TWO BANDMATES
ONE SECRET RELATIONSHIP
EVERYTHING AT STAKE

Five years ago, the global sensation boy band Boys Will Be Bovs broke up in a disastrous fashion while at the height of their fame. Now, Skyler James’ solo career has made him more successful than ever, but he still feels like something is missing. Because remember all those rumors back then about him and his bandmate Trevor Blue? They weren’t just rumors. And he lost a lot more than the band when they all split up—he lost Trevor too.

Meanwhile, thanks to the flop of his first and only solo album, Trevor has managed to fade into relative obscurity. But when Skyler shocks the world by coming out as gay, he inadvertently drags Trevor back into the spotlight, and Trevor’s not happy about it. Until he reconnects with Skyler and realizes that he was meant for so much more than the quiet, lonely life he’s been living. All the passion he had for music when he was younger is still inside of him—and so is all the love he had for Skyler. But will the pressure of the outside world tear them apart again?

HEARTBREAK HONEY, a dual POV & dual timeline MM second chance romance, is the story of two young men who learn that fighting for love isn't always enough—and that sometimes you don't need to fight at all. Sometimes it comes as easy as remembering the words to your favorite song.

3.5 stars for Sky

I wanted and expected to LOVE this but honestly, it mostly agitated me... well, Trevor did. He was so infuriating and to then begin a relationship, make a baby with &marry the girl he essentially told Sky not to worry about, I don't give a sh*t that it didn't last, he was an ass. I adored Skyler, all the stars are for him 🌟

Oh my goodness y'all, this book was SO FREAKING SWEET. Heartbreak Honey is a second chance rockstar romance told along two timelines, one in the past and one in the present. Imagine your favorite boy band, and then imagine that two of the members are carrying on a secret affair with each other for YEARS. Skyler and Trevor have incredibly restrictive contracts to the point where their management can get them to do just about anything, so their incredibly loving relationship becomes forbidden and something they have to hide. Serious soulmates/it's always been you vibes and I am HERE FOR IT.

The dual timeline means that the story follows them both falling for each other and slowly falling apart in the past while at the same time they are reconnecting with each other and learning to trust their feelings in the present. I completely fell for sweet golden retriever Skyler who DESPERATELY wants to come out with Trevor so they can be together in public. Trevor certainly goes through some stuff, and I'm glad he comes around in the end, but I needed him to get over his hang-ups and choose Skyler.

This is Tammy Subia's debut novel, and I am SO impressed. The writing is incredible, and the complicated storyline is really well done, really sent me on an emotional roller coaster! Bravo to her, and I cannot wait for everyone to read this book!

3.5 stars. Very sweet and at times cheesy. I didn’t love it, but I liked it. The dual timeline was great, but this book was way too long. The MCs were soul mate vibes and loved the coordinating tattoos. But wanted to seriously throttle them both at times 😂

HOLY BOY BAND!!! I am absolutely obsessed with this debut from Tammy Subia, it has so many adorable moments, but also such an intense and thoughtful storyline spread out over dual timelines and let me tell you, it’s done SO WELL. Skylar James and Trevor Blue were such real characters to me, I was rooting for them every step of the way. You get to follow them as they rise to fame in the band and 5 years after the band has broken up and damn its cute as hell (but also, it hurts 🥹) Their relationship transitions between friends to lovers to heartbreak to soulmates and being on the journey with them is so special, I was a little girl kicking her feet and twirling her hair reading this. Trust me friends - if you LOVE popstar boybands, two boys growing into men and finding love along the way and a book that is as equally sweet as it is heartbreaking, then this one is perfect for you.

I will start this review by saying I was hesitant to pick up a musician/rockstar/popstar romance. I have not loved many that I have picked up in the past. But boy band bandmates in a secret relationship with the second chance trope?! I had to give it a go. And I'm so glad I did.

I will also preface this by saying I have never been a Larry (1D) girly but this gave even my uninformed self major fanfic vibes but in a great way - hey there are some AMAZINGLY written fanfic out there so no shame. And even as a non Larry stan I still ate this up.

We get dual timelines of Skyler & Travis’ relationship. There is the “Then” when the band first forms and these two begin a really sweet relationship (and watch as the years and fame wear them down). And there is the “Now” which happens years after the band’s implosion and their breakup where these two are navigating reconnecting. Dual timelines can be tricky for me. I’m usually either itching to get back to one timeline or left in an emotional state of nooooo when the timeline jumps again. But Tammy did a really great job at having each timeline jump end at a satisfying place and I was equally invested in the Then and the Now.

