Most romantasy series are hella confusing, but Shanora has proven once again that she will not be bound by others and what they think she can and can’t write. HOMEGIRL put her foot in this whole series and proved a huge point - that she is indeed a fantasy writer. Throw any sun genre at her, I dare you.
This series is my favorite work of hers to date and I just became immersed into this whole world she’s created. Willow & Caz reign supreme and can do no wrong imo. The fierce love they have for each other and the protection they show over one another makes me all gooey inside. I love fates mates & star crossed lovers - period and this “tethered souls” trope took all of that next level. This was an amazing ending to this series and I love that it’s three books. That’s a definite sweet spot for me and I felt there were no loose ends to tie up. Bravo, Shanora. Xo 😘
This was the perfect conclusion to the trilogy. I think the pacing was executed perfectly. The magic and world building really elevated this book above the other two. The found family 😩🫶🏾 I absolutely love Killian and Juniper as side character. These characters have been through so much throughout this series and grown from each challenge. Caz honestly is an incredible MMC who is so multi-layered but has such a kind heart. The battle was crazy and felt overpowered which I love. Then of course the ending was absolutely beautiful and had me tearing up.
It’s always a little bittersweet when a series you absolutely love comes to an end but it’s also comforting because the characters you’ve been on this journey with get their hard won happily ever afters. And Lethal Souls by Shanora is no different. While it’s sad that we have to say goodbye to Caz and Willow, we get to follow them on this last action filled fight for their lives and the lives of everyone in Vakeeli. While we get some tender moments between the two, this final book is heavily focused on this war that has been brewing instead of the romance and that made for a very fast paced read. There’s so much that happens from truths unveiled to scenes so gut punching that you can’t help but cry. I’m telling you I was a mess from the 88% mark all the way to the end. I was crying for so many different reasons and in the end I was just so exhausted from this rollercoaster of a finale.
No surprise I gave this 5⭐️ just like I did books one and two. I cannot recommend this trilogy enough if you like dark fantasy romance, fated mates vibes where they can talk to each other telepathically, gods known as Regals and their powers, and a slow burn with spice.
TW/CW: violence, a lot of murder, blood, war, some themes of grief/loss/guilt, a god eating people (shit is wild)
This is the last book in a trilogy, you must read Vicious Bonds/Wicked Ties first.
This was a great ending to Caz and Willow’s romance, as well as their quest to save Vakeeli! I love when pieces come together in a series, as it was gratifying when certain plot points/characters were revealed. Caz and Willow fought hard for their peace and happiness, and the ending was so fitting for them.
Definitely pick up this romantasy trilogy, it’s easy to follow, the world building was great, and each book kept me engaged!
Oh my word! What an ending to this amazing series. Shanora really put us through it with this one... The twists and turns I did not see coming!?! I've waited too long and was not disappointed LOL.. The world she created with Cas and Willow has been well worth the wait- fun, sexy, full of adventure, and heartbreaking all at the same time.
OMGGGG FIVE STARS give Shanora Williams her flowers bc that was unearthly 💐💐
this book me in my feelings all throughout, the twists were insane but the ending was so beautiful 🫶🏾
you know when you’re invested in a book when it is constantly on your mind and that’s what this did!! also the fact that every book was four/five star worthy?? def a good rec!! also a new fave read and new fan of all things shanora.
4.5⭐️ the battle scene in this was INSANE . The last 25% truly had me gagged . What a way to end the series 🥹 I’m going to miss these characters so much
3.5 ⭐️ This wasn’t my favorite of the series. A little more drawn out and the plot was a little too much at times. Some outcomes i was waiting for them to not be permanent (Iykyk). I love the conclusion for the most part. It’s wrapped up nicely.
Was bouncing between 3 and 2 stars but if I try think of the book as a standalone it was better than the 2nd book. Buckle up because I have a lot to say.
I honestly think a lot of my issues with this book and series lies in the lack of foundation set in the previous books. Reading this book solidified my opinion that the author didn’t know what would be in book 3 when writing books 1 and 2. I enjoyed the first book but it wasn’t perfect, I felt like it had a lot of potential and I was hoping it would improve along the way.
