When a local meadow is turned into a bee-friendly allotment, will romance also blossom? New teacher Ceri has enough on her plate trying to keep her class in line and get them excited for her Foxmore wildlife efforts. Then she meets the mysterious – and occasionally grumpy – Damon, whose orchard she’d like to explore.
Rock star Damon has moved to Foxmore to escape the hounding paparazzi following the tragic death of his bandmate. Relocating to somewhere quiet and isolated is just what he needs to recover. Ceri is a ray of sunshine, but he’s not ready to share his dark secrets with her.
As love blooms, will Damon’s hidden past get in the way of their happiness? And can he bring himself to give up his music for love?
Lilac lives on a Welsh hillside with her very patient husband and incredibly sweet dog, where she grows veggies (if the slugs don't get them), bakes (badly) and loves making things out of glitter and glue (a mess, usually).
She's been an avid reader ever since she got her hands on a copy of Noddy Goes to Toytown when she was five, and she once tried to read everything in her local library starting with A and working her way through the alphabet.
She loves long, hot summer days in the garden, and cold winter ones snuggled in front of the fire, but whatever the weather she's usually writing, or thinking about writing, with heartwarming romance and happy-ever-afters always on her mind.
Lilac Mills writes love that blossoms. In The Allotment on Willow Tree Lane, the third standalone book in the Foxmore Village series, she starts with two seeds in need of a little care. Ceri has recently taken up a post as a horticulture teacher, though her lack of confidence has her fretting about that along with every other choice in her life. Damon, a rock star, has moved back into his grandmother's home in an attempt to escape the paparazzi and noise after the sudden passing of his bandmate. Mills approaches these early scenes, laying out the events that have brought them both to Foxmore, with such a quiet intensity that I was gripped from the first pages.
However, Mills, writing with a steady pace that never veers into rushing, doesn't make us wait long for this pair to meet. When Ceri, attending a nearby wedding, stumbles into Damon's garden, she simply assumes he's a guest and the two eventually share a kiss. It's a genuinely sweet setup and, while such an early moment of physical affection might suck the romantic tension out of other books, Mills is careful to find plenty of ways to keep their romance from resolving too early.
And that's where things get thorny. Ceri has a burst of inspiration to revive the village's community garden, but doing so requires the cooperation of Damon, whose house would abut the parcel of land. It's an entirely satisfying reason for their two worlds to become entangled after their one evening under the stars, and Mills wrings these moments for everything their worth. While Ceri runs full steam ahead with her plans, Damon almost has a complete personality change, becoming the brooding, grumpy musician who's ready to say no for the sake of privacy. While their obvious physical attraction remains, the clash of personalities have both of them feeling hotter than a greenhouse, and Mills tangles them together beautifully.
While these moments are more than entertaining on their own, Mills does manage to dig deeper still. Her vivid descriptions of the area gardens and the gradual evolution of the allotment itself are downright lovely. However, it's the parallels she draws between the growth of Ceri, Damon, their relationship, the gardens, and the community as a whole that ultimately makes The Allotment on Willow Tree Lane shine. As Ceri and Damon grow closer, they also foster the growth of a special place, and everyone in the absolutely charmingly written village of Foxmore are left better for it. That's a sentiment I can always get behind.
For a swoony, heartfelt romance that revels in everyone getting the chance to bloom, they don't come any better than The Allotment on Willow Tree Lane.
Note: I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher.

I'm loving this series and this book is no exception. Wonderfully written characters that draw you and make you feel like you are visiting old friends rather than just reading another sweet story in a book. A quaint town that I would love to be able to visit in real life, if only it really existed! Interactions between friends, family, neighbors and businesses that draw you in and make you care. I could seriously see this series becoming a series of movies on the Hallmark Channel so if you love a sweet romance with a bit of angst then this book is perfect for you. I do recommend that you read the series in order as you'll build a better foundation for the town and the backstory of the characters will be better fleshed out for you, plus hours of entertaining reading! In this particular installment to the series, you have two people who have come to a crossroads in their future and are struggling with making the decision of how best to continue moving forward. As they keep bumping into each other a sweet romance pops up between them, but can the romance survive if there is a lack of honesty and trust? You might get a bit teary while reading, but overall, it is a joyful read that leads to a happily ever after that will make your heart swoon!
