After an unprecedented and regrettable drunken duel, Nathaniel Johnson wakes up in the Serpentine… as a frog. His only hope of rescue is the girl he’s secretly loved for his best friend’s little sister.

Lady Hannah Stanton has a history of taking in odd pets, but a talking frog is a first. Despite his inability to tell her his name, she willingly accepts his unconventional friendship and promises to find a way to reverse his curse—a task that would be easier if her days weren't filled with suitors and social engagements. To make matters worse, her brother's best friend has disappeared without a trace—the very man she's sworn to either woo or give up entirely by the end of the Season.

Enjoy this YA retelling of “The Frog Prince," set in a Regency England where Faeries are real and magic is an acceptable accomplishment for young ladies.

All books in this series are standalones and can be read in any order.

I wanted to like this. It has a pretty cover, it's a retelling, and it's regency. But it missed a spark factor. Simply put, it was boring and dragged. Slow books aren't bad, but they need moments, conversations, and scenes that compell them forward. The book lacked this.

The fantasy aspect was disappointing. While fantasy novels don't need to be high fantasy, they still need to actually use the fantasy. In this story, the only role of magic was to explain how a man can become a frog. It was a poorly used and explained fantasy world.

The couple was cute, but they too lacked a spark of energy. The ending was sweet, though. A very well tied together ending that was adorable and interesting.

ARC read, thank you for letting me read this.

What a charming magical story! This is my first from Ms. Prokopovits and I will definitely be reading more! I loved visiting this magical regency world and all the characters in it. This story is a standalone in a series and I was able to jump right in and understand the story.
Hannah was so sweet. I loved her tender heart and her strength. She was not afraid of standing out for the right reasons. It was so interesting to see the story unfold through her eyes. She had such a lovely relationship with her family. They all enjoyed one another’s company and were so supportive of each other. Nathaniel was also such a lovely character! He cared so much even though he was not able to show it fully as a frog. He was a protector and sought to support Hannah in the ways he could. They were able to connect in such a genuine way..
I loved having the dual POV, it really enhanced the story. It was a story primarily around romance, but with a strong fairytale adventure underlying. The magic was so fun and I loved the incorporation of it in this regency inspired world! I’m sure anyone who has read other books in this series will be excited to see old friends again. It was engaging, overall light-hearted, and a lovely gentle romance! I would definitely recommend it. It is a magical regency romance with only kissing.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.

Content:

Profanity: None.

Violence: None. Closest is a frog jumping at someone's face.

Sexual: Mild. Since one protagonist is a frog the majority of the time, there are times when he's held, sits in laps, cuddles on shoulder, and is pet. He sees the girl in her dressing gown, but closes his eyes when she gets in bed. There are some hugs, and a few kisses that are swoony, hands in hair and back of neck, but not descriptive.

Triggers: There is mention of a parent being too fond of claret, and implies he was negligent due to alcohol consumption and Drunkenness is an instigator to the problems in this book as well.

Cozy. That's what this was.

The story starts out with Nathaniel Johnson waking up as a frog. It jumps (ahem, pardon the pun) right into the issue of how he got this way and how he can get out of it and back to humanity. The first person he sees when he wakes up happens to be his best friend's little sister, a girl he's been in love with for the last three years at least.

Cue his mortification. He's all set to confess his stupidity to her, but all he can croak out (pun intended) is 'help' and he can't tell her anything of his name, who he is, or anything that would give away his identity.

Hannah has decided that this season is it. This is the last year she'll give Johnson, her brother's best friend, a chance. She's loved him since she met him as a young girl, but she's certain he only sees her as that little girl still, even at 20 years old. After making this determination to truly try for his affection, she finds a frog in the Serpentine who speaks to her and says he is an enchanted human. Immediately, she seeks to help this gentleman frog, and takes him home.

The rest of the story is a slow, but entertaining progression of friendship, longing, and funny shenanigans.

The only thing I wish would've been addressed was who the I wish it had at least had a sentence or two to sate my curiosity a bit better about the circumstances.