First and foremost I personally felt like there was way too much lore that we were only really getting into in the 3rd book that could’ve been better scattered in the second book so this one didn’t feel so heavy. Aside from the lore my biggest issue is the characters and the lack of development. It honestly feels like Caz is the only character I can for sure say I understand and is fully fleshed out. My biggest critique of the second book was how Willow was underdeveloped and while I think the author tried to make an effort in this book she is still a wasted character IMO. Another waste of a character is Warren, I don’t think we needed more time to get to know him in the present but atleast if we had some flashbacks in book 1 and 2 his loss would’ve felt more significant and it would’ve colored Willow in for us. As it stands Warren is a random character we meet and lose in what feels like the span of 10 chapters whose loss is supposed to be significant but falls flat due to how little we know him as a person. The author tells us Warren means a lot to Willow but never shows us.
Another issue I have is the world building. After reading all 3 books I feel like I only really understand Vakeeli about 40% of the time. The constant changing of travel times and modes made it feel like the author was just changing aspects of the world for the sake of the plot rather than sticking to the rules she lays out for us. I also think the theme of leadership and good versus bad leadership in Vakeeli was solely left to the scenes and moments that Caz had a direct role in rather than using side characters to create a fuller picture for us. Alora was a big character who I thought would be at the front of helping Caz be a better leader but I found her presence in this book severely lacking. The scene where Alora was telling Vanora about Selah and the impending war is a good example, rather than showing us that scene and using it as a moment to not only emphasizes but show us how much is on Caz’s shoulders and also show us and give us hope for the future of Vakeeli and the reason it’s worth saving, it’s a scene that happens off page. The war with Selah is supposed to be something that affects the entire of Vakeeli and be a huge turning point but it feels like it’s only affecting Blackwater and more specifically Caz’s clan based on the scenes we are given.
The last issue is one that somewhat feeds off of previous issues I’ve mentioned, the lack of development for side characters. When Rowan died I honestly felt nothing, we don’t know Rowan and he was barely present in this book. While I appreciate Killian not dying I also think it’s such a shame we get to know Killian and care about him yet he’s the only one who gets consistent growth. While we get stories from Juniper and Maeve’s past, they aren’t consistently nurtured as characters. While the war is having the biggest effect on Caz and Willow they aren’t the only ones affected and can’t be the only ones growing and changing as they learn and see more. Besides the first book we don’t get any backstory from Juniper but beyond that story we don’t get anymore insight into her character. Unfortunately this series felt like a lesson in lost potential.

From start to finish, I was hooked. It was the absolute perfect way to wrap up the series, even if it meant saying goodbye to Willow, Caz, and the rest of the characters. Willow and Caz are the epitome of "fated mates," and while their romance wasn't the main focus of this particular book, the tender moments between them still hit all the right notes.
But what truly shines in this final book is the non-stop, action-packed, all-out war for survival. They're not just fighting for their own lives, but for everyone in Vakeeli! As a fantasy reader, I'm always on the lookout for that pivotal moment when chaos erupts, and Lethal Souls doesn't just deliver it... it explodes with it!
If you're craving a fated mates, dark gothic fantasy romance that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you absolutely need to dive into this series!
I read this as part of an ARC group. Please read the first two books of this trilogy or you will be lost. Amazing! I have been anticipating this book since the beginning of the trilogy. I did feel the storyline got a little slow but bear with it…. the last chapters in the book are so worth it! Shanora does an amazing job of tying up all loose ends in this book. There are many twists and turns and will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
3.5 ⭐️ This delivered the battle I was craving from this trilogy! (Yanking the spine out of a dragon? Ripping someone’s limbs off before turning them to dust? Sign me up LOL) I’m still torn on this series as a whole though. I love the world and the characters that this trilogy created, and I’m so glad I read it, it just didn’t capture my attention as much as I want from a fantasy/romantasy. Either way, so happy to have gotten Caz and Willow’s story 😊
Caz, Willow, and company are in for the fight of their lives, literally. They're about to find out who's true, and who's not. And by the end, only some will be left standing.