After finishing The Christmas Fayre on Holly Field at the end of 2023 I have been so so excited to finish this series and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book as soon as it was released, as per usual when it comes to Lilac’s books I was no disappointed at all. I really enjoyed this whole story start to finish, it has a beautiful pace & flowed so well as well as mixing both of those elements with a wonderful set of characters both new & existing really created a wonderful atmosphere to end this series in 🪴
After getting a glimpse of Ceri in The Corner shop on Foxmore Green I was so happy to see that she would be one of our leads in this book; her personality is so infectious in the best way, she’s bubbly, funny, hard working & so optimistic. I also absolutely loved how passionate she is about gardening and horticulture I can almost imagine her whole face lighting up as soon as she discusses her plants or teacher her classes it really warms my heart 🥰
I found the progression of the relationship between Damon & Ceri so natural and I really loved that especially considering they started as complete strangers who thought they would only see each other during their first brief interaction it really added a level of intimacy to their interaction and it really reminded me of a movie moment it was so sweet! Overall, as always with Lilac’s books I loved it. Everything worked so well and I loved how everything flowed & just worked together so naturally and while I am sad that the Foxmore series has come to a close I am so happy that Ceri’s story was the final instalment it truly was the picture perfect story! Foxmore will always have a special place in my heart 💓
Totally loved this book! I loved Ceri and Damon, and seeing how their relationship developed. I knew it would end with some sort of heartbreak that they'd end up overcoming, but when it did happen, it felt rushed. It was frustrating me that all the issues would've been preventable if not for the major lack of communication. And in regards to Sadie, although in Damon's POV described as 'basically his little sister', I still felt there was a weird vibe between them, and that definitely contributed to the problem in the end of the book.
Every time Aiden was mentioned, I wanted to cry. It was such a key plot point, and such a good one, too. I thought the way his death affected the characters was really cleverly written.
It took a hot minute for me to get into the book, but once I got to about 50% through, I couldn't put it down. I really, really enjoyed this book, and if you're looking for a cute summer read, I'd highly recommend that you try this one!
I loved every page. Ceri has taken on a new job teaching horticulture to teenagers. You can just feel her apprehension taking on this career change. I loved the way she planned to engage them and the way that she envisions the allotments her nan used to oversee, coming back to life and keeping the village busy. She meets Damon fleetingly at a wedding and is bewildered by his changeable personality, He's facing demons of his own and doesn't let her know that he is a chart topping musician. There is a real sense of community and curiosity. You feel a part of the village, willing them to get the allotment up and running and wondering where the next instalment of this lovely series will take us
And just like that we are back in Foxmore. I love this place, its such a idyllic village. Not only are we back in Foxmore but we also have an allotment, something I've wanted for such a long time.
Lilac Mills' writing is easy to read and she writes stories that you can easily picture yourself in. Loved catching up with characters from the previous Foxmore book I read and looking forward to paying another visit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A read parked full of fun and spark. The book is full of great characters - old and new that weave a wonderful story. This book is easy to read, romantic and engaging. It’s great to be back in Foxmore and this book can easily be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading them all.
This started off quite sad but, quickly turned into a sweet story. I had my doubts at first but eventually throughly enjoyed it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed "The Allotment on Willow Tree Lane" by Lilac Mills. It proved to be an engaging and delightful read. The narrative flowed effortlessly, making it a pleasant and undemanding experience. This delightful novel proved to be a captivating and enjoyable addition to the Foxmore series. Mills, known for concluding her series after three books, potentially marks this as the end, which is bittersweet for fans like myself who have come to adore the enchanting world she has crafted. The book's narrative unfolds seamlessly, making it an effortlessly engaging and light-hearted read. The familiarity of characters from the initial book, experiencing their happily ever after, added a nostalgic touch, creating a sense of continuity within the series. Simultaneously, the introduction of Hew's sister, Ceri, injected fresh energy into the storyline, expanding the scope of the Foxmore universe. A notable highlight of the novel is the commendable development of Damon's character. The depth and authenticity brought to his journey throughout the story added a layer of complexity that transcended the typical romantic narrative. It's a testament to Mills' skill in crafting characters that resonate with readers on a profound level. In summary, this is more than just a heartwarming read; it's a testament to Lilac Mills' storytelling prowess. With its charming narrative, well-developed characters, and a perfect blend of familiarity and novelty, this book is a delightful conclusion (or hopefully a pause) to the Foxmore series. Lilac Mills continues to deliver an enchanting literary experience for those seeking an immersive and uplifting escape.
This was a really cute romantic novel that I actually enjoyed reading and an unexpected romance between a rockstar and a teacher.
Damon is a rockstar of a popular band. When one of his bandmates died in a car accident in Berlin, Damon, wanted to get away from the hounding press and moved to Foxmore for some quiet time. He meets Ceri, who is a teacher who is struggling to keep the class in line. A romance blossoms develops Ceri and Damon and it is the story after that.