I loved these two together. And while they were not perfect, and both had their flaws they had a really great relationship built on trust, communication and soul-deep love. They had to navigate really hard situations and do so at such a young age where their emotional maturity was still developing. I never once questioned their love and devotion and I really loved that.

This was a bit OTT of course, and maybe a touch too long. But I was absolutely captivated the entire time.

It was also a really interesting to look at the way the music industry at that time period absolutely deteriorated so many artists’ mental health. It ate away at both of them individually (and each of their bandmates) as well as absolutely ravaged their relationship. It was heartbreaking.

And of course watching these two reconnect was so so lovely. They had so many soft and tender domestic moments that I was living for.

This was a strong debut by Tammy Subia and I absolutely cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

Skyler James and Trevor Blue have a lot of history. They met as teenagers when they tried out for the same boyband. All the rumors of them together back then, weren't just rumors, but when the band split up, they both lost each other. Now, five years later, Skyler has come out to the world, and thrust them both back into the spotlight. Trevor is now faced with the prospect of seeing his former flame again, or maybe getting out of the obscurity he faded into. Would reconnecting with Skyler really be that bad? Maybe. But maybe they'll both find out the love they have for each other is still there, and that it never left in the first place.

When everyone told me to read this, I put it on my TBR and eventually I would get to it. Fast forward a few months, and Liam Payne from One Direction passes away. It really devastated me as a One Direction girlie. I figured now was the time to fall back into One Direction, listening to them again, and just getting back to that part of me, and suddenly, it was time to read Heartbreak Honey. I'm really glad I did. It's no secret that the book took a ton of inspiration from Harry and Louis from One Direction, but it did so in a way that was so... well done. I was truly blown away.

I don't really know where to start, because I had such a visceral reaction to this book. I loved it. Trevor and Skyler both loved each other so much, and hurt each other so much. It was truly a picture of what happens when you're young and in love and confused, with the added pressure of being a massively successful band. The way Tammy Subia writes is absolutely beautiful. This book made me feel things the entire time I was reading it, and I will hold it so close to my heart. I need more people to read this book, and feel the truly intense emotions it pulls out of you. Not to mention, this is the first book that ever made me cry during a sex scene. I could literally go on and on. As a One Direction girlie, this book hit me HARD. It's just so beautifully done.

"You may have lost me once, but not everything that’s lost is gone forever. Sometimes lost things can be found again.”

Heartbreak Honey follows bandmates Trevor Blue and Skyler James throughout the years, as they fall in love, fall apart, and find their way back to each other again. It's a story that will make you feel all the feels, and it had me glued from start to finish.

The story is told in dual timelines, showing a stark contrast between the 'before' and 'after' of their breakup. This constant juxtaposition really heightened the emotional impact for me - as I could really feel how much both the characters had lost, and see how beautiful their love was in the past while everything was so strained in the present. And just when things start looking up in the present day, you're hit with the heartbreak of the past, and Tammy serves the emotional destruction again.

Trevor and Skyler are such a cute couple, and I was rooting for them all the way through. Skyler is a precious baby, and I just want to snuggle him in his jazzy jammies and keep him safe from the world. I feel like he and Trevor complimented each other well, although Trevor did frustrate me a lot in this book.

I would have liked to see Trevor's character arc be resolved a bit earlier on in the story, as opposed to the last page of the epilogue. It would have felt like a more a satisfying ending for me personally if we got to see more of a HEA, especially after the long journey they both went on to get there.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I thought Tammy's writing was excellent. If you want a story that's heavy on the pining, but also overflowing with cuteness and nostalgic boyband vibes, then you'll enjoy this.

I loved loved loved this book. Both MCs were so well written- fully fleshed out with truly distinct voices. Their character and relationship development throughout the 10 years was a joy to read. I especially appreciated that neither was solely to blame for their earlier break up. I could easily empathize with both of them, could see how they each contributed both positively and negatively, while hurting for them due to the nearly impossible situation they were forced to navigate. It was beautiful to see how they grew into their new roles of being both caretaker and caretakee- protecting and being protected. Just the sweetest couple I'll be thinking about for a long time to come.

Rockstar romances will NEVER get old to me 🎤 And this one was no exception 🥰

Heart strings: TUGGED. The music industry can be ruthless…and this book showcases the hardships new, young musicians have to deal with. These boys were forced to hide their relationships, and sexuality altogether, which causes so much rift in not only their lives, but their bandmates lives as well. So as you can imagine, the tea is served piping HAWT in this one! And ugh it makes me love them so much more! We are given a very clear picture of what both boys want, and how those goals simply don’t align with those pulling the strings on their careers. It makes me just wanna give these boys the biggest hug 🥺 I was instantly invested in these characters.