The Tether Trilogy has been one hell of a ride. Lethal Souls picks up shortly after the end of Wicked Ties, but the pace ramps up to its crazy peak about 3/4 of the way in and doesn't let up until the very end. The questions raised in the first two installments are answered, and I loved getting all the details of both Caz and Willow's expanding powers and abilities. Willow and Caz's emotional and magical connection only strengthens the further the story goes, and the epilogue is a contrasting sweet after all intensity of the battles they had gone through. I don't read a lot of fantasy normally, but I am so glad I got to read this series, it has restored my taste for fantasy and paranormal fiction.
First, the story literally hits the ground running so if you don’t have Wicked Ties fresh in your mind, or have an amazing memory, you’ll do yourself a disservice by trying to jump into Lethal Souls. There’s not many reminders/call-backs and without a solid recap your face will be ??? like mine was lol.
Now, I enjoyed this! At some points I felt like the storyline was moving slowly despite there being excitement throughout… but nothing compared to the final 20 or so chapters. Those were everythinggg! Very action-packed with so many twists and turns that my emotions were everywhere. When I read the final chapter I just sat there processing lol. And the epilogue did its job. 🥹😭 I feel like this final installment wrapped up the series well and didn’t leave us with more questions like some other series I’ve read.
This is the first ARC I’ve received and I’m HONORED it was from an author I enjoy and for a novel in a series I’ve loved! 🥲 I’m bummed this one is over but hopefully Shanora will give us another romantasy to swoon over. There’ll never be another Caz and Willow but maybe we can try lol
Other stuff: - Less than 5 typos or grammatical errors!!! Loved that! - Without giving spoilers, there’s a story the audience is told about three times but each iteration added more nuance. I don’t think I appreciated it until the third time around, honestly. - Willow was PUSHING it. I just wanted her to sit down somewhere almost the entire time lol - I wanted more storyline regarding Caz getting acclimated to his other part. Willow’s too, actually! The 0-100 was kind of jarring - The story of their parents was sweet! And getting more details for Caz’s thoughts/behaviors was insightful. As was the info on Willow & Warren - “The thing about you, Vassilis, is that you talk too fucking much.” -Caz. Genuine LOL
TW - nightmares, alcohol consumption, drug use / smoking (fantasy drugs), addiction (briefly discussed), rape (scs, mentioned), attempted rape (of the FMC, past, mentioned), threat of rape, gun use, knife violence, suicide ideation (past, mentioned), grief, death of a sibling, murder, blood, gore, captivity, physical violence, vomit, arranged marriage (scs), pregnancy, nausea, anxiety, fire, arson, cannibalism (scs), incest (scs, past), cutting for blood used for magic, domestic abuse (scs, recounted), discussion of abortion incl laws against it, misogyny, attempted murder incl that of a child, fantastical animal violence / death, familial death
Tropes - fuck it, jealousy, age gap (30F, 112M), dark fantasy, fated mates, forced proximity, found family
Representation - Black FMC, biracial MMC, interracial couple, diverse characters, queer scs
What an EPIC end to this trilogy!
I devoured these books and they didn’t disappoint. The stakes managed to get even higher in this book with Caz (MMC) and Willow (FMC) literally fighting to the very last breath.
Like with book 2, the bursts of domesticity and tender moments in this book made me swoon amidst the chaos. The cast had so much to contend with and they fought so hard for each other; it was so so so nice to read!!
I love love love this series and would defo recommend giving it a read! “Love of Vakeeli” has quickly become one of my fav sayings 😅
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
The Tether Trilogy has been nothing short of a wild journey, and Lethal Souls takes that excitement to a whole new level. Picking up right after the intense ending of Wicked Ties, the story accelerates to a breakneck speed about three quarters of the way in, without slowing down again until the very last page.
Shanora Williams masterfully wraps up this story, answering the burning questions from the first two books, all while leaving me wishing I could spend more time in the world she created. Her writing is so compelling that I laughed, cried, and felt deeply connected to the characters. Lethal Souls is a vicious, passionate, and emotional ride, a beautiful conclusion to a thrilling story.
This was a great ending to this trilogy. Caz, Willow, the Regals, and all of Vakeeli must band together to stop the greatest threat yet.
This book picks up a few weeks or month after the last book ended and hits the ground running. We learn more about the Regals, we see growth in our MCs, and there’s lots of action along the way.