Eliza Prokopovits' "Her Accidental Frog" is a delightful and enchanting retelling of "The Frog Prince" set in a magical Regency England. The story follows Nathaniel Johnson, who wakes up as a frog after a regrettable duel. His only hope lies in Lady Hannah Stanton, the girl he secretly loves. Hannah, known for taking in odd pets, doesn't hesitate to help the talking frog, despite not knowing his true identity.

Hannah is a wonderful protagonist. Her kind heart and strength shine throughout the story. She stands out for the right reasons, maintaining her individuality despite societal expectations. Her genuine relationship with her family is heartwarming, showcasing their mutual support and love.

Nathaniel, even in his frog form, remains a caring and protective figure. His efforts to communicate and support Hannah despite his limitations are both touching and amusing. The dual POV enhances the narrative, allowing readers to fully appreciate the blossoming romance and the underlying fairytale adventure.

The magical elements are seamlessly woven into the Regency setting, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the story. Fans of the series will be pleased to see familiar characters, while new readers can easily jump in without prior knowledge. The book's engaging and light-hearted tone, combined with a sweet, gentle romance, makes it a captivating read.

Prokopovits' writing is fluid and evocative, bringing out the emotions of the characters and keeping readers eagerly turning pages. Even though the ending is predictable, the journey is thoroughly enjoyable, a testament to the author's skillful storytelling.

"Her Accidental Frog" is a charming addition to the Regency Magic Faerie Tales series. It's a perfect read for fans of clean, magical regency romances. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 6 in the series but can be read as a standalone, though you can meet Hannah in "Her Enchanted Tower." Highly recommended for anyone looking for a light-hearted, magical love story.

This whimsical fairytale retelling set in regency era England was so sweet and fun to read!

Lady Hannah Stanton adores many different kinds of creatures, so when she stumbles upon a frog at Hyde Park, who can croak-speak, she decides to investigate further. Little does she know that her brother’s best friend, Nathaniel, who has suddenly gone missing, is actually the frog she has been caring for. No matter how hard he tries to tell Hannah the truth of his embarrassing demise of dueling a magician while drunk one night, and waking up to find himself turned into a frog, Nathaniel’s chances of becoming human again are slim-until a rare encounter gives Hannah and Nathaniel the hope they need to undo the spell, and finally acknowledge the love they have for each other.

This story was so sweet, humorous, fun, and a joy to read! It is like a combination of Georgette Heyer with her regency novels and a lovely dash of magic that you would find in the fantasy novels of Charlie N. Holmberg and Susanna Clarke. This made out for a delicious treat!

I am utterly determined to read all the other books in the Regency Magic Fairytale Series, and cannot recommend this one enough!

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 6 in the Regency Magic Faerie Tales Series and can be read as a standalone, though you can meet Hannah in Her Enchanted Tower. The book's blurb is straightforward. Her Accidental Frog is a charming Frog Prince retelling told through Hannah and Nathaniel's third person pov.

Even though his frog form limited him, Nathaniel was able to find ways to protect Hannah and show her that he cared. It was fun to see him try to communicate with her. As for her Hannah, she was sweet and caring. Even if her likes weren't seen as something that a lady like her should entertain, I liked how she didn't try to change who she was and stayed true to the things she loved. I loved the concern that she showed for Nathaniel as a person and frog, though she didn't know it was him. Their romance is a clean one consisting of sweet kisses and no curse words were used. Overall, I really enjoyed it and the world the author has created.

This was a delightfully sweet story with the most endearing characters. I enjoyed the imaginative retelling of The Princess and the Frog fairytale set in regency era London. I especially appreciated that this was a book I would have no qualms handing my teenage daughters to read. In a world where so many YA books are full of wildly inappropriate material, this story remains squeaky clean without being sterile or boring. While I am familiar with the original tale, I couldn’t put this book down and stayed up quite past my bedtime for “just one more chapter” several times over. Even though I knew how the fairy tale ends, I was eager to see how the story would unfold. I will definitely be putting other titles from this series on my TBR list.

