature and it fit her and the author made it work.
Callum is a natural born leader. He’s big and strong. Dominant and in control.
He and Fiona are absolutely polar opposites.
I would have thought an alpha male would want a tough woman by his side.
But with Callum and his personality that would not have worked.
So I loved Fiona for him and visa versa. They each compliment one another perfectly.
While I could feel their chemistry and things are sizzling hot with them.
Theirs is not an easy relationship. Filled with ups and downs and struggles.
I also enjoyed the drama and suspense weaved into their story as well.
Enjoyed reading Captive Bride very much and loved the characters.

If you ever needed a lesson on how NOT to impress your beloved, follow Callum’s playbook. He literally has the girl of his dreams, Fiona, kidnapped and moved to his castle-like home. Talk about a lack of consent, and a possible trigger for some readers! But fear not, despite this monstrous start a beautiful romance develops. The story keeps you totally engrossed, not just with its ups and downs and twists and turns, but also with some humorous situations, some very sexy interplay and a few honey bee sweet moments that will make your heart soar. Callum is a controlling, demanding man who never stops to consider how others would interpret or react to his dominant ways, but Fiona is his polar opposite who, with the help of his sister Freya, literally brings him to his knees. They do say that opposites attract. A true spanking romance with lots of hot action and sizzling scenes.

Likes and dislikes
I like the plot and the storyline the writing was good and the story Drew you in. What I didn't like how the MMC treated her when he kidnapped her. He knew she was a virgin yet he spanks her bare bottom and probes her with his hands. He forces her to take her clothes off then Vlogs her with the whip. Every time she crossed her eyes she got some kind of punishment Kane built whatever. I don't mind spanking but I just like beating a woman. Also I disliked her response it was so unrealistic she was supposed to be a very innocent virgin yet she responded to being molested at Force. There was no build up to this interaction no seduction her response was so unrealistic I don't think most women would want to be forced into intimate Acts when they just met someone. A little reality could make such a difference in the story. This is why I didn't give it a four but I would recommend it it's a good read.

It begins with Fiona's father getting into some gambling debts and Callum kidnapping her as collateral to what he owes... though Fiona isn't thrilled with the situation, she goes and tries to make the most of it.
But Callum is a monster. He's rough. He's bossy. He's mean. And he wants her to plan his wedding. Their wedding. She refuses but he works with it anyways.
Can Fiona bring this big bad a-- to his knees? Can he see that his ways are a little too much for her and if he wants to keep her that he will need to do some reevaluating?
I enjoyed the sister aspect here and having Freya around to keep things balanced.. or not.

This is the story of Callum and Fiona. Fiona denied Callum a dance and he decided that she would be his wife! Fiona’s Dad had a wee drinking problem and gambling debt. Callum decides he would use this to his advantage to kidnap Fiona to pay for the debt that he was owed. Fiona, who is always sweet and polite, has no intention of marrying him. Will Callum change his ways and convince her that he’s not a monster? With the help of his sister, Freya, he may just have a chance. The book is set in Glasgow, Scotland, and you will feel like you are there with the turn of every page! This book has it all, romance, suspense, danger, and a HEA. I highly recommend it!

I loved how the author crafted these characters. I immediately felt a connection to her character with the descriptive dialogue and thought provoking emotions displayed when she realized her situation. His character showed an instant dominance and strong belief that his way was the correct way even as I laughed at his audacity and secretly loved his dominance at the same time. I loved how their relationship evolved. I found humor in how the rest of the characters responded to her initially. An engaging read that was delightful from start to finish.

August 29, 2024I am enjoying this new series, The Twisted Mafia Kings. This is Callum's story. He has always wanted Fiona, but I think it was more because she kept turning him down than he really wanted her. But what he wants, he gets, right? Well, sort of. He takes her and brings her to his castle; he enlists his sister Freya's help to bring her around. But he doesn't have Fiona because he wants her consent. For that, Callum has to work hard. I enjoyed the bantering between them and the discipline scenes were hot! I especially enjoyed the HEA. I'm looking forward to the next book featuring Freya.

I think this is my new favorite of Shanna's! I love a main male character who knows what he wants. Even if the leading lady is not for it at first! This isn't a typical enemies to lovers because Fiona didn't really know much of Callum to begin with. However, Callum saw Fiona at a dance, where she declined to dance with him. Since that moment he knew she would be his bride. I love the struggle. The fight to love. And I love the spice!

This is a great story, the plot's strong, it's got a lot of different emotions, it was well written, Shanna Handel did a great job on it. Callum and Fiona, let me tell you, their journey wasn't an easy one, they had their bumps and road blocks but that didn't stop that intense strong connection that drew them together, their chemistry was off the charts, they were made for each other.
I enjoyed the story, I'd suggest reading it, it's great.

Oh I loved Callum and Fiona so much they were so interesting her so sweet and growing a backbone and so innocent showing her Monster life can be amazing.
Even through secrets and doubts these two had such a connection along with such delicious steamy scenes.
I loved the writing and Freya was amazing her attitude and how close she was to her brother was such a great add to the story. Amazing!!!

Fiona lives a quiet, almost sheltered life taking care of her dad. Everyone knows what Callum wants Callum gets, and he wants Fiona. He’s broody and dominating and isn’t above doing whatever it takes to make Fiona his. Their story was exciting, as they got to know one another. Their banter and chemistry was good. I always love it when brooding mafia man is brought to his knees by the women he can’t get enough of. I’m excited to see where this series will go.

Watching these two dance around each other was great to see. Both are strong characters but will Callum be able to make Fiona really fall for him or is this all just a game to get back at her? Loved his sister. Ms. Handel's stories are wonderful and ones that you are able to "sink" into.

I really enjoyed this addition to the series. I was happy to read more about Fiona and Callum and to see them get their own story. Fiona is very sweet and docile but also isn't willing to settle for anything less than love. This throws a wrench in Callum's plan, especially when he realizes that he loves her even more than he thought was possible. This book is well written with characters you can feel. It's steamy and dark with a side of sweet and soft. The perfect mix.

Wow oh wow I loved this book! It captures you from the very first chapter and you stay hooked until the very end! We all need a good Scottish man to take control and protect us. What more could you ask for. The characters make you feel for them.

This was, as expected, another fantastic book by the wonderful Shanna Handel. Fiona initially told Callum "no", and that pretty much sealed her fate ;) There were plenty of ups and downs for them, but what can you expect when strong headed woman meets intense mafia man. I could not put this book down at all, and I (as always) can't wait for what comes next!

I think this couple's love language was arguing and punishments. They both seemed to provoke them and enjoy them immensely. I liked that Fiona wanted communication and asked for honesty and no secrets. Callum's sister was a joy. She helped Fiona to transition to her new life and helped Callum understand Fiona and her needs. A very heated captivating story.

I loved this well written and emotional roller-coaster. All the characters are very well done and alive. I loved Fiona. She is a good girl with a heart of gold and a steel spine. Callum has no problem running his mafia and is brought up short when it comes to her. She teaches him much more than he teaches her. I loved all their interactions. I also loved Freya. This story is full of lots of adventure, hot sexy scenes and threats. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving an honest review. The reader will need to find a quiet place as they will not want to put down this book until it is finished.

Callum is 🔥 his need and desire for Fiona is palpable. He takes no prisoners when it comes to getting his woman. Fiona is such a beautiful soul and together they are utter perfection.
