They thought they’d be friends forever… Forever didn’t last long.
In the summer of 1979, eight inseparable teens ruled the town of Piedmont, Washington — too close, too wild, too perfect. But when Roy disappears without a trace, the fragile threads holding the group together begin to unravel.
Jonathan Parse, the group's reluctant leader, is determined to uncover the truth. But Piedmont is a town built on secrets — and Roy isn’t the first to vanish.
As paranoia builds and old wounds resurface, Jon realizes that someone has been watching them all along. And if he’s not careful, he might be next.
A coming-of-age thriller about friendship, grief, and the dark side of growing up. Fans of We Were Liars, One of Us Is Lying, and Stranger Things will devour The Vanishing Eight.
Lincoln James, your favorite author’s favorite author, is known for his haunting love stories, vintage thrillers, and slow-burn suspense. His characters feel, ache, and bleed, often trapped between the past and the people who won’t let them forget it. When he’s not writing, James is a Communication professor in New York City and cherishes moments with friends and family, proving that the most thrilling tales lie in the love and laughter shared with those closest to us.
Spooky, nostalgic, heartfelt at the end and with a plot twist I honestly didn't see coming. Solid book and I think the author succeeded in what they were trying to do. It fits in with any other book of the 80s horror genre. Fun to read, would read others by the author if/when they're made more readily accessible on other platforms.
Great book, gave me Stranger Things vibes. Was gonna rate it 3 stars, but the end absolutely gutted me and was phenomenal. Want to read more by this young and new author.