It’s also dual POV. Which, in a book full of trauma and character development, is seriously pure perfection! We get to see just how Skyler and Trevor roll with the punches when rising to stardom and the similarities/differences this venture has on them emotionally. It creates even FURTHER attachment to these boys 🥹 First loves are always such a roller coaster and the feelings are BIG! And to see that happening twice over is just enrapturing 🥹

Also, THE SONGS IN THIS BOOK?! Like the fact that Sumia just came up with these as part of the book and they made me love the romance so much more?! Sumia has a future in both writing AND lyricist 😁 It’s such a fun added flare to the book that adds so much depth to the storyline! You’re already so invested in these characters and then they start singing these heartwarming songs about each other 😍 I just loved this part of the book so much!

Gahhh I’m so excited to see what else Sumia drops because the fact that this is a debut is just AMAZING 👏🏼

Is this book extremely thinly veiled Larry Stylinson fanfic? 1000%. Did I eat it up? 1000%. 4.5⭐️

I am a sucker for a second chance romance with a dual timeline and dual POV so this was really perfect for me. While I do think many irl Larry shippers are actually delusional, I turned my brain off (and also drank a whole bottle of wine) while reading this book and I had a great time. Skyler and Trevor were also just so cute.

That being said I also think it’s a great critique of the music industry and this era of 2010s boy band pop culture as well as a fun read that made me swoon and also cry at times. The parallels between this book and real life are uhhh quite prevalent, so if that’s something that might bother you or give you the ick then I’d avoid this tbh, but the writing is actually really good and I had a great time.

I also just love wildfire motifs in a book and that was a minor plotline in this and I was loving for it (save the planet pls).

Honestly my biggest complaint is that that bitch Maggie never got what was coming for her.

This was very long. Honestly, we could have cut 200 pages and it would still achieve the same. The last 10 chapters, I ended up jumping to the first page and then skipping when I realized nothing much had happened.

As for the contents: This is a rebranded Larry (One Direction) fan fiction. If you know anything about the fandom or have read just one fan fiction, this book is a repetition of the 'lore' surrounding the group and Harry/Louis from that time. As someone who reads fan fiction, I don't mind this, but I have personally read better portrayals of basically the same story.

The 'Now' parts were what interested me the most for this reason. I think the story would have benefit from being a 'Now' story with the occasional flashback and not this dual timeline. It did not paint the characters in a flattering light.

I have respect for the writing style of the author, and I think there was potential in the story.

This was obviously a nod to Harry Styles, One Direction, and perhaps the Harry-Louis speculation. Not in a bad way, just from someone who has gone down that rabbit hole - the comparisons were glaringly obvious.

This had a lot of potential and it started strong. The before and after approach to telling the story worked initially. We get to witness them develop into more as young, naive teenagers while also watching them reconnect as adults. It's like getting two stories in one. Teenage Skylar and Trevor were adorable. I wanted to wrap them in bubble wrap as they quickly began to experience all the negative aspects to being young and inexperienced in the music industry.

Unfortunately the pacing didn't work for me - and at times found myself bored or skimming. It does eventually pick back up, but it almost felt like all the important stuff was squeezed into the end.

I should also mention it's not written in 1st person - which I tend to struggle with. I find it hard to develop a connection with the characters (definitely a me thing).

Overall, I enjoyed specific scenes and I really loved Skylar but the rest was just ok for me.

This is a second chance romance, featuring Skyler James and Trevor Blue, and is book one in the Heartbreak Honey series.

Former boy band, and secret boyfriends, Skyler and Trevor are back in each other’s lives after Skyler publicly comes out, reigniting both the media frenzy and their unresolved feelings. As they face the pressures of fame and their painful past, they must decide if their love can survive a second chance.

Well, this book was worth the wait. It perfectly balances finding your first love, longing, emotional tension, and the messy glamour of fame. Watching Skyler and Trevor navigate their second chance, past heartbreaks, and the world wanting to know everything about them, made my heart both swoon and ache for them.

This one was equally sweet but oh so angsty, I was completely hooked and now I can’t wait for book two.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 1 in series
MM romance
Then and now
Second chance
Ex bandmates
Hurt / Comfort
Secret relationship
Oppressive management
Excessive drinking
Loss of a parent
Break up / Time apart
One MC comes out
Spicy times & dirty talk
First times
Marking & mild spanking
Angsty & sweet
Longing
Found family
HEA

Tammy Subia takes us on a ride of love and heartbreak, and the biggest second chance story I’ve read.

