One night with a mountain man to get over my ex? Sign me up.
I’ve always put everyone else first. My patients, my ex, my friends...
But when I my ex told me it was over, he said it was my fault we weren’t working out. He called me selfish for taking time away from us to go back to school to further my career, and it shattered my world.
Me? Selfish?
Well, maybe it’s time that I am.
When I meet Sean Watson on a night out with my girls at Lumberjax, he makes me an offer I can’t refuse.
No strings attached. No emotions. No games.
Just two people being selfish.
What could possibly go wrong?
Honey Lumberjax is a series of standalone sweet and steamy instalove novellas featuring hot mountain men and the curvy women they love. A little OTT, no cheating and a HEA is always guaranteed!
Ren Booth writes steamy, instalove stories featuring over the top heroes who are a little rough around the edges and the curvy ladies who make them melt. She doesn't write cliffhangers or cheaters and a happily-ever-after is always guaranteed. Ren lives deep in the Appalachian Mountains with her hubby, a couple of kids, and her fur babies. When she's not reading or writing, you can usually find her making memories with her loved ones.
This is a Novella/Super Short Read Steamy Romance, and this is the second book in the Honey Valley: Lumberjax series. I have not read the first book in this series. I love a good short story, but this book was too short I think. There were some really steamy times, but I really just wanted more of the plot/storyline. I did feel a connection to the characters, but I felt that this story being so short did not allow the characters really to jump off the page. Overall, I wanted more. This story was not bad it just left me wanting more. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
After having her heart broken Janie went out with her friends for a night on the town. They ended up at Lumberjax were you go in a room and destroy everything. Let's you get all your frustrations out. Just what she needed. Whike she was there she spotted Sean. She knew him from High School. He was older then her but still as handsome as ever. Sean notices Janie when she was with her friends. Sean starts talking to her and notices she seems down. He suggests to give him a call when she needs a friend. Well this one night she needed a friend, so she called Sean. He came over but the heat between them was unreal. Janie had some ground rules and Sean agreed to them. It was hard to but both managed the first night to them but when they saw each other almost every day it was getting harder and harder to keep the rules in place. One night she needed Sean again but this time all bets were off. She couldn't take it and wanted more from Sean, whuchhe was happy she needed it as he did too. They were inseperateable from that day forward. Her once broken heart was healed by Sean himself.

Part of the Honey Valley series with a mountain man and the curvy girl who captures his undivided attention. Janie is sweet, curvier than most women her ex. broke her heart, her amazing friends decided to take her out hoping to help her forget her pain ending up in Lumberjack a place you where you have the right destroy everything ultimately taking your frustrations out exactly what is needed and she notices a man she met in high school he was older than her but she always felt an attraction but with him being older and all. Sean sexy as all get out old friend, he noticed the curvy beauty from high school he wanted to say something, but she was with friends and the moment he saw her alone he speaks to her noticing she isn’t all their mind occupied with sadness, so he offers to be her friend whenever she needed one to just listen. He didn’t think she would call, and she didn’t think she would call but fate put her in a position where she needed a friend, so she called. The magnetic pull is too strong to ignore so with a few ground rules they realize there is something there, but will she be afraid to trust, will he give her reason to trust, and can they find something more than just friendship?
Ooh - if you love broody, possessive guys who know what they want when they see it, this one is for you! Janie was dumped by her boyfriend, and he told her that she was too selfish because she wanted to further her career and didn't pay enough attention to him. So one night Janie is out at a bar with her two best friends, and she decides to be just that - selfish. She meets Sean, one of the owners of the bar, who sees her sad eyes and gets pulled in. He makes her an offer. One night to make each other feel good. Be selfish. Forget all the rest. Sean is ex-army. Jaded. Seen too much. They're both a little broken, and neither of them think they're relationship material. So they agree to no strings. They can keep feelings out of it, right? Sean is definitely the epitome of possessive alpha, and his protective side shows when he meets Janie. He makes her feel wanted, which she really needs. Oh, this is definitely OTT, and so yummy! A hot, quick read that won't disappoint! I gotta say - I can't seem to turn down a broody mountain man, and Sean fits the bill!!! Now I have to go back and read about his twin brother Silas! Can't wait!

Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Sean and Janie Genre- Contemporary Romance Heat- 🌋🌋 Two scenes, and a “no kissing” rule. Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers- erotic content Trope- ? FWB? Instalove? What I liked- both main characters were likable What I didn’t- the zexytime wasn’t very hot, which would have been okay but the relationship development was nil. I had trouble classifying it. It was almost Friends with Benefits because they seemed to agree that there were no strings, but it wasn’t because they caught feelings quickly. So quickly, that it was almost Instalove, but it was more like Instalust and sudden love after one night of FWB…. The love declaration seemed to come out of nowhere because they didn’t really have a relationship and they didn’t have the kind of emotions that indicate Instalove. The relationship seemed artificial. I much preferred Silas and Mari’s story in the same series.

Shattered is book 2 of the Honey Valley: Lumberjax series. Sean is the hunky ex-military man, turned co-owner of the local bar-club Lumberjax. Janie is a curvy hospice nurse who was recently dumped when her ex called her selfish. When she goes out with her friends one night, she meets Sean. They went to high school together, but he was 4 years older. The connection is instant for both of them, but Janie is afraid to get serious. Normally, Sean feels the same, but Janie is making him rethink that. As things get heated, can Janie let him in? Or will she push him away? Can Sean prove he is all in? The chemistry was hot 🔥 hot 🔥 hot 🔥! There is some angst as they work through their emotions, but we then end on a very happy note. I loved it!!!.

