Quote from the made his way through the automatic barriers at Reading station and headed to a saloon car parked close by. He sat in the passenger’s seat and plugged his display unit’s connector into a socket in the car’s central console. A panel in the dashboard spun around to reveal a touch screen. Jim tapped at the screen and a list of the copied files from Arthur’s terminal was displayed. He selected the one titled “Tiberius”. The car driver’s door opened and the red-headed drunk from the train sat next to him. Jim opened the Tiberius file and a class photo of Daniel Henstock was displayed on the screen, its time stamp showing it had been taken three years ago. He scrolled down and Daniel’s home address and personal details were displayed. ‘Is it what we want?’ the red-head asked. All traces of his slurred speech now gone. Jim nodded. ‘That’s the one. And it’s his birthday too,’ Jim said, pointing at the screen. ‘Sixteen today. What present do you think he’d like?’ The red-head gave a snigger. ‘Nothing that he’s gonna get.’ He fired the car’s ignition and eased it out of the car park. Jim took a mobile phone from his jacket and in a clear voice said, ‘Call, Control.’ The call clicked through after one ring. ‘Yes?’ a cold voice answered. ‘It’s Alpha One, sir. Our Intel was correct; the old man did have the data.’ Jim paused as if to add weight to his next four words. ‘Tiberius has been found.’"A combination of classic boys own adventures of the 40's and 50's, a touch of a teenage bond and a hint of the Matrix make for an interesting and fast paced adventure story. Our teenage hero is easy to like and has he pits his wits against numerous evil foes from school bullies to strange men in shady corporations the twists and turns keep you engaged and entertained. Recommend it for fans of Higson and Horowitz." Amazon reviewer Russell Myers "As I read the book I found myself drawn into the twists and turns of Daniel's life. Suddenly propelled into adult hood I sat up late reading into the night watching the boys history unravel and finding that I too was trusting no one he met." Amazon reviewer Lexx "Good read! Fast paced. Great escapism. Would make a good film. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. Highly recommended.
This book is full of great characters. Daniel is very believable.
A number of things about this book caught my imagination. The idea that everyone has to have a DNA card that includes fingerprints and eye scans is, unfortunately, a very real possibility of the future in our world. There's a certain suit that also comes to mind. I'd like to know more about that!
When those people with any connection to Danial are threatened, he steps up and to fix things.
I particularly like a scene at the end where Daniel faces a bully he's dealt with for years. Poor bully doesn't know what he's up against.
The book is set up for at least one sequel, and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next!
I chose this rating because I liked the book. It is hope such a story never comes true. To who should read are people of all faiths. So hopefully that nothing may come true like this story!
I choose this rating because the storyline and writing merited it. I really enjoyed this book, thank you for writing this story. I hope to read the other books in the series.
Since I had just watched Abduction recently, this book reminded me of that movie. It didn't have as many action scenes or life and death situations. But it did have international travels and the suspense of Daniel being just about to be found, again.
We get part of the story from varied characters. Daniel the teen on the run. Brennan, who keeps track of Daniel and reports back to Dryden. And of course the villain Dryden who wants nothing more than to see Daniel dead.
I was hoping that the story had a little more danger and fighting or getaway scenes in it. But it does have a lot of adventure and a great ending that leads to a continuation of the stories, possibility of a series? I liked the characters of Brennan and Dryden the most in the story. They stuck out to me, had emotion and drove the story.
Even though the story is focused on Daniel, I didn't feel I got to know him as a person. I hope that if the series continues that we can dig deeper into his background and Dryden's. Get them to have some more one on one confrontations, because that ending was pretty entertaining. I always love to see the main character have to fight their way out of looming peril.
It's a pretty clean read, and there is some futuristic technology.
I loved this book!!!!! I really am speechless this book is just that good. Its action packed and utterly amazing. Daniel thinks hes just another 15 year old boy who happens to be smart like really smart . He got a best friend and a bully that has bothered him for years. Then on the night of his 16th birthday he happens to be having a hard time sleeping and hears something unusual. He runs over to his wardrobe to grab his robe when a man in a MASK with a NEEDLE comes into his room!!!!!! Daniel thinks its all over, wand then another man comes into the room oh boy he is really in for it . But for some reason the new guy starts to fight with the man holding the needle, the guys fight and the newcomer wins. He tells Daniel that he has to come with him and that Daniel is in trouble. Well Daniel doesn't want to go and gets punched in the face and is effectively knocked out. Daniel wake up in a weird place and meet the professor, from that point on everything has changed and there is no going back. Oh and the end of this book will have you racing to get the second one Tiberius Bound!!! Great read for any age!!!
I'm not really a science fiction guy, but that didn't prohibit me from enjoying this book. The story follows Daniel, a sixteen year old clone, throughout his high-stakes adventures while he is pursued by a malignant contingent. They story was very well written and moved quickly enough that I did not find myself bored at any point. Daniel is a likeable character who is easy to route for. While I did find Daniel's big city savviness and quickly learned Kung-Fu skills a bit of a stretch, at no point was I put off by these aspects. And on the other hand, the villain Dryden was easy to find contemptible. The author describes Tiberius Found as a young adult fiction book. I believe that young people would find this story wholly enjoyable, as I did. For it's good ol' fashioned Saturday afternoon matinee-type adventure, I give this book 5 stars.
Tiberius Found by Andrew Goodman Adventure, mystery, technology, and suspense can all be found inside Tiberius Found by Andrew Goodman. It is the story of a young boy who has his whole life turned upside down when his past comes to haunt him. Daniel discovers he is not the person he thought he was and he was actually part of a science experiment. He suddenly finds his life thrown into turmoil as he is on the run from the people who created him. Andrew Goodman brings to life a fast paced, exciting story that leaves the reader waiting not so patiently for the sequel. Stitch says recommends Tiberius Found and gives if four and half woofs!!!
An action novel, with transatlantic spy chases and subterfuge. The plot of the book should appeal to lovers of science fiction who like government experiments gone wrong, and the maneuvering official lining his pockets at the side in the name of service to humanity.
The book was detailed in describing the setting of the scenes. However, I found the exploits of the main character somewhat unbelievable. Acquiring master level martial arts skills in a week and that by merely watching a Bruce Lee film was too hard to swallow.
In all, the book ended well, implying more is likely to come from the players behind the scenes.
Action packed. Well written. Interesting plot. Have bought next book. Liked the 'goodies and hated the 'baddies'. Just going to start the next instalment.
