Rate this book
An historical, romantic adventure novel set in the deep tin and copper mining district of West Cornwall.

Tom Vyvyan, a miner returning to his home county from the Americas in the mid nineteenth century, invests in both mining and shipping enterprises. While hoping to pursue his new business interests unobtrusively he finds himself coming into increasingly open conflict with a fellow shareholder. The situation steadily deteriorates on both business and personal fronts until it culminates in a violent underground confrontation in which Tom has to fight for his life and the woman he loves.
