The first story in the new Tiny Matchmakers series was a definite page-turner with a unique cast of characters, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. The story is a clean Western historical tale that takes place in a small town in Montana. A large portion of the story revolves around the new sheriff, Owen Benton, a former US Marshal who came to assist his brother, Thomas. Owen decides that it is time to settle down, and meeting Julia and her daughter, Anna, is worth making changes for. Learning that the present sheriff wants to retire, it will be easy for Owen to fill that position—and that is exactly what happens.
The story has the good, the bad, and the evil of people. As a marshal, Owen has been involved in many investigations—and that included extortion. He will slowly witness how shop owners are handing over white envelopes to a few men. These men are all cohorts of Jack Monroe, who runs the bank. When Owen makes some comments to a few of the businessmen in town, they clam up quickly.
Sheriff: Say, Chris, ever seen a town fall prey to extortion? Chris: Can’t say I have, Sheriff. What brings that up? Sheriff: Well, once upon a time, I was a marshal, and we got word about a problem in town. Everything seemed peaceful at first, but then we started noticing strange things. Like people being squeezed for money, just a little at first, like drops in a bucket. But those drops turned into a torrent, and soon enough, they demanded more than the town could bear. It started with just a few asking for ‘protection money. But as time passed, their demands grew bolder. Before we knew it, they were burning down buildings, even killing folks who wouldn’t pay up. Chris: That sounds like a nightmare. Sheriff: It was. Took everything we had to bring those responsible to justice. But some scars never truly heal.
Sheriff Owen Benton will make rounds to all the businesses, introducing himself and always leaving with this message; “You ever need anything my door is always open.”
I loved the care that Owen has for Julia and her daughter, Anna. He wants to court her and it won’t be easy for her to trust after her marriage to Anna’s father. But, over time, Owen proves repeatedly that he is a man of his word and a Christian. He is a protector, and when it comes to these two, they are at the top of his radar.
Owen: It seems to me the two of you need a keeper, and I mean to be the man for the job. Julia: You can’t say things like that, Owen. What does that even mean? Owen: It means the next time I catch you, Julia, I’m keeping you.
I truly enjoyed the story, and the kids, Daniel, Anna, and Tobias, are the little matchmakers. Each of them wants to see their mama with someone who will love her—and them too. Two down, and the next story will be about Tobias and the man for his mother, Rachel Miller.
The Tiny Matchmaker stories makes this retired educator and grandma chuckle. Silver Charms and the Marshal's Arms is a page turning read of suspense, mystery and romance with relatable characters (Julia Harper, her daughter Anna and sheriff Owen Benton), plus a bunch of despicable folks, and a believable resolution. Will Julia's dream of owning a jewelry shop become a reality? As mysterious events threaten not only her business, but the school will the handsome Sheriff Owen Benton bring law and order to the town? A delightful read and looking forward to reading the rest of this unique Matchmaking series.
I enjoyed the book! Julia is a widow with a young daughter. Owen is a former marshal who became the sheriff. Julia’s daughter and her friends decide to play matchmaker between Julia and Owen. Owen knows something is going on in town and investigates to determine the crimes and who is involved. The solving of the crimes is very exciting! This book is part of a series. Julia and Owen (and their tiny matchmaker) are introduced in the first book so I suggest reading the books in order. I highly recommend reading this book!
I enjoyed this story more than book 1 because it was more confuse, great story telling, and not as many slow-moving chapters. This book is 33 chapters & moves along perfectly. She is a single mom in Montana, a crafter of jewelry & silver with a young girl who loves to climb. As the sheriff seeks to sort out the trouble he senses among the business owners, he rescues Anna from a few messes. He vows to protect her. A bit of mystery about the undercurrent of trouble in town & the sheriff decides to stay.
Owen was new in town he came to see his brother Thomas…Owen used to be Marshal and the Sheriff ( he wanted to retire) in the town asked Owen if he wanted to be the Sheriff… Owen notice some strange things going on with the owners of the shops.. When Owen met Julia and her daughter Anna… Read and see what happened ❤️
Another sweet story! Plenty of danger and intrigue, as well as a handsome hero and his damsel in distress! Of course, the little matchmaker named Anna had her work cut out for her.
This is another hit by Lynn Landes. This is book 2 of Tiny Matchmakers. Such a joy to read about children and what they will do to get a daddy and husband. 5his was a very enjoyable read.
This was a good story and the author, for part of the book didn't use the same script type of writing. Until the end. Great storyline and loved that the bad guys got what they should!
Beautiful book of Mother and daughter relationship and protection. Story of love and children matchmaking for a 'new daddy'. A bit of intrigue in a small town and how the town gains freedom.
Love, laughter, and a dash of courtesy of the tiny matchmakers. This is a wonderful story and series. The kids are the ones writing and find just the right match for their parent.
