Desperate the protect the children now under his care, Haruki hides his own feelings and holds Kaoru at arm's length.

“Twisted Devotion” is a suspenseful slow-burn mm romance filled with yakuza action, hurt/comfort, and the morally gray twists of an all-enduring love.

“Haruki Sato and Kaoru Sano are not perfect. They are nineteen years old, their past is littered with death and crime, lies and mistakes, make-ups and break-ups, and neither of them has fully moved on from any of it. They are far from perfect. But what they most definitely are is in love. They both know that now, all secrets aside. And Haruki Sato is an optimist after all. He knows through every bit of hurt and every single hurdle ahead, there’s something more. There’s something worth it: that very love”.

Let me start off by saying this quote, really summed up all of my thoughts and feelings about this book perfectly. M.K Jade really wowed me with “Twisted Devotion”. It’s not your typical MM romance, it had so much depth to it. Both of our MMCS were alike and different in many ways. Haruki took the role of being a single dad when her husband Osamu goes to prison. He had to navigate being a father at an already young age. Kaoru left Haruki when they were teens, but returns as Haruki’s life is falling apart, wanting a second chance and to help pick up the pieces.

But that second chance doesn’t come easy when there’s so many plot twists, secrets and betrayals coming their way. M.K did an amazing job showing how real their lives were, showing different sides to both men. I loved the aspect of the Yakuza being included in it (there’s rarely any Yakuza themed romances out there). The storyline was a bit of a slow burn, but it was a good slow burn to really give the past history of Haruki and Kaoru and bring in the side characters. The character growth of Haruki was amazing. He really grew into a beautiful version of himself, wanting to be the change for so many people. I don’t have nothing bad to say about this book, it’s in my top 5 reads of April for sure! M.K Jade has a new fan, I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Twisted Devotion is a really good MM slow burn. Yes, Please add to your TBR!

I really enjoyed this read. The book has a great storyline that will have you hooked from page 1. I had a really hard time putting this book down!

Imagine coming from a rich family, to a broke single dad of not one but two kids at age 18! This is Haruki's life, everything always going wrong. Will he find love again? Will his life get any better or will everything keep going wrong? I recommend reading to find out!

Loved it! Set in Japan, kind of a dark background since all characters are involved with the yakuza in some way, but the romance itself is very nice and sweet, with some angst.
These characters are so young but they've already experienced too much.
And the two children.. my heart felt so much for them.
So good, I'd love to read more of this type of story.
And as a fan of friends to lovers, soulmates, this "I fell in love with you at 13 and never loved anyone else" was wonderful.