One of the worst days of Janie life could turn into the best she ever had. Out commiserating with her friends she runs into Sean. Sean notices her and the flirting starts. She been burned and keeps turning away but she just can’t seem to stay away.
Sean just clicks with Janie. He understands she’s been burned and will play by any rule to get closer to her. He wants forever. I love the chemistry between these two from the beginning. The characters are strong and trying to come to terms with issues in life. I couldn’t put this one down and can’t wait to read the next in the series.

I loved Shattered: A Mountain Man Curvy Girl Instalove Novella Honey Valley: Lumberjax. Janie is having a bad couple of weeks but she puts in a brave face for her friend. Sean knows something is off with Janie and he doesn’t even know her but he’s going to. They said no strings attached but suddenly strings are there and maybe it wasn’t a good idea. Suddenly Janie thinks maybe it’s Bette ti be alone and there is nothing Sean can do abiut it. I loved the storyline and the characters. Both have issues from their past that are holding them back. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

I think if the author had made this longer it would have benefited the story in multiple ways but since it's so short it felt very jumpy. it was like whiplash when they said I love you to each other. With it being so short I think a lot of the focus went to the spice. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I think the build up was great but the actual scene was a flop. The man did a page worth of thrusts and was spent it was actually quite laughable. if the story itself was longer I think it could have been overlooked when you get a connection with certain characters but as is this left much to be desired
Ugh so the book was good. NO LIKE REALLY GOOD but alas just way too short. I don't know why I do this to myself cause I get all caught up and them BAM the story is over. Janie and Sean made a cute couple and the chemistry was there. No heavy angst but drama from both. Story ended on a HEA and it left me with all the feel goods. Really wish it was longer as I would have loved for Sean to have gotten a hold of Patrick Janine's ex.. ugh highly recommended..

This is book 2 in Honey Valley Lumberjax series. I couldn't wait for Sean's story after meeting him in his twin brother's Silas's book. Sean did not not disappoint. Sean and Janie were great. Sean was understanding with Janie and everything she was going through. Love they got their HEA. Good addition to the series. Hoping there will be more books in this series.

After Janies ex leaves her heartbroken and feeling alone. Janie decides a night out with the girls in axe throwing room to let off steam. Janie meets Sean a sexy mountain man who initiates some no strings fun together. In a moment of just needing to not feel alone Janie messages Sean to come over. After their first night together it’s a fast paced fall hard fall fast love story. Two souls that just know when they meet that they’re it. Well written short romantic story. Good read.
Janie's ex called her selfish for wanting to better herself and not cater to him. Sean is ex-military and has opened a bar with his brother. When Janie catches Sean's eye, he can see the hurt and offers a solution to her pain.
Janie and Sean's story is a fast steamy read that takes you emotions on a wild ride as they are opening their hearts to being selfish.

I thought this was such a well done novella and I had a really great time with it! It built characters well in the short number of pages and got me interested in the other people mentioned throughout the story. I will always love a mountain man and this was no exception. My only wish was that the ending wasn’t quite so quick, even just one more chapter would have helped it have a stronger ending. Overall really great and highly recommend!.

I loved this novella. The men of Lumberjax are some of my favorite MMCs. Sean is wonderful. Even though this was short, I was engaged with the characters. The book didn't seem rushed. I cared about the characters and they seemed realistic even if their relationship escalated quickly.

A girls night out, a brief encounter that will help Janie set her priorities straight. Loved all the encouragement and openness from Sean, as Janie learns to put herself first and finally what it means to have support from the man who loves you.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Sean and Janie’s story. My first time reading this authors works and I am very pleased to say I loved it! Great characters, solid plot and it was written in a way that made reading easy. As the first book of the Honey Valley: Lumberjax I think it's off to a great start!.

Book two in this series was very good. It wasn’t as intense as the first one. Meaning the immediate love Silas had for his girl. But Sean’s story was a bit slower. She had so many rules to protect her heart I felt like we missed out on what more potential this book may have had. Anyway it was very sweet towards the end.
Shattered is a part of the Honey Lumberjax series, this a series of standalone which focus heavy on instalove with mountain men and curvy women.
This was my first read by this author and I devoured this story, in this story we follow Janie who goes on a night out following a break up and she encounters Sean. Sparks fly between the pair and I really enjoyed their dynamic.
Ren Booth delivers another excellent quick insta-love read. Honey Valley's other twin finds his match, but will she be willing to take a chance so soon after a heartbreak.

You know those books that are so good, you just wish they were longer? THIS! I absolutely loved this novella and will be following Ren Booth for all her releases!
I liked the connection and chemistry between these two, the way they could be themselves with each other and how they dealt with their feelings. I could have happily read more about them.

This was Sean and Janie’s book. She meets Sean Watson on a night out with the girls at Lumberjax, he makes an offer she can’t refuse. No strings attached. No emotions. No games. Just two people being selfish. What could possibly go wrong? An engaging read. And am voluntarily leaving this review.
They fell fast, but it's supposed to be this way since it's a short novella. Really cute, you know Sean was written by a woman, as they say, he's charming.

As is usual with novellas. there isn't enough to really get you invested. It's 63 pages but entertaining none the less. Janie meets Sean who shows her what support should be from a significant other.
very spicy and instant connection with Janie and Sean. really enjoyed this book and intrigued to see what else befalls the characters in the rest of the series!