I always enjoyed reading Lilac Mills' stories as it kind of gives a burst of sunshine. This book is no exception. Damon and Ceri seemed to have chemistry between them which made them fall in love with each other. The way Ceri helps Damon with weeding his grandmother's garden and how slowly they started falling in love was too cute. The scenic countryside descriptions was beautifully descriptive and makes the reader feel like they are actually in the countryside with Damon and Ceri. Overall I actually enjoyed reading this romance novel and worth four stars.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
4.5🌟stars An eminently enjoyable, sweet romance that kept me thoroughly engaged, especially since I was wondering just when the shoe would drop and Damon's big secret about his rock star profession would be revealed to the budding horticulture teacher who he becomes entranced by at first sight.
I fell into this series because I was familiar with author Lilac Mills' work and her delightful way of making village characters come alive. I was in no way disappointed by either the character development here or the plot (oh, what a crop of garden-themed expressions this story lends itself to😏). And such lovely descriptions of nature as Ceri casts her gaze about and gets stuck in to beautify and organize gardening projects around the village.
The bits of grief and sadness lend a nice contrast to the developing romance and the lovely community spirit shines through in this easy escape to village life in rural Wales.
Thanks to Canelo and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion. .
Was lovely to be back in Foxmore, with this third book in this delightful series.
And it really was a charming story, featuring Ceri who has just moved to Foxmore to be closer to her brother Huw, and is starting a new job that she isn't sure she is suited too, while also agreeing to resurrect the Foxmore Allotments.
She is a keen horticulturist and we learn a lot about plants over the course of this book.
Meanwhile Damon has returned to Foxmore and is trying his hardest to keep a low profile. But he meets Ceri almost instantly and their paths keep crossing until the attraction between them is too hard to ignore.
The opening chapter is particularly memorable as it is swapping between a funeral and a wedding, but its a good way to introduce us to both of our main characters.
This was a really enjoyable story, in a familiar setting, and even had me shocked at various points of it. I was keen to see what would happen, and was definitely entertained as I turned the pages.
A great for now at least ending to this series.
Thank you to Canelo and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This was a very sweet romance l fell in love with. I received this book as an ARC and l absolutely loved it 100%. If you are looking for a sweet, uplifting rural romance, you will definitely love this read. This read is book three of the Foxmore Village. Prior to this book, l read the other two and let me tell you the author does not disappoint. I loved the two books before this one, and l loved this one just as much if not more. Who doesn't love a grump x sunshine trope ( definitely not me!!). Damon is part of band and unfortunately his band-mate dies which causes him to relocate in-search for peace and quietness to recover from such a loss were as Ceri is a new teacher who is trying to get by. I love Ceri so much, in many ways l felt like l could relate to her. She was bubbly, sweet, beautiful and just a ray of sunshine. This was a beautifully written romantic story that had some bittersweet moments. I was engrossed in this page turner very much . I highly recommend this book and the whole series.❤️❤️
A lighthearted and upbeat tale that may be read any day or is ideal for keeping you amused during tea breaks from tedious gardening chores. If you enjoy gardening, you'll find the account of Ceri's allotment plans and garden descriptions to be really calming. The passages about gardening and allotments prompted me to get some work done in mine, which I consider a plus for the book. I enjoyed reading about Ceri and Aiden's gardening passion and how they pursued it.
While I enjoyed the gardening portion of the story, I wasn't as taken with their love story. What irritates me is how they handled their emotions and all that drama ensued. It's boring and uninteresting since it's a scenario I read about all the time in fiction. There was a lot going on in Aiden's life, but I never warmed up to him or felt anything for him. Ceri, on the other hand, is fun, endearing and is at the core of the plot. Did I mention the ending also seemed a little abrupt?, unless there is more to look forward to.
I’ve read the previous book in this series so I was so excited to read the third instalment and the first book is on my list to read soon
Damon & Ceri have both recently moved to Foxmore, Damon back to the house his Gran left him to recover from a devastating loss in private and Ceri to her lovely cottage for fresh start working at a local college teaching horticulture.
When they both meet by chance one evening I couldn’t believe what I was reading it was just so magical and heartfelt.
They’re the perfect match after bonding over the shared love of gardening and sparks soon fly but Damon is holding a huge secret back that could destroy anything when it gets revealed.
I couldn’t get enough of this story, the writing is sublime and you’ll want to read it all in one sitting.