“As it happens, when a frog gives you a buttercup, it means ‘I adore you'."

If you are looking for a cute, simple fairy tale retelling without too many embellishments but one you can't put down, go read this book.

The book has good writing, great flow and likeable characters. I personally loved the chemistry between Hannah and the Frog. The writing was able to bring out the emotions of the characters without going into too much detail and you can feel the need to turn the page as fast as you can.

The fact, that knowing how the story will end does not matter, and you still enjoy the book is a testament to how well this is written.

Going back to start the series and looking forward to more.

I received an advance copy of the book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Hannah finds a frog who tells her he's a cursed human. The magic prevents him from telling her who he is, so little does she know that he's her brother's best friend, Nathaniel -- the man she's loved since she was a child.

Like the others in this series, it is set in an alternate Regency England where magic is practiced and acceptable. The main characters are so likable and their friendship so sweet, that I found this book an absolute delight. Prokopovits writes well, and the plot is fun and enjoyable, if light. I enjoyed it -- and the rest -- a good deal and look forward to the publication of another of these Regency fairy tales.

I like this retelling of the Frog Prince, with the feeling of Laura Greenwood's Shifter Season series and the freshness and creative twists of Deborah Grace White's "The Unlucky Prince". The original fairy tale never explained much of how the prince became a frog - this tale gives a decidedly ridiculously plausible explanation (for a magical Regency England), even with the traditional method of curse-breaking. I have got to read more of this series - such refreshingly romantically laugh-inducing fun!

I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Eeeek! That was adorable!!! I read this book in one long sitting and although I'm a bit stiff I don't regret it. I think my favourite part was witnessing Johnson's struggle to tell her who he was and how he tagged along to the majority of Hannah's functions. And his defense of her was so cute! I also love the environment of having a big family that cares for you deeply and I greatly loved seeing the family's concern for the missing Johnson. A beautiful story and great writing, I look forward to reading it again soon.

This was really a cute retelling of the Frog Prince. I enjoyed it immensely. I was able to start the book and finish it in an entire day. I also was very excited to see more of the family from the previous book. Hannah's HEA was one I enjoyed reading about. I will re reading this novel.

What a sweet, clean romance! I loved the suspense and the family relationships! This story takes place in the same amazing world as the author’s other fairytale romances live in and it was a pleasure to “live” there again for this book.

This was a really sweet retelling of the princess and the frog. I haven’t read many of those, and enjoyed this one. I would’ve like more time with the frog as a human, but overall the ending was pretty good.

Excellent novel! I loved Johnson and I absolutely loved Hannah. The part where he changed back into a human was really funny and I loved how much Hannah loved nature and wildlife. An incredible book and retelling of the Frog Prince!

A fun retelling

The frog prince has long been a favorite of mine and this retelling is nice. I especially enjoyed the nocturnal nature taking over the frog. Though I do have questions I'm not sure will ever be answered. In all a good read.

This novella had me chuckling multiple times in the first opening pages, setting us up for a sweet, low stakes, no-spice cozy romantasy + Jane Austen spin on The Frog Prince fairytale. While this is book 6 in the series, you can pick this up as I did, having not read the others yet. However, be warned, I now have five more books on my TBR now that I've finished this book.

A delightful story, easy to read, and paced well enough so you're constantly turning the page wondering how Ms. Prokopovits will twist Regency England with this fairy tale. I wish we knew who the mystery magician was that bespelled our hero, though! I kinda want him to have a story, because I'm contrary like that. Could a spell like that backfire?

This fairytale retelling of The Frog Prince was such a sweet regency romance, with a little bit of magic. It's perfect for young teenagers who like romance and a bit of fantasy. It's an easy to read story, the characters are relatable and the villain is the situation, rather than a person the characters interact with. This is the sixth book in the series, but the story can be read alone.

Hannah was such a sweet and kind character, who loves her family and cares about others to the extent that she goes out of her way to help a frog gentleman she doesn't even know the name of. Nathaniel was also a wonderful character who stands up for Hannah, wants to protect her and care for her, even though that's not so easy to do as a frog.
