A brand new spicy, enemies-to-lovers Italian mafia romance from Jo McCall --The highly anticipated final standalone of the Sovereign Brotherhood comes to an end with Gia and Vitali's story.

Starving.
Freezing.
On the brink of death.
That is how he found me.
Vitali De Luca.
il traditore del sangue.
The blood traitor.

When he saves me from my isolated cabin,
He only wants one thing.

The location of my brother.
Oh, and my obedience.
Two things I refuse to give him.

It doesn’t matter any more
Because Vitali De Luca doesn’t play games
And now he’s doing the unthinkable.

Forcing his ring on my finger.
And my obedience in his bed.

There is a war brewing between our families.
Vitali will take back his father’s power, no matter the cost.
And in the end–I’m not sure whose side I will land on.

Blood may be thicker than water,
But the man who demands my pleasure has stolen my heart.
If only he would give me his in return.

Jo McCall writes dark, contemporary and paranormal romance with a mafia focus.

A paramedic for over ten years, Jo traded in her stethoscope for paper and pen after an injury left her unable to finish out her career.

She is an avid reader of anything dark and steamy and when she isn’t writing, you can find her making a rather large dent in her TBR.

She is a lover of strong but vulnerable heroines who find their own and hot, sexy alpha males who might be a tad bit over-possessive. Jo loves to lose herself in her characters and the flaws and darkness that surround them.

There is no shame found here, and she often gets lost when writing out those erotic, steamy scenes that make women’s (and men’s) fantasies come true.

“There is nothing like getting lost in something. you know is wrong, but still can’t resist.”

Jo currently resides in the beautiful state of Washington with her two dogs.

Brutal Vows felt like your typical mafia romance. The hardened alpha male kidnaps the fierce heroine and decides he wants her in his bed and at the end they find they’re perfect for each other.

“If I want you to ride my cock in the middle of a meeting, you will do it. When I tell you to sit on my face, I don’t care where we are or what we are doing, you sit on my fucking face. When you wake up with my mouth eating your cunt for breakfast, you will thank me for it. Do you understand?”

Plenty of banter, smut and an action packed plot with a shootout at the end. I liked it🤷🏻‍♀️.

I feel like first I have to say how much I love when books connect and we see characters from other series. This is an interconnected standalone. But the characters do make more sense and you understand their personalities more when you read the other books.

Oh Vitali. He is the mafia. He goes to find the man that tried to kill him and instead finds his sister, Gia. Gia is at the house because her brother saved Gia from their father who was going to sell Gia to free his debts. Vitali decides Gia is now his and kidnaps her. But what happens when Vitali likes punishing Gia?

This was so sooo good. I loved seeing the banter, the tension, and Gia becoming so fierce. Vitali is hard and gruff, but so sweet for Gia.

Procrastination and book slumps are not good combos because why did it take me over a week to finish this book?? Sorry Jo 😭

Thoughts:
Gia is k!dnapped/saved from starvation and pending death by Vitali and his men. We later find out that she was in that cabin to escape being sold as a payment of debt by her father and her brother was the one who took there and left her to d!e with no provisions.

In order to keep her safe — and because he’s found himself fond of her — Vitali decides he’ll marry Gia. Though she’s reluctant to this idea, she accepts her role as his wife pretty quickly. Their relationship blooms from there.

What I did expect was those two twists in the story. I was flabbergasted with both of them. Both dealing with some sort of betrayal, from different people.

Tropes:
mafia romance, forced marriage, he keeps her safe, dark but sweet romance, forced proximity, betrayals, 🐝dsm elements

Excellent mafia romance between Vitaliy and Gia. He kidnapped her and forced her to marry him. He wanted to use her as a tool against her father. Her father programmed her to believe that he is the bad guy and she struggled hard against him. Much of enemies to lovers forced marriage and force proximity. Love the story. Dark mafia romance. Check your triggers.

It was an okay read, but not a favorite.