Oh, the many times I cried reading this. You know I’m not a big angst reader but when it’s done right, it’s so good.

Did I wanted to kick Trevor´s ass the further i went into the book? Absolutely. But the first part of the book let me know who he was and his reason for not wanting to come out, and that made him impossible to hate.

Skylar everything, I loved in a MC, outspoken and free, it was so sad to see him being repressed so much during parts of the book and I wanted that publicist to pay for everything she did to my boys.

It’s pretty easy to guess the boy band inspiration for this book and that made it more fun to read. It was cool going back and forth from the beginning of Skylar and Trevor in the past and the mending of their shattered hearts in the future.

The epilogue was the most amazing, sweetest thing in the world. It was hard earned but so worth it.

Amazing debut novel, BlueSkies forever.

Gosh this book was good. 😍

So much happening in the span of 5 years in the past and a couple of months/a year in the now.

17 and 19 yo Boyband members fall in love and the pressure destroys them and the band.

An interview of one of the members brings the former couple back into each others orbit. Can and do they want to make it work this time? Or will the public and the secret relationship destroy them again for good?

Sigh! Sometimes I wanted to strangle Trevor. The feeling when you find your person as a teenager and want to make it work but circumstances work against you. Hurts so much. The story was well written, the characters are believable. From being teenager to adults. I loved it. 🥰

Heartbreak Honey was a brilliant debut!

First, let me say that Skyler and Trevor’s love story was beautiful. It wasn’t easy by any means but there was never any doubt that those two were made for each other. The love they had for each other basically jumped off the pages. I enjoyed their unwavering support of each other and their banter was top tier. The only “complaint” I have is that I needed more of them living their best lives together. It’s my absolute favorite thing to see a couple just be happy and content.

Now, something I was a tad bit nervous about was the dual timeline but I think it was for sure pulled off. In the past, we got to see Trevor and Skyler fall for each when they became bandmates and see how the pressure of having to hide their relationship slowly broke them apart. In the present, we get to see them slowly start to reconnect and retake what they lost. It was a very emotional journey and I felt like I was in the story experiencing everything with them!

The writing was great, the story was captivating, and the characters were well developed. I can’t wait to see what Tammy Subia comes up with next but until then I recommend you go check out Heartbreak Honey!

I absolutely loved Trevor Blue and Skyler James. They meet while auditioning for a boy band, Boys Will be Boys and have an instant connection. There is a dual timeline which includes the time they were in the band and present day and it is done very well. Watching them go from friends to lovers when they met, while simultaneously seeing them rebuilding their relationship in the present. I was shipping Blue Skies hard the whole time! This book will definitely be on my re-read list❤️

This is a beautiful book!!

Let me start by saying—if you’ve ever been even remotely interested in the Harry Styles & Louis Tomlinson “Larry” conspiracy (is it even a conspiracy??), you will 1000% love this book. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, get yourself to Google and start researching “Larry / Larrie” or “Larry Stylinson.” Thank me (or hate me) later for the rabbit hole you fall into.
"Heartbreak Honey" is the story of Skyler and Trevor, members of a manufactured pop boy band who establish an immediate close bond that quickly turns into more. But, like all great boy bands, management and image make the rules. Despite being in love, they aren’t allowed to come out. The secrecy, the hiding, and pain of the fabricated cover ups for the sake of their public image end up breaking what they have.

Our story begins 5 years post breakup. This book is dual POV and shifts back and forth in time, which I thought was really well done. Everything in the past is revealed in due time while in the present day they find their way back to each other. If you aren’t clued into what this story is really inspired by (1D & Larry fiction), you might think it’s a little over the top, but listen—this is SOUL MATE LEVEL SHIT. Skyler & Trevor are like destined among the stars, two hearts one home, since we were 18…. ETC ETC ETC. So all the deep confessionals between the two men make sense!

This book is also long, but by the end, I really just wanted 100 more pages of “Blue Sky” (the MC’s ‘shipped name). I really, really, loved this book and how much heart it has. I found myself crying a few times during the last 30%, but for all the best reasons. I highlighted the shit out of it, and I look forward to many re-reads.

One evening I found myself on instagram chatting with Tammy Subia, and was very excited to learn that although she thought this would be a total stand alone, she’s considering some spinoffs, and maybe a novella with our boys again. I for one, cannot wait and also look forward to seeing what else she writes!

WOW WOW WOW.

What a debut novel! This book is exactly what the title describes, absolutely sweet and heartbreaking.

