Love, Lust, and Lethal Experiments

Akio, the nerdy anime-lover in my science class, is hiding a secret. His parents are the notorious mob leaders in town, and while he seems like the perfect student with a shy smile, his hands have been soaked in more blood than mine have.

But Akio isn’t the only Redwood student with a secret.

My father, the police chief, runs an illegal sex ring, and I’m in the center of it.

I’ve been used and abused for years. I don’t know what love is.

Yet while I have sworn off ever falling for anyone at Redwood Academy, the more Akio and I work on our science project, the more I like that dorky kid. But Akio can never find out my secret. I need to make sure of it.

Except my abusers have been washing up on the shore of Redwood Academy, and I fear that Akio has something to do with it.

Science Project is a standalone novel within the Bad Boys of Redwood Academy series. Join me in this spicy academy romance filled with secrets, scandals, and more!

After having been WAITING ENDLESSLY for this to come out since My Brother’s Best Friend, I WAS SO EXCITED TO FINALLY FUCKING READ THIS!

From having read the rest of this series, Akio has been a present character but only on the sidelines and in the background, but I was so stoked to have him FINALLY front and center! Especially now that we have his POV of events that happened in the corrupt as fuck Redwood and it’s academy. But BOY OH BOY I was NOT EXPECTING him to be like this! We love a quiet nerdy guy who is actually a bad ass! *smirk* And finally also having Nicole’s POV after everything that I’ve previously read just broke my damn heart. Never did she ever deserve what happened to her, and HER REDEMPTION ARC ON JUSTICE? YES. FUCKING. PLEASE.

Shit got FUCKING WILD in this book, and it was INSANE. Including the future of Redwood, things are changing for the better and I can’t wait to see what is instore for the Redwood Academy!

Fair warning this book starts off with heavy subject matter if you have triggers please check the warnings before you read, even if you've read the rest of the series.

Now having said that sometimes I enjoy a book with heavy subject matter, unnecessary violence that feels necessary. Mostly because the characters in a book can absolutely get away with it and still live happily ever after. Akio and Nicole absolutely prove that. Nicole has been used by her father the sheriff her entire life and she is struggling to see the end until she meets Akio. Akio is used to being unseen unless his mother or father needs to push him around. Mostly his mother who's in charge of pretty much everything in Redwood. As the leader of the local mob.
When Nicole and Akio are tasked with the same job from their parents they soon discover each other and the one person who might actually see who they truly are beyond their parents. The story is action packed, with plenty of on page violence. But it's also full of character growth as Nicole learns to love herself and Akio stands up for himself and what he believes is right.
I have voluntarily left this review.

What do you get when you pair a popular head cheerleader with a science nerd?! Normally...nothing. But in this wonderful story, you get a heart wrenching, gut stomping, hope giving love story!!! Our FMC Nicole has been dealt a crappy hand in life with a horrible and disgusting excuse of a father who uses her in the worst way possible not only for himself but to blackmail others in their town. Unfortunately for her, that ends up including our MMC's family, and Aiko our MMC is the biggest sweetheart who you can't help falling in love with. She never expects to fall for the nerd who she would never have looked at twice, but with his gentle ways and the fierce way he wants to protect her when no one else ever has... It's inevitable. Enjoy the journey of these two as they fight the hell that awaits them, but also the growth of their beautiful love story that's not the norm. Btw... please check the TW warnings before you read.

She has done it again, I was so exited to dive back into the world of Redwook Academy. I’ve wanted a story for Nicole for so long because I felt that there was just so much more to her then we have seen so far. Aiko and Nicole is just to cute together. He wants nothing but to protect and willing to do anything to protect her and pushing her to be her strongest self. Aiko is also a safe heaven for Nicole he wants her all of her in a way that no one has before.

This book is a little darker then her other work so if you have trigger warnings look them up before.

This book contains book action, emotional elements, allot of steam, it’s a page turner so you won’t be able to put it down so get comfortable and buckle up.

Nicole is the chief of police’s daughter. She is popular, and beautiful however, she is being abused and can’t tell anyone. Who would believe her over her father.
Akio is a nerd. He has had a crush on Nicole forever. When they are assigned as partners on a science project, he can’t believe his luck.
His family is head of the mafia but he wants no part of it. When he learns what is going on with Nicole he will stop at nothing to protect her.
This was an interesting read. I love how protective Akio was of Nicole and how the students come together at the end of the book.
Nicole has gone through so much mental, emotional and physical abuse. My heart breaks for her. Please read the trigger warnings on this one as there are some deep triggering topics covered.

Wow. What an addition to Redwood Academy.

This book sucked me in from the very beginning. I just had to know how the main characters story ended.

Perfect for the dark romance girls but beware that this one is DARK. Please read the content warning. Both Akio and Nicole's stories are rough but, man, did my heart hurt for Nicole. I had so many emotions going through this book and the poor girl just couldn't catch a break.