Because I felt sick I didn't read for a few days, and then it became hard to push myself to finish this one.

Gia is a very strong girl even though sometimes she came across as "weak" that's maybe not the right choice of words.

What did annoy me was in each book of this series the H wants to spank the h for being "bad" like it felt forced at times, atleast with me it did.

But I did enjoy it actually more when the Gia who knows things comes forward. I found it empowering.

This author is a first for me, however not the genre.

Having not read the first two books, this book free flowed and was easily enough to understand including the characters.

Vitali is on the hunt for the man that tried to kill him, yet he gets more than he bargained for when he finds his sister Gia.

He becomes intrigued by the women, there are questions that need answers and he is determined to get them, and he does to a degree. Vitali needs control, wielding it shows the power he has and kidnapping her is only the beginning of something they both didn't see coming.

The banter, chemistry and tension between Vitali and Gia is undeniable. Vitali's hard and rough exterior is no match for the fiercness and sassiness that is Gia.

Vitali comes to care for Gia, her presence breaking down his walls, what he feels for her, foreign, yet there union as husband and wife, breaks down the barrier between them, the intimacy between them taking on new meaning, one Vitali craves as he brings his wife to submission with his punishments.

Gia becomes a valuable asset her skill set helping them to fill in the missing gaps. But when the past and present collide, her nightmares taking on new meaning, and when Vitali understands why, he is ropeable, but not so much when Gia reveals to her husband truths that change what he thought he knew.

Because those truths lead to deeper revelations, to betrayal from family that Vitali never saw coming, and when Gia is caught in the cross-hairs, Vitali vows swift retribution.

Loving Gia has changed his perspective on things, making the decision to hand over the reins of the De Luca empire to Dario, his second-in-command, was an easy choice, one he doesn't regret. Because Gia is his heart and he will give her the world.

I loved the way they went from enemies to lovers, how there relationship developed throughout the story. How through misunderstandings they come to not only care for but love each other.

Gia's submissiveness spoke to Vitali's dominance. There power play between pleasure and pain bringing them together as one. Those smexy scenes were downright steamy, spicy, sinfully dirty, wickedly filthy and deliciously hot. Vitali is a man consumed by the beauty that is Gia, one that he will continue to worship til the end of his days.

Recommend both the author and the book.

I received an ARC. Therefore, I am submitting a voluntary review.

The last book in the Sovereign Brotherhood trilogy and Brutal Vows was a dark enemies to lovers’ tale as Vitali De Luca, on the trail of the man who attempted to kill him, finds mafia princess Gia near death in a remote cabin. When he finds out she’s the sister of the man he’s looking for he takes her captive, to use her in an attempt to flush her brother out of hiding.

This trilogy has been my first read from this author and what an introduction it’s been. The overall writing has a fantastic flow to it, with the intricate plots laden with twist after twist capturing my attention from the opening pages and building the suspense before reaching a dramatic conclusion in Brutal Vows as the brotherhood uncover the identity of the real mastermind. The characters were well rounded with Vitali having a particular penchant for spanking, something he initially thought would be a punishment for Gia who as it turned out enjoyed his idea of punishment. The banter and chemistry between this couple was fabulous, mafia princess she may have been, but Gia definitely hadn’t been spoilt. She had a core of pure steel facing Vitali and everything he threw at her head on and as their relationship developed and she grew in confidence, Vitali realised how much of an asset she could be to him. And after that teasing bonus scene at the end, I can’t wait for the next book and the fireworks that will surely come with Dario and Antonia’s story.