The mix of real life heartache and ups and downs combined with a breathtaking romance will steal your heart, it did mine.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion. I loved the first 2 books in this series and it's great to revisit Foxmore village and the recurring characters. We met Ceri during book 1 so I was pleased she was getting her own romance. As always this author's novels are filled with beautiful descriptions; in this book readers can almost see the colours and smell the scents of the flowers. I like the comical moments that come from real life too - 'little pitchers have big ears' is a well-known truth, and a new teacher is well-advised to start with something surprising to engage a class from the start, and Ceri certainly managed that! The romance includes some surprising twists, even right to the end. This clever tale has left me wanting more visits to this imaginary (but based in truth) part of Wales.
It finally dawned on me, after reading at least a dozen books by Lilac Mills, what I like about her books: the characters being average people. Not billionaires, not wedding or event planners (oh, the cringeworthy cliché of all of those), but people you could meet in the street.
All of these characters put together with kindness and care, being a scaredy-cat myself, I do understand the self-doubt that Ceri is struggling with. How that can be there in the background for quite a long time. The fact that things are not always black and white, like the annoying student still doing a pretty good job with an assignment.
And of course it was nice seeing Mrs. Moxley again, being her honest and straightforward self. Perhaps she might be the next main character in the Foxmore series?
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
A very sweet story .Ceri is an horticulturist who just want to create her nursery but for now she is teaching in college at Foxmore . At her brother's wedding she meets a handsome guy and they share few passionate kisses . Few days later she meet him at the graveyard and finally discover that he is the owner of the orchard she want to use . Damon is a rockstar and came to stay at his grandma house after the death of one of his bandmate so he can escape the paparazzi and the chaos . The garden that his grandma loved so much is in very bad condition so he asks from Ceri her help . Will she be able to fix his garden and win his heart ? I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
I have never read a book by Lilac Mills before so was unsure what to expect but I absolutely loved it and was engrossed after the first few pages.
This book is part of The Foxmore Village series but can easily be read as a standalone.
The characters were brilliant with my favourite being Mrs Moxley and Damon. The setting was beautiful and I really felt like I was there with Ceri in Damons beautiful garden.
A beautiful romantic story in a stunning setting with some bittersweet moments. A definite five star read.
Thanks to Netgalley, Canelo and Lilac Mills for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
The Allotment on Willow Tree Lane by Lilac Mills brings the reader back to the quaint Foxmore village. It does us a good turn just as it does new teacher Ceri Morgan and rockstar, Damon Rogers. A story of new beginnings, remembering the past, unknown identities, loss, and recovery. Of course, there is romance too.
Easy to read with characters even easier to like. This is a ray of hope kind of story on a raining day. You just know that when the storm is over the sun will shine again.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Best to make some time when sitting down with this one as you won’t want to leave it! The author develops not just the characters but the scenes around them so well. You will feel as though you are there, watching the characters as you journey with them through this story. As the story progresses, you will find yourself feeling so submerged that the characters become more like you friends than characters in a book, you won’t want to put it down and wonder what they get up to without. I’m not going to give anything away as you just need to read this to enjoy a lovely, feel good story, set in beautiful surroundings with wonderful characters.
I checked this out from my local library when I was in the mood for a cosy feel-good read. It was absolutely lovely. I picked it up without looking at the blurb, and I didn't realise it was actually part of the Foxmore series. That was a little surprise for me, because I loved The Corner Shop on Foxmore Green. I was happy to see the return of some of the same characters, although on this occasion, the storyline focuses on different characters. If you enjoyed The Corner Shop on Foxmore Green, you'll probably like this too. It was heartwarming and satisfying.
Lovely read once again from Lilac. Does such a fab job of making the sense of place vivid and inviting. Loved the setting and characters, especially the scene at the beginning with dancing in the field. Just delightful. A little spicier than some of her others but still fits in the clean and wholesome category.
This is a very cute, closed door romance. He’s a rockstar who just lost his best friend/bandmate and she’s a horticulturist starting a new job teaching. They both end up in the same small town, and end up working on his very overgrown garden together. It was a cute read but did have a 3rd act break up which is never fun.
Enjoyed this one. The story was cute and not too slow. But the silly fights and baseless accusations between the main characters were juvenile, not the kind of things I expected from adults. People need to communicate better in these types of books.
I like Lilac Mills' stories and this is a good one. I was fascinated by the bee-friendly allotment and the likeable characters Recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I love anything written by Lilac Mills but this was one of my faves. Having an allotment myself I warmed to the title straight away. Characters were great, the book was very descriptive, I would highly recommend to all. Thank you for the opportunity to read this fab romance novel.