Having read other books in the series, I could see how they were all intertwined in this book and knew a little where the book was going because of it. That said, I was pleased with the ending.

Science Project is a good suspenseful dark romance.

Nicole is the popular head cheerleader, and Akio is the nerdy anime guy. Her father wants her to manipulate him to find out about his family, who is mafia. His mother wants him to use her to find out more about her policeman father.

So much trauma throughout their story. Nicole is put through so much hell at the hands of her father. Akio's mom is pushing him to join the family business, and she puts him through hell to prove himself.

Its opposites attract, he's protective of her, and he is the only guy who treats her like she's a person. They both grew throughout, and the ending was great!

Akio and Nicole have become one of my favorite Redwood Academy couples. Emilia's writing draws you into her stories and doesn't let go. Her characters and stories stay with you, long after you finish. The lengths that Akio goes to to save Nicole, epic. If you have read prior stories in the series, you might hate Nicole, but after reading this, she will become a favorite. There are some rough topics, so check your triggers. I can't wait to see what amazing stories Emilia comes up with next. Highly recommend.

When the head cheerleader falls for the dorky nerd who has had a crush on her for years. Nicole lives a life that most only have nightmares about when her father uses her to destroy other people’s life. Akio tries his hardest to stay out of his mother’s way as she rules Redwood. When the most corrupt leaders children the police chief’s daughter and the mafia boss’s son fall in love they have to fight to stay together. This book has it all action, twist and turns, amazing characters and most importantly a ton of spice.

I couldn’t put this book down and I was so excited to return to Redwood Academy. This book has action, steamy scenes, dark moments, and so much more! I loved Akio so much. He wants to protect Nicole and is willing to do anything to help her. My heart broke for Nicole but I loved how she was with Akio. He really allowed her to be her strongest self. I loved them together! The epilogue made me smile so much but I still want more of them.

This was such a good read but there are some dark elements so make sure you check the trigger warnings!

This book is probably one of my absolute all-time favorites from Redwood.

From the first glimpse we had of Akio and Nichole, I always wondered what a story between them would be like and Emilia DELIVERED 🥵🥵 These two are on an entire other level and Akio's character is *chefs kiss*

This book does have some DARK themes to it, and there is mention of grape and SA in this book, so please take care if that is something triggering for you!

All of the Redwood books have severe parental issues but none of them are as heartbreaking and evil as Nicole and Aiko's parents.
This was one of the hardest books I've ever read because Nicole's trauma and loneliness is so raw it's like it pulls your heart out of your chest.
This whole series is just phenomenal. Great storyline in every single book.

Mind the trigger warning, they are there for a reason and absolutely necessary

Uhm... Emilia if you read this... I definitely did not melt every time Akio beat up someone for Nicole... okay maybe a bit.... or a lot... but there were butterflies.... a lot of butterflies... they both healed each other and I stand on that.

Emilia Rose's "Science Project" is a thrilling, dark romance that plunges readers into the heart of Redwood Academy's sinister underbelly. Akio, the quintessential nerd, harbors an impossible crush on Nicole, the dazzling head cheerleader. Their worlds collide when their parents' clandestine agendas force them into an unlikely science project partnership. What begins as a strategic maneuver, with Nicole using her charm to manipulate the situation, quickly evolves into something far more profound.

Rose masterfully weaves a narrative that transcends typical high school tropes. Akio's fierce protectiveness of Nicole is both intense and captivating; his actions, though brutal, are driven by a desperate love that resonates deeply. Nicole, far from being a shallow stereotype, is a complex character grappling with the trauma of her father's abuse. Her strength and resilience shine through as she uses her intelligence and beauty to navigate a dangerous world, initially for survival, and later for revenge.

The emotional depth of "Science Project" is striking. The blossoming romance between Akio and Nicole is beautifully rendered, their connection a beacon of hope in a world shrouded in darkness. The lengths they go to protect each other, the sacrifices they make, and the raw vulnerability they share create a love story that is both powerful and heartbreaking.

Rose's storytelling is sharp and precise, seamlessly integrating "Science Project" into the larger Redwood Academy universe. Each installment in this series peels back another layer of the town’s corruption, and this book is no exception. The intricate plotting and the gradual revelation of the characters' backstories keep the reader hooked until the very end. The exploration of abuse, revenge, and the fight for justice is handled with a deftness that elevates the narrative beyond a simple romance.

The climax, where Akio and Nicole join forces to dismantle the forces that have wronged them, is both satisfying and emotionally charged. Nicole's bravery in sharing the damning video and Akio's unwavering dedication to her safety are pivotal moments that underscore the strength of their bond.

"Science Project" is a must-read for fans of dark romance and suspense. Emilia Rose has crafted a compelling narrative that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant. This book is a testament to the power of love and resilience in the face of unimaginable darkness, and a vital piece in the unfolding saga of Redwood Academy’s tumultuous transformation.