One thing I really enjoyed is that this is a longer book, meaning the end of this trilogy is wrapped up in a satisfying way. Once the climax happens we don’t jump to the epilogue we get a few chapters to see life after the dust has settled AND we get an epilogue in the near future.
4.5⭐️ honestly the perfect ending to a great trilogy. I have no complaints other than wanting more of Fae😭. Like, Can we have a spinoff?! My heart almost broke but then it was put back together with these battle scenes!! & ummmm … TWINS?! 😍😍😍😍 yeah.. I wouldn’t even be mad if this series continues with the kids .. i wish there was more!
The final book in the trilogy was an extensive soap opera, with incredibly long story lines. Most authors would have concluded at 30% of this book, but Williams continued, ensuring no loose ends. This isn't necessarily a negative aspect if you enjoy fantasy; imagine Lord of The Rings meets Peaky Blinders, but with sex and Black characters. Williams' imagination is broad and extensive, as she has demonstrated proficiency in romance, dark romance fantasy, and thrillers, a genre for which she is most renowned. (In all transparency, I have yet to read her thrillers. 😩) She is skilled at her craft. Although, I can’t help but to think she’s on her way to a masterpiece. Perhaps her thrillers are her greatest works! 🫶🏾🌟📚
Can I say first and foremost a bittersweet this book is? I loved this series so much and it’s my first time completing a connected series like this so it will always have my heart!
This book was everything I needed. It really gave season finale. It was action packed to the point where I felt like I was watching a movie. There was sometimes I was confused by the amount of people/things happening in the book but ironically I still loved the fast pacing of it all. It was lowkey giving avengers but make it ✨romantic✨
We know from previous books how much Willow and Caz love each other but in this book we get to see just how deep that runs. The events went in different direction that I wasn’t anticipating but it was exciting!! It was a great book and great cap to an amazing trilogy 🤎
Thank you Shanora and team for allowing me to receive an ARC in exchange for this review!
4.5 ~ Caz and Willow made quite the comeback! Okayyyy Imperials?! So much for low key living lol - love that Faye gets to be there for her - and shocked no main players were unalived in the big showdown….happy ever after 😘

4⭐️ This was a great conclusion to the trilogy. I think people who aren't familiar with fantasy would find this world easy enough to follow. It is explained to you easily. There's magic, found family, betrayal, and so much more.
4.5 ⭐️ such a perfect ending to this amazing series. bittersweet cus I love this little world and the whole clan but it ended at just the right time! will also add I thinkkkk this was my favorite of the series 🤍
This was still a great read, but it didn’t quite give five-star vibes. I think a little more emotional devastation would have pushed it over the edge. If you’ve read it, you know exactly what I mean.
Thank you to Shanora Williams for the ARC of the final installment of the Tether Trilogy! This book drops you right back into Vakeeli with Willow and Caz. I was instantly excited to be back with these two again and to feel surrounded by their love for each other and their love for their family. The first few chapters had me cheesing and kicking my feet.
At the end of Wicked Ties, we were left with many questions, especially about the Regals. I felt like so many of these questions were answered. And they were answered in a way that allowed us readers to really force ourselves to see things from their prespective.
I felt like this book was so incredibly action packed. The last few chapters had me sat on the edge of my seat, wanting to see what happens next. Shanora Williams always has the capacity to get me hooked on her plots. I felt incredibly excited about picking this up and getting to the next chapter. I was stressed and felt the same hopelessness that the characters felt and I felt the same passion and hope for better. It was just so easy to root for everything to end up alright.
This story was beautifully wrapped up. Even when it ended, I still wanted to spend more time with Willow and Caz. I think this is a true testament to Shanora Williams's writing. I haven't felt like I've wanted to be in the world where a story takes place in so long, so I loved this. I laughed and cried, and I had such a great time following the story.
But really though, I could use a fourth book. Just give me more of these two! I legitimately thought about making myself wait to finish this book because I just wanted to spend even more time with Willow and Caz. With that sentiment in mind, I honestly could have taken another 100 pages. I would have loved to see more of Caz and Willow's training. I would have loved even more time with the Regals. I would have also loved more time with the Harlowe family.