I loved Vitali and Gia's story. Gia has been left in a cabin by her brother in a remote area. He was supposed to come back in a week for her and never does. Vitali rescues her near death but it's not the rescue she hoped for when she's Vitali's prisoner until she reveals her brother's location. But she doesn't know where he is since he left and never came back for her. This turns into a tale of lies and family betrayals which you never see coming.
I received an arc for my voluntary honest review for NN Book Blog. If you love a dark mafia romance with lots of action and twists and turns that you don't see coming you will love this read. I could have turned round and read this one again I enjoyed it so much and I hope we see more of Vitali and Gia in future books. Although this is Book Three in the Sovereign Brotherhood it can be read as a stand alone but it's better to read the previous two for the back stories and follow what's going on in the family dynamics. However this book may not be for everyone with some of the subject matter so please heed the authors warnings before reading or purchasing.

I am such a huge Jo McCall fan! This is the 3rd book in this short series and it is every bit as fantastic as the first 2. Love love love it! This whole series is on my “Re-read” list. When this one was due out.. I went back and re-read the first 2. I never tire of Jo’s books.
It was difficult to love the MMC at first. He was cold and cruel to the MFC. I wasn’t sure just how he would redeem himself.. but knew this Author would somehow turn it around for me. He ended up being my favorite of the series. I loved the MFC from the beginning. She was smart and had fire in her. I am definitely an open my mouth and put my foot in it girl.. so I got her completely. There are a lot of twists and turns. It was perfect!
Read the trigger warnings as usual. I didn’t have any issues but some may. 🤷‍♀️ I can’t recommend this entire series enough!! If this Author is new to you.. go check out her other books. They are all AMAZING! I’ve re-read all of them.. and will keep doing it!

The final standalone of the Sovereign Brotherhood! OMG, NOOOOOO!

This series was my first introduction to Ms. McCall!
Man do I have some follow-up I need to do, and I know my TBR will be growing!

Gia and Vitali's story was block-buster GOOD!
I couldn't put it down!
Thank goodness for rainy days!

Finding Gia in that cabin was the leverage Vitali needed to flush out her brother!

Vitali wanted his revenge, but, will Gia end up being more than just a temporary person in his life?

He may be getting attached to his captive!

This had plenty of action, steam, and k!nk!

I absolutely loved this story!

Was so excited when i received this arc. Gave up my beauty sleep for this, and honestly , NO REGRETS!! From the very first chapter, Brutal Vows had me intrigued. Vitali’s arrival in search of Gia’s brother set the tone for a gripping and emotional story. Jo McCall has a way of writing that pulls you in instantly—the tension, the buildup, and the emotional depth were all so well done.

Gia and Vitali’s chemistry was undeniable. Gia’s boldness and emotional layers made her so relatable, while Vitali’s cold, broody demeanor slowly unraveling was just chef’s kiss. I loved watching their dynamic shift and evolving. The story had plenty of twists, and every chapter made me want to keep reading.

This is my first book by JoMcCall and it did not disappoint! I will be going back to read the rest of the books leading up to this story.
Gia is left in a remote cabin alone and with no power. She hears someone breaking in and escapes from the cabin but not from the mysterious stranger who is on a mission to find someone. Not Gia.
Vitali is not a knight in shining armor but definitely a morally gray knight. He intends to use Gia for information about her brother and then dispose of her once he has the information or person he wants.
Vitali begins to care for Gia but it is wrapped in control and his desire for things to go his way.

I thoroughly enjoyed the arc from Jo McCall and look forward to reading her other books.

This is the third book in this trilogy, and this is Vitali and Goa’s story,
Finding Gia at the cottage, gives Vitali the leverage he needs to flush out her brother.
This is a well written story which is action packed, with family, friendships, emotions, revenge, twists and turns, undeniable chemistry, enemies / lovers, forced proximity, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, Italian mafia romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

I have absolutely loved this world and I am sad to see it go—while also hopeful for more in the future. I have also loved getting to know the Sovereign Brotherhood more. In Brutal Vows, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Vitali better and see the chemistry between him and Gia. This book, no scratch that—this world will always live rent free in my head. Watching Gia develop throughout the book was absolutely phenomenal and I loved every second of it! I highly recommend this book!