Don’t let the page count scare you, this story flies by! We have a time jump between the beginning and current day of the relationship between Skyler and Trevor. Two boys who met in a label manufactured boy band who through many trials, find each other again.

Y’all will LOVE this one ❤️

I’ve been excited about this book since I first came across a teaser on instagram, and it absolutely did not disappoint!

I loved Trevor and Skyler, and seeing their story unfold over two different timelines!

A few things I really enjoyed:
- second chance romance
- forbidden/secret relationship
-dual POV
- hard earned HEA (emotional damage along the way)

If you were a big fan of one particular boy band about 10-15 years ago, you should definitely read this. But if you weren’t, that is ok too! I admittedly was not, and still loved this story. Although I have done some googling since, and I feel like I may have missed out.

it was a 4 star read for me,why you're asking? Well don't cuz I don't fucking know.
I don't like to sugarcoat things so I'll just say what's on my mind ...the starting was good way too good ....but
Trevor is the most irritating person I I've read that guy doesn't know what he wants seriously.... He says I'll do anything for you but he never did... This book is over hyped bro ... But I loved Skyler.. It's not I didn't like the book I sure did but at the same time I didn't I was reading Trevor's pov almost always with a frown..the book was ridiculously long when it has no reason to, there was no heat no real fight nothing i mean there were fights it's a dual timeline so there were fights in the past but honestly? I never understood the reason why Trevor was fighting , what ever was his reasons ? it was obvious and right for Skyler to be angry cuz my boyfriend is dating someone else doesn't matter it's not real and only for publicity or whatever but duh! I'll be pissed offcourse so Skyler makes sense but Trevor? He claims to love him the most claiming he'll do anything but in reality can't even be there for the guy seriously I only have 2 words to describe Trevor PATHETIC & COWARD . And that's not the worst thing... that'll be when he finally did agreed to come out in the last chapter and nothing happened bro nothing fucking happened no public speeches nothing. For 10 years you loved someone but you were scared to come out 10 years in the closet you so you don't overnight decided to make such decisions it was...ehh am no longer sure what to say what not to. All I wanna say is Skyler was not at fault not even a little bit and about Trevor well he pissed me off alot ... again it's not like I totally didn't liked the book I did hence the 4 ⭐ it was just irritating and I just finished the book so am taking my frustration out here .. AT LAST THE BOOK WAS GOOD? I GUESS..? .( But it's overhyped no seriously)

I finished this book a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about Skyler & Trevor. I'm pretty particular about rockstar romance. I'm always hesitant going in. Everything about this story is beautifully written. I'm obsessed with these boys and I don't see that obsession ending anytime soon! Hoping to hear more about them in the future.

This is a pretty good debut.

I especially like how believable the kids are as kids: in particular, in the flashbacks to the beginning of Skyler and Trevor's relationship, they are predictably horny and stupid and anxious and silly and shameless and embarrassed and loney. The homesickness, the connection to family, and so many other bits feel very believable.

I also like how (in some cases) sex actually pushes the plot. (In some other cases, the plot isn't advanced, and actually there's a little bit where the characters' sexual roles Very Much Depend on the plot in ways that, to be blunt, feel like how straight people understand gay men having sex. I don't love that.)

I don't love the book's length; in particular, this is a 500-plus-page book with an entirely foregone conclusion on page 1, and even the inclusion of a flashback to the "before" when the characters started their initially doomed relationship doesn't help (we know they're going to break up explosively, and even roughly when). So it's a book about a breakup and its consequences, and about a reattempt at the relationship that will definitely succeed. I don't like this structure. We even know that they're going to come out (because they obviously will), and that the arrangement of the novel will force that to be at the very end of the book.

The other challenge is that the book has very few characters in the "now" part of the book. Because they're mostly hiding from fans / old friends / etc., it's just a very small chamber story about characters who are ... I mean, they're going to get back together, slowly, trepidatiously, but there's so little that happens. It feels like a play, almost: with individual events as "scenes".

And finally, I really wish this book didn't include music lyrics, because they're ... fine-to-not-that-great, but they're supposedly from genius songwriters. This is often a problem with romances about artists, but it's particularly bad for books about lyricists, because the form they work is accessible to general audience. This author made the choice to have there be plot connected to the content of the lyrics she had to write (as in, they affect the characters, so we "need" to see them); I think more experienced authors may sometimes choose not to do that just to avoid losing suspension of disbelief?

[Oh, and also: there's a a prostrate/prostate error in a sex scene, and a principal/principle error not in a sex scene. The former is perhaps more distracting.]