I had the pleasure to read Brutal vows by Jo McCall . I had to read the first two of this trilogy. It’s the story of 3 friends that meet at school. Adrian Volkov , Pakhan of the Volkov Bratva. Kenzo Nakamura, head of the Yazuka in New Orleans and Vitali De Luca, Don of the Miami mafia. They founded the Sovereign Brotherhood , a group where they share their wealth and influence. All their fathers were killed and no one knows why and who did it. That’s the main story that binds them together. But each have a book. And their love story. Don’t worry all have an HEA. It’s dark, spicy and so many hot scenes 🥵 tropes:
arranged marriages
enemies to lovers
Mafia forced marriage
virgin FMC
unapologetic anti-hero
Widow from the MMC(Adrian)
BDSM/Kink play
Betrayal
Who hurt you?
Puts tracking on her

It’s better to read them in order but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this series!!!

I loved Gia and Vitali's book!
I gotta be honest, it did take me a bit to warm up to Vitali though.
Their story had everything I want in a book and more!
There was action, secrets, betrayals, and revelations. Of course there was also lots of feels and some drama.
While Gia and Vitali's relationship started off rough, their journey to finding love was the best part. The banter, chemistry, and steam was so good.

Jo McCall is a queen of writing mafia stories. This is book 3 in the Sovereign Brotherhood. The troops are MAFIA/ITALIAN/FORCED MARRIAGE/CAPTIVE/ALPHAHOLE. Also, it is a standalone but I would read the first two first. Also please check your trigger warning before reading. Your mental health matters.
This book is about VITALI AND GIA’S. They are enemies to lovers. This book has so many twists and turns. I couldn't put it down.

Great book!

I couldn’t put this book down! I was hooked from the start. The MMC is definitely unapologetic in the best way! There were twists and turns and though not super spicy the spice was 🤌🏻
This was the 3rd book in a series of standalones. I did not read the first 2 but after reading this I will be!

This was the first book I read of Jo McCall. I will go and read the first two now to get the whole story. I really enjoyed the characters she created and how their feelings felt as you read the book. Very strong FMC, Gia was strong and smart and broken in ways that were just horrible, but she overcame. Vitality, who is hunting for her brother, finds her and takes her to use her to draw him out. She was on her deathbed when she was found, her brother just left her after saving her from her father.
There is a connection, a lot of twists, and turns in the story.

Will they finally admit what they are to each other.

Brutal Vows by Jo McCall (Sovereign Brotherhood Trilogy, #3)

⭐️
DNF @ 28%

The third instalment of the Sovereign Brotherhood focuses on the love story of Gia Nardoni and Vitali De Luca. Readers initially meet Gia in horrific circumstances—locked away in a room, gaunt and isolated from the outside world. It’s later revealed that her situation is a consequence of a brutal and power-hungry family. The same family whom Vitali De Luca is attempting to persecute, hence, when he finds the daughter of his enemy locked away, he takes her hostage. The depravity and sexuality in this novel departs significantly from what I commonly enjoy to read. The union of Gia and Vitali is confronting and acknowledges respective kinks from both. In order for Vitali to reinstate his power over his latest hostage, he executes a series of humiliating acts that I completely despised.

Moreover, as the novel progresses, Gia begins to interact more with the Sovereign Brotherhood family and shares a bond with the wives. She begins to avail her skills in technology to assist Vitali in his investigation, however, still gets shunned away by him. The moments that portrayed this were confusing to me as a reader. It seems the author allows Gia to flip between feeling imprisoned and free at the same time, however, with extreme emotions. As a mafia romance lover, I am not surprised by the prisoner trope, hence, I do believe the author could have been more intentional in articulating the experience of Gia and delayed her relationship with the Sovereign Brotherhood wives.

Ultimately, whilst ‘Brutal Vows’ is maturely written. The characters, the pace and scenes mitigated the novel a lot—to the point where I was put into a reading slump. The components seemed premature, lacked intentionality and were not articulated enough to allow the reader in the world of Sovereign Brotherhood.
